Abstract

In this paper, a new approach to robust optimal design is proposed. The idea is to consider the sensitivity by means of two auxiliary criteria A and D, related to the magnitude and isotropy of the sensitivity, respectively. The optimal design of a switched-reluctance motor is considered as a case study: since the case study exhibits two design criteria, the relevant Pareto front is approximated by means of evolutionary computing.

Abstract

Since their discovery by Iijima in 1991 [1], carbon nanotubes have sparked unwavering interest among researchers all over the world. This is due to the unique properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Carbon nanotubes have excellent mechanical and electrical properties with high chemical and thermal stability. In addition, carbon nanotubes have a very large surface area and are hollow inside. This gives a very broad spectrum of nanotube applications, such as in combination with polymers as polymer composites in the automotive, aerospace or textile industries. At present, many methods of nanotube synthesis are known [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. It is also possible to use carbon nanotubes in biomedical applications [7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14], including the destruction of cancer cells using iron-filled carbon nanotubes in the hyperthermia process. Computer modelling results of Fe-CNTs induction heating process are presented in the paper. As an object used for computer model creation, Fe-CNTs were synthesized by the authors using CCVD technique.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to determine the conversion accuracy of the Danisense DC200IF (Danisense A/S, Taastrup, Denmark) wideband current transducer for its possible application to test electromagnetic compatibility requirements of the standards IEC 61000-3-2 and IEC 61000-3-12 with the digital power meter Yokogawa WT5000 (Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Tokyo, Japan). To obtain this goal for distorted current of main frequency equal to 50 Hz and in the frequencies range of higher harmonics from 100 Hz to 2500 Hz its amplitude error and phase shift are evaluated. Moreover, the measurable level of higher harmonics with the rated accuracy of the used precision power analyzer is also investigated. Finally, the measuring system is applied to determine the RMS values of current harmonics produced by the audio power amplifier in order to assess its compliance with the standard IEC 61000-3-12.

Abstract

The article concerns the latest changes in the institution of conditional release, contained in the Act of 7 July 2022 amending the Act the Penal Code and some other acts. Although these provisions have not been in force yet, their enactment may significantly affect the current shape and tighten the rules of criminal liability. It is worth mentioning that this is another attempt to amend the Penal Code in this respect. The article interprets provisions directly modifying the current form and scope of application of the indicated probation measure, as well as their consequences for the entire criminal law system. The context and ratio legis of the amendment, which includes the discussed changes, related to the tightening of the principles of criminal liability and the increase in the preventive function of criminal law, were taken into account. The article also refers to some controversial solutions concerning, i.a. exclusion of the possibility of applying conditional release in relation to certain categories of perpetrators. At the same time, an attempt was made to assess the constitutionality of some of the planned changes and their significance from the point of view of human rights protection.

Abstract

This paper introduces, explains and illustrates real-life application of virtual training tool for electrical engineering education. The tool gives users the opportunity to interact with and manipulate 3D models of authentic devices. The users have a possibility to compare structural differences between devices, assemble and disassemble the machines and test them under extreme conditions, all of which would not be possible while working with a real device. The 3D devices are fully operational allowing the users to interact with them on every level, including analysis of impact of supply conditions i.e. modify voltage and frequency of a particular motor and monitor changes in performance while still operating. The main goal of this research was to evaluate effectiveness and educational values of the proposed tool. Early studies and feedback from educators and students prove this tool to be a great assistance to process of education, facilitating knowledge acquisition and providing an innovative way to put theory into practice.

Abstract

Artykuł odnosi się do aktualnego zagadnienia, jakim jest ingerowanie w przedmiot czci religijnej, ujętego w kontekście odpowiedzialności karnej za przestępstwo z art. 196 k.k. W rozważaniach oparto się na znanych opinii publicznej wydarzeniach, które oceniane były w kontekście odpowiedzialności karnej za powyższy czyn (np. zniszczenie Biblii podczas koncertu, rozpowszechnianie obrazu Matki Bożej z tęczową aureolą lub ścięcie przydrożnego krzyża). Omówiono problematykę ochrony uczuć religijnych, znajdującą swój wyraz w kryminalizowaniu zachowań polegających na znieważeniu przedmiotu czci religijnej. W szczególności zwrócono uwagę na potrzebę szerokiego rozumienia przedmiotu czci religijnej. Znaczenie tego określenia nie może być redukowane wyłącznie do przedmiotów fizycznych. Należy przyjąć, że obejmuje ono również przedmioty w znaczeniu duchowym – metafizycznym. Podjęto też próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy ingerowanie w określoną symbolikę i naruszenie kanonu, w jakim przedstawia się przedmiot czci religijnej, może stanowić przestępstwo obrazy uczuć religijnych. Biorąc pod uwagę stronę podmiotową przestępstwa z art. 196 k.k., wyrażono opinię, że odpowiedzialność karna w tym względzie jest możliwa. Rozważaniami objęto również tzw. kontratyp sztuki, którego przyjęcie ma prowadzić do wyłączenia bezprawności zachowań stanowiących wyraz ekspresji artystycznej i opierających się na wolności wypowiedzi. W tekście wykorzystano przede wszystkim metodę dogmatyczną, a w ograniczonym zakresie również metodę historyczną.

