Abstract The detection of landslide areas and surface characteristics is the prerequisite and basis of landslide hazard risk assessment. The traditional method relies mainly on manual field identification, and discrimination is based on the lack of unified quantitative standards. Thus, the use of neural networks for the quantitative identification and prediction of landslide surface deformation is explored. By constructing an integrated model based on YOLO X-CNN and Mask R-CNN, a deep learning-based feature detection method for landslide surface images is proposed. First, the method superimposes Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) oblique photography data (UOPD) and Internet heterosource image data (IHID) to construct a landslide surface image dataset and landslide surface deformation database. Second, an integrated model suitable for small- and medium-scale target detection and large-scale target edge extraction is constructed to automatically identify and extract landslide surface features and to achieve rapid detection of landslide surface features and accurate segmentation and deformation recognition of landslide areas. The results show that the detection accuracy for small rock targets is greater than 80% and that the speed is 57.04 FPS. The classification and mask segmentation accuracies of large slope targets are approximately 90%. A speed of 7.89 FPS can meet the needs of disaster emergency response; this provides a reference method for the accurate identification of landslide surface features.

Abstract Background At present, hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is an important complication of partial hepatectomy and liver transplantation, and it is an important cause of poor prognosis. Spleen tyrosine kinase(SYK) plays an important role in a variety of signaling pathways in the liver, but its role in hepatic IRI is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the role and mechanism of SYK in hepatic IRI and tumor recurrence. Methods We first observed the activation of SYK in the liver of mice in response to hepatic IRI. Subsequently, Pharmacological inhibitions of SYK were used to evaluated the effect of SYK on neutrophil recruitment and NETosis, and further explored the effect of SYK on IRI and tumor recurrence. Results Our study shows that SYK is activated in response to hepatic IRI and aggravates liver injury. On the one hand, neutrophils SYK during the early stage of liver reperfusion increases neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) production by promoting Pyruvate kinase M2(PKM2) nuclear translocation leading to upregulation of phosphorylated STAT3, thereby exacerbating liver inflammation and tumor recurrence. On the other hand, macrophages SYK can promote the recruitment of neutrophils and increase the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and IL1β, which further promotes the formation of NETs. Conclusions Our study demonstrates that neutrophil and macrophage SYK synergistically promote hepatic IRI and tumor recurrence, and SYK may be a potential target to improve postoperative hepatic IRI and tumor recurrence.

Abstract It is important to study the bacteria that cause endometritis to identify effective therapeutic drugs for dairy cows. In this study, 20% oxytetracycline was used to treat Holstein cows (n = 6) with severe endometritis. Additional 10 Holstein cows (5 for healthy cows, 5 for cows with mild endometritis) were also selected. At the same time, changes in bacterial communities were monitored by high-throughput sequencing. The results show that Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and other common pathogenic bacteria could be detected by traditional methods in cows both with and without endometritis. However, 16S sequencing results show that changes in the abundance of these bacteria were not significant. Endometritis is often caused by mixed infections in the uterus. Oxytetracycline did not completely remove existing bacteria. However, oxytetracycline could effectively inhibit endometritis and had a significant inhibitory effect on the genera Bacteroides, Trueperella, Peptoniphilus, Parvimonas, Porphyromonas, and Fusobacterium but had no significant inhibitory effect on the bacterial genera Marinospirillum, Erysipelothrix, and Enteractinococcus. During oxytetracycline treatment, the cell motility, endocrine system, exogenous system, glycan biosynthesis and metabolism, lipid metabolism, metabolism of terpenoids, polyketides, cofactors and vitamins, signal transduction, and transport and catabolism pathways were affected.

Abstract The most widely adopted method for diagnosing respiratory infectious diseases is to conduct polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays on patients’ respiratory specimens, which are collected through either nasal or oropharyngeal swabs. The manual swab sampling process poses a high risk to the examiner and may cause false-negative results owing to improper sampling. In this paper, we propose a pneumatically actuated soft end-effector specifically designed to achieve all of the tasks involved in swab sampling. The soft end-effector utilizes circumferential instability to ensure grasping stability, and exhibits several key properties, including high load-to-weight ratio, error tolerance, and variable swab-tip stiffness, leading to successful automatic robotic oropharyngeal swab sampling, from loosening and tightening the transport medium tube cap, holding the swab, and conducting sampling, to snapping off the swab tail and sterilizing itself. Using an industrial collaborative robotic arm, we integrated the soft end-effector, force sensor, camera, lights, and remote-control stick, and developed a robotic oropharyngeal swab sampling system. Using this swab sampling system, we conducted oropharyngeal swab-sampling tests on 20 volunteers. Our Digital PCR assay results (RNase P RNA gene absolute copy numbers for the samples) revealed that our system successfully collected sufficient numbers of cells from the pharyngeal wall for respiratory disease diagnosis. In summary, we have developed a pharyngeal swab-sampling system based on an “enveloping” soft actuator, studied the sampling process, and implemented whole-process robotic oropharyngeal swab-sampling.

How the dorsal-ventral axis of the vertebrate jaw, particularly the position of tooth initiation site, is established remains a critical and unresolved question. Tooth development starts with the formation of the dental lamina, a localized thickened strip within the maxillary and mandibular epithelium. To identify transcriptional regulatory networks (TRN) controlling the specification of dental lamina from the naïve mandibular epithelium, we utilized Laser Microdissection coupled low-input RNA-seq (LMD-RNA-seq) to profile gene expression of different domains of the mandibular epithelium along the dorsal-ventral axis. We comprehensively identified transcription factors (TFs) and signaling pathways that are differentially expressed along mandibular epithelial domains (including the dental lamina). Specifically, we found that the TFs Sox2 and Tfap2 (Tfap2a/Tfap2b) formed complimentary expression domains along the dorsal-ventral axis of the mandibular epithelium. Interestingly, both classic and novel dental lamina specific TFs-such as Pitx2, Ascl5 and Zfp536-were found to localize near the Sox2:Tfap2a/Tfap2b interface. To explore the functional significance of these domain specific TFs, we next examined loss-of-function mouse models of these domain specific TFs, including the dental lamina specific TF, Pitx2, and the ventral surface ectoderm specific TFs Tfap2a and Tfap2b. We found that disruption of domain specific TFs leads to an upregulation and expansion of the alternative domain's TRN. The importance of this cross-repression is evident by the ectopic expansion of Pitx2 and Sox2 positive dental lamina structure in Tfap2a/Tfap2b ectodermal double knockouts and the emergence of an ectopic tooth in the ventral surface ectoderm. Finally, we uncovered an unappreciated interface of mesenchymal SHH and WNT signaling pathways, at the site of tooth initiation, that were established by the epithelial domain specific TFs including Pitx2 and Tfap2a/Tfap2b. These results uncover a previously unknown molecular mechanism involving cross-repression of domain specific TFs including Pitx2 and Tfap2a/Tfap2b in patterning the dorsal-ventral axis of the mouse mandible, specifically the regulation of tooth initiation site.

