Bis-quaternary ammonium betulin-based dimethacrylate derivatives (Bis-QADM-Bet) were synthesized. Regulating the alkyl chain length of Bis-QADM-Bet endows dental resins with superior antibacterial effects and acceptable physicochemical properties.

Biocompounds play a significant role in the area of renewable polymers in terms of sustainability, as they can be employed or converted into monomers for polymerization in a manner similar to many petroleum-derived monomers. In this work, betulin, a plant-derived triterpene with antibacterial and antiviral properties, was converted to two kinds of α,ω-diene derivatives with different methylene spacer lengths between the olefin and the ester group via an esterification reaction. Polyolefins were subsequently made by acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization of betulin-based α,ω-diene. The polymer consists of rigid betulin and flexible unsaturated aliphatic segments, which was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The influence of different parameters including temperature, catalysts, and catalyst loading on ADMET polymerization was investigated. These polyolefins with high molar mass (up to 20.0 kg/mol) were obtained in an elevated yield (≥95%). Thermal analysis of these (co)polymers showed excellent thermal stability (up to 360 °C) and tunable glass transition temperatures depending on the nature of betulin and alkene segments. To evaluate the antimicrobial potential of betulin-containing polymers, the fabrication of polyolefin fibrous mats (ca. 400 nm diameter) via the electrospinning technique was successfully achieved. Their morphology and hydrophobicity were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and water contact angle analyses. The fibrous mats possessed broad-spectrum antibacterial property, providing a feasible strategy to design betulin-based polymeric fibers for many applications in the biomedical field.

Chemically processed methylammonium tin-triiodide (CH3NH3SnI3) films include Sn in different oxidation states, leading to poor stability and low power conversion efficiency of the resulting solar cells (PSCs). The development of absorbers with Sn [2+] only has been identified as one of the critical steps to develop all Sn-based devices. Here, we report on coevaporation of CH3NH3I and SnI2 to obtain absorbers with Sn being only in the preferred oxidation state [+2] as confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The Sn [4+]-free absorbers exhibit smooth highly crystalline surfaces and photoluminescence measurements corroborating their excellent optoelectronic properties. The films show very good stability under heat and light. Photoluminescence quantum yields up to 4 × 10^-3 translate in a quasi Fermi-level splittings exceeding 850 meV under one sun equivalent conditions showing high promise in developing lead-free, high efficiency, and stable PSCs.

Flower color is one of the crucial traits of ornamental plants. Rhododendron delavayi Franch. is a famous ornamental plant species distributed in the mountain areas of Southwest China. This plant has red inflorescence and young branchlets. However, the molecular basis of the color formation of R. delavayi is unclear. In this study, 184 MYB genes were identified based on the released genome of R. delavayi. These genes included 78 1R-MYB, 101 R2R3-MYB, 4 3R-MYB, and 1 4R-MYB. The MYBs were divided into 35 subgroups using phylogenetic analysis of the MYBs of Arabidopsis thaliana. The members of the same subgroup in R. delavayi had similar conserved domains and motifs, gene structures, and promoter cis-acting elements, which indicate their relatively conserved function. In addition, transcriptome based on unique molecular identifier strategy and color difference of the spotted petals, unspotted petals, spotted throat, unspotted throat, and branchlet cortex were detected. Results showed significant differences in the expression levels of R2R3-MYB genes. Weighted co-expression network analysis between transcriptome and chromatic aberration values of five types of red samples showed that the MYBs were the most important TFs involved in the color formation, of which seven were R2R3-MYB, and three were 1R-MYB. Two R2R3-MYB (DUH019226.1 and DUH019400.1) had the highest connectivity in the whole regulation network, and they were identified as hub genes for red color formation. These two MYB hub genes provide references for the study of transcriptional regulation of the red color formation of R. delavayi.

Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite materials have attracted considerable research interest, especially for photovoltaics. In addition, their scope has been extended towards light-emitting devices, photodetectors, or detectors. However, the toxicity of lead (Pb) element in perovskite compositions limits their applications. Therefore, a tremendous research effort on replacing is underway. More specifically, tin-based perovskites have shown the highest potential for this purpose. However, many challenges remain before these materials reach the goals of stability, safety, and eventually commercial application. This perspective considers many aspects and the critical development possibilities of tin-based perovskites, including drawbacks and challenges based on their physical properties. Additionally, it provides insights for future device applications that go beyond solar cells. Finally, the existing challenges and opportunities in tin-based perovskites are discussed.

