Abstract China’s long-term sustainability faces socioeconomic and environmental uncertainties. We identify five key systemic risk drivers, called disruptors, which could push China into a polycrisis: pandemic disease, ageing and shrinking population, deglobalization, climate change, and biodiversity loss. Using an integrated simulation model, we quantify the effects of these disruptors on the country’s long-term sustainability framed by 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Here we show that ageing and shrinking population, and climate change would be the two most influential disruptors on China’s long-term sustainability. The compound effects of all disruptors could result in up to 2.1 and 7.0 points decline in the China’s SDG score by 2030 and 2050, compared to the baseline with no disruptors and no additional sustainability policies. However, an integrated policy portfolio involving investment in education, healthcare, energy transition, water-use efficiency, ecological conservation and restoration could promote resilience against the compound effects and significantly improve China’s long-term sustainability.

The magnetic immiscible copper matrix alloys are extensively industrial applications due to their comprehensive properties such as high strength, high conductivity, high thermal conductivity and excellent magnetic permeability. Here, we investigated the effects of the addition of Co and Al elements on the microstructural evolution of magnetic Cu–Fe alloys (CFAs) and comprehensive properties after annealing under the static magnetic field (SMF). The results show that the microalloying was effective in enhancing the mechanical and magnetic properties but negative for the electric conductivity. The addition of Co element significantly suppressed the grains recrystallization of CFAs during the annealing process and improved the thermal stability of CFAs. Al elements homogeneously dispersed in the sample. SMF facilitated the nucleation and precipitation processes of the secondary precipitated particles in the Cu-rich matrix through the introducing the extra magnetic Gibbs free energy and also promoted the structural transformation of the secondary precipitated particles from FCC to BCC. This work indicates that SMF can be effectively used to modify the magnetic materials with exceptional comprehensive properties during the solid state phase transformation process. It also provides valuable guidance for the development of novel materials with superior comprehensive performance.

Abstract Background Nowadays, the incidence rate of advanced and metastatic prostate cancer at the first time of diagnosis grows higher in China yearly. At present, androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the primary treatment of advanced prostate cancer. However, after several years of ADT, most patients will ultimately progress to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). Previous studies mainly focus on Caucasian and very few on East Asian patients. Methods In this study, the pre- and post-ADT tumor samples were collected from five Chinese patients with advanced prostate cancer. The whole-exome sequencing, tumor heterogeneity, and clonal evolution pattern were analyzed. Results The results showed that the gene mutation pattern and heterogeneity changed significantly after androgen deprivation therapy. Tumor Mutational Burden (TMB) and Copy Number Alteration (CNA) were substantially reduced in the post-treatment group, but the Mutant-allele tumor heterogeneity (MATH), Socio-Demographic Index (SDI), Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH), and weighted Genome Instability Index (wGII) had no significant difference. According to the clone types and characteristics, the presence of main clones in five pre-and post-treatment samples, the clonal evolution pattern can be further classified into two sub-groups (the Homogeneous origin clonal model or the Heterogeneous origin clonal model). The Progression-free survival (PFS) of the patients with the “Homogeneous origin clonal model” was shorter than the “Heterogeneous origin clonal model”. The longer PFS might relate to MUC7 and MUC5B mutations repaired. ZNF91 mutation might be responsible for resistance to ADT resistance. Conclusion Our findings revealed potential genetic regulators to predict the castration resistance and provide insights into the castration resistance processes in advanced prostate cancer. The crosstalk between clonal evolution patterns and tumor microenvironment may also play a role in castration resistance. A multicenter-research including larger populations with different background are needed to confirm our conclusion in the future.