The kink effect of gate-all-around (GAA) MOSFET has been experimentally validated by our GAA devices fabricated on a void embedded silicon-on-insulator (VESOI) substrate. In this VESOI GAA device, a consistent and favorable decrease in subthreshold swing (SS) is observed as $V_{\mathrm { d}}$ increases, which has rarely been reported in devices with other gate structures. In particular, the SS of the device reaches the minimum ~0.1mV/dec with no discernable hysteresis window at $V_{\mathrm { d}} {=} 4.5$ V under ambient condition. Further device simulation strongly confirms the unique role of the GAA controllability over the hysteresis-free kink process. These findings contribute to a better understanding of kink behaviors within GAA device for potential application.

Background & Aims: Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury is a significant complication of partial hepatic resection and liver transplantation, impacting the prognosis of patients undergoing liver surgery. The protein proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is primarily synthesized by hepatocytes and has been implicated in myocardial ischemic diseases. However, the role of PCSK9 in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the role and mechanism of PCSK9 in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods: We first examined the expression of PCSK9 in mouse warm ischemia-reperfusion models and AML12 cells subjected to hypoxia/reoxygenation. Subsequently, we explored the impact of PCSK9 on liver ischemia-reperfusion injury by assessing mitochondrial damage and the resulting inflammatory response. Results: Our findings reveal that PCSK9 is up-regulated in response to ischemia-reperfusion injury and exacerbates hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. Blocking PCSK9 can alleviate hepatocyte mitochondrial damage and the consequent inflammatory response mediated by ischemia-reperfusion. Mechanistically, this protective effect is dependent on mitophagy. Conclusions: Inhibiting PCSK9 in hepatocytes attenuates the inflammatory responses triggered by reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial DNA by promoting PINK1-Parkin–mediated mitophagy. This, in turn, ameliorates hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Coilia nasus are an important fish resource in the Yangtze River, and the Yangtze River Estuary is a crucial migration pathway for them. In this study, we used otolith microchemistry to analyze the strontium/calcium (Sr/Ca) ratios and Sr contents in the sagitta otolith of C. nasus from the south branch (SB) and north branch (NB) of the Yangtze River Estuary and obtained the diversity of migration patterns and spawning ground distribution for C. nasus. The results indicate that C. nasus from both branches include two types of habitat history: freshwater (F)–brackish water (B) (Type I) and F-B seawater (S) (Type II), with Type I being dominant at 62.50% in both branches. The C. nasus from the SB comprise six migration patterns, while that from the NB has seven migration patterns. The C. nasus from both branches hatch in F habitats. At the time of capture, the C. nasus from the SB predominantly remain in F, accounting for 62.5%, while C. nasus from the NB primarily stay in B, accounting for 87.5%. Throughout the migration process, C. nasus from both branches switch between different habitats, with C. nasus from the NB exhibiting more frequent transitions between F and B, showing a greater reliance on the estuarine brackish habitat. The radius of the first blue region near the core (Lf) and freshwater coefficient (Fc) of the otolith for C. nasus from both branches are divided into three groups: long-distance freshwater dependence (LD), medium-distance freshwater dependence (MD), and short-distance freshwater dependence (SD), with the LD only appearing in the SB, while the NB is primarily represented by MD. There is a correlation between the differences in Lf among different groups of C. nasus and the differences in the distance from the spawning grounds of C. nasus in different sections of the Yangtze River to the estuary (DYRE), reflecting the distribution pattern of C. nasus spawning grounds in different sections of the Yangtze River. This study provides theoretical guidance for the protection of migration pathways and maintenance of spawning grounds for C. nasus, which have significant practical value in the precise management of C. nasus resources in the Yangtze River Estuary.

Understanding the mechanism of stress concentration effects on the surface of semiconductor substrate materials—silicon wafers—in Double-Sided Polishing (DSP) is particularly important for improving polishing quality. In this study, a two-dimensional finite element model is established to study the effect of contact state and stress concentration during polishing on edge roll-off (ERO) and polishing rate uniformity. The variation in this contact state is influenced by changes in wafer thickness and the gap between it and the carrier. The model is validated by experiments and helps to further analyze and interpret the experimental results, identifying six stages of contact states during the polishing process. The research indicates that the phenomenon of stress concentration at the edge of a wafer is caused by the pads creating a large amount of compression at the edge of the wafer. Additionally, there appears to be a threshold value during the polishing process, below which the stress concentration on the wafer changes, thereby altering the magnitude of edge roll-off and, ultimately, affecting overall flatness. This study provides a basis for optimizing the process design.

Abstract Background The placenta serves as the sole maternal organ responsible for transmitting nutrients to the fetus, playing a crucial role in supporting standard fetal growth and development. To date, only a small number of studies have investigated the impact of maternal gestational weight gain and lipid concentrations on placental development. This study aimed to explore the influence of weight gain during pregnancy and lipid levels in the second trimester on placental weight, volume, and the placental weight ratio. Methods This birth cohort study encompassed 1,358 mother-child pairs. Placental data for each participant was gathered immediately post-delivery, and the study incorporated data on gestational weight gain throughout pregnancy and lipid profiles from the mid-trimester. A linear regression model was employed to assess the correlations between gestational weight gain, mid-trimester lipid levels, and metrics such as placental weight, placental volume, and the placental-to-birth weight ratio (PFR). Results In the study groups of pre-pregnancy underweight, normal weight, and overweight, the placental weight increased by 4.93 g (95% CI: 1.04–8.81), 2.52 g (95% CI: 1.04–3.99), and 3.30 g (95% CI: 0.38–6.22) per 1 kg of gestational weight gain, respectively. Within the pre-pregnancy underweight and normal weight groups, the placental volume increased by 6.79 cm^3 (95% CI: 3.43–10.15) and 2.85 cm^3 (95% CI: 1.31–4.39) per 1 kg of gestational weight gain, respectively. Additionally, placental weight exhibited a positive correlation with triglyceride (TG) levels (β = 9.81, 95% CI: 3.28–16.34) and a negative correlation with high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) levels (β = − 46.30, 95% CI: − 69.49 to − 23.11). Placental volume also showed a positive association with TG levels (β = 14.54, 95% CI: 7.69–21.39). Conversely, PFR demonstrated a negative correlation with increasing HDL-C levels (β = − 0.89, 95% CI: − 1.50 to − 0.27). Conclusions Gestational weight gain was significantly correlated with both placental weight and volume. This association was especially pronounced in women who, prior to pregnancy, were underweight or of normal weight. Additionally, TG and HDL-C levels during the mid-trimester were linked to placental development.