Daily temperature variations induce phase transitions and lattice strains in halide perovskites, challenging their stability in solar cells. We stabilized the perovskite black phase and improved solar cell performance using the ordered dipolar structure of β-poly(1,1-difluoroethylene) to control perovskite film crystallization and energy alignment. We demonstrated p-i-n perovskite solar cells with a record power conversion efficiency of 24.6% over 18 square millimeters and 23.1% over 1 square centimeter, which retained 96 and 88% of the efficiency after 1000 hours of 1-sun maximum power point tracking at 25° and 75°C, respectively. Devices under rapid thermal cycling between −60° and +80°C showed no sign of fatigue, demonstrating the impact of the ordered dipolar structure on the operational stability of perovskite solar cells.

An efficient decolorization strategy for waste polyester textiles and a new purification strategy for the glycolysis product were developed and combined to enable the repeatable use of polyester in the textile industry.

Continuous-flow microreactors offer increased reactivity and reusability via unique reaction pathways to address a wide range of practical nanocatalysis problems. However, only limited platforms exist to employ these microreactors for versatile nanocatalytic reactions. In this work, we conformally anchored nickel oxide (NiO) nanosheets onto quartz fibers (QFs), which exhibited a high catalytic activity using the hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) as a model reaction in a batch reaction study. More importantly, we demonstrated that fiber-based QF@NiO composites (e.g., cotton, fabric, belt, felt) can be integrated as versatile platforms to develop microreactors for continuous-flow catalytic applications including hydrogenation reactions and dye-catalyzed degradation. This fiber-based three-dimensional (3D) nanocatalyst architecture effectively drives continuous-flow catalytic reactions with unprecedented efficiency due to the easy diffusion of reactant molecules into the fibrous structure, allowing contact with catalytic active sites. Our approach to continuous-flow microreactor design uses surface hybridization as a guideline to immobilize nanocatalysts onto the QFs. These QF-based platforms, coupled with rational design, are expected to be applied to a wide range of nanocatalytic reactions.

Funder: Helmholtz Young Investigator Group Frontrunner, Over the past few years, lead‐halide perovskites (LHPs), both in the form of bulk thin films and colloidal nanocrystals (NCs), have revolutionized the field of optoelectronics, emerging at the forefront of next‐generation optoelectronics. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of halide perovskite solar cells has increased from 3.8% to over 25.7% over a short period of time and is very close to the theoretical limit (33.7%). At the same time, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of perovskite LEDs has surpassed 23% and 20% for green and red emitters, respectively. Despite great progress in device efficiencies, the photoactive phase instability of perovskites is one of the major concerns for the long‐term stability of the devices and is limiting their transition to commercialization. In this regard, researchers have found that the phase stability of LHPs and the reproducibility of the device performance can be improved by A‐site cation alloying with two or more species, these are named mixed cation (double, triple, or quadruple) perovskites. This review provides a state‐of‐the‐art overview of different types of mixed A‐site cation bulk perovskite thin films and colloidal NCs reported in the literature, along with a discussion of their synthesis, properties, and progress in solar cells and LEDs.

et al., Large datasets are now ubiquitous as technology enables higher-throughput experiments, but rarely can a research field truly benefit from the research data generated due to inconsistent formatting, undocumented storage or improper dissemination. Here we extract all the meaningful device data from peer-reviewed papers on metal-halide perovskite solar cells published so far and make them available in a database. We collect data from over 42,400 photovoltaic devices with up to 100 parameters per device. We then develop open-source and accessible procedures to analyse the data, providing examples of insights that can be gleaned from the analysis of a large dataset. The database, graphics and analysis tools are made available to the community and will continue to evolve as an open-source initiative. The purity of the perovskite material is of paramount importance as it determines the optoelectronic properties and, hence, the device performance. However, the error during the experiment and incomplete crystallization is inevitable, leading to a low quality. Here, two p-type polymers were designed to template the crystallization of perovskite to obtain perovskite films with higher crystallinity and higher phase purity. The polymers at the perovskite/transport interface could also improve the charge transfer and, thus, the device performance. In this study, the highest efficiency device achieved an efficiency value of ~19% with improved open-circuit voltage and fill factor.

