Stress concentration factors (SCFs) for welded tubular joints can be decreased by filling the chord with concrete leading to a longer fatigue life. However, there are currently no design formula available in guidelines to predict the SCF of concrete-filled circular hollow section (CFCHS) K-joints, thus limiting their applicability in bridge design. To address this gap, finite element models for CFCHS K-joints were developed and compared against test results to ensure their accuracy. Then, a comprehensive parametric study was conducted to establish relationships between maximum SCFs and four variables: brace-to-chord diameter ratio (β), chord diameter-to-thickness ratio (2γ), brace-to-chord thickness ratio (τ), and the angle between braces and chord (θ). A total of 480 FE models were examined under three loading conditions including brace and chord loading: balanced axial force, chord axial force, and chord bending. Design equations to predict the maximum SCF for CFCHS K-joints were established by multiple regression analyses of the numerical results. A comparison of maximum SCFs between circular hollow section (CHS) and CFCHS K-joints was made, and it was concluded that average reductions of 42% and 33% in maximum SCFs in CFCHS K-joints at the locations of the chord and brace were found compared to CHS joints for balanced axial force, respectively. Finally, a case study illustrating how to use the proposed equations for fatigue safety verification was presented.

Abstract Background Conventional single-energy CT can only provide a raw estimation of electron density (ED) for dose calculation by developing a calibration curve that simply maps the HU values to ED values through their correlations. Spectral CT, also known as dual-energy CT (DECT) or multi-energy CT, can generate a series of quantitative maps, such as ED maps. Using spectral CT for radiotherapy simulations can directly acquire ED information without developing specific calibration curves. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of utilizing electron density (ED) maps generated by a novel dual-layer detector spectral CT simulator for dose calculation in radiotherapy treatment plans. Methods 30 patients from head&neck, chest, and pelvic treatment sites were selected retrospectively, and all of them underwent spectral CT simulation. Treatment plans based on conventional CT images were transplanted to ED maps with the same structure set, including planning target volume (PTV) and organs at risk (OARs), and the dose distributions were then recalculated. The differences in dose and volume histogram (DVH) parameters of the PTV and OARs between the two types of plans were analyzed and compared. Besides, gamma analysis between these plans was performed by using MEPHYSTO Navigator software. Results In terms of PTV, the homogeneity index (HI), gradient index (GI), D2%, D98%, and Dmean showed no significant difference between conventional plans and ED plans. For OARs, statistically significant differences were observed in parotids D50%, brainstem in head&neck plans, spinal cord in chest plans and rectum D50% in pelvic plans, whereas the variance remained minor. For the rest, the DVH parameters exhibited no significant difference between conventional plans and ED plans. All of the mean gamma passing rates (GPRs) of gamma analysis were higher than 90%. Conclusion Compared to conventional treatment plans relying on CT images, plans utilizing ED maps demonstrated similar dosimetric quality. However, the latter approach enables direct utilization in dose calculation without the requirements of establishing and selecting a specific Hounsfield unit (HU) to ED calibration curve, providing an advantage in clinical applications.

Science - Abstract
Abstract RIG-I is an essential innate immune receptor that responds to infection by RNA viruses. The RIG-I signaling cascade is mediated by a series of post-translational modifications, the most important of which is ubiquitination of the RIG-I Caspase Recruitment Domains (CARDs) by E3 ligase Riplet. This is required for interaction between RIG-I and its downstream adapter protein MAVS, but the mechanism of action remains unclear. Here we show that Riplet is required for RIG-I signaling in the presence of both short and long dsRNAs, establishing that Riplet activation does not depend upon RIG-I filament formation on long dsRNAs. Likewise, quantitative Riplet-RIG-I affinity measurements establish that Riplet interacts with RIG-I regardless of whether the receptor is bound to RNA. To understand this, we solved high-resolution cryo-EM structures of RIG-I/RNA/Riplet complexes, revealing molecular interfaces that control Riplet-mediated activation and enabling the formulation of a unified model for the role of Riplet in signaling.

Pinelliae Rhizoma (PR), a highly esteemed traditional Chinese medicinal herb, is widely applied in clinical settings due to its diverse pharmacological effects, including antitussive, expectorant, antiemetic, sedative-hypnotic, and antitumor activities. Pinellia ternata exhibits morphological variation in its leaves, with types resembling peach, bamboo, and willow leaves. However, the chemical composition differences among the corresponding rhizomes of these leaf phenotypes remain unelucidated. This pioneering research employed Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) to conduct the in situ identification and spatial profiling of 35 PR metabolites in PR, comprising 12 alkaloids, 4 organic acids, 12 amino acids, 5 flavonoids, 1 sterol, and 1 anthraquinone. Our findings revealed distinct spatial distribution patterns of secondary metabolites within the rhizome tissues of varying leaf types. Orthogonal Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (OPLS-DA) effectively differentiated between rhizomes associated with different leaf morphologies. Furthermore, this study identified five potential differential biomarkers—methylophiopogonanone B, inosine, cytidine, adenine, and leucine/isoleucine—that elucidate the biochemical distinctions among leaf types. The precise tissue-specific localization of these secondary metabolites offers compelling insights into the specialized accumulation of bioactive compounds in medicinal plants, thereby enhancing our comprehension of PR’s therapeutic potential.