Lotus corniculatus is an important perennial legume forage species and has been widely used to study the relationships between plants and rhizobia or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Composite plants (wild-type shoots with transgenic hairy roots) can be produced via genetic transformation mediated by Agrobacterium rhizogenes. The A. rhizogenes puncture method and a method of cutting embryonic roots and coating the hypocotyl incision with A. rhizogenes were used to induce hairy roots from seedlings. The identification of transgenic hairy roots from composite plants is also an important task. Here, young branches from adult plants were used as explants to produce composite plants instead of seedlings via the one-step cutting method in the natural environment. The results showed that the explants of young branches had higher transformation frequency than those of seedlings, and the composite plants obtained from the young branches had greater growth and were also more robust than the plants obtained from the seedlings. In this study, a system for the biosynthesis of betalains named RUBY was integrated into an expression vector as a reporter gene. It is very easy to distinguish transgenic roots from nontransgenic roots based on the red color of the hairy roots. Young branches were used as explants for hairy root transformation with higher transformation frequency than the seedlings. RUBY was used as a reporter gene to distinguish transgenic roots from nontransgenic roots based on the red color of the hairy roots.

Ovule abortion significantly contributes to a reduction in chestnut yield. Therefore, an examination of the mechanisms underlying ovule abortion is crucial for increasing chestnut yield. In our previous study, we conducted a comprehensive multiomic analysis of fertile and abortive ovules and found that ACS genes in chestnuts (CmACS) play a crucial role in ovule development. Therefore, to further study the function of ACS genes, a total of seven CmACS members were identified, their gene structures, conserved structural domains, evolutionary trees, chromosomal localization, and promoter cis-acting elements were analyzed, and their subcellular localization was predicted and verified. The spatiotemporal specificity of the expression of the seven CmACS genes was confirmed via qRT–PCR analysis. Notably, CmACS7 was exclusively expressed in the floral organs, and its expression peaked during fertilization and decreased after fertilization. The ACC levels remained consistently greater in fertile ovules than in abortive ovules. The ACSase activity of CmACS7 was identified using the genetic transformation of chestnut healing tissue. Micro Solanum lycopersicum plants overexpressing CmACS7 had a significantly greater rate of seed failure than did wild-type plants. Our results suggest that ovule fertilization activates CmACS7 and increases ACC levels, whereas an overexpression of CmACS7 leads to an increase in ACC content in the ovule prior to fertilization, which can lead to abortion. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that chestnut ovule abortion is caused by poor fertilization and not by nutritional competition. Optimization of the pollination and fertilization of female flowers is essential for increasing chestnut yield and reducing ovule abortion.

Abstract Background Liver metastasis is the leading cause of death in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Surgical resection of the liver metastases increases the incidence of long-term survival in patients with colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM). However, many patients experience CRLM recurrence after the initial liver resection. As an unavoidable pathophysiological process in liver surgery, liver ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury increases the risk of tumor recurrence and metastasis. Methods Colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) mouse models and mouse liver partial warm ischemia models were constructed. The levels of lipid peroxidation were detected in cells or tissues. Western Blot, qPCR, elisa, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, scanning electron microscope, flow cytometry analysis were conducted to evaluate the changes of multiple signaling pathways during CRLM recurrence under liver ischemia-reperfusion (IR) background, including SGK1/IL-6/STAT3, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation, polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cell (PMN-MDSC) infiltration. Results Hepatocyte serum/glucocorticoid regulated kinase 1 (SGK1) was activated in response to hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury to pass hepatocyte STAT3 phosphorylation and serum amyloid A (SAA) hyperactivation signals in CRLM-IR mice, such regulation is dependent on SGK-activated IL-6 autocrine. Administration of the SGK1 inhibitor GSK-650394 further reduced ERK-related neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation and polymorphonucler myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSC) infiltration compared with targeting hepatocyte SGK1 alone, thereby alleviating CRLM in the context of IR. Conclusions Our study demonstrates that hepatocyte and immune cell SGK1 synergistically promote postoperative CRLM recurrence in response to hepatic IR stress, and identifies SGK1 as a translational target that may improve postoperative CRLM recurrence.

Forward back biasing (FBB) technique is considered as a potential solution for aging compensation in silicon on insulator (SOI) MOSFET. However, traditional SOI devices under FBB would suffer from extra off-state leakage current $(I_{\mathrm{ off}})$ and undesirable static power consumption. In this work, we studied the hot carrier degradation and FBB compensation in $\pi $ -GAA- $\pi $ MOSFET. With the unique hybrid gate structure, the performance degradation is found to be less severe than pure $\pi $ gate device; and moreover it can be partially recovered by FBB without the sacrifice of $I_{\mathrm{ off}}$ . The presence of $\pi $ gates offer the back gate tunability that is not provided by pure GAA gate; while the GAA gate component can effectively prevent the impact of FBB from affecting the surface potential. Our findings in $\pi $ -GAA- $\pi $ hybrid gate MOSFETs would be beneficial for device reliability improvement.

Research regarding the use of Nano clay to remove toxic GO (Graphene oxide) from wastewater was limited. Through a variety of characterization techniques and methods, the adsorption performance and mechanism of Nano clay for GO were systematically studied. The related effects of solution pH, temperature, adsorbent dose, and GO concentration were studied in detail. The results show that the aggregation and deposition of GO on Nano clay depends on the pH value of the solution and the type and concentration of the electrolyte, and the isotherm data fits well with the Langmuir equation. Under the best conditions (pH=3.0), the maximum removal rate is 97.8% (C0=60 mg·L-1), and the adsorption capacity is 245.8 mg.g-1 (C0=80 mg.L-1, T=303K, equilibrium time=24 h, m=10 mg). Specifically, the dissolution of Nano clay at a relatively low pH or a high pH value helps the aggregation of GO. The results of this study provide key information for predicting the fate of GO in the land-water transition zone where Nano clay exists.

Background: Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) belongs to tumors of head and neck. Circular RNA circSLC7A11 functions as oncogenes in various tumors. However, the role of circSLC7A11 in LSCC remains largely unknown. Here, we aimed to clarify the circSLC7A11 function in LSCC. Methods: Relevance between circSLC7A11 expressions and LSCC clinicopathological was checked using chi-square. Relevance between circSLC7A11 expressions and LSCC patients' survival time was validated using Kaplan-Meier analysis. CircSLC7A11 expressions in LSCC tissues and cells were determined using quantitative real-time PCR. CircSLC7A11 functions in LSCC were examined by Cell Counting Kit-8, EdU analysis, Western blot, flow cytometry, sphere formation assay, and Transwell analysis. Meanwhile, circSLC7A11 mechanism in LSCC was determined using dual-luciferase reporter analysis, RNA pull-down, RNA Immunoprecipitation. Results: CircSLC7A11 was highly expressed in LSCC, and high circSLC7A11 expressions were interrelated to the TNM stage. Also, LSCC patients with high circSLC7A11 owned shorter overall survival. Functional studies revealed that circSLC7A11 knockdown reduced LSCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, stemness characteristics, and enhanced cell apoptosis. Mechanistic study data corroborated that circSLC7A11 targeted miR-877-5p, miR-877-5p targeted LASP1. LASP1 was negatively interrelated to miR-877-5p and was positively interrelated to circSLC7A11 in LSCC tissues. Also, circSLC7A11 knockdown reduced the LASP1 levels, and miR-877-5p inhibitor co-transfection reversed this reduction. Rescue assays further demonstrated that circSLC7A11 accelerated LSCC through miR-877-5p/LASP1. Conclusion: CircSLC7A11 exerted oncogenic functions in LSCC by miR-877-5p/LASP1, hinting that circSLC7A11 was a novel biomarker for LSCC.

