The continental crust is strongly depleted in copper compared with its building blocks-primary arc magmas-and this depletion is intrinsically associated with continental crust formation. However, the process by which Cu removal occurs remains enigmatic. Here we show, using Cu isotopes, that subduction-zone processes and mantle melting produce limited fractionation of Cu isotopes in arc magmas, and, instead, the heterogeneous Cu isotopic compositions of lower crustal rocks, which negatively correlate with Cu contents, suggest segregation or accumulation of isotopically light sulfides during intracrustal differentiation of arc magmas. This is supported by the extremely light Cu isotopic compositions of lower crustal mafic cumulates and heavy Cu isotopic compositions of differentiated magmas in thick continental arcs. Intracrustal differentiation of mantle-derived magmas and subsequent foundering of sulfide-rich mafic cumulates preferentially removes isotopically light Cu, leaving a Cu-depleted and isotopically heavy continental crust.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of Plyometric Training (PT) on the athletic performance of youth basketball players (age 5–17.99) and to provide a theoretical basis for applying PT in basketball training practice.MethodPubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, EBSCO and other data platforms were searched, and Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 16.0 software.ResultA total of 24 studies were included, with a sample size of 738 participants. The results showed that PT improved jumping, linear sprinting, change of direction (COD) speed, and balance in youth basketball players (p < 0.05) but did not significantly improve lower limb strength (p > 0.05). The results of subgroup analyses showed that:1) Regarding the effect of PT on different aspects of athletic performance, enhancements were found for vertical jump, 5–10 m, 20–30 m sprinting ability, velocity-oriented and force-oriented COD speed, and dynamic balance ability of youth basketball players. 2) When analyzing different participant subgroups, basketball players aged 5 to 10.99 and 11–14.99 years appeared to improve their jump, sprinting ability, and COD speed through PT training, whereas no improvements in sprinting ability and COD speed were found for players aged 15 to 17.99. Male and female youth basketball players could improve their jumping through PT, in contrast, straight-line sprinting ability and COD speed were significantly improved only by male youth basketball players, and balance ability was significantly improved only by female youth basketball players. 3) Regarding different training protocols, high-frequency PT (>2 times/week) with a low-volume (jumping ≤150 times/week) and Single-type PT (one specific movement) improved only jumping ability. In contrast, low-frequency PT (1–2 times/week) with a high-volume (jumping >150 times/week) and mixed-type PT (varied jumping drills) protocols significantly improved jumping, linear sprinting, COD speed, and balancing abilities.ConclusionPT can enhance the jumping, linear sprinting, COD speed, and balance of youth basketball players, but it does not affect lower limb strength. It is recommended that coaches make full use of the training-sensitive periods of young athletes by incorporating low-frequency, high-volume, and mixed-type PT into their regular training routines over the long term.

Following Einstein’s prediction that “Physics constitutes a logical system of thought” and “Nature is the realization of the simplest conceivable mathematical ideas”, this topical review outlines a formal extension of local realism limited by the speed of light to global realism with bipolar strings (GRBS) that unifies the principle of locality with quantum nonlocality. The related literature is critically reviewed to justify GRBS which is shown as a necessary and inevitable consequence of the Bell test and an equilibrium-based axiomatization of physics and quantum information science for brain–universe similarity and human-level intelligence. With definable causality in regularity and mind–light–matter unity for quantum superposition/entanglement, bipolar universal modus ponens (BUMP) in GRBS makes quantum emergence and submergence of spacetime logically ubiquitous in both the physical and mental worlds—an unexpected but long-sought simplification of quantum gravity with complete background independence. It is shown that GRBS forms a basis for quantum intelligence (QI)—a spacetime transcendent, quantum–digital compatible, analytical quantum computing paradigm where bipolar strings lead to bipolar entropy as a nonlinear bipolar dynamic and set–theoretic unification of order and disorder as well as linearity and nonlinearity for energy/information conservation, regeneration, and degeneration toward quantum cognition and quantum biology (QCQB) as well as information-conservational blackhole keypad compression and big bang data recovery. Subsequently, GRBS is justified as a real-world quantum gravity (RWQG) theory—a bipolar relativistic causal–logical reconceptualization and unification of string theory, loop quantum gravity, and M-theory—the three roads to quantum gravity. Based on GRBS, the following is posited: (1) life is a living bipolar superstring regulated by bipolar entropy; (2) thinking with consciousness and memory growth as a prerequisite for human-level intelligence is fundamentally mind–light–matter unitary QI logically equivalent to quantum emergence (entanglement) and submergence (collapse) of spacetime. These two posits lead to a positive answer to the question “If AI machine cannot think, can QI machine think?”. Causal–logical brain modeling (CLBM) for entangled machine thinking and imagination (EMTI) is proposed and graphically illustrated. The testability and falsifiability of GRBS are discussed.

