Electric thrusters are considered to be the most promising propulsion system of choice for space gravitational wave detection. However, the requirement of high accuracy and drag-free control results in significant challenges in thrust measurements. To better understand the thrust noise characteristics, this work proposes a time-frequency-domain method for thrust noise analysis, i.e., a scalogram method attained through wavelet analysis. Unlike the conventional Fourier transform method, it can provide 3-D relationships for the time-frequency and thrust noise. A free-state thrust measurement experiment identified that the environmental temperature produces the dominant impact in the thrust noise. During a 70,000 s measurement, even without thruster operation, the thrust noise increased from 0.3 μN/Hz1/2 to 19 μN/Hz1/2 as the environmental temperature increased from −1 °C to 3 °C. The corresponding frequency of peak thrust noise for the entire period tends to be the same of 0.1 Hz. Additionally, a Hall thruster thrust measurement experiment was conducted to verify the method's time-varying analysis capability for thrust noise. The complete time-frequency thrust noise variation throughout the entire operating process of a Hall thruster was observed. The results at different stages of thruster operation indicate that thrust noise has the greatest influence 150–300 s after ignition. This is because the thrust stand will take hundreds of seconds to reach thermal equilibrium after ignition. Another finding during the Hall thruster operation is that the 0.1 Hz frequency corresponding to the peak thrust noise is highly consistent with the frequency of peak thrust noise in the free-state thrust experiment. This reveals the fact that the 0.1 Hz frequency should be the dominant frequency for thrust noise caused by temperature drift in our thrust measurement system.

Superconductors have great advantages in power applications and it is of great significance for rapid measurement and real-time monitoring of AC loss. In this paper, a straightforward electrometric method for measuring AC loss was developed. The measurement method uses a high precision data acquisition (DAQ) device and an algorithm program based on the coherent detection theory. The DAQ device is responsible for capturing and converting analog signals of superconducting samples into digital signals, and the digital signals are processed by a developed algorithm program and the results of AC loss are displayed in real-time. This method directly extracts single-frequency signal components from a variety of mixed signals, which provides low-cost, compiled, and reliable approaches for AC loss measurement, not requiring lock-in amplifiers for signal processing. The AC loss test of a straight tape has been finished to verify the availability of the method and demonstrates its ability to respond quickly.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of the alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Betulinic acid (BA) has been reported to be effective in the attenuation of ALD; however, its role in ERS and associated stress-signaling pathways remains elusive. Here, we found that the BA pretreatment significantly reduced the alcohol-induced liver injury by decreasing the activities of serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, alleviating fat deposition and rupturing the ER in hepatocytes. Moreover, the protective effect of BA on ALD was associated with the inhibition of reactive oxygen species accumulation and ERS, accompanied by the downregulation of glucose-regulated protein 78 (Grp78), Grp94, phosphorylation-inositol-requiring enzyme 1α (p-IRE1α), and phosphorylation-protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (p-PERK), activating the transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP). Moreover, the alcohol-induced hepatocyte apoptosis was reduced, along with the downregulation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, caspase-12, caspase-3, and caspase-7, following BA administration. Additionally, the BA-mediated mitigation of alcohol-induced liver injury and deactivation of the ER pathways were the same with 4-PBA, an inhibitor of ERS, indicating that the protective effect of BA on ALD may be regulated by ERS-associated pathways. Collectively, BA is a potentially desirable agent for the ALD, which may reduce hepatocyte apoptosis by suppressing excessive ERS in the liver.

One of the most important aspects of clinical acupuncture practice, like diabetic gastroparesis, is the selection of suitable acupoints. Furthermore, it is critical to examine the therapeutic impact differences between distal and local acupoints, as well as the prescription of their combination. In this study, diabetic gastroparesis rats were treated by needling Zhongwan (CV12) and Zusanli (ST36), and then used Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography-CT (SPECT-CT) technology to assess the effects of promoting gastric motility. In addition, morphological observation, immunohistochemical examination, and biomarker assays, such as determination of growth factor 1, motilin, and ghrelin contents in serum samples, were performed to better understand the impact of certain various acupuncture treatments. All of the therapies improved the symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis rats, according to the findings. Stimulating these acupoints, on the other hand, can have a different therapeutic effect. In addition, needling local and distal acupoints together can have an antagonistic or synergistic impact on specific physiological and biochemical indexes such as gastric motility, ghrelin, gastrin, and growth factor 1, among others. Our findings demonstrated the benefits of acupoints and acupuncture in the management of diabetic gastroparesis, as well as a new insight into acupuncture therapeutics.