Current-induced spin polarization or electric-field-controlled energy splitting shows great potential in the application of spintronic devices, such as spin–orbit torque devices, spin transistors, and so on. These mechanisms are often found in spin-split materials with strong spin-orbital coupling (SOC), which jointly trigger the Rashba, Dresselhaus, or Zeeman effect. The essential criterion to evaluate the strength of SOC is the spin-split energy. Thus, searching for bulk materials with large spin-split energy has attracted great interest. In this work, a high-throughput workflow was designed with the proposed three-point-spin-texture method, and 440 Rashba, 411 Dresselhaus, and 469 Zeeman-type candidate materials with large spin-split energy were screened out. Moreover, the spin-split energy of Rashba material KSnSb, Dresselhaus material TaSi2, and Zeeman-type material PtN2 achieve 0.19 eV, 0.82 eV, and 0.55 eV, respectively. This work significantly expands the materials database for spintronic devices and paves the way for further experimental research.

Polyamines have become important chemical components used in several integrated circuit manufacturing processes, such as etching, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), and cleaning. Recently, researchers pointed out that polyamines can be excellent enhancers in promoting the material removal rate (MRR) of Si CMP, but the interaction mechanism between the polyamines and the silicon surface has not been clarified. Here, the micro-interaction mechanisms of polyamines, including ethylenediamine (EDA), diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetramine (TETA), tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA), and pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA), with the Si(1, 0, 0) surface were investigated through molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using the ReaxFF reactive force field. Polyamines can adsorb onto the Si(1, 0, 0) surface, and the adsorption rate first accelerates and then tends to stabilize with the increase in the quantity of -CH2CH2NH-. The close connection between the adsorption properties of polyamines and the polishing rate has been confirmed by CMP experiments on silicon wafers. A comprehensive bond analysis indicates that the adsorption of polyamines can stretch surface Si–Si bonds, which facilitates subsequent material removal by abrasive mechanical wear. This work reveals the adsorption mechanism of polyamines onto the silicon substrate and the understanding of the MRR enhancement in silicon CMP, which provides guidance for the design of CMP slurry.

Chelating agents are commonly employed in microelectronic processes to prevent metal ion contamination. The ligand fragments of a chelating agent largely determine its binding strength to metal ions. Identification of ligands with suitable characteristics will facilitate the design of chelating agents to enhance the capture and removal of metal ions from the substrate in microelectronic processes. This study employed quantum chemical calculations to simulate the binding process between eleven ligands and the hydrated forms of Ni2+, Cu2+, Al3+, and Fe3+ ions. The binding strength between the metal ions and ligands was quantified using binding energy and binding enthalpy. Additionally, we explored the binding interaction mechanisms and explained the differences in binding abilities of the eleven ligands using frontier molecular orbitals, nucleophilic indexes, electrostatic potentials, and energy decomposition calculations based on molecular force fields. Based on our computational results, promising chelating agent structures are proposed, aiming to guide the design of new chelating agents to address metal ion contamination issues in integrated circuit processes.

The lack of high-spectral and high-resolution remote sensing data is impeding the differentiation of various fruit tree species that share comparable spectral and spatial features, especially for evergreen broadleaf trees in tropical and subtropical areas. Here, we propose a novel decision tree approach to map the spatial distribution of fruit trees at a 10 m spatial resolution based on the growth stage features extracted from Sentinel-1A (S-1A) time-series synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. This novel method was applied to map the spatial distribution of fruit trees in Maoming City, which is known for its vast cultivation of fruit trees, such as litchi, citrus, and longan. The results showed that the key to extracting information on the distribution of fruit trees lies in the fact that the fruit ripening and expansion period attenuates the information on the vegetation of fruit trees, a characteristic of the reproductive period. Under VH polarization, different fruit tree growth stage traits were more separable and easier to distinguish. The optimal features, such as Hv (high valley value of the 14 May, 26 May, and 7 June SAR data), Tb (difference between the 7 June and 14 January SAR data), Cr (high valley value of the 13 July, 25 July, and 6 August SAR data), and Lo (high valley value of the 23 September, 17 October, and 11 November SAR data), were constructed based on the optimal window. The thresholds for these features were set to 1, 1, 1.5, and 1, respectively. The classification model can effectively distinguish different fruit trees and extract distribution information with overall accuracy (OA) of 90.34% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.84. The proposed method extracts the spatial distribution information of different fruit trees more accurately and provides a reference for the extraction of more tropical and subtropical species.

Despite the dominance of bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filters in the high-frequency market due to their superior performance and compatible integration process, the advent of the 5G era brings up new challenges to meet the ever-growing demands on high-frequency and large bandwidth. Al1-xScxN piezoelectric films with high Sc concentration are particularly desirable to achieve an increased electromechanical coupling (Kt2) for BAW resonators and also a larger bandwidth for filters. In this paper, we designed and fabricated the Al1-xScxN-based BAW resonators with Sc concentrations as high as 30%. The symmetry of the resonance region, border frame structure and thickness ratio of the piezoelectric stack are thoroughly examined for lateral modes suppression and resonant performance optimization. Benefiting from the 30% Sc doping, the fabricated BAW resonators demonstrate a large effective electromechanical coupling (Keff2) of 17.8% at 4.75 GHz parallel resonant frequency. Moreover, the temperature coefficient of frequency (TCF) of the device is obtained as −22.9 ppm/°C, indicating reasonable temperature stability. Our results show that BAW resonators based on highly doped Al1-xScxN piezoelectric film have great potential for high-frequency and large bandwidth applications.

Abstract A novel junctionless gate‐all‐around (GAA) transistor with ultrathin nanosheet GAA channel and self‐aligned raised source/drain (RSD) is successfully designed and fabricated on void embedded silicon on insulator (VESOI) substrate through a much simpler fabrication process. Devices with as thin as 13‐nm nanosheet GAA channel thickness exhibit excellent electrical characteristics: on/off current ratio of 106 and on‐state drive current of 58 µA/µm. Although the parasitic planar channel component still exists, the device performance is decisively dominated by the GAA channel, and further boosted by the junction‐free bulk conduction mechanism and the self‐aligned RSD structure.

For HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer patients with the brain involved at initial diagnosis, there was no standard regimen before 2022 when the HER2CLIMB trial published its final overall survival analysis, and the prognosis is relatively poor under the current treatment strategy. We herein reported a case of a female patient who was initially diagnosed with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer with brain metastases, receiving pyrotinib and trastuzumab-based systematic therapy after palliative craniocerebral radiotherapy as the first-line systematic therapy. During the treatment, the tumor lesions showed obvious regression, and chemotherapy drugs were gradually removed from the regimen. The patient continued receiving trastuzumab and pyrotinib for HER2-targeted therapy. She had achieved more than 26 months of progression-free survival and the disease was stable during the evaluation in April 2022. Radiotherapy followed by dual HER2-targeted therapy of macromolecular monoclonal antibodies trastuzumab and micromolecular TKI pyrotinib plus chemotherapy could be an alternative option for this subtype of patients and need to be further verified by future clinical trials.