Teleseismic traveltime tomography is an important tool for investigating the crust and mantle structure of the Earth. The imaging quality of teleseismic traveltime tomography is affected by many factors, such as mantle heterogeneities, source uncertainties and random noise. Many previous studies have investigated these factors separately. An integral study of these factors is absent. To provide some guidelines for teleseismic traveltime tomography, we discussed four main influencing factors: the method for measuring relative traveltime differences, the presence of mantle heterogeneities outside the imaging domain, station spacing and uncertainties in teleseismic event hypocenters. Four conclusions can be drawn based on our analysis. (1) Comparing two methods, i.e., measuring the traveltime difference between two adjacent stations (M1) and subtracting the average traveltime of all stations from the traveltime of one station (M2), reveals that both M1 and M2 can well image the main structures; while M1 is able to achieve a slightly higher resolution than M2; M2 has the advantage of imaging long wavelength structures. In practical teleseismic traveltime tomography, better tomography results can be achieved by a two-step inversion method. (2) Global mantle heterogeneities can cause large traveltime residuals (up to about 0.55 s), which leads to evident imaging artifacts. (3) The tomographic accuracy and resolution of M1 decrease with increasing station spacing when measuring the relative traveltime difference between two adjacent stations. (4) The traveltime anomalies caused by the source uncertainties are generally less than 0.2 s, and the impact of source uncertainties is negligible.

In this paper, we investigate the nonlinear characteristics of the flow in a two-dimensional and a three-dimensional counterflow model with symmetrical structures. Through numerical simulations, we obtain the velocity fields of the fluid flow in these models for different Re. The numerical results are analyzed to understand the nonlinear characteristics and differences between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional models. The findings indicate that, when Re varies, both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional models exhibit solution bifurcations and nonlinear phenomena such as symmetry breaking, self-sustained oscillations, and chaos. As Re increases, the two-dimensional counterflow model displays a unique solution, an asymmetric solution, and an oscillating solution. Specifically, when Re < 4320, both the laminar and turbulent models show a unique, symmetric, and steady-state velocity distribution. For 4652 < Re < 8639, the two-dimensional model solutions are not unique, presenting a pair of antisymmetric, asymmetric solutions that nevertheless remain steady-state. When Re > 8639, the solution becomes oscillatory and unsteady. The three-dimensional counterflow model exhibits a two-dimensional solution independent of the Z-axis. At Re = 4652, both the three-dimensional and two-dimensional models produce the same unique, symmetric, and steady-state velocity distribution with no three-dimensional flow (W = 0). At Re = 8639, the three-dimensional model solutions are not unique, showing a pair of antisymmetric, asymmetric solutions, while still being steady and time-independent. At Re = 87,627, the three-dimensional model solution becomes oscillatory and unsteady. By elucidating the flow characteristics and nonlinear features of both models, this study compares the differences between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional flows, thereby laying the groundwork for simplification of the problem and further theoretical research.

The field of human-computer interaction is expanding, especially within the domain of intelligent technologies. Scene understanding, which entails the generation of advanced semantic descriptions from scene content, is crucial for effective interaction. Despite its importance, it remains a significant challenge. This study introduces RGBD2Cap, an innovative method that uses RGBD images for scene semantic description. We utilize a multimodal fusion module to integrate RGB and Depth information for extracting multi-level features. And the method also incorporates target detection and region proposal network and a top-down attention LSTM network to generate semantic descriptions. The experimental data are derived from the ScanRefer indoor scene dataset, with RGB and depth images rendered from ScanNet's 3D scene serving as the model's input. The method outperforms the DenseCap network in several metrics, including BLEU, CIDEr, and METEOR. Ablation studies have confirmed the essential role of the RGBD fusion module in the method's success. Furthermore, the practical applicability of our method was verified within the AI2-THOR embodied intelligence experimental environment, showcasing its reliability.