High-temperature superconducting (HTS) tape stacks have broad applications in magnetic levitation because of the uniform induced current distribution, good heat dissipation, and preferable mechanical properties. Configuration of the stack is one of the primary factors on the uniformity and strength of the trapped magnetic field. In this paper, the levitation characteristics, which are levitation force, stiffness, and rotational friction of four different YBCO tape stack configurations, were compared. It is observed from the experiments that there is an obvious influence of stack configurations on the levitation characteristics. The levitation forces gradually improve with the increase of tape pieces. While the module No.2 is an inclined stack, the levitation force is related to the inclination angle. Most of the tape stack modules can give low loss rotation in levitation, and the magnitude of the friction coefficient is close to 10− 6. By the investigation of levitation characteristics, the tape stack has great potential for the bearing application.

This work reports the synthesis, radiolabeling and imaging studies of iodine-124 labeled peptide modified gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) as positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for lung cancer. The novel modified Au nanoclusters were successfully synthesized by conjugation of tumortargeting peptide luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) to human serum albumin (HAS) as a scaffold, resulting in 73% labeling yield of 124I-LHRH-HSA AuNCs. After rapid purification, the radiochemical purity was above 98%. Dynamic PET study in normal rats showed high liver accumulation and rapid lung clearance. Both the PET and fluorescence imaging in A549 xenografted tumor model demonstrated certain amount of tumor uptake. In orthotopic lung cancer model, the tumor sites could be clearly visualized between 2 to 5 hours in PET images. The higher radioactivity concentration in the left lung which inoculated orthotopic tumor than right lung also exhibited the targeting properties. The biological properties of this iodine-124 labeled nanoclusters afford potential applications for early diagnosis of lung cancer with PET.

Accurate diagnosis of cancer at an early stage is the key to reduce cancer mortality and improve survival. PET imaging has high sensitivity but low spatial resolution, while CT imaging has good spatial location information. Therefore, the combination of PET and CT imaging can provide complementary advantages to achieve accurate early diagnosis of tumors. The development of rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) coated conductors with an extremely high critical current density under ultra-high fields opens up a high-field path towards large-scale fusion. The latest technology has inspired cable-in-conduit conductors such as conductor on round core wires, twisted stacked tape conductor cables and Rutherford cables with outstanding current-carrying capacities. In order to realise an inductance balance and decrease magnetic diffusion, these cables have been twisted or folded to a certain extent, thus breaking the mechanical behaviour of the ceramic superconductor and limiting their potential for ultra-high-field applications. One possible solution is to employ a non-twisted cable, which offers maximum protection of its mechanical properties and enables a parallel orientation of the toroidal field vector to the surface of REBCO coated conductors, and at the same time decreases the influence of perpendicular fields on the critical current of REBCO cables. However, the applied physics community’s attitude towards using non-twisted, parallel REBCO stacked-tape cables is one of scepticism, the main argument being that the nonlinear E–J behaviour associated with screening current in the parallel stack might lead to a field distortion and reduce the performance of superconductivity. Recent analyses have demonstrated that the effect of screening current decreases significantly owing to a wavelike magnetic field distribution along the cable. The authors obtained similar results using H-formulation and T–A formulation based finite element methods and demonstrated that the non-twisted cable may be feasible for DC current transmission toroidal field coils in magnetic-confinement devices. Furthermore, the electromechanical behaviour of toroidal field coils has been evaluated via the Maxwell stress, solved by using an A–V formulation. It was discovered that the stress generated by the toroidal field coils is within the stress tolerance of the REBCO coated conductor, something which is of great significance in promoting the application of REBCO coated conductors for ultra-high-field magnetic-confinement plasma devices.