Abstract Liver fibrosis is a danger signal indicating a huge risk of liver cancer occurrence, but there is still no effective clinical means to regulate the progress of liver fibrosis. Although a variety of drugs targeting SYK have been developed for tumors and autoimmune diseases, the mechanism and specific efficacy of SYK’s role in liver fibrosis are not yet clear. Our studies based on chronic CCL4, bile duct ligation, and subacute TAA mouse models show that SYK in monocyte-derived macrophages (MoMFs) is fully dependent on phosphorylation of Erk to up-regulate the expression of Hif1α, thereby forming the crosstalk with SYK to drive liver fibrosis progress. We have evaluated the ability of the small molecule SYK inhibitor GS9973 in a variety of models. Contrary to previous impressions, high-frequency administration of GS9973 will aggravate CCL4-induced liver fibrosis, which is especially unsuitable for patients with cholestasis whose clinical features are bile duct obstruction. In addition, we found that inhibition of MoMFs SYK impairs the expression of CXCL1, on one hand, it reduces the recruitment of CD11bhiLy6Chi inflammatory cells, and on the other hand, it promotes the phenotype cross-dress process of pro-resolution MoMFs, thereby remodeling the chronic inflammatory environment of the fibrotic liver. Our further findings indicate that on the basis of the administration of CCR2/CCR5 dual inhibitor Cenicriviroc, further inhibiting MoMFs SYK may give patients with fibrosis additional benefits.

Micropeptides (microproteins) encoded by transcripts previously annotated as long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as important mediators of fundamental biological processes in health and disease. Here, we applied two computational tools to identify putative micropeptides encoded by lncRNAs that are expressed in the human pancreas. We experimentally verified one such micropeptide encoded by a β cell- and neural cell-enriched lncRNA TCL1 Upstream Neural Differentiation-Associated RNA (TUNAR, also known as TUNA, HI-LNC78, or LINC00617). We named this highly conserved 48-amino-acid micropeptide beta cell- and neural cell-regulin (BNLN). BNLN contains a single-pass transmembrane domain and localizes at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in pancreatic β cells. Overexpression of BNLN lowered ER calcium levels, maintained ER homeostasis, and elevated glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic β cells. We further assessed the BNLN expression in islets from mice fed a high-fat diet and a regular diet and found that BNLN is suppressed by diet-induced obesity (DIO). Conversely, overexpression of BNLN enhanced insulin secretion in islets from lean and obese mice as well as from humans. Taken together, our study provides the first evidence that lncRNA-encoded micropeptides play a critical role in pancreatic β cell functions and provides a foundation for future comprehensive analyses of micropeptide function and pathophysiological impact on diabetes.

Porous organic polymers containing macrocycles are promising adsorbents to remove organic micropollutants from water. However, it is still a big challenge to achieve the balance between economy and performance in real-world application. This study aimed at tackling this challenge by verifying the feasibility of dimethoxypillar[5]arene (P[5]) as a universal knitting crosslinker. Herein, four typical aromatic building blocks were selected and the corresponding P[5] knitted porous polymers with high cost-effectiveness were successfully obtained by a simple Friedel-Crafts reaction with all the yields in excess of 100%. We have demonstrated the significant roles of P[5] content and surface area on the adsorption kinetics and adsorption capacity, respectively. Specially, P[5] knitted 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene (P[5]-TPB) showed the superior adsorption performance among them. The thermodynamic studies certified the spontaneous and exothermic nature, while the mechanism studies revealed that hose-guest and hydrophobic interactions played fundamental roles in the adsorption process. The studies of flow-through adsorption and adsorption at environmentally relevant concentrations further displayed the superior adsorption performance of P[5]-TPB for practical application. The high cost-effectiveness combined with the excellent adsorption properties of P[5]-TPB achieved the balance between economy and performance, demonstrating great potential as promising adsorbent for real-world application. This work paves a way for the synthesis of cost-effective advanced porous polymers with host-guest property for versatile applications.

BBX (B-box) proteins play a vital role in light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis. PpBBX18 was an indispensable regulator for the induction of anthocyanin biosynthesis in the peel of red pear fruit (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai.). However, the upstream regulation of BBX genes has not been well characterized. In this study, PpZAT5, a cysteine2/histidine2-type transcription factor, was discovered as the upstream negative regulator of PpBBX18. The results showed that PpZAT5 functions as a transcriptional repressor and directly binds to the CAAT motif of PpBBX18 and inhibits its expression. PpZAT5 expression was inhibited by light, which is converse to the expression pattern of anthocyanin-related structural genes. In addition, less anthocyanin accumulated in the PpZAT5-overexpressing pear calli than in the wild-type pear calli; on the contrary, more anthocyanin accumulated in PpZAT5-RNAi pear calli. Moreover, the crucial genes involved in light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis were markedly down-regulated in the transcriptome of PpZAT5 overexpression pear calli compared to wild-type. In conclusion, our study indicates that PpBBX18 is negatively regulated by a C2H2-type transcriptional repressor, PpZAT5, which reduces anthocyanin content in pear. The present results demonstrate an upstream molecular mechanism of PpBBX18 and provide insights into light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis.

Path planning is an important part of the navigation control system of mobile robots since it plays a decisive role in whether mobile robots can realize autonomy and intelligence. The particle swarm algorithm can effectively solve the path-planning problem of a mobile robot, but the traditional particle swarm algorithm has the problems of a too-long path, poor global search ability, and local development ability. Moreover, the existence of obstacles makes the actual environment more complex, thus putting forward more stringent requirements on the environmental adaptation ability, path-planning accuracy, and path-planning efficiency of mobile robots. In this study, an artificial potential field-based particle swarm algorithm (apfrPSO) was proposed. First, the method generates robot planning paths by adjusting the inertia weight parameter and ranking the position vector of particles (rPSO), and second, the artificial potential field method is introduced. Through comparative numerical experiments with other state-of-the-art algorithms, the results show that the algorithm proposed was very competitive.

Changes in the composition and ratio of the flora during colitis have been found to potentially affect ovarian function through nutrient absorption. However, the mechanisms have not been fully explored. To investigate whether colitis-induced dysbacteriosis of the intestinal flora affects ovarian function, mice were given dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) through drinking water. High-throughput sequencing technology was used to clarify the composition and proportion of bacterial flora as well as gene expression changes in the colon. Changes in follicle type, number, and hormone secretion in the ovary were detected. The results showed that 2.5% DSS could induce severe colitis symptoms, including increased inflammatory cell infiltration, severe damage to the crypt, and high expression of inflammatory factors. Moreover, vitamin A synthesis metabolism-related genes Rdh10, Aldh1a1, Cyp26a1, Cyp26b1, and Rarβ were significantly decreased, as well as the levels of the steroid hormone synthase-related proteins STAR and CYP11A1. The levels of estradiol, progesterone, and Anti-Mullerian hormone as well as the quality of oocytes decreased significantly. The significantly changed abundances of Alistipes, Helicobacter, Bacteroides, and some other flora had potentially important roles. DSS-induced colitis and impaired vitamin A absorption reduced ovarian function.