Tin halide perovskites attract incremental attention to deliver lead free perovskite solar cells. Nevertheless, disordered crystal growth and low defect formation energy, related to Sn II oxidation to Sn IV , limit the efficiency and stability of solar cells. Engineering the processing from perovskite precursor solution preparation to film crystallization is crucial to tackle these issues and enable the full photovoltaic potential of tin halide perovskites. Herein, the ionic liquid n butylammonium acetate BAAc is used to tune the tin coordination with specific O Sn chelating bonds and N amp; 63743;H X hydrogen bonds. The coordination between BAAc and tin enables modulation of the crystallization of the perovskite in a thin film. The resulting BAAc containing perovskite films are more compact and have a preferential crystal orientation. Moreover, a lower amount of Sn IV and related chemical defects are found for the BAAc containing perovskites. Tin halide perovskite solar cells processed with BAAc show a power conversion efficiency of over 10 . This value is retained after storing the devices for over 1000 h in nitrogen. We report the design of a new iron catalyst for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones. This type of iron catalyst combines the structural characteristics of the Noyori hydrogenation catalyst (an axially chiral 2,2'-bis(phosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl fragment and the metal-ligand bifunctional motif) and an ene(amido) group that can activate the iron center. After activation by 8 equivalents of potassium tert-butoxide, (SA,RP,SS)-7a and (SA,RP,SS)-7b are active but nonenantioselective catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes at room temperature in isopropanol. A maximum turnover number of 14480 was observed for (SA,RP,SS)-7a in the reduction of acetophenone. The right combination of the stereochemistry of the axially chiral 2,2'-bis(phosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl group and the carbon-centered chiral amine-imine moiety in (SA,RP,RR)-7b' afforded an enantioselective catalyst for the preparation of chiral alcohols with moderate to good yields and a broad functional group tolerance.

Graphene fibers are supposed to be ideal electrodes for fiber-shaped lithium-ion batteries. However, a big challenge remains in how to bring effectively the remarkable properties of graphene onto macroscopic graphene fibers. Here, the assembly of 2D reduced graphene oxides is coordinated by 1D carbon nanotubes resulting in a novel composite fiber. A brick–bridge network with high alignment, optimal porosity and low junction contact resistance is formed, in which reduced graphene oxides serve as the brick and carbon nanotubes as the bridge. Consequently, the composite fiber provides a fast, robust and massive transport network both for electrons and Li-ions. A large specific capacity of 522 mAh g−1 at 50 mA g−1 is achieved. Moreover, high retentions of 143% and 72% are obtained after 800 cycles at 500 mA g−1 and when current density is increased from 50 to 500 mA g−1, respectively.

In recent years, impulse buying is increasingly common in China. Online impulse buying (OIB) has drawn increasing scholarly attention across disciplines. This study focuses on the impulse buying of “Double 11” Shopping Carnival, taking “Double 11” Shopping Carnival consumers as research object, through related theory, secondary data analysis and social network analysis, exploring the relationship between marketing stimulation, impulse buying and emotional response, and establish a theoretical model and propose hypotheses. Data were obtained form 325 consumers. According to the statistical analysis result, the paper demonstrates that the theoretical model verifies the consumers’ impulsive buying can make a mediating effect between marketing stimulation and happy emotion, emotion of guilty, regretful emotion. In summary, this study made some marketing suggestions for the enterprises, including the utility of different ways to cause different kinds of emotions after impulsive buying for consumers.

Two types of bifunctional bis(salicylaldimine) ligands (syn-L and anti-L) were designed and synthesized to support bimetallic aluminum complexes. Owing to the rigid anthracene skeleton, syn-L and anti-L successfully locked two Al centers in close proximity (syn-Al2) and far apart (anti-Al2), respectively. The distance between two Al centers in syn-Al2 was defined by X-ray diffraction as 6.665 A, which is far shorter than that in anti-Al2. In the presence of stoichiometrical BnOH, syn-Al2 and anti-Al2 were both efficient for ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of rac-LA with the former being more active. In the presence of excess BnOH, syn-Al2 showed an efficient and immortal feature, consistent with high conversions, matched Mns, narrow molecular weight distributions and end group fidelity, while anti-Al2 had a much lower activity or even became entirely inactive due to rapid decomposition, indicated by in situ1H-NMR experiments of Al complexes with BnOH.