Traditional photodynamic therapy (PDT) requires external light excitation to produce reactive oxygen species (ROSs) for the treatment of tumors. Due to problems of light penetration, traditional PDT is limited by the location and depth of the tumor. In this study, we rationally designed and constructed a novel strategy to amplify the therapeutic effect of PDT. We prepared a chlorin-lipid nanovesicle based on the conjugates of chlorin e6 (Ce 6) and phospholipids, with the surface conjugating the aptamer for lung cancer targeting, GLT21.T. 131I-labeled bovine serum albumin (131I-BSA) was loaded into the chlorin-lipid nanovesicle cavity (131I-BSA@LCN-Apt). 131I not only plays a role in radiotherapy, but its Cerenkov radiation (CR), as an internal light source, can also stimulate Ce6 to produce ROSs without external light excitation. The in vitro and in vivo therapeutic effects in subcutaneous lung tumor models and orthotopic lung tumor models indicated that 131I-BSA@LCN-Apt produced a powerful anti-tumor effect through synergistic radiotherapy and CR-PDT, which almost caused complete tumor growth regression. After treatment, the survival time of the mice was significantly prolonged. During the treatment, no obvious side effects were found by histopathology of important organs, hematology and biochemistry analysis except the decrease of the white blood cell count (WBC). The study provides a major tool for deep-seated tumors to obtain amplified therapeutic effects by synergistic radiotherapy and CR-PDT without the use of any external light source.

A superconducting flux-pinned docking interface (FPDI) offers an important approach to spacecraft assembly, reconfiguration, and short-range formation flying. Although the self-capture ability was primarily presented, the flux-pinned interaction usually shows poor damping behavior, which does not benefit the vibration suppression of the superconducting interface structure subject to external excitation. In this paper, four superconductor structures including composite superconductor structures are proposed to analyze the dynamic process and self-stability of FPDI module. The effect of composite superconductor structures on the docking performance of the module under different field cooling (FC) conditions was investigated. After the FPDI module was in formation, an identical external disturbance was applied to the module to investigate its self-stability under the same FC magnetization condition. Calculating and comparing the damping ratio in different superconductor structures, we found that the FPDI module composed of the composite superconductor structure shows more extraordinary damping properties and self-stability characteristic than that using the conventional superconductor structure.

High power density superconducting motors require magnets with high and uniform magnetic flux density as poles. HTS taped stacks have uniform superconducting current distribution properties, better thermal conductivity, and preferable mechanical properties. They are considered as feasible allocations to the superconducting machine. In order to explore the factors that affect the trapped field homogeneity of taped stacks, the trapped field of an HTS knitted tape stack under field cooling magnetization has been investigated by experiments and simulation in this paper. The relationships between the trapped field and the induced current distribution, the magnetization field distribution, and the demagnetization rate have been studied experimentally. Due to the uniqueness of the sample, the relationship between layers and the trapped field of taped stack has been investigated by simulation, which was promoted by using the E-J constitutive law together with a T-A formulation to calculate the electromagnetic properties of the taped stack in a three-dimensional stack model. Results show that the flow of induced current in the taped stack does not form a current circle but stay in the induction region. The shape of the trapped field of the tapped stack is influenced by the magnetization field to some extent. Increasing the number of layers and decreasing the rate of demagnetization are beneficial to increasing the trapped field of taped stacks, but they do not play a decisive role in building the shape of the trapped field in taped stacks.

The level of the fault current is enlarged against the capacity of conventional circuit breaks in some urban power grids with the rapid increase of power load. Thus, a high-temperature superconducting fault current limiter (HT SFCL) has been suggested to provide effective and reliable protection of power devices against fault currents. This paper deals with the design of a prototype hybrid SFCL, which is integrated by a double-split reactor with asymmetric noninductively wound copper windings and a noninductive HTS magnet in series to one branch of the reactor. There is a fast switch in series to the magnet as well. The role of non-inductive magnet is for reducing the fault current in the first swing and the double-split reactor further decreases the fault current. The noninductive HTS unit is designed based on the magneto-thermal coupled model. A noninductive superconducting unit prototype is constructed using a YBCO-coated conductor and is immersed in the liquid nitrogen. A high-speed Data Acquisition System of National Instruments based on LABVIEW is built. The critical current and current impact performance for this prototype under the operating temperature of 77 K are investigated experimentally. The experimental results validate the current limiting effectiveness of the noninductive unit for the SFCL with bias magnetic field.