The recognition of submarine cable magnetic anomaly (SCMA) signals is a challenging task in magnetic signal data processing. In this study, a multi-task convolutional neural network (MTCNN) model is proposed to simultaneously recognize abnormal signals and locate abnormal regions. The residual block is added to the shared feature backbone to improve the ability of the network to extract high-level features and maintain the gradient stability of the model in the training process. The long short-term memory (LSTM) block is added to the classification branch task to learn the internal relationship of the magnetic anomaly time series, so as to improve the network’s ability to recognize magnetic anomalies. Our proposed model can accurately recognize the SCMA signals collected in the East China Sea and the South China Sea. The classification accuracy and the ability to locate the abnormal regions are close to the manual labeling of human analysts. The newly developed model can help analysts reduce the probability of missing and misjudging submarine cable magnetic anomalies, improve the efficiency and accuracy of interpretation, and could even be deployed to an unmanned platform to realize the automatic detection of SCMAs.

6-Gingerol, the main active ingredient in ginger, exhibits a variety of biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities, and can affect cell development. However, the effects of 6-gingerol on mammalian reproductive processes, especially early embryonic development, are unclear. This study explored whether 6-gingerol can be used to improve the quality of in vitro-cultured porcine embryos. The results showed that 5 μM 6-gingerol significantly increased the blastocyst formation rates of porcine early embryos. 6-Gingerol attenuated intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation and autophagy, increased intracellular glutathione levels, and increased mitochondrial activity. In addition, 6-gingerol upregulated NANOG, SRY-box transcription factor 2, cytochrome c oxidase subunit II, mechanistic target of rapamycin kinase, and RPTOR independent companion of MTOR complex 2 while downregulating Caspase 3, baculoviral IAP repeat containing 5, autophagy related 12, and Beclin 1. Most importantly, 6-gingerol significantly increased the levels of p-extracellular regulated protein kinase 1/2 while reducing the levels of p-c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1/2/3 and p-p38. These results indicate that 6-gingerol can promote the development of porcine early embryos in vitro.

Trem2, a transmembrane protein that is simultaneously expressed in both bone marrow-derived and embryonic-derived liver-resident macrophages, plays a complex role in liver inflammation. The unique role of myeloid Trem2 in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is not precisely understood. Our study showed that in the early stage of inflammation induction after IR, Deletion of myeloid Trem2 inhibited the induction of iNOS, MCP-1, and CXCL1/2, alleviated the accumulation of neutrophils and mitochondrial damage, and simultaneously decreased ROS formation. However, when inflammatory monocyte-macrophages gradually evolved into CD11bhiLy6Clow pro-resolution macrophages through a phenotypic switch, the story of Trem2 took a turn. Myeloid Trem2 in pro-resolution macrophages promotes phagocytosis of IR-accumulated apoptotic cells by controlling Rac1-related actin polymerization, thereby actively promoting the resolution of inflammation. This effect may be exercised to regulate the Cox2/PGE2 axis by Trem2, alone or synergistically with MerTK/Arg1. Importantly, when myeloid Trem2 was over-expressed, the phenotypic transition of monocytes from a pro-inflammatory to a resolution type was accelerated, whereas knockdown of myeloid Trem2 resulted in delayed upregulation of CX3CR1. Collectively, our findings suggest that myeloid Trem2 is involved in the cascade of IR inflammation in a two-sided capacity, with complex and heterogeneous roles at different stages, not only contributing to our understanding of sterile inflammatory immunity but also to better explore the regulatory strategies and intrinsic requirements of targeting Trem2 in the event of sterile liver injury.

During the long-term storage of radioactive waste, the continuous generation of gas in the disposal area may influence the integrity of host rock. Thus, the investigation of gas migration and breakthrough in low-permeability rock is indispensable for the stability assessment. In this work, the pore space models of four potential host rocks (Boom clay, COx argillite, Opalinus clay, and Beishan granite) were generated via the binarization of the Gaussian random field. This method provides a randomly formed pore network that does rely on an initial definition of pore shape. The constructed models were analyzed and validated by using the mathematical morphology. A numerical calculation scenario of gas breakthrough on the basis of the Young–Laplace equation was proposed and applied. Results show that the gas breakthrough pressures are 2.62–4.11 MPa in Boom clay and 3.72–4.27 MPa in COx argillite. It enhances the idea that the capillary-induced gas breakthrough is possible at pressures lower than the fracture threshold. For Opalinus clay and Beishan granite, no connected pathway exists, and the breakthrough is more likely to occur through pathway dilation or fractures. The presented method has the advantage of experimental reproducibility and brings a new idea for the investigation of fluid migration in low-permeability rocks.

The further scientific applications of DMSP-OLS night-time light (NTL) imagery have been being limited by the accuracy, automation, and speed of radiometric intercalibration. In order to solve the aforementioned problems, this article is the first to propose a new least-median-of-squares (LMedS)-based power regression (LBPR) for automatically radiometric intercalibration and investigate the reasons for the optimal model of radiometric intercalibration, especially those based on the Taylor expansion and probability principle. NTL data in six regions all over the world, from 1994 and 1997 to 2007, were used as the test datasets. When the five kinds of LMedS-based radiometric intercalibration models (i.e., linear, quadratic, power, exponential, and logarithmic regression) are synthetically compared in absolute accuracy (adjusted RMSE) and running speed, it is concluded that the LBPR, which has the highest accuracy and preferable running speed, is recommended as the optimal method, which can also be used as a reference for other types of imagery preprocessing.

Difficulty in emotional regulation is significantly correlated with depression. Depression is a psychological disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health of college students. Therefore, it is of great importance to develop diversified preventive interventions such as group impromptu music therapy (GIMT). The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of GIMT on the improvement of emotional regulation ability and the reduction of depressive symptoms in college students. A 71 college students (36 in the experimental group and 35 in the control group) were recruited to carry out randomized controlled trial was used. The experimental group was intervened by GIMT. After the 4th week of intervention, follow-up and scale measurement were carried out. In the experimental group, emotional regulation difficulty scales (DERS) showed significant difference before and after GIMT, implying the improvement in the emotional regulation. But there was no significant improvement in the control group. In addition, the depressive symptoms of experimental group were relieved. All findings showed that GIMT can effectively improve college students’ emotional regulation and reduce depressive symptoms.

Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima), a species with recalcitrant seeds, is an important source of nuts and forest ecosystem services. The germination rate of recalcitrant seeds is low in natural habitats and decreases under conditions of desiccation and low temperature. The germination rate of cultivated Chinese chestnut seeds is significantly higher than that of wild seeds. To explore the reasons for the higher germination rate of cultivated seeds in Chinese chestnut, 113,524 structural variants (SVs) between the wild and cultivated Chinese chestnut genomes were detected through genome comparison. Genotyping these SVs in 60 Chinese chestnut accessions identified allele frequency changes during Chinese chestnut domestication, and some SVs are overlapping genes for controlling seed germination. Transcriptome analysis revealed downregulation of the abscisic acid synthesis genes and upregulation of the beta-amylase synthesis genes in strongly selected genes of cultivated seeds. On the other hand, hormone and enzyme activity assays indicated a decrease in endogenous ABA level and an increase in beta-amylase activity in cultivated seeds. These results shed light on the higher germination rate of cultivated seeds. Moreover, phosphatidic acid synthesis genes are highly expressed in seed germination stages of wild Chinese chestnut and may play a role in recalcitrant seed germination. These findings provide new insight into the regulation of wild seed germination and promote natural regeneration and succession in forest ecosystems.

The conversion of pig manure into organic fertilizer has become a research hotspot in agricultural engineering, and many types of pig manure processing machinery have been derived. The discrete element method (DEM) can be used in the research of pig manure processing machinery to study the interaction between pig manure and machinery, which makes the research more direct and accurate. In order to introduce the discrete element method into the research of pig manure processing machinery, a reliable parameter basis for discrete element simulation is necessary, taking the angle of repose (AoR) as the reference and based on the hertz-mindlin with JKR contact model and Plackett–Burman experiment design. Three parameters with significant influence on the AoR are screened out from nine parameters related to pig manure. By conducting Box–Behnken experiment design, the quadratic polynomial regression equation between the AoR and three significant parameters is established. According to the parameters predicted by the quadratic polynomial regression equation, the discrete element simulation of AoR is conducted. The simulation result of AoR (38.54°) is close to the experimental result (38.65°) with a relative error of 0.28%, indicating that the regression equation can predict the relevant parameters of pig manure according to the AoR.

The piezoelectric and elastic properties are critical for the performance of AlN-based 5G RF filters. The improvement of the piezoelectric response in AlN is often accompanied by lattice softening, which compromises the elastic modulus and sound velocities. Optimizing both the piezoelectric and elastic properties simultaneously is both challenging and practically desirable. In this work, 117 X0.125Y0.125Al0.75N compounds were studied with the high-throughput first-principles calculation. B0.125Er0.125Al0.75N, Mg0.125Ti0.125Al0.75N, and Be0.125Ce0.125Al0.75N were found to have both high C33 (>249.592 GPa) and high e33 (>1.869 C/m2). The COMSOL Multiphysics simulation showed that most of the quality factor (Qr) values and the effective coupling coefficient (Keff2) of the resonators made with these three materials were higher than those with Sc0.25AlN with the exception of the Keff2 of Be0.125Ce0.125AlN, which was lower due to the higher permittivity. This result demonstrates that double-element doping of AlN is an effective strategy to enhance the piezoelectric strain constant without softening the lattice. A large e33 can be achieved with doping elements having d-/f- electrons and large internal atomic coordinate changes of du/dε. The doping elements–nitrogen bond with a smaller electronegativity difference (ΔEd) leads to a larger elastic constant C33.

Aluminum scandium nitride (Al1−xScxN) film has drawn considerable attention owing to its enhanced piezoelectric response for micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) applications. Understanding the fundamentals of piezoelectricity would require a precise characterization of the piezoelectric coefficient, which is also crucial for MEMS device design. In this study, we proposed an in situ method based on a synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) system to characterize the longitudinal piezoelectric constant d33 of Al1−xScxN film. The measurement results quantitatively demonstrated the piezoelectric effect of Al1−xScxN films by lattice spacing variation upon applied external voltage. The as-extracted d33 had a reasonable accuracy compared with the conventional high over-tone bulk acoustic resonators (HBAR) devices and Berlincourt methods. It was also found that the substrate clamping effect, leading to underestimation of d33 from in situ synchrotron XRD measurement while overestimation using Berlincourt method, should be thoroughly corrected in the data extraction process. The d33 of AlN and Al0.9Sc0.1N obtained by synchronous XRD method were 4.76 pC/N and 7.79 pC/N, respectively, matching well with traditional HBAR and Berlincourt methods. Our findings prove the in situ synchrotron XRD measurement as an effective method for precise piezoelectric coefficient d33 characterization.

Citrus honey (CH) is rich in nutrients that have a wide variety of biological functions, such as antibacterial, anti–inflammatory, and antioxidant activities, and which demonstrate therapeutic properties, such as anti–cancer and wound–healing abilities. However, the effects of CH on alcohol–related liver disease (ALD) and the intestinal microbiota remain unknown. This study aimed to determine the alleviating effects of CH on ALD and its regulatory effects on the gut microbiota in mice. In total, 26 metabolites were identified and quantified in CH, and the results suggested that the primary metabolites were abscisic acid, 3,4–dimethoxycinnamic acid, rutin, and two markers of CH, hesperetin and hesperidin. CH lowered the levels of aspartate aminotransferase, glutamate aminotransferase, and alcohol–induced hepatic edema. CH could promote the proliferation of Bacteroidetes while reducing the abundance of Firmicutes. Additionally, CH also showed some inhibitory effects on the growth of Campylobacterota and Turicibacter. CH enhanced the secretion of short–chain fatty acids (SCFAs), such as acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, and valeric acid. Given its alleviating functions in liver tissue damage and its regulatory effects on the gut microbiota and SCFAs, CH could be a promising candidate for the therapeutic treatment of ALD.

The ion exchange membrane of the Nafion series widely used in vanadium flow batteries (VFBs) is characterized by its high cost and high vanadium permeability, which limit the further commercialization of VFBs. Herein, a thin composite membrane enabled by a low-cost microporous polyethylene (PE) substrate and perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) resin is proposed to reduce the cost of the membrane. Meanwhile, the rigid PE substrate limits the swelling of the composite membrane, which effectively reduces the penetration of vanadium ions and improves the ion selectivity of the composite membrane. Benefiting from such a rational design, a VFB assembled with the PE/PFSA composite membrane exhibited a higher coulombic efficiency (CE ≈ 96.8%) compared with commercial Nafion212 at 200 mA cm−2. Significantly, the energy efficiency maintained stability within 200 cycles with a slow decay rate. In practical terms, the thin PE/PFSA composite membrane with low cost and high ion selectivity can make an ideal membrane candidate in VFBs.