Abstract

Following the detection of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos in 2013, their origin is still unknown. Aiming for the identification of an electromagnetic counterpart of a rapidly fading source, we have implemented a realtime analysis framework for the IceCube neutrino observatory. Several analyses selecting neutrinos of astrophysical origin are now operating in realtime at the detector site in Antarctica and are producing alerts to the community to enable rapid follow-up observations. The goal of these observations is to locate the astrophysical objects responsible for these neutrino signals. This paper highlights the infrastructure in place both at the South Pole detector site and at IceCube facilities in the north that have enabled this fast follow-up program to be developed. Abstract

Induction motors are a significant consumer of electricity. Therefore, their energy efficiency level plays a vital role in the world's energy balance. The world's markets strive to produce motors of efficiency class IE3 or IE4 while maximizing the use of wire and magnetic materials. However, high induction values in the motor core can also lead to significant losses in construction materials, especially in the magnetic motor housing. This article aimed to show how it is possible to determine the distribution of the magnetic field and additional losses in the yoke and the cast-iron motor frame using field-circuit methods to model the motor and to refine the analytical method for calculating these losses at the motor design stage. Abstract

Permanent Magnet (PM) Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) actuators/motors have many advantages over conventional machines, including high efficiency, easy controllability over a wide range of operating speeds, etc. There are many prototypes for such motors; some of them have a very complicated construction, and this ensures their high efficiency. However, in the case of household appliances, the most important thing is simplicity, and, thus, the lowest price of the design and production. This article presents a comparison of computer models of different design solutions for a small PM BLDC motor that uses a rotor in the form of a single ferrite magnet. The analyses were performed by using the finite element method. This paper presents unique self-defined parts of basic PM BLDC actuators. With their help, various design solutions were compared with the PM BLDC motor used in household appliances. The authors proved that the reference device is the lightest one and has a lower cogging torque compared to other actuators, but also has a slightly lower driving torque.

Abstract

Ochrona zwierząt w związku ze zwalczaniem chorób zakaźnych jest zagadnieniem złożonym. W razie wystąpienia takiego zagrożenia w kolizji pozostają ze sobą dwa rodzaje dóbr prawnych – życie i zdrowie ludzi oraz zwierząt, chronione przed rozprzestrzenianiem się choroby zakaźnej i wiążącymi się z tym zagrożeniami, oraz wolność zwierząt od zadawanego im bólu lub cierpienia. Ze względu na mogącą wystąpić szeroką skalę szerzenia się choroby zakaźnej zwierząt w ramach epizootii, ich uśmiercenie stanowi często jedyną szansę na przerwanie łańcucha epizootycznego i zatrzymanie dalszego rozwoju danej choroby. W konsekwencji ustawodawca przyznaje wyższy priorytet bezpieczeństwu zdrowotnemu osób i zwierząt przybywających na określonym terytorium w związku z zagrożeniem tego obszaru epizootią niż dobru pojedynczych osobników zwierząt. Niedopuszczalne jest jednak całkowite zrezygnowanie ze wszystkich aspektów ochrony humanitarnej zwierząt. Uzasadnione, ze względu na wystąpienie epizootii, uśmiercenie zwierzęcia nie eliminuje konieczności przeprowadzania takich czynności w sposób humanitarny. Animal protection related to the control of infectious diseases is a complex issue. In case of such a threat, two types of legal goods are in conflict – the life and health of people and animals, protected against the spread of an infectious disease and the related threats, and freedom of animals from pain or suffering. Due to the potentially occur widely spread of a contagious disease of animals within epizootic, the killing is often the only chance to discontinue epizootic chain and arresting further development of the disease. Consequently, the legislator gives higher priority to the safety of the health of people and animals arriving on a specific territory in connection with the threat that the epizootic area than to welfare of the individual animals. However, it is unacceptable to completely abandon all aspects of the humanitarian protection of animals. Justified by an epizootic, killing an animal does not eliminate the need for such operations to be carried out humanely.