The Tengchong Cenozoic volcano is located near the collision boundary between the Indian and Eurasian plates. The tectonic activity in this area is strong, and the volcano has a potential for eruption. Studying the origin of the Tengchong volcano is important for understanding plate subduction processes and the mechanism of volcano eruption. This review first summarizes the latest researches on the origin of the Tengchong volcano, including new advances in geophysics and geochemistry, and then discusses the magma source and deep dynamic mechanism. These studies have found that the genesis of Tengchong volcanism is mainly related to plate subduction. The subducted residual oceanic plate and the currently subducting Indian plate may both contribute to the source of metasomatic materials. The oceanic plate released melt and fluid to form metasomatized asthenospheric and lithospheric mantles, and Tengchong magma originated from the mixing of lithospheric and asthenosphere mantle melts. The metasomatized lithospheric mantle is characterized by low 3He/4He (< 7.0 Ra) and Nb/La (average of 0.36) ratios as well as high 87Sr/86Sr (average of 0.707928) and La/Yb (average of 22.0) ratios. In contrast, the enriched asthenospheric mantle is characterized by high 3He/4He (> 7.0 Ra) and Nb/La (average of 0.52) ratios with relatively low 87Sr/86Sr (average of 0.706708) and La/Yb (average of 17.0) ratios. The increasing trend of 3He/4He ratios and decreasing trend of 87Sr/86Sr ratios over time suggest that the contribution of the metasomatized lithospheric mantle decreased relative to that of the enriched asthenosphere after the late Pleistocene, reflecting the progressive lithospheric extension and thinning. Tengchong basalts do not show clear correlation between 87Sr/86Sr ratio and SiO2 content, whereas basaltic andesite, andesite, and dacite display positive correlation between 87Sr/86Sr ratio and SiO2 content. This phenomenon indicates that Tengchong basalt suffered limited crustal contamination, while basaltic andesite, andesite, and dacite underwent obvious crustal contamination. Moreover, seismic imaging along with magnetotelluric and geothermal studies revealed several magma chambers (low-speed anomalies) in the crust beneath the Tengchong volcano. However, the size and depth of the magma chambers vary between different studies. The low-velocity bodies in the crust extend downward to the upper mantle, which may indicate that the magma chambers in the crust are fed by hot materials from the upper mantle. However, a consensus on the origin of hot materials has yet to be reached. Seismic tomography studies suggest that hot materials could be generated from the dehydration of the stagnant slab in the mantle transition zone, tearing of the subducted plate, or slab rollback. Differences in seismic imaging results may be caused by the limited observation data, data imaging methods, and the multi-solution of geophysical inversion. The utilization of more data and advanced geophysical methods will help obtain high-resolution imaging results to further constrain the origin of the Tengchong volcano.

Abstract Main goal of the JUNO experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering using a 20 kt liquid-scintillator detector. Its key feature is an excellent energy resolution of at least 3% at 1 MeV, for which its instruments need to meet a certain quality and thus have to be fully characterized. More than 20,000 20-inch PMTs have been received and assessed by JUNO after a detailed testing program which began in 2017 and elapsed for about four years. Based on this mass characterization and a set of specific requirements, a good quality of all accepted PMTs could be ascertained. This paper presents the performed testing procedure with the designed testing systems as well as the statistical characteristics of all 20-inch PMTs intended to be used in the JUNO experiment, covering more than fifteen performance parameters including the photocathode uniformity. This constitutes the largest sample of 20-inch PMTs ever produced and studied in detail to date, i.e. 15,000 of the newly developed 20-inch MCP-PMTs from Northern Night Vision Technology Co. (NNVT) and 5000 of dynode PMTs from Hamamatsu Photonics K. K.(HPK).

The inclusion of nano-SiO2 and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers can improve the strength and toughness of cementitious composites, and the durability can be further enhanced by protecting the surface of the composite with a polymer coating. Herein, three types of nano-SiO2 and PVA fiber-reinforced cementitious composites were prepared with water–binder ratios of 0.35, 0.40, and 0.45. Furthermore, the following three types of polymer coatings were applied to the surfaces of the protective objects: single-layer and double-layer chlorinated rubber coatings, polyurethane coatings, and permeable silane impregnation agents. The effects of the types and number of layers of polymer coatings on water absorption, freezing–thawing resistance, and carbonation resistance of the nano-SiO2 and PVA fiber-reinforced cementitious composites, as well as the effects of the water–binder ratio of the cementitious composites on the protective efficiency of the polymer coatings, were investigated. The results revealed that the three types of polymer coatings could decrease the capillary water absorption of cementitious composites and improve the freezing–thawing resistance and carbonation resistance of the composites. The carbonation depth and mass loss after freezing–thawing cycles of the material coated with a single polymer coating were reduced by 12–66% and 30.2–60.4%, respectively, compared with the corresponding values for the cementitious composites without coatings. Moreover, the effect of the double-layer polymer coatings was superior to that of the single-layer coatings. As the water–binder ratio decreased, the influence of the polymer coating on the durability of the cementitious composites became increasingly apparent.

Numerical and experimental studies were conducted to study the nonlinear phenomena of a 1000 MW ultra-supercritical four-corner tangential pulverized coal boiler. In this paper, (1) a 3D model of a furnace with a symmetrical structure was established to analyze the asymmetric flow phenomenon and multi-solution phenomenon of flow for multiple timepoints under the same boundary conditions. (2) The visual experiment verified that the flow in the furnace also behaved asymmetrically. (3) On the basis of correctly predicting the nonlinear law, the “diagonal start up” method and the “sequential start up” method are proposed. (4) An uneven coefficient of velocity distribution M, deviation coefficient of flue gas mass flow rate Eq and gas temperature deviation coefficient ET are proposed to quantitatively analyze the degree to which the actual tangent circle deviates from the ideal tangent circle. The tangent circle under the “sequential start up” method is the closest to the ideal, which can reduce the thermal deviation of the furnace outlet from 67 K under the “simultaneous start up” method to 41 K. In this paper, the initial steady-state flow field in the furnace is established by using the initial value sensitivity of the nonlinear system through different burner-opening methods, so as to reduce the thermal deviation at the furnace outlet and achieve the purpose of accurate control.

