Entrepreneurship education (EE) has attracted much scholarly attention, showing exponential growth in publication and citation numbers. The research field has become broad, complex, and fragmented, making it increasingly difficult to oversee. Our research goal is to organise and integrate the previous literature. To this end, we use bibliometric analyses, differing from prior analyses, which are outdated or have a different focus. Our results show an immense growth in publications and citations over the last decade and an almost equal involvement of business and educational research. We identify the most productive and influential journals and authors. Our co-citation analysis reveals two research clusters, one focusing on psychological constructs relating to EE, and the other on entrepreneurial behaviour and new venture creation. Based on a review of the 25 most-cited articles on an annual basis, we identify and quantify the most relevant research themes and integrate them into a research framework that we propose for future research. A major finding is that extant research centres around the outcomes of entrepreneurship education, whereas its pedagogy is still mainly a black box.

Executive education (EE) has been an established means for management education. However, due to the ever-changing business environment, progress in education technology, and new competitors, EE has been continuously evolving and can be expected to further change. Employing a three-stage international Delphi study, we identify a plausible scenario for the further development of EE over the next decade. The results suggest major changes for management training. The panel expects major shifts in teaching methods and curricula construction. Business schools are expected to increase content customization, to adapt delivery formats, and to enhance coverage of topical issues to better respond to leaders' needs.

We present the results of a randomized intervention in schools to study how teaching financial literacy affects risk and time preferences of adolescents. Following more than 600 adolescents, aged 16 years on average, over about half a year, we provide causal evidence that teaching financial literacy has significant short-term and longer-term effects on risk and time preferences. Compared to two different control treatments, we find that teaching financial literacy makes subjects more patient, less present-biased, and slightly more risk-averse. Our finding that the intervention changes economic preferences contributes to a better understanding of why financial literacy has been shown to correlate systematically with financial behavior in previous studies. We argue that the link between financial literacy and field behavior works through economic preferences. In our study, the latter are also related in a meaningful way to students' field behavior.

The discussion about the pros and cons of economics as a school subject has been going on for many years – and agreement has still not been reached. It is therefore useful to set aside the debate about economics as a school subject for now and to address the question of how social science-based economics education in mainstream schools can be designed in such a way to be successful. During the 2012 conference of the Association of European Economics Education (AEEE), approximately 100 teachers, teacher trainers, inspectors and researchers with a professional interest in economics and business education from all over Europe visited a German grammar school with a focus on economics education. The Siebengebirgsgymnasium in Bad Honnef strives to provide all pupils with a basic economics education and a selection of additional social science-oriented classes. Using some exemplary projects it has been demonstrated how, since 2003, the Siebengebirgsgymnasium has been dedicated to constructively addressing the Kaminski-Hedtke controversy about politics and economics education and to fostering a creative and social science-based economics education. Die Diskussion über die Vor- und Nachteile eines Schulfachs Wirtschaft wird seit vielen Jahren geführt – und eine Einigung ist nicht in Sicht. Es erscheint daher sinnvoll, die Debatte über das Für und Wider eines Schulfachs Wirtschaft vorerst auszublenden und sich gemeinsam der Frage zuzuwenden, wie eine sozialwissenschaftlich fundierte ökonomische Bildung an allgemeinbildenden Schulen konkret ausgestaltet werden kann, damit sie erfolgreich ist. Im Rahmen der internationalen Tagung der Association of European Economics Education (AEEE) 2012 besuchten etwa 100 Lehrer, Seminarleiter, Inspektoren und Wissenschaftler aus ganz Europa eine allgemeinbildende deutsche Schule mit einem ökonomischem Profil. Das Städtische Siebengebirgsgymnasium hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, allen Schülerinnen und Schülern eine ökonomische Grundbildung zu vermitteln, um sie auf ein eigenverantwortliches Leben in einer zunehmend komplexen Gesellschaft vorzubereiten.. Der Sammelband präsentiert die Ergebnisse dieser Diskussionen und ordnet sie in die aktuellen Debatten zur ökonomischen Bildung ein. Aus der Verbindung von neuen Perspektiven mit theoretischen Analysen, empirischen Befunden und Praxisbeispielen entsteht ein facettenreicher Blick auf didaktische Elemente für ökonomische Bildung, in Schule, Hochschule und Weiterbildung. Die Autor:innen beleuchten u.a., welche Inhalte sich für die Förderung von ökonomischem Denken eignen und erläutern die Nutzung etablierter Themen und Inhalte der ökonomischen Bildung, von der Verbraucherbildung über die Entrepreneurship Education bis zur Wirtschaftsbürgerbildung. Forscher:innen in wirtschafts- und bildungswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen sowie pädagogische Akteur:innen in Schule, Hochschule und Erwachsenenbildung finden hier aktuelle Analysen und innovative Anregungen zur Förderung ökonomischen Denkens.