Abstract Cystic renal cell carcinoma (cRCC) is uncommon and surgical indication remains controversial. We compared radical nephrectomy (RN) with partial nephrectomy (PN) in patients with cRCC using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database and a retrospective cohort including 106 cRCC patients hospitalized in Ruijin and Renji Hospitals from 2013 to 2022. Purpose: To externally validate the performance of the S-GRAS score and a model from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database in a Chinese cohort of patients with adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). Methods: We first developed a model using data from the SEER database, after which we retrospectively reviewed 51 ACC patients hospitalized between 2013 and 2018, and we finally validated the model and S-GRAS score in this Chinese cohort. Results: Patient age at diagnosis, tumor size, TNM stage, and radiotherapy were used to construct the model, and the Harrell’s C-index of the model in the training set was 0.725 (95% CI: 0.682–0.768). However, the 5-year area under the curve (AUC) of the model in the validation cohort was 0.598 (95% CI: 0.487–0.708). The 5-year AUC of the ENSAT stage was 0.640 (95% CI: 0.543–0.737), but the Kaplan–Meier curves of stages I and II overlapped in the validation cohort. The resection status (P = 0.066), age (P=0.68), Ki67 (P = 0.69), and symptoms (P = 0.66) did not have a significant impact on cancer-specific survival in the validation cohort. In contrast, the S-GRAS score group showed better discrimination (5-year AUC: 0.683, 95% CI: 0.602–0.764) than the SEER model or the ENSAT stage. Conclusion: The SEER model showed favorable discrimination and calibration ability in the training set, but it failed to distinguish patients with various prognoses in our institution. In contrast, the S-GRAS score could effectively stratify patients with different outcomes.

Processing metallic alloys under a static magnetic field (SMF) has garnered significant attention over the past few decades. SMFs can influence both the thermodynamics and kinetics of the solidification process by introducing extra force and energy. Eutectic-type alloys (ETAs) are commonly used as research materials under SMFs due to their featured microstructures. This review aims to present theoretical and experimental results regarding ETAs under SMFs, from post-analysis to in situ observation, to demonstrate the effects of magnetic phenomena such as magnetic braking, thermoelectric magnetic convection, magnetic gradient force, and magnetic energy on the thermodynamics and kinetics of microstructural evolution. In this paper, we adopt a hybrid approach between a review and an overview to comprehensively examine the effect of SMFs on the solidification process. Firstly, we provided a concise review of the historical research on the SMF’s impact on solidification in the literature. Next, we elucidated the basic physical principles of an SMF in material processing, followed by an introduction of numerous laboratory and industrial experiments that have utilized SMFs. Finally, we summarized the effects of SMFs on solidification in the past and provide insights into future research directions.

Abstract Multi‐sensor fusion recognition is a meaningful task in ISAR image recognition. Compared with a single sensor, multi‐sensor fusion can provide richer target information, which is conducive to more accurate and robust identification. However, previous deep learning‐based fusion methods do not effectively deal with the redundancy and complementarity of information between different sources. In this letter, we construct a shared hidden space to align features from different sources. Accordingly, we design an end‐to‐end deep fusion framework to fuse dual ISAR images at the feature level. For combining the multi‐source information, deep generalised canonical correlation analysis (DGCCA) is used as the loss item to map features extracted from dual input onto the shared hidden space. Moreover, we propose an efficient and lightweight spatial attention module, named united attention module, which can be embedded between dual‐stream convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to promote DGCCA optimisation by information interaction. Compared with other deep fusion frameworks, our model obtains the competitive performance in ISAR image fusion for classification.

The Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS), introduced by Yager, is a generalization of the intuitionistic fuzzy set. The PFS is of great significance for the decision-making problem because it promotes the domain of intuitionistic fuzzy set. This paper aims to conduct the consistency analysis and priority weights for Pythagorean fuzzy preference relations (PFPRs). First, a consistency index to measure the multiplicative consistency of Pythagorean fuzzy preference relation (PFPR) is presented. Then, for the non-consistent PFPR, an iteration algorithm is put forward to adjust it to achieve acceptable consistency. Furthermore, an absolute deviation model is built to derive the priority weighting vector of PFPR. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to test and verify the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.