Abstract A bidirectional DC–DC converter is required for an energy storage system. High efficiency and a high step-up and step-down conversion ratio are the development trends. In this research, a series of bidirectional high-gain Cuk circuits was derived by combining tapped inductors and bidirectional Cuk. After analyzing and comparing the characteristics of each circuit, a bidirectional high-gain Cuk circuit with a tapped-inductor (reverse coupling) was proposed. The proposed converter has a simple structure and a high voltage gain in both the step-down (Buck) and step-up (Boost) operation modes. The voltage stress of S2 was low. The voltage stress of S1 was high, however, and this is a disadvantage of the proposed converter. The proposed circuit’s characteristics were thoroughly examined, including the voltage gain characteristics and the design of the main parameters. We established a power loss model of the new topology, and the tapped-inductor turn ratio was optimized for high efficiency. Finally, a 400 W experimental implementation of the converter was shown to achieve efficiencies of 93.5% and 92.4% in the step-up and step-down modes, respectively. These findings verified the validity of the proposed circuit’s theoretical analysis.

The complex terrain and marked anisotropy of regional tectonic stress field in western China make the crustal stress state an important assessment parameter. Understanding the regional crustal stress state lays the foundation for assessing the layout at the tunnel design stage and predicting rockburst, fault slip and other engineering disasters in the tunnel construction process. This study aims to explore the current in-situ stress state of the super-long highway tunnels in southern Shaanxi. We did hydraulic fracturing in-situ stress measurement of the Boreholes ZK10 and ZK11 in the Guxiandong tunnel and the Hualongshan tunnel, respectively, and thus characterized the current in-situ stress distribution of the two tunnels. The measurement results show that:The SH values at the maximum buried depths of the Guxiandong and Hualongshan super-long deep tunnels are 13 MPa and 22 MPa, respectively. The stress relations of the Guxiandong and Hualongshan tunnels are SH>Sh>Sv and SH>Sv>Sh, respectively, and horizontal principal stress plays a leading role. The SH direction is NW-NWW, which is basically consistent with the direction of the maximum principal stress in the basic database of crustal stress environment in mainland China. Three conclusions were drawn from the results of in-situ stress measurement in combination with related theories and assessment criteria. Firstly, the angle between the direction of maximum horizontal principal stress and tunnel axis is beneficial to the stability of tunnel surrounding rocks. The overall layout of the two tunnels is reasonable. Secondly, rock burst with moderate strength or above will not occur in the two tunnels according to a comprehensive study using the rock strength-stress ratio method, Tao Zhenyu criterion, Russenes criterion and rock stress-strength ratio method. Thirdly we used Mohr-Coulomb criterion and Bayer's law, let the friction coefficient μ have the value between 0.6~1.0, and then we analyzed the present stress state of the two tunnels. It is found that the stress of the fault zone near the two tunnels did not reach the critical condition of sliding instability of shallow faults in the crust, while it is in a stable stress state.

Evasive Spectre attacks have used additional nop or memory delay instructions to make effective hardware performance counter based detectors with lower attack detection successful rate. Interestingly, the detection performance gets worse under different workloads. For example, the attack detection successful rate is only 59.8% for realistic applications, while it is much lower 27.52% for memory stress test. Therefore, this paper proposes a two-stage smart detector T-Smade designed for evasive Spectre attacks (e.g., evasive Spectre nop and evasive Spectre memory) under various workloads. T-Smade uses the first-stage detector to identify the type of workloads and then selects the appropriate second-stage detector, which uses four hardware performance counter events to characterize the high cache miss rate and low branch miss rate of Spectre attacks. More importantly, the second stage detector adds one dimension of reusing cache miss rate and branch miss rate to exploit the characteristics of various workloads to detect evasive Spectre attacks effectively. Furthermore, to achieve the good generalization for more unseen evasive Spectre attacks, the proposed classification detector T-Smade is trained by the raw data of Spectre attacks and non-attacks in different workloads using simple Multi-Layer Perception models. The comprehensive results demonstrate that T-Smade makes the average attack detection successful rate of evasive Spectre nop under different workload return from 27.52% to 95.42%, and that of evasive Spectre memory from 59.8% up to 100%. For spectral beam combining, an experimental system of dynamic beam quality caused by the thermal deformation of a grating has been designed and established. According to the theoretical model established, the distribution of the temperature field, as well as the thermal deformation of the grating, has been analyzed. Further, the combined beam quality and the intensity distribution have been numerically calculated in detail. The results show that the maximum temperature and the grating thermal deformation increase with the extension of irradiation time, resulting in side lobes appearing in the intensity distribution. In the experiment, the measured combined beam quality factor Mx2 was 1.29 without the thermal deformation. When the grating was heated by pump lasers at different times, Mx2 can arrive at 1.34, 1.37, and 1.41, respectively. The results reveal that the combined beam quality increases with the increase in irradiation time and changes rapidly at the beginning of heating, consistent with the theoretical analysis. The discussion and analysis of the dynamic beam quality are potentially valuable for reducing the influence of thermal deformation on the beam quality.

