Subwavelength resonators have recently emerged as promising sources of spontaneous parametric down-conversion. By modeling them with quasi-normal mode expansion, we reveal a nonlinear multimode interaction and assist the design of efficient metasurfaces for quantum technologies.

We model SPDC in dielectric nanoresonators based on quasinormal modes (QNMs). Using QNMs, the process reduces to a few interacting modes, providing intuition and enabling the design of nanoscale SPDC sources with complex functionalities.
