Object This study aims to conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy of various dressings in preventing exit-site infection (ESI) and peritonitis.Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CINAHL Plus with Full Text (EBSCO), Sino Med, Wan Fang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from 1 January 1999 to 10 July 2023. The language restrictions were Chinese and English. Randomized controlled trials, non-randomized controlled trials, and self-controlled trials were included in this study. We used ROB 2 tool to evaluate the quality of the included literature. Two authors independently extracted the data according to the Cochrane Handbook. A Frequentist network meta-analysis was performed using Stata17.0 according to PRISAMA with a random effects model.Results From 2092 potentially eligible studies, thirteen studies were selected for analysis, including nine randomized controlled studies, three quasi-experimental studies and one self-controlled trial. A total of 1229 patients were included to compare five types of exit site care dressings, named disinfection dressings, antibacterial dressings, non-antibacterial occlusive dressings, sterile gauze, and no-particular dressings. The outcome of prevention ESI is antibacterial dressings (SUCRA = 97.6) >non-antibacterial occlusive dressings (SUCRA = 68.3) >disinfection dressings (SUCRA = 50.6) >no-particular dressings (SUCRA = 23.9) >sterile gauze (SUCRA = 9.5). The antibacterial dressings were more effective than sterile gauze (OR = 0.13, 95%CI 0.04∼0.44), and no-particular dressing (OR = 0.18, 95%CI 0.07∼0.50) in preventing ESI; the non-antibacterial occlusive dressings were effective than sterile gauze (OR:0.30, 95%CI 0.16∼0.57). There is no statistical significance between no-particular dressings and other types of dressings in preventing the mature ESI. There is no statistical significance in the effectiveness of five types of dressings in preventing peritonitis.Conclusions The no-particular dressings maybe more cost-effective for preventing mature ESI. None of the dressings was more effective than another in preventing peritonitis. Then, none of the different types of dressing is strongly recommended for preventing ESI or peritonitis.RegistrationCRD42022366756

Low-dielectric, transparent, and high-heat-resistant polyimide (PI) films are vital for flexible electronics and high-frequency communication devices. However, balancing these properties within intrinsic polyimides remains a significant challenge. In this work, a nonplanar diamine monomer, 2,7-bis(3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-9,9-bis(4-nitrophenyl)-9H-fluorene (BTFDA), containing a Cardo structure and four trifluoromethyl groups, was synthesized and copolymerized with commercial monomers to produce a series of polyimides (CPI-X). These CPI-X exhibit exceptional heat resistance, with glass transition temperatures (Tg) exceeding 350 °C, decomposition temperatures (Td5 %) above 530 °C, and low thermal expansion coefficients (CTE < 20.8 ppm/K). Additionally, they have excellent optical properties with over 92 % transparency at 450 nm and low birefringence (Δn = 0.00042). They also demonstrate good hydrophobicity with low water absorption (Ma% = 0.04 %) and high-water contact angles (Ca = 97.6°). Most importantly, the CPI-X films show excellent dielectric properties (Dk = 2.25, Df = 0.00365 at 1 MHz, Dk = 2.13, Df = 0.0065 at 10 GHz). Such intrinsic PI films with low Dk values may be ideal candidates for next-generation interlayer media.

This study investigates leakage mechanisms in vertical GaN-on-GaN Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) and demonstrates effective mitigation strategies. The fabricated devices exhibit low reverse leakage current (1 × 10−5 A/cm2 at −200 V) and a high Ion/Ioff ratio (∼1010), surpassing the performance of GaN SBDs on foreign substrates. We elucidate dominant leakage mechanisms—thermionic emission, Poole–Frenkel emission, and variable-range hopping—and their evolution with temperature and bias. Optimized fabrication processes, including defect etching and a novel dual-layer passivation technique, achieve over a 1000-fold reduction in leakage current.

ZeXie Decoction (ZXD) is one of the traditional Chinese medicine formulas (TCMFs) comprising Alisma orientalis (Sam.) Juzep. (ZX) and Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. (BZ) in 5:2 ratios and is widely employed in clinical applications since ancient times. In this study, UHPLC-QE-Orbitrap-MS was used for qualitative analysis of ZXD in rats’ plasma after a single oral dose of 750 mg/kg body weight. Afterward, UHPLC-Q-TRAP-MS/MS was used for simultaneous analysis of three bioactive chemical compounds including alisol A, alisol B, and alisol A 24-acetate in ZXD’s ethanol extract. Subsequently, the pharmacokinetic profiles of the three analytes were investigated in rat plasma utilizing UHPLC-Q-TRAP-MS/MS. The multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode for the three analytes were at m/z 508.4→383.2 for alisol A, m/z 490.4→365.2 for alisol B, and m/z 550.4→515.5 for alisol A 24-acetate. The analysis method was validated in terms of its accuracy, stability, repeatability, linearity, spiked recovery and matrix effect. As a result, twenty-five chemical constituents of ZXD were putatively identified in plasma, and rapid, sensitive, and accurate methods were established for the quantitative analysis and pharmacokinetic study of ZXD. The findings of this study can provide a scientific base for further study of in vivo pharmacokinetics of TCMFs.

ZeXie Decoction (ZXD) is a traditional Chinese medicine composed of Alisma orientalis (Sam.) Juzep. and Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. ZXD has been widely used to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The mechanistic basis for the pharmacological activity of ZXD, however, remains poorly understood. In this study, we used a network pharmacology approach and investigated the association between ZXD and NAFLD. We identified the active ingredients of ZXD and screened the potential targets of these ingredients, after which a database of relevant NAFLD-related targets were constructed and several enrichment analyses were performed. Furthermore, the ethanol and aqueous extracts of ZXD were prepared and experimental pharmacology validation was conducted using RT-qPCR of the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) model in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. As a result, a herb-compound-target-pathway network model was developed, and HMGCR, SREBP-2, MAPK1, and NF-κBp65 targets were validated. The gene expression results of these four targets were consistent with those of the network pharmacology prediction. Using an integration strategy, we revealed that ZXD could treat NAFLD by targeting HMGCR, SREBP-2, MAPK1, and NF-κBp65.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been extensively used as a mainstay for treating various pathologies. Combing the pharmacology and systems biology approaches, the network pharmacology (NP) approach was developed to predict the probable mechanism underlying the therapeutic effect of TCM. However, approaches solely based on NP cannot effectively elucidate the curative mechanism in a holistic and reliable manner due to limitations in NP-based methods and complexity of TCM components. Thus, integration strategies combining NP with other approaches are increasingly being used. Since the interdisciplinary research in TCM has received much attention in the advent of the big data era of which the NP-based integration strategy is broadly used, the strategy is clearly elaborated in the present review. We summarized several NP-based integration strategies and their applications in TCM studies, including multi-omics approach, gut microbiota study, chemical information analysis, data-mining, and network toxicology study.