Benefited from the combination of Messiner effect and flux pinning, a permanent magnet (PM) can give the self-stable levitation above a bulk superconductor. The phenomenon provides the basic principle of superconductors in wide applications such as HTS maglev trains and superconducting flywheel systems. When the superconductor works under some conditions without the flux pinning (for example zero-field cooling), the PM will show free motion along multi freedoms due to the full diamagnetism of superconductor. This paper investigated the drag characteristics of the PM moved above the diamagnetic plane spliced by superconducting bulks. The spliced diamagnetic plane can get rid of the limitation of the size of the single superconducting bulk, and realize low-drag translational motion levitation in a large area. The article builds a multidimensional levitation force measurement device to measure the vertical force and lateral force of the PM translation when the superconducting plane works at different temperature. It is found that the lateral force distribution in the PM translation shows with alternating peaks and valleys. The increase of the suspending air gap can reduce the lateral force fluctuation and realize low-drag translation. The translational lateral force has the smaller value at the center of a single superconducting block, and can be measured at the level less than 1 mN. The low drag characteristics bring the potential application of superconducting translational levitation in the low gravity ground simulation for attitude and orbit control experiments of satellites.

A rise in usage of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in commercial and civilian applications as a result of the recent advancement in manufacturing processes, communications, and networking technology led to the demand for access to non-segregated airspace. The steady development of UAS has created a dynamic environment moving at faster pace than manned aviation. In particular, there is an intense pressure on operations in very low altitudes where market is driven by new business models. Commercial UAS operators are expected to monitor weather, changes in airspace structure, avoid buildings and temporary obstacles, consider potential risks arising from the ground, and maintain separation from manned aviation. On the other hand, authorities are expected to monitor, and control unmanned aerial traffic as well as enforce the airspace rules. To address this arising requirements unmanned traffic management is being developed and deployed in numerous countries, which aims to enable safe and efficient operations of highly automated UAS in automated unmanned traffic management (UTM) system developed on foundations of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet-of-Things, 5G networks while considering the need to address cybersecurity requirements. Among cybersecurity requirements a potential candidate with promising applications is blockchain technology, which is a distributed ledger of immutable records stored in a decentralized database. This paper discusses potential applications of blockchain technology that could support UAS operations and increase security in storing crucial flight data.

One of the praxeological problems of safe and sustainable air transport (airfreight transport/air cargo, and air passenger transport) is the prevention and management of risks by competent staff, with the support of modern information and communication technologies. This paper presents an educational information model and software for the airport network and information systems risk assessment, primarily intended for aviation education and training of professionals for ensuring safe and sustainable air transport. The solution to the problem is based on the application of the fuzzy logic method in the air transport environment. Based on a fuzzy expert model, the selected scenario, and the input data established separately for airport assets by a group of 23 experts from aviation practice and a university, the following three assessments of airport network information system assets were constructed: Asset A2 (meteorological information systems) has an insignificant risk with an estimated 0.1162, and assets A1 (air traffic control and management (ATM), navigational aids and approach) and A3 (runway monitoring system) received a low risk of airport network and information systems (NIS) security with ratings of 0.2623 and 0.2915, respectively. An airport NIS risk assessment was aggregated (0.2288), indicating a low degree of security risk to the airport&rsquo, s network and information systems. The aggregated risk assessment of airport NIS, including financial loss data, was calculated as 0.1438, representing a low degree of security risk to the airport&rsquo, s network and information systems. Scenarios for evaluating airport assets are changing for students during education. The results of the developed model and its software will be part of the Simulation Center of the Faculty of Aeronautics.

