Two new benzophenone derivatives (

Two new benzophenone derivatives (1 and 2), named Pogonatone C and pogonatone D, were isolated from the moss Pogonatum spinulosum. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data analyses. The cytotoxicity of compounds for HepG2, HCT-116, A-549 and PANC-1 cells line was also evaluated by using the MTT method. Pogonatone C (1) displays high cytotoxicity on PANC-1 cell with IC50 value of 9.2 μM.

This study aims to compare the effects of feeding haw pectin (HP), haw pectin hydrolyzates (HPH), and haw pectin pentasaccharide (HPPS) on the cholesterol metabolism of hypercholesterolemic hamsters induced by high-cholesterol diets. The animals were fed a standard diet (SD), high-cholesterol diet (HCD), or HCD plus HP, HPH, or HPPS at a dose of 300mg/kg body weight for 4weeks. Results showed that HPPS was more effective than HP and HPH in decreasing the body weight gain (by 38.2%), liver weight (by 16.4%), and plasma and hepatic total cholesterol (TC; by 23.6% and 27.3%, respectively) of hamsters. In addition, the bile acid levels in the feces were significantly higher by 39.8% and 132.8% in the HPH and HPPS groups than in the HCD group. Such changes were not noted in the HP group. However, the HP group had higher cholesterol excretion capacities than the HPH and HPPS groups by inhibiting cholesterol absorption in the diet, with a 21.7% increase in TC excretion and a 31.1% decrease in TC absorption. Thus, HPPS could be a promising anti-atherogenic dietary ingredient for the development of functional food to improve cholesterol metabolism.

The values of density, surface tension, and refractive index were measured for a classic series of air and water stable ionic liquids (ILs) based on tetrafluoroborate, [Cnmim][BF4](n = 2,3,4,5,6)(1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) in the temperature range of (298.15 to 338.15 ± 0.02) K. In terms of Glasser’s theory, the standard molar entropy and lattice energy of the ILs were calculated. Using Kabo’s method, the molar enthalpy of vaporization of the IL, ΔlgHm0 (298 K), was estimated. According to the interstice model, the thermal expansion coefficient of ILs [Cnmim][BF4] (n = 2,3,4,5,6), α, were calculated, and in comparison with experimental value, their magnitude order is in good agreement. In order to study the erosion rate of the sandy coastal, and forecast the erosion station in the near future, a model of the coastal evolution had been established by one-line theory and the normal expressions of the Code of Hydrology for Sea Harbour of China, based on analysing the long-time evolution of the nature sandy coast in Hebei Province. It was proved to be true and reasonable after verifying the measuring data in 2000 and 2006, so it could simulate the evolution of the coastal line and forecast the erosion condition of the nature sandy coast during a long time. The results of the study show that the erosion scope would move towards to the south, and the region from Dapu river to Tazigou will be the center area of erosion by 2026. The conclusion can also be applied to the important gist in protecting and management of the nature sandy coast. The study uses the one-line theory on the evolution of natural sandy coastal erosion creatively, and also proposes the datas and ideas in the next research.