PurposeOur primary aim was to present a combined technique to protect the anatomic integrity of distal urethral sphincter complex (DUSC) during minimally invasive radical prostatectomy (RP) and discuss its impact on urinary continence (UC) recovery. The second aim was to define the learning curve of the combined technique.MethodsWe conducted a non-randomized retrospective study. There were 314 consecutive patients who received RP by the same urologist surgeon with more than 2,000 prior cases in Shanghai Ruijin Hospital between March 2017 and April 2020. Included in this study were 263 patients with clinical T1–T2 stage. We modified a combined RP (Comb-RP) technique including endopelvic fascia no-incising technique, dorsal venous complex (DVC) no-ligation technique, intrafascial dissection technique, and anterior reconstruction technique so as to preserve the anatomic integrity of DUSC. The patients were assigned to two groups: a Comb-RP group and a conventional RP (Conv-RP) group. Continence rates were assessed every 3 months after removal of the catheter. UC was defined as 0 pad per day. Peri-operative variables of the patient including operation time, estimated blood lost (EBL), positive surgical margin (PSM), and postoperative complications were also collected. Scatter-graphs of learning curves were drawn using locally weighted scatterplot smoothing (LOWESS).ResultsRP was accomplished smoothly in all 263 cases. The pad-free UC rates in Conv-RP group and Comb-RP group were 17.3 vs. 27.8% (P = 0.048) at the removal of the catheter, 35.8 vs. 50.0% (P = 0.027) at 1 month, 60.5 vs. 76.1% (P = 0.012) at 3 months, 87.7 vs. 96.5% (P = 0.022) at 6 months, and 94.7 vs. 97.7% (P = 0.343) at 12 months. Kaplan–Meier analysis showed significantly higher and faster continence recovery in the Comb-RP group (mean 4.9 vs. 2.6 months, Log Rank P = 0.001). There was no significant difference in PSM rate between the Comb-RP and Conv-RP group (31.1 vs. 31.2%, P =0.986). The learning curves of peri-operative variables, oncological and functional outcomes achieved the lowest point or plateau at the 20th–60th cases.ConclusionsThe anatomic integrity and intact pelvic floor interplay of DUSC is important for its function. Our combined technique was a safe and feasible technique for improving early UC in RP with no significantly increased PSM rate and no significant difference in long-term UC.

The polarization and diffusion effects of landscape patterns are important features of megalopolis development. Under the urbanized effects, green space is a key spatial unit in delivering vital ecosystem services for sustainable urban planning. However, currently, fast urban developing is swamping the green space. In this study, by tracing landscape pattern changes of a fast-developing megalopolis, the Chengdu-Chongqing Megalopolis in the southeast of China, and using land-use data from 1980 to 2020, we aimed to determine the polarization and diffusion effects of the megalopolis and their impacts on the green space within and between the cities. We found that: (1) during the past four decades, spatial expansion of the megalopolis mainly occupied grassland and farmland, triggering an increase in landscape fragmentation; (2) based on socio-economic indicators, the spatial-attraction network analysis showed a significant polarization effect; however, based on the natural landscape, this analysis demonstrated a more scattered pattern; (3) importantly, the megalopolis developed at quite a similar pace, which caused the green rural area between the central cities demonstrating an encroached trend by the urbanization. To promote sustainability of the fast-developing megalopolis, we suggest that the boundary of the green space should be broadened to form a green network in which natural green space and urban green space are interconnected, improving the connectivity of habitats within the megalopolis for urban biodiversity. Our study implied that maintaining the green buffer shall be considered in advance for sustainable megaregional planning and establishing resilience of the fast-developing megalopolis.

The morphology of the solid-liquid (S-L) interface is crucial for the directionally solidified microstructures of various alloys. This paper investigates the effect of vertical high magnetic field (VHMF) on the morphology evolution of the S-L interface and the solidified microstructure during the directional solidification of Zn-2wt.%Bi immiscible alloy. The results indicate that the morphology of the S-L interface is highly dependent on the VHMF, resulting in various solidified microstructures. When the growth rate was 1 μm/s, the aligned droplets were formed directly at the disturbed S-L interface under a 1 T VHMF. However, the stability of the S-L interface was improved to form a stable Bi-rich fiber under a 5 T VHMF. When the growth rate was 5 μm/s, the S-L interface was changed from cellular to dendritic to cellular again with increasing magnetic flux density. A theory regarding constitutional supercooling and efficient solute diffusion has been proposed to explain the S-L interface transition under the VHMF. The difference in the effective diffusion capacity of the solute originates from the thermoelectric magnetic effect and the magneto-hydrodynamic damping effect. The present work may initiate a new method to transform the solidified microstructures of immiscible alloys via an applied magnetic field during directional solidification.