Induction coilgun can accelerate a high-temperature superconductor (HTS) projectile to higher velocity than a conventional projectile, because an HTS projectile can generate greater induced current by the premagnetized process and then obtain larger thrust in the launch process. In this paper, a numerical field model for the dynamic and electromagnetic characteristics of a single-stage induction coilgun is established, using the finite-element method. The electromagnetic force, muzzle velocity, and current density distribution of the aluminum projectile and the HTS projectile are studied, respectively. Then, the effect of magnetization on the characteristics of the HTS projectile during the launch process is considered. The result illustrates that magnetization brings a great improvement in the performance of the coilgun due to the higher induced current value in the HTS projectile. In addition, due to the limitation of the full magnetization state, the magnetization of the HTS projectile should be in a suitable range. The simulation work shows the potential of HTS projectile for future induction coilgun application.

The rapid development of industry results in large energy consumption and a negative impact on the environment. Pollution of the environment caused by conventional energy sources such as petrol leads to increased demand for propulsion systems with higher efficiency and capable of energy-saving and emission reduction. The usage of hybrid technology is expected to improve energy conversion efficiency, reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution. In this paper, the simulation platform for the hybrid unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been built by establishing the subsystem models of the UAV power system. Under the two chosen working conditions, the conventional cruise flight mission and the terrain tracking mission, the power tracking control and Q-Learning method have been used to design the energy management controller for the hybrid UAV. The fuel consumption and pollutant emissions under each working condition were calculated. The results show that the hybrid system can improve the efficiency of the UAV system, reduce the fuel consumption of the UAV, and so reduce the emissions of CO2, NOx, and other pollutants. This contributes to improving of environmental quality, energy-saving, and emission reduction, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of aviation.

Rotation losses at low frequency is very crucial to the microthrust stand depending on high temperature superconductors (HTS) maglev. HTS bulks arrays are sources of levitation forces and have an influence on declination angle of the levitation platform during rotation. Changes of declination angle can lead to variation of external magnetic field on HTS bulk arrays, which then affect rotation losses of the microthrust stand. An experimental setup has been established to investigate influence of HTS bulk arrays and eccentric loads on rotation losses. Space ratio is applied to describe the dispersion degree of HTS bulk arrays with different geometrical configurations. Experimental results show that Arrays with smaller space ratio help diminish rotation losses of the HTS maglev stand. Presetting eccentric loads with proper amount and initial circumferential angle could decrease rotation losses for arrays with smaller space ratio. For microthrust measurement using HTS maglev stand, HTS bulk arrays should be optimized to achieve lower rotation losses and better adjustability.

Simulation studies were conducted on the pulsed field magnetization (PFM) of (RE)BCO tape stack magnet by solving the E-J power law model using the commercial software. Two kinds of approximate methods are proposed for the two-dimensional axisymmetric computation of the stack magnet, which are based on the H formulation and can be used to alleviate computational challenges for the multilayer tape structure with high aspect ratio. In the investigation of electromagnetic-thermal coupled problem of the stack under the PFM, the current and magnetic field distributions in the stack magnet are analyzed exactly. The remaining field density has a close relation to the pulsed field parameters and thermal properties of the tape material and is also limited by the initial cooling condition of the stack magnet. Flux is trapped and then the saturation values of the trapped field depend on the condition of the field penetration. In the simulation, it is not clear that the tape stack is ensured to trap higher fields than a bulk superconductor though the (RE)BCO tapes have better thermal properties.

This work reports the synthesis, radiolabeling, and biological studies of 99m Tc-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA)-colchicine dimer in tumor-bearing mice. The novel colchicine dimer was successfully synthesized by conjugation of DTPA to 2 colchicine biomolecules. The ligand could be labeled by 99m Tc in high yield to get 99m Tc-DTPA-colchicine dimer, which was hydrophilic and stable at room temperature. Biodistribution and imaging studies in tumor-bearing mice showed that 99m Tc-DTPA-colchicine dimer accumulated in the tumor with improved uptake and retention. The results indicate the need for synthetic modification of the parent colchicine derivative and the 99m Tc-chelate with a view to improve the tumor-targeting efficacy and in vivo kinetic profiles.