Solar neutrinos ,Astrophysics ,QB460-466 - Abstract
The physics potential of detecting ^8 B solar neutrinos will be exploited at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), in a model-independent manner by using three distinct channels of the charged current (CC), neutral current (NC), and elastic scattering (ES) interactions. Due to the largest-ever mass of ^13 C nuclei in the liquid scintillator detectors and the expected low background level, ^8 B solar neutrinos are observable in the CC and NC interactions on ^13 C for the first time. By virtue of optimized event selections and muon veto strategies, backgrounds from the accidental coincidence, muon-induced isotopes, and external backgrounds can be greatly suppressed. Excellent signal-to-background ratios can be achieved in the CC, NC, and ES channels to guarantee the observation of the ^8 B solar neutrinos. From the sensitivity studies performed in this work, we show that JUNO, with 10 yr of data, can reach the 1 σ precision levels of 5%, 8%, and 20% for the ^8 B neutrino flux, ${\sin }^{2}{\theta }_{12}$ , and ${\rm{\Delta }}{m}_{21}^{2}$ , respectively. Probing the details of both solar physics and neutrino physics would be unique and helpful. In addition, when combined with the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory measurement, the world's best precision of 3% is expected for the measurement of the ^8 B neutrino flux.

Summary: Capturing different conformations of receptor proteins that are complexed with ligands by single-particle cryo-EM facilitates our understanding toward the mechanisms of ligand recognition and receptor activation cascades. Here, we present a protocol for capturing RNA-sensing innate immune receptors, such as RIG-I, in multiple conformations by single-particle cryo-EM. We describe steps for protein-ligand sample preparation, data acquisition, and image processing covering focused three-dimensional classification. This protocol can be adapted to capture the dynamic behavior of other receptors that can be stabilized. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Wang and Pyle (2022).1 : Publisher’s note: Undertaking any experimental protocol requires adherence to local institutional guidelines for laboratory safety and ethics.

Abstract We study damping signatures at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a medium-baseline reactor neutrino oscillation experiment. These damping signatures are motivated by various new physics models, including quantum decoherence, ν 3 decay, neutrino absorption, and wave packet decoherence. The phenomenological effects of these models can be characterized by exponential damping factors at the probability level. We assess how well JUNO can constrain these damping parameters and how to disentangle these different damping signatures at JUNO. Compared to current experimental limits, JUNO can significantly improve the limits on τ 3/m 3 in the ν 3 decay model, the width of the neutrino wave packet σ x , and the intrinsic relative dispersion of neutrino momentum σ rel.

Science - Abstract
While most broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAb) against Influenza virus target conserved conformational epitopes of the glycoprotein hemagglutinin (HA), Sun et al. characterize a lineage of bnAbs that neutralize group 1 and 2 strains. Structural characterization shows that antibody 28-12 binds a continuous epitope within H3 (group 2) but requires a conformational epitope for H1 (group 1) binding. Comparison of germline-reverted Ab and intermediate mutants provides evidence for an evolutionary adaptation from group 2 to group 1 strain.

By the principle of differential subordination and the $ q $-derivative operator, we introduce the $ q $-analog $ \mathcal{SP}^{q}_{snail}(\lambda; \alpha, \beta, \gamma) $ of certain class of analytic functions associated with the generalized Pascal snail. Firstly, we obtain the coefficient estimates and Fekete-Szegö functional inequalities for this class. Meanwhile, we also estimate the corresponding symmetric Toeplitz determinant. Secondly, for all the above results we provide the corresponding results for the reduced classes $ \mathcal{SP}^{q}_{snail}(\alpha, \beta, \gamma) $ and $ \mathcal{RP}^{q}_{snail}(\alpha, \beta, \gamma) $. Thirdly, we characterize the Bohr radius problems for the function class $ \mathcal{SP}^{q}_{snail}(\alpha, \beta, \gamma) $. Lastly, we establish certain results for some new subclasses of functions defined by the neutrosophic Poisson distribution series.

Traditional Angle of Arrival (AoA)-based WiFi array indoor localization algorithms do not fuse Channel State Information (CSI) inter-packet data for estimation, which makes WiFi arrays less effective for localization in complex indoor environments. Most algorithms are overburdened leading to inefficient localization. To address these issues, in this article, an indoor positioning algorithm based on Higher-Order Singular Value Decomposition (HOSVD) is proposed. First, the CSI data are reconstructed as a new measurement matrix by borrowing subcarriers, and a third-order tensor is constructed. Next, tensor compression techniques are used to reduce computational complexity and the signal subspace is obtained by HOSVD. Then, the AoA is obtained by the Reduced Dimension Multiple Signal Classification (RD-MUSIC) method. Finally, the coordinates of the target can be obtained by triangulating the AoAs of the three Access Points (APs). According to the simulation experiments, the AoA can be estimated accurately at a low SNR and with low snapshots. In practical experiments, we can successfully estimate the AoA in complex indoor environments with shorter timelines using HOSVD without modifications to commercial hardware and produce a lower AoA error and localization error rates compared to other algorithms. The effectiveness of our proposed algorithm is proven by simulations and practical experiments.