Goblet cell adenocarcinoma (GCA) is a rare amphicrine tumor and difficult to diagnose. GCA is traditionally found in the appendix, but extra-appendiceal GCA may be underestimated. Intestinal adenocarcinoma with signet ring cell component is also very rare, and some signet ring cell carcinomas are well cohesive, having some similar morphological features to GCAs. It is necessary to differentiate GCA from intestinal adenocarcinomas with cohesive signet ring cell component (IACSRCC). The goal of this study is to find occurrence of extra-appendiceal GCA and characterize the histological, immunohistochemical, transcriptional, and immune landscape of GCA. We collected 12 cases of GCAs and 10 IACSRCCs and reviewed the clinicopathologic characters of these cases. Immunohistochemical stains were performed with synaptophysin, chromogranin A, CD56, somatostatin receptor (SSTR) 2, and Ki-67. Whole transcriptome RNA-sequencing was performed, and data were used to analyze differential gene expression and predict immune cell infiltration levels in GCA and IACSRCC. RNA-sequencing data for colorectal adenocarcinoma were gathered from TCGA data portal. Of the 12 patients with GCA, there were 4 women and 8 men. There were three appendiceal cases and nine extra-appendiceal cases. GCAs were immunohistochemically different from IACSRCC. GCA also had different levels of B-cell and CD8+ T-cell infiltration compared to both colorectal adenocarcinoma and cohesive IACSRCCs. Differential gene expression analysis showed distinct gene expression patterns in GCA compared to colorectal adenocarcinoma, with a number of cancer-related differentially expressed genes, including upregulation of TMEM14A, GOLT1A, DSCC1, and HSD17B8, and downregulation of KCNQ1OT1 and MXRA5. GCA also had several differentially expressed genes compared to IACSRCCs, including upregulation of PRSS21, EPPIN, RPRM, TNFRSF12A, and BZRAP1, and downregulation of HIST1H2BE, TCN1, AC069363.1, RP11-538I12.2, and REG4. In summary, the number of extra-appendiceal GCA was underestimated in Chinese patients. GCA can be seen as a distinct morphological, immunohistochemical, transcriptomic, and immunological entity. The classic low-grade component of GCA and the immunoreactivity for neuroendocrine markers are the key points to diagnosing GCA.

Diversion is a crucial technique for effectively improving shale reservoir production by creating more complex fracture networks. Evaluating diversion effectiveness is necessary to optimize the parameters in hydraulic fracturing. Water hammer diagnostics, an emerging fracturing diagnosis technique, evaluate diversion effectiveness by analyzing water hammer signals. The water hammer attenuation, as indicated by the oscillation time, correlates with the complexity of fracture networks. However, it remains unclear whether the oscillation time is associated with diversion effectiveness. This paper elucidates the relationship between the water hammer oscillation time and diversion effectiveness by taking the probability of diversion and the treating pressure response as the evaluation criteria. Initially, a high-frequency pressure sensor was installed at the wellhead to sample the water hammer signals. Next, the oscillation times were determined using the feature extraction method. Simultaneously, the probability of diversion and the treating pressure response were calculated using the cepstrum error function and treating pressure curve, respectively. Then, the relationship between the oscillation time and diversion effectiveness was analyzed. Finally, a rapid judgment method for evaluating diversion effectiveness based on the water hammer oscillation time was proposed. The results indicated a negative correlation between the probability of diversion and the oscillation time, with higher probabilities resulting in lower oscillation times. The oscillation times exhibited a negative correlation with the treating pressure response, including the treating pressure increases and diversion pressure spikes, wherein a greater pressure differential led to lower oscillation times. Drawing from the statistics of a shale gas horizontal well in Sichuan, a better diversion effectiveness is associated with fewer oscillations, demonstrating a negative correlation between the diversion effectiveness and the oscillation time in water hammer signatures. Finally, a rapid judgment method for evaluating diversion effectiveness was proposed, utilizing the 95% confidence interval of the mean oscillation time.