Molten salt reactors have the potential to be employed as the power system for space exploration machines due to their advantage in the scale and power density. One essential technology associated with the reactor is the pump which circulating molten salts. Since the electric resistivity of molten salts is three orders of magnitude higher than ordinary metals, more compact magnetic fields are required to drive the molten salts to prevent their stagnation in the pipe. To solve this problem, a type of induction pump made of superconducting coils has been designed and analyzed in this article. Considering the large temperature difference between liquid molten salts and the operating temperature of superconducting coils, the pump stator has been specially designed to ensure the heat transfer efficiency in the system. Meanwhile, studies of induced current density of the molten salts have been carried out. Furthermore, driving force of the molten salt have been analyzed as well. Results show that the pumping system has feasible thermal insulation properties, perfect electromagnetic properties and better propulsion abilities, which illustrate its potential in the application field of molten salt reactors. In addition, analysis of the Multi-physics phenomena in this article lead to a better understanding of magneto–hydrodynamics and instabilities in the pump.

Melphalan (MFL) is a typical nitrogen mustard for the treatment of many types of cancer. For the purpose to develop novel 99m Tc-labeled tumor imaging agents with SPECT, MFL was directly labeled by 99m Tc using diethylene triamine pentacetate acid (DTPA) as bifunctional chelating agent. The novel ligands were successfully synthesized by conjugation of DTPA to MFL to get monosubstituted DTPA-MFL and bis-substituted DTPA-2MFL. Radiolabeling was performed in high yield to get 99m Tc-DTPA-MFL and 99m Tc-DTPA-2MFL, respectively, which were hydrophilic and stable at room temperature. The high initial tumor uptake with retention, good tumor/muscle ratios, and satisfactory scintigraphic images suggested the potential of 99m Tc-DTPA-MFL and 99m Tc-DTPA-2MFL for tumor imaging. However, the slow normal tissue clearance would be a great obstacle. Further modification on the linker and/or 99m Tc-chelate to improve the tumor targeting efficacy and in vivo kinetic profiles is currently in progress.

This work highlights the superiority of the surface-radiolabeling strategy over the core-labeling strategy in the assembly of radioactive iron oxide nanoparticle (IONP)-based nanocomposites for use in multimodal imaging and targeted therapy. It also implies a possible overestimation of the labeling stability in previous studies and points out directions for further optimization.

The decarbonization of transport and heating will introduce uncertain smart appliance growth in the power system, which fundamentally challenges traditional network pricing. In this paper, a new long-term distribution network charging is proposed to accommodate uncertain load growth. Instead of using fixed a load growth rate (LGR), it adopts a fuzzy model, developed based on a set of projected deterministic LGRs and confidence levels. This fuzzy model is incorporated into the pricing model through $ {\alpha } $ -cut intervals. In order to improve computational efficiency, an analytical pricing approach is introduced. The vertex extension approach is used to build charge membership functions. Thereafter, a common defuzzification approach, center of gravity, is employed to defuzzify membership functions in order to generate deterministic charges. The new approach is benchmarked with two existing standard charging methods on a practical U.K. high-voltage distribution system. Results show that it is effective in capturing the uncertainty in load growth.

Under the condition of field-cooling magnetization, the superconductor can trap magnetic flux and form a self-stabilizing state within it because of the flux-pinning effect. In most cases, the superconductor interacts with a magnet that is also used to magnetize the superconductor, and then, some self-stabilizing structure such as the magnet-superconductor suspension is achieved for application. However, in some actual applications, such as the space superconducting interface, the superconductor has to be magnetized by some background magnets and then interacts with other magnets, which is called premagnetization; hence, the self-stability between the magnetized superconductor and the interacting magnet should be different. To investigate self-stabilizing properties after premagnetization, an experiment is designed to study quasi-static force characteristics between a permanent magnet and an YBCO superconductor magnetized by a superconducting coil. Through comparing the experimental results in different premagnetization conditions, we found that the force characteristics in these conditions are obviously different because of the difference of the magnetic field distribution in the magnetized superconductor.