The unsymmetrical salphen ligand (3,5-tBu-1-OH-C6H2)CH═N-C6H4-N═CH(3-Ph-1-OH-C6H3) (tBu-PhLH2) was designed and synthesized to support aluminum complexes. Its symmetric analogues, (3,5-tBu-1-OH-C6H2)CH═N-C6H4-N═CH(3,5-tBu-1-OH-C6H2) (tBuLH2) and (3-Ph-1-OH-C6H3)CH═N-C6H4-N═CH(3-Ph-1-OH-C6H3) (PhLH2), were also explored and compared. The methane elimination reactions between ligands and AlMe3 resulted in formation of tBu-PhLAlMe (1), tBuLAlMe (2), and PhLAlMe (3) in high yields, which were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H and 13C NMR. The coordination geometries of unsymmetrical and symmetric ligands in 1 and 2 were studied by X-ray diffractions, which revealed a five-coordinated distorted square-pyramidal geometry around Al centers. The aluminum methyl compounds 1–3 reacted with BnOH at 70 °C to give tBu-PhLAlOBn (4), tBuLAlOBn (5), and PhLAlOBn (6), respectively, which existed as monometallic species in solution as indicated by NMR studies. Grain boundaries act as rapid pathways for nonradiative carrier recombination, anion migration, and water corrosion, leading to low efficiency and poor stability of organometal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, the strategy suppressing the crystal grain boundaries is applied to improve the photovoltaic performance, especially moisture-resistant stability, with polyvinylammonium carbochain backbone covalently connecting the perovskite crystal grains. This cationic polyelectrolyte additive serves as nucleation sites and template for crystal growth of MAPbI3 and afterward the immobilized adjacent crystal grains grow into the continuous compact, pinhole-free perovskite layer. As a result, the unsealed PSC devices, which are fabricated under low-temperature fabrication protocol with a proper content of polymer additive PVAm·HI, currently exhibit the maximum efficiency of 16.3%. Diphosphine ligands that merge both axial and P-centered chirality may exhibit superior or unique properties. Herein we report the diastereoselective introduction of P-centered chirality at the 2-position of the axially chiral 2'-(phosphine oxide)-1,1'-binaphthyl scaffold. A lithium-bromide exchange reaction of a 2-bromo-2'-(phosphine oxide)-1,1'-binaphthyl and treatment with dichlorophosphines followed by a nucleophilic organometallic reagent afforded unsymmetrical 2-phosphino-2'-(phosphine oxide)-1,1'-binaphthyls with binaphthyl axial chirality and one or two phosphorus stereocenters with a variety of P substituents. The final diastereomerically pure 2,2'-bisphosphino-1,1'-binaphthyls were obtained by reduction of the phosphine oxide directing group. Preliminary results demonstrated that a ligand with this hybrid chirality could induce higher stereoselectivity in the metal-complex-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of a dialkyl ketone.

All-optically controlled devices are the attractive subjects due to their future applications in all-optically controlled networks and computers. In this work, two-dimensional (2D) graphite nanosheets are synthesized to improve organic photorefractive performance in the all-optical operation, i.e., the photorefractive performance under zero electric field. The synthetic process is performed by 2D-polymerizing electrophilic and nucleophilic carbon species under solvothermal effect, where [:C≡C:]2− in calcium carbide is applied as nucleophilic carbon species and [C(Cl)] in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) as electrophilic carbon species. The polycarbonization reaction consists of 1D horizontal growth for nanoribbon and 2D vertical growth for single-layer graphene. Then, single-layer graphene nanosheets are aggregated via π–π stacking effect into 2D graphite nanosheets being composed of multilayer graphene nanosheets. Notably, the self-template characteristics induce the synchronous and alternate ongoing of three above processes. Interestingly, when these 2D graphite nanosheets are doped into organic photorefractive devices, the all-optically controlled photorefractive performance is effectively improved by enhancing the gain coefficient of two-beam coupling about 46.4% from 80.1 cm−1 of control device to 117.2 cm−1 of nanographite-doped device. This is attributed to the excellent electric conductance of 2D graphite nanosheets, which strengthens the charge separation under the nonuniform light field inside organic photorefractive devices. Then, the stronger built-in electric field will be induced so that the orientation enhancement effect is increased in organic photorefractive devices. This work provides an effective and facile approach to improve organic all-optically controlled photorefractive performance with 2D graphitic nanosheets.