The accurate estimation of leaf chlorophyll content (LCC) is a significant foundation in assessing litchi photosynthetic activity and possible nutrient status. Hyperspectral remote sensing data have been widely used in agricultural quantitative monitoring research for the non-destructive assessment of LCC. Variable selection approaches are crucial for analyzing high-dimensional datasets due to the high danger of overfitting, time-intensiveness, or substantial computational requirements. In this study, the performance of five machine learning regression algorithms (MLRAs) was investigated based on the hyperspectral fractional order derivative (FOD) reflection of 298 leaves together with the variable combination population analysis (VCPA)-genetic algorithm (GA) hybrid strategy in estimating the LCC of Litchi. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (r) between the 0.8-order derivative spectrum and LCC had the highest correlation coefficients (r = 0.9179, p < 0.01). The VCPA-GA hybrid strategy fully utilizes VCPA and GA while compensating for their limitations based on a large number of variables. Moreover, the model was developed using the selected 14 sensitive bands from 0.8-order hyperspectral reflectance data with the lowest root mean square error in prediction (RMSEP = 5.04 μg·cm−2). Compared with the five MLRAs, validation results confirmed that the ridge regression (RR) algorithm derived from the 0.2 order was the most effective for estimating the LCC with the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.88), mean absolute error (MAE = 3.40 μg·cm−2), root mean square error (RMSE = 4.23 μg·cm−2), and ratio of performance to inter-quartile distance (RPIQ = 3.59). This study indicates that a hybrid variable selection strategy (VCPA-GA) and MLRAs are very effective in retrieving the LCC through hyperspectral reflectance at the leaf scale. The proposed methods could further provide some scientific basis for the hyperspectral remote sensing band setting of different platforms, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and satellite.

Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS), or guanosine triphosphatase KRAS, is a proto-oncogene that encodes the small guanosine triphosphatase transductor protein. Previous studies have found that KRAS can promote cytokine secretion, cell chemotaxis, and survival. However, its effects on milk fat synthesis in bovine mammary epithelial cells are unclear. In this study, the effects of KRAS inhibition on cell metabolism, autophagy, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial function, and lipid composition as well as the potential mechanisms were detected in an immortalized dairy cow mammary epithelial cell line (MAC-T). The results showed that inhibition of KRAS changed the lipid composition (especially the triglyceride level), mitochondrial functions, autophagy, and endoplasmic reticulum stress in cells. Moreover, KRAS inhibition regulated the levels of the mammalian target of rapamycin and mitogen-activated protein kinase (extracellular regulated protein kinases, c-Jun N-terminal kinases, p38) activation. These results indicated that regulation of KRAS would affect the synthesis and composition of milk fat. These results are also helpful for exploring the synthesis and secretion of milk fat at the molecular level and provide a theoretical basis for improving the percentage of fat in milk and the yield of milk from cows.

Lifetime optimization is one of the key issues among the many challenges of wireless sensor networks. The introduction of a small number of high-performance relay nodes can effectively improve the quality of the network services. However, how to deploy these nodes reasonably to fully enhance the network lifetime becomes a very difficult problem. In this study, a modified and enhanced Artificial Bee Colony is proposed to maximize the lifetime of a two-tiered wireless sensor network by optimal deployment of relay nodes. First, the dimension of the problem is introduced into the candidate search equation and the local search is adjusted according to the fitness of the problem and number of iterations, which helps to balance the exploration and exploitation ability of the algorithm. Second, in order to prevent the algorithm from falling into local convergence, a dynamic search balance strategy is proposed instead of the scout bee phase in the original Artificial Bee Colony. Then, a feasible solution formation method is proposed to ensure that the relay nodes can form the upper-layer backbone of the network. Finally, we employ this algorithm on a test dataset obtained from the literature. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm for two-tiered wireless sensor network lifetime optimization can obtain higher and stable average network lifetime and more reasonable relay node deployment compared to other classical and state-of-the-art algorithms, verifying the competitive performance of the proposed algorithm.

Fabrication of wafer-scale nanogratings for X-ray spectroscopy is difficult especially for very high line densities. The authors use vacancy epitaxy to fabricate sub-50-nm-periodicity gratings, coated with multilayers for efficient operation, for use in ultra-high resolution x-ray spectroscopy.

We present a novel T-shaped tunneling field-effect transistor (TFET) on Si-on-insulator (SOI). The asymmetric source-drain structure can effectively suppress the ambipolar switching. The on-current ( $\text{I}_{\mathrm{ on}}$ )/off-current ( $\text{I}_{\mathrm{ off}}$ ) ratio reaches very high value of $\sim 10^{8}$ at $\text{V}_{\mathrm{ ds}}= - 0.5$ V with a smaller tunneling junction width at the drain. The innovative T-shape design allows integration of both TFET and metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET) operation modes in one structure. Both TFET and MOSFET operation modes are experimentally demonstrated in this device structure, which provide the implementation of the selector function with the single device.

Abstract The energy band alignment at the multilayer-MoS2/ZrO2 interface and the effects of CHF3 plasma treatment on the band offset were explored using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The valence band offset (VBO) and conduction band offset (CBO) for the MoS2 /ZrO2 sample is about 1.87 eV and 2.49 eV, respectively. While the VBO was enlarged by about 0.75 eV for the sample with CHF3 plasma treatment, which is attributed to the up-shift of Zr 3d core level. The calculation results demonstrated that F atoms have strong interactions with Zr atoms, and the valence band energy shift for the d-orbital of Zr atoms is about 0.76 eV, in consistent with the experimental result. This interesting finding encourages the application of ZrO2 as gate materials in MoS2-based electronic devices and provides a promising way to adjust the band alignment.

Honey produced from medicinal plants holds great promise for human health. Increasing evidence suggests that the gut microbiota plays an important role in liver pathology after alcohol intake. The aim of this study was to identify the polyphenol composition of triadica cochinchinensis honey (TCH), and to study the potential effect of honey polyphenols on the regulation of gut microbes in mice with alcohol-induced liver injury and the improvement of alcohol-induced liver disease. For these purposes, a total of 190 compounds were identified and 27 of them were quantified by ultraperformance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q/TOF-MS) and we successfully established a mouse model of alcohol-induced liver injury. The results show that TCH polyphenols can significantly restore the levels of ALT and AST, and TCH intervention can significantly improve the pathological changes of liver tissue in alcohol-exposed mice. Additionally, a significant decrease was observed in Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes after TCH treatment. Moreover, KEGG pathways of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, two-component system and biosynthesis of amino acids enriched the most differentially expressed genes after TCH intervention for 8 weeks. Our results may have important implications for the use of TCH as a functional food component with potential therapeutic utility against alcohol-induced liver disease.

Chlorophyllum molybdites is a kind of common poisonous mushroom in China that is widely distributed in different areas. Food poisoning caused by accidentally eating C. molybdites has become more frequent in recent years. In 2019, there were 55 food poisoning incidents caused by eating this mushroom in China. Mushroom poisoning continues to be a common health issue of global concern. When mushroom poisoning occurs, an effective, simple, and rapid detection method is required for accurate clinical treatment or forensic analysis. For the first time, we established a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay for the visual detection of C. molybdites. A set of specific LAMP primers was designed, and the specificity was confirmed against 43 different mushroom species. The LAMP method could detect as low as 1 pg of genomic DNA. Boiled mushrooms and artificial gastric-digested mushroom samples were prepared to test the applicability of the method, and the results showed that as low as 1% C. molybdites in boiled and digested samples could be successfully detected. The LAMP method can also be completed within 45 min, and the reaction results could be directly observed based on a color change under daylight by the naked eye. Therefore, the LAMP assay established in this study provides an accurate, sensitive, rapid, and low-cost method for the detection of C. molybdites.