In this study, drawing on firm life cycle theory, we focus on the corporate performance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) engagement via financial stress and consider the moderate effect of transparency, financial slack, and environmental uncertainty. The industry-year fixed effects panel regression analysis is executed based on the data including 11,742 firm-year observations for 1,486 Chinese A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2020. The results show that ESG performance can significantly improve corporate performance at all life cycle stages, especially when the corporate is in the growth stage. Moreover, the mechanism analysis shows that the financial risk mediates the relation between ESG performance and corporate performance for the corporates in the growth and maturity stages. The association between ESG and corporate performance is more pronounced when corporate information disclosure quality is high. Moreover, financial slack moderates and undermine the association between ESG and corporate performance in the maturity stages. Similarly, for the maturity and decline stages of corporate, environmental uncertainty moderates and undermines the association between ESG and corporate performance. Besides offering scientific evidence for the role of ESG ratings in relieving financial pressure and promoting corporate performance in growth and maturity stages, the results can also inform the regulators and/or investors of the benefit of engaging in corporates sustainability transition, which has implications for both the success of the regulatory regime and the advancement of long-term investment philosophy.

Abstract The OSIRIS detector is a subsystem of the liquid scintillator filling chain of the JUNO reactor neutrino experiment. Its purpose is to validate the radiopurity of the scintillator to assure that all components of the JUNO scintillator system work to specifications and only neutrino-grade scintillator is filled into the JUNO Central Detector. The aspired sensitivity level of $$10^{-16}\hbox { g/g}$$ 10 - 16 g/g of $$^{238}\hbox {U}$$ 238 U and $$^{232}\hbox {Th}$$ 232 Th requires a large ( $$\sim 20\,\hbox {m}^3$$ ∼ 20 m 3 ) detection volume and ultralow background levels. The present paper reports on the design and major components of the OSIRIS detector, the detector simulation as well as the measuring strategies foreseen and the sensitivity levels to U/Th that can be reached in this setup.

Neutrino Detectors and Telescopes (experiments) ,Nuclear and particle physics. Atomic energy. Radioactivity ,QC770-798 - Abstract
Abstract JUNO is a massive liquid scintillator detector with a primary scientific goal of determining the neutrino mass ordering by studying the oscillated anti-neutrino flux coming from two nuclear power plants at 53 km distance. The expected signal anti-neutrino interaction rate is only 60 counts per day (cpd), therefore a careful control of the background sources due to radioactivity is critical. In particular, natural radioactivity present in all materials and in the environment represents a serious issue that could impair the sensitivity of the experiment if appropriate countermeasures were not foreseen. In this paper we discuss the background reduction strategies undertaken by the JUNO collaboration to reduce at minimum the impact of natural radioactivity. We describe our efforts for an optimized experimental design, a careful material screening and accurate detector production handling, and a constant control of the expected results through a meticulous Monte Carlo simulation program. We show that all these actions should allow us to keep the background count rate safely below the target value of 10 Hz (i.e. ∼1 cpd accidental background) in the default fiducial volume, above an energy threshold of 0.7 MeV.

In the article we introduce and investigate several new subclasses of q-starlike and q-convex type analytic and multivalent functions involving a generalized Bernardi integral operator, and establish the Fekete-Szegö type functional inequalities for these function classes. Besides, the corresponding bound estimates of the coefficients ap+1 and ap+2 are obtained.

Abstract Atmospheric neutrinos are one of the most relevant natural neutrino sources that can be exploited to infer properties about cosmic rays and neutrino oscillations. The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) experiment, a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector with excellent energy resolution is currently under construction in China. JUNO will be able to detect several atmospheric neutrinos per day given the large volume. A study on the JUNO detection and reconstruction capabilities of atmospheric $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ fluxes is presented in this paper. In this study, a sample of atmospheric neutrino Monte Carlo events has been generated, starting from theoretical models, and then processed by the detector simulation. The excellent timing resolution of the 3” PMT light detection system of JUNO detector and the much higher light yield for scintillation over Cherenkov allow to measure the time structure of the scintillation light with very high precision. Since $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ interactions produce a slightly different light pattern, the different time evolution of light allows to discriminate the flavor of primary neutrinos. A probabilistic unfolding method has been used, in order to infer the primary neutrino energy spectrum from the detector experimental observables. The simulated spectrum has been reconstructed between 100 MeV and 10 GeV, showing a great potential of the detector in the atmospheric low energy region.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), in recent years, are developing rapidly. However, when fly into private residences or public areas without authorizations, UAVs pose latent threats to personal privacy and public security. UAVs localization is a significant part of an anti-UAV system. In this paper, a remolded acoustic energy decay model preserved relative in acoustic energy attenuation inverse of distance square is used to generate training data. Multilayer perceptron(MLP) is the model to train these data and predicts accurate relative 3D space coordinates. Four different UAV flight trajectories are simulated. We also test robustness against noise with different levels. Simulation experiment results show that the deviation is less than 1.48 m in specific distances and noise levels, even with higher noise levels the deviation can still be accepted. The problem of limited detection range is overcome by the use of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) with more sensors. Long and short-term memory (LSTM) is investigated, but it doesn’t outperform MLP in accuracy and processing time.