Low toxicity and an ideal energy bandgap make two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden–Popper tin-based halide perovskites a promising photovoltaic material. However, the disordered crystal orientation and the oxidation of Sn2+ to Sn4+ still need to be addressed. Here, we demonstrate that the annealing of FASnI3 assisted by phenyl ethylammonium chloride enables the formation of more ordered 2D tin-based perovskite crystals oriented vertically. We use in situ synchrotron-based grazing incident X-ray diffraction to correlate the higher crystal orientation to the better device performance. We measured a maximum power conversion efficiency of more than 9%. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the phenyl ethylammonium chloride acts as a barrier layer at the surface of the crystals protecting the tin from the oxidation. Hence, this work paves the way for more efficient and stable lead-free perovskite solar cells.

The rapid development of Internet of Things mobile terminals has accelerated the market's demand for portable mobile power supplies and flexible wearable devices. Here, an embedded metal-mesh transparent conductive electrode (TCE) is prepared on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) using a novel selective electrodeposition process combined with inverted film-processing methods. This embedded nickel (Ni)-mesh flexible TCE shows excellent photoelectric performance (sheet resistance of ≈0.2-0.5 Ω sq-1 at high transmittance of ≈85-87%) and mechanical durability. The PET/Ni-mesh/polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS PH1000) hybrid electrode is used as a transparent electrode for perovskite solar cells (PSCs), which exhibit excellent electric properties and remarkable environmental and mechanical stability. A power conversion efficiency of 17.3% is obtained, which is the highest efficiency for a PSC based on flexible transparent metal electrodes to date. For perovskite crystals that require harsh growth conditions, their mechanical stability and environmental stability on flexible transparent embedded metal substrates are studied and improved. The resulting flexible device retains 76% of the original efficiency after 2000 bending cycles. The results of this work provide a step improvement in flexible PSCs.

For the burgeoning fiber-shaped batteries as a desirable wearable power supply, the priority is to construct fiber-shaped electrodes with high volumetric capacity because of the limited usable space on the human body. However, it still remains a big challenge. Herein, based on carbon-noncarbon strategy ultrafine SnO2 nanoparticles are uniformly accommodated in porous layered reduced graphene oxide (rGO) fibers, resulting in lamellar rGO-SnO2 hybrid fibers. The loading of SnO2 and the ratio of SnO2 to void are readily adjusted by the amount of ammonium hydroxide during the process of SnO2 formation. Upon an optimal technique, the rGO-SnO2 hybrid fiber presents largely enhanced mechanical strength and conductivity compared with rGO fiber, which are 3.8 times and 7.7 times the values of rGO fiber, respectively. Moreover, the hybrid fiber exhibits superb volumetric capacity of 1682 mAh cm−3 at 0.1 A g−1, which surpasses the available fiber-shaped electrodes hitherto. Furthermore, by matching with LiFePO4/carbon fiber cathode, a fiber-shaped battery is achieved and is flexible, washable and knittable, providing a prospect in the next-generation wearable electronics.

The stoichiometric reaction of bis-phenolate ligands with AlMe3 afforded zwitterionic aluminum complexes Al1-Al3, which were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The solid state structure of Al2 was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed a dinuclear feature. Two Al centers were bridged by two ligands and thus formed an unusual large 24-membered-ring metallacycle. In the presence of BnOH, Al1-Al3 were efficient for the ring-opening polymerization of e-caprolactone in a controlled manner, and the efficiency was affected by substituents on the ligands. The polymerizations exhibited a feature of immortal catalysis with an excess of BnOH.