PurposeThis study aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of 18F-PSMA-1007 positron emission tomography (PSMA PET)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) imaging in patients with suspected or defined prostate cancer.MethodsIn the pilot study, we retrospectively investigated 62 patients who underwent PSMA-PET/MRI for suspected or defined PCa between June 2019 and June 2020. Patients were grouped into three subgroups: (1) suspected PCa without histological evidence, (2) primary PCa, (3) biochemical recurrent prostate cancer (BRPCa). Two nuclear physicians independently interpreted the results of PSMA-PET/MRI. Management strategies before PSMA-PET/MRI were retrospectively reported, and the management strategy was re-evaluated for each patient considering the PSMA-PET/MRI result. The changes in strategies were recorded. Besides, the correlation between prostate specific antigen (PSA) level and management changes was also accessed by Fisher exact test, and two-side p < 0.05 was assumed as statistical significance.ResultsThere were 28 patients in the suspected PCa group (group 1), 12 in the primary PCa group (group 2), and 22 in the BRPCa group (group 3). Overall, the intended decisions were changed in 26 (41.9%) of 62 patients after PSMA-PET/MRI, including 11/28 (39.3%) in suspected PCa group, 1/12 (8.4%) in primary PCa group, and 14/24 (63.6%) in BCR group. In group 1, the main impact on subsequent management included decreased active surveillance (from 20 to 9) and increased prostate biopsy (from 8 to 19). PSA levels were not significantly associated with management changes in suspected PCa patients (p = 0.865). In group 2, the main impact on subsequent management included decreased radical surgery (from 8 to 7), and multimodal therapy appearance (n = 1). Only in the category of PSA levels of ≥20 ng/ml, the management of primary PCa was changed. In group 3, the main impact on subsequent management included decreased salvage radiotherapy (from 5 to 2), increased systemic therapy (from 6 to 7), and increased multimodal therapy (from 11 to 13). Al-20wt.%Si hypereutectic alloys were designed in order to study how a high static magnetic field (HSMF) during annealing affected the microstructure evolution, atomic diffusion, and resultant mechanical properties from the microscale to the atomic scale. Our results indicate that the size of the primary silicon particles (PSPs) increased with increasing temperature, while it decreased with increasing magnetic flux density (MFD). The solid solubilities of the Al matrix were 0.84 wt% and 0.53 wt% for the ribbons annealed at 0 T and 8 T, respectively. HSMF decreased the precipitation rate of Al from the PSPs and retained the solute trapping effect in the PSPs during annealing. After annealing the ribbon, the Al matrix retained the lattice distortions under the HSMF. Applying a HSMF led to the coexistence of grain boundary strengthening, particle strengthening, dislocation strengthening, and solid solution strengthening, so the hardness and elastic modulus increased with increasing MFD. Compared with the ribbon annealed at 8 T, the ribbon annealed at 0 T had a hardness and elastic modulus improved by 139.47% and 1053.2%, respectively. This paper presents a new way to design heat treatments and even solidification processes for metallic materials by controlling their diffusion by applying an HSMF. RCS reconstruction is an important way to reduce the measurement time in anechoic chambers and expand the radar original data, which can solve the problems of data scarcity and a high measurement cost. The greedy pursuit, convex relaxation, and sparse Bayesian learning-based sparse recovery methods can be used for parameter estimation. However, these sparse recovery methods either have problems in solving accuracy or selecting auxiliary parameters, or need to determine the probability distribution of noise in advance. To solve these problems, a non-parametric Sparse Iterative Covariance Estimation (SPICE) algorithm with global convergence property based on the sparse Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD) model (GTD–SPICE) is employed for the first time for RCS reconstruction. Furthermore, an improved coarse-to-fine two-stage SPICE method (DE–GTD–SPICE) based on the Damped Exponential (DE) model and the GTD model (DE–GTD) is proposed to reduce the computational cost. Experimental results show that both the GTD–SPICE method and the DE–GTD–SPICE method are reliable and effective for RCS reconstruction. Specifically, the DE–GTD–SPICE method has a shorter computational time.

High static magnetic field (HMF) is now a widely used technique to tailor materials. However, as one of the most fundamental properties in liquid alloy melts, atomic diffusion under HMF still lacks understanding. By using a novel gravity-assisted automatic docking device, the interdiffusion coefficient (IDC) in liquid Al–Cu alloy at various temperatures has been studied under HMF. It is found that HMF reduces the IDC. When HMF is larger than 5 T, the value of IDC remains constant at a certain temperature, which indicates HMF changes the diffusion mechanism from convective dominated mass transfer to a diffusive limited state in the liquid melt. For various temperatures, we find that a decrease of the frequency factor of atoms is the main reason for IDC decreasing under a certain HMF. The diffusion mechanism in liquid melt is similar to the vacancy mechanism in solids. This work provides a deep insight for atomic diffusion in a liquid melt by considering the interaction between temperature and HMF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