Abstract We present the calibration strategy for the 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional calibration program, in combination with a novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors and readout systems, we demonstrate that the JUNO central detector can achieve a better than 1% energy linearity and a 3% effective energy resolution, required by the neutrino mass ordering determination.

Medicine ,Science - Abstract
Abstract Research on the wettability of soft matter is one of the most urgently needed studies in the frontier domains, of which the wetting phenomenon of droplets on soft substrates is a hot subject. Scholars have done considerable studies on the wetting phenomenon of single-layer structure, but it is noted that the wetting phenomenon of stratified structure is ubiquitous in nature, such as oil exploitation from geological structural layers and shale gas recovery from shale formations. Therefore, the wettability of droplets on layered elastic gradient soft substrate is studied in this paper. Firstly, considering capillary force, elastic force and surface tension, the constitutive equation of the substrate in the vector function system is derived by using the vector function system in cylindrical coordinates, and the transfer relation of layered structure is obtained. Further, the integral expressions of displacement and stress of double Bessel function are given. Secondly, the numerical results of displacement and stress are obtained by using the numerical formula of double Bessel function integral. The results show that the deformation of the substrate weakens with the increase of the elastic modulus, also the displacement and stress change dramatically near the contact line, while the variation is flat when the contact radius is far away from the droplet radius.

Medical image fusion techniques primarily integrate the complementary features of different medical images to acquire a single composite image with superior quality, reducing the uncertainty of lesion analysis. However, the simultaneous extraction of more salient features and less meaningless details from medical images by using multi-scale transform methods is a challenging task. This study presents a two-scale fusion framework for multimodal medical images to overcome the aforementioned limitation. In this framework, a guided filter is used to decompose source images into the base and detail layers to roughly separate the two characteristics of source images, namely, structural information and texture details. To effectively preserve most of the structural information, the base layers are fused using the combined Laplacian pyramid and sparse representation rule, in which an image patch selection-based dictionary construction scheme is introduced to exclude the meaningless patches from the source images and enhance the sparse representation capability of the pyramid-decomposed low-frequency layer. The detail layers are subsequently merged using a guided filtering-based approach, which enhances contrast level via noise filtering as much as possible. The fused base and detail layers are reconstructed to generate the fused image. We experimentally verify the superiority of the proposed method by using two basic fusion schemes and conducting comparison experiments on nine pairs of medical images from diverse modalities. The comparison of the fused results in terms of visual effect and objective assessment demonstrates that the proposed method provides better visual effect with an improved objective measurement because it effectively preserves meaningful salient features without producing abnormal details.

The Ni-based superalloy is used as the turbine blade, which is subject to the coupling effect of temperature and super-gravity during service. As the Ni-based superalloys are difficult to become homogenous after using the solid solution heat treatment, a study on morphology and composition distribution of Ni-base superalloys with segregation during microstructural degradation is necessary. This study investigates the microstructure of the ex-service turbine blade and cast samples subjected to the high-temperature centrifugal test. The difference in the size and shape factor of the γ′ phase decreased with the stress caused by the super-gravity condition, indicating a higher magnitude of homogenization degree. The higher stress will also promote the merge of the sub-grain boundaries, leading to a lower density and higher orientational deviation of the sub-grain boundaries.

This paper studies the joint range and angle estimation of monostatic frequency diverse array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar and proposes a joint estimation algorithm. First, the transmit direction matrix is converted into real values by unitary transformation, and the Vandermonde-like matrix structure is used to construct an augmented output that doubles the aperture of the receive array. Then the augmented output is combined into a third-order tensor. Next, the factor matrices are initially estimated. Finally, the direction matrices are estimated utilizing parallel factor (PARAFAC) decomposition, and the range and angle are calculated by employing least square fitting. As contrasted with the classic PARAFAC method, the proposed method can estimate more targets and provide better estimation performance, and requires less computational complexity. The availability and excellence of the proposed method are reflected by numerical simulations and complexity analysis.

In this paper, we study the joint range and angle estimation problem based in monostatic frequency diverse-array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar, and propose a method for range and angle estimation base on compressed unitary parallel factor (PARAFAC). First, the received complex signal matrix is stacked into a third-order complex signal tensor. Then, we can transform the obtained third-order complex signal tensor into a third-order real-valued signal tensor by employing forward–backward and unitary transformation techniques. Next, a smaller third-order real-valued signal tensor is composed by using compressing the third-order real-valued signal tensor. After that, PARAFAC decomposition is applied to obtain the direction matrix. Lastly, the angle and range are estimated by employing the least square (LS) fitting. The estimation error of the proposed method is about 10% lower than that of the traditional PARAFAC method under the low number of snapshots. When the number of snapshots is high, the performance of the two methods is close. Moreover, the computational complexity of the proposed method is nearly 96% less than those of the traditional PARAFAC methods in the case of low snapshots, while the gap is larger in the case of high snapshots. The superiority and effectiveness of the method are proved by complexity analysis and simulation experiments.

Abstract Background An osteon consists of a multi-layered bone matrix and interstitial fluid flow in the lacunar–canalicular system. Loading-induced interstitial fluid flow in the lacunar–canalicular system is critical for osteocyte mechanotransduction and bone remodelling. Methods To investigate the effects of the lamellar structure and heterogeneous material properties of the osteon on the distributions of interstitial fluid flow and seepage velocity, an osteon is idealized as a hollow two-dimensional poroelastic multi-layered slab model subjected to cyclic loading. Based on poroelastic theory, the analytical solutions of interstitial fluid pressure and seepage velocity in lacunar–canalicular pores were obtained. Results The results show that strain magnitude has a greater influence on interstitial fluid pressure than loading frequency. Interestingly, the heterogeneous distribution of permeability produces remarkable variations in interstitial fluid pressure and seepage velocity in the cross-section of cortical bone. In addition, interstitial fluid flow stimuli to osteocytes are mostly controlled by the value of permeability at the surface of the osteon rather than at the inner wall of the osteon. Conclusion Interstitial fluid flow induced by cycling loading stimuli to an osteocyte housed in a lacunar–canalicular pore is not only correlated with strain amplitude and loading frequency, but also closely correlated with the spatial gradient distribution of permeability. This model can help us better understand the fluid flow stimuli to osteocytes during bone remodelling.

As an irreversible and complex degenerative physiological process, the treatment for aging seems strategically necessary, and polysaccharides play important roles against aging owing to their abundant bioactivities. In this paper, the antioxidant and anti-aging activities of Flammulina velutipes polysaccharides (FPS) and its sulfated FPS (SFPS) on d-galactose-induced aging mice were investigated. The in vitro antioxidant activities demonstrated that SFPS had strong reducing power and superior scavenging effects on 2, 2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl radicals and the chelating activities of Fe2+. The in vivo animal experiments manifested that the SFPS showed superior antioxidant and protective abilities against the d-galactose-induced aging by increasing the antioxidant enzyme activities, decreasing lipid peroxidation, improving the inflammatory response and ameliorating the anile condition of mice. Furthermore, the structural analysis of SFPS was investigated through FT-IR, NMR, and HPLC analysis, and the results indicated that SFPS was a homogeneous heteropolysaccharide with a weight-average molecular weight of 2.81 × 103 Da. Furthermore, SFPS has also changed in characteristic functional groups and monosaccharide composition compared to FPS. These results suggested that sulfated modification could enhance the anti-oxidation, anti-aging and protective activities of F. velutipes polysaccharides, which may provide references for the development of functional foods and natural medicines.

The present work mainly describes the preparation of acetylated mycelia polysaccharides (AMPS) from Pleurotus djamor and investigates the antioxidant and anti-aging effects in d-galactose-induced aging mice. The optimized procedure indicates the acetyl substitution degree of AMPS is 0.54 ± 0.04 under the conditions of a reaction time of 56 h, a reaction temperature of 37 °C, and 4 mL of added acetic anhydride. The in vitro analysis and in vivo animal experiments indicate that the AMPS could alleviate the aging properties by scavenging the radicals, elevating the enzyme activities, and reducing the lipid contents. As for serum levels, the AMPS can improve the serum biochemical indices and enhance immunological activity. The histopathological observations indicate that the injuries to the liver, kidney, and brain can be remitted by AMPS intervention. The characterization showed that AMPS was one kind of β-pyranose with the weight-average molecular weights of 3.61 × 105 Da and the major monosaccharides of mannose and glucose. The results suggest that AMPS can be used as a dietary supplement and functional food for the prevention of aging and age-related diseases.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
We firstly construct generalized Baskakov operators Vn,α,q(f;x) and their truncated sum Bn,α,q(f;γn,x). Secondly, we study the pointwise convergence and the uniform convergence of the operators Vn,α,q(f;x), respectively, and estimate that the rate of convergence by the operators Vn,α,q(f;x) is 1/nq/2. Finally, we study the convergence by the truncated operators Bn,α,q(f;γn,x) and state that the finite truncated sum Bn,α,q(f;γn,x) can replace the operators Vn,α,q(f;x) in the computational point of view provided that limn→∞nγn=∞.

SUMMARYThe Qinling belt is a transitional zone lying among three units: the North China block (NCB), the South China block (SCB) and the northeastern Tibetan Plateau (NETP). Owing to the interaction of these units, complex deformation has occurred in the Qinling belt. Although many studies have been conducted to understand the deformation mechanism in the Qinling belt, some key issues are still under debate, such as whether middle-lower crustal flow exists beneath the western Qinling belt (WQB). High-resolution images of subsurface structures are essential to shed light on the deformation mechanism. In this paper, high-resolution images of the velocity structure and azimuthal anisotropy beneath the Qinling belt are obtained by using an eikonal equation-based traveltime tomography method. Our seismic tomography inverts 38 719 high-quality P-wave first arrivals from 1697 regional earthquakes recorded by 387 broad-band seismic stations. In the WQB, our tomography results show low-velocity anomalies but relatively weak anisotropy in the middle-lower crust. These features suggest that middle-lower crustal flow may not exist in this area. In the central Qinling belt (CQB), we find low-velocity anomalies in the middle-lower crust; however, the fast velocity directions no longer trend E–W but vary from NNE–SSW to N–S. These characteristics can be ascribed to the convergence and collision between the NCB and the SCB. In addition, we find strong low-velocity anomalies in the uppermost mantle beneath the CQB, which may indicate delamination of the lower crust. In the southern Qinling belt, we observe significant high-velocity anomalies in the upper crust beneath the Hannan–Micang and Shennong–Huangling domes. These high-velocity anomalies indicate a mechanically strong upper crust, which is responsible for the arc-shaped deformation process of the Dabashan fold. Based on the P-wave velocity and azimuthal anisotropic structures revealed by the inversion of high-quality seismic data, the deformation of the Qinling belt is affected mainly by the convergence between the NCB and the SCB rather than by the middle-lower crustal flow from the Tibetan Plateau.

BackgroundBone is a biological material whose mechanical properties are outstanding. The fracture mechanics research of cortical bone is a major challenge to fully understand the complex behavior of biological composites and for the design of future bioinspired materials. MethodsIn order to characterize the fracture mechanics behavior of cortical bone, the plane problem for the cortical bone with a microcrack located in the interstitial tissue under tensile loading was considered. Using the solution for the continuously distributed edge dislocations as Green's functions, the problem was formulated. ResultsThe singular integral equations with Cauchy kernels were obtained. And the numerical results indicate that the stress intensity factor of the microcrack is dominated by the material constants and the geometric parameters of the cortical bone.ConclusionThe numerical results suggest that a soft osteon promotes the microcrack propagation while stiff one repels it, but this interaction effect is limited near the osteon. Some of the numerical results are in accordance with the results obtained and additional numerical results predicted need to be confirmed.

SUMMARY The Tengchong–Baoshan region (TBR) is located at the margin of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau (SETP) and is subject to the complex interaction among multiple tectonic blocks. Therefore, the TBR is approximate for investigating the mechanism responsible for the interaction among the SETP and its surrounding blocks. Based on eikonal equation-based seismic tomography, we obtain high-resolution P-wave velocity and azimuthal anisotropy at depths of 0–40 km beneath the TBR. We discover a large magma reservoir (with horizontal scale of ∼50 km and vertical scale of ∼15 km) in the middle-lower crust beneath the Tengchong volcanic zone, which is directly fed by hot materials from the uppermost mantle. We also detect a shallow magma chamber in the uppermost crust above the large reservoir. These magma reservoirs at different depths constitute a multiscale magma system. Furthermore, we observe a low-velocity belt beneath the Weixi–Qiaohou–Weishan and Nantinghe faults and postulate that it corresponds to lower crustal flow and hot mantle upwelling. Additionally, we infer that two M > 7.0 earthquakes that have occurred in Baoshan block nucleated in the transition zone between low- and high-velocity anomalies. Based on the azimuthal anisotropy tomography results, we consider that incoherent deformation in the crust causes the uneven accumulation of stress, which facilitated the occurrence of these two events. The 2021 Ms 6.4 Yangbi earthquake also occurred in the transition zone between low- and high-velocity anomalies. Based on the P-wave velocity tomography results, we suggest that hot material decreases the fault strength and leads to the instability of the fault.

Multidisciplinary - Abstract
The Hankel transform is widely used to solve various engineering and physics problems, such as the representation of electromagnetic field components in the medium, the representation of dynamic stress intensity factors, vibration of axisymmetric infinite membrane and displacement intensity factors which all involve this type of integration. However, traditional numerical integration algorithms cannot be used due to the high oscillation characteristics of the Bessel function, so it is particularly important to propose a high precision and efficient numerical algorithm for calculating the integral of high oscillation. In this paper, the improved Gaver-Stehfest (G-S) inverse Laplace transform method for arbitrary real-order Bessel function integration is presented by using the asymptotic characteristics of the Bessel function and the accumulation of integration, and the optimized G-S coefficients are given. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by numerical examples. Compared with the linear transformation accelerated convergence algorithm, it shows that the G-S inverse Laplace transform method is suitable for arbitrary real order Hankel transform, and the time consumption is relatively stable and short, which provides a reliable calculation method for the study of electromagnetic mechanics, wave propagation, and fracture dynamics.
