Emotion dysregulation (ED) has been found to be prevalent in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and involved in self-harm and suicidality, especially in autistic adults without intellectual disability. Pre-existing models on the etiology of ED in ASD focus on biological and intrinsic factors to ASD features, whereas there are findings that also support the implication of environmental factors. Linehan's biosocial model (1993) is one of the leading etiological models of ED in borderline personality disorder (BPD). It conceptualizes ED as emerging from transactions between pre-existing emotional vulnerability in the child and an invalidating developmental environment. We previously developed an adaptation to Linehan's model to ED in autistic adults without intellectual disability. Based on the factors identified in our adaptation, the current study aims at investigating the characteristics and determinants of ED in autistic adults without intellectual disability compared to adults with BPD and adults without a psychiatric or a neurodevelopmental diagnoses.

The objective of the present study is to understand the psychological mechanisms that can influence camouflaging of autistic traits in autistic adults. Specifically, it seems necessary to (i) determine whether there will be more camouflaging traits in autisitic adults compared to non-autistic audults, (ii) determine whether having a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder increases shame and self-stigmatization among adults, (iii) determine if shame and self-stigma levels are associated with more camouflaging in autism, (iv) determine the relationship between camouflaging and mental health, (v) investigate if camouflaging mediates the relationship between self-stigma and deteriorated mental health, (vi) investigate the protective role of self-compassion for self-stigmatization, shame, and depression in adults with autism. To do so, we will use several standardized questionnaires via a secure platform available online and paper and pen questionnaires. Our population of interest is French speaking adults with a diagnosis of autism, waiting for a diagnosis of autism, self-diagnosed with autism and without autism.

The objective of the present study is to understand the psychological mechanisms that could hinder students in the care field (mental health and health) suffering from mental illness in their academic career and in the care of patients. Specifically, it seems necessary to (i) determine if attitudes towards mental health conditions are different to attitudes towards physical health conditions, (ii) determine whether having a history of psychological difficulties increases shame and self-stigmatization among care students, (iii) identify links between avoidance tendencies toward psychological disorders, self-stigmatization, and self-efficacy, and investigate the protective role of self-compassion for students' mental health. To do so, we will use several standardized questionnaires as well as a measure of avoidance tendencies towards mental disorders, via a secure platform available online. Our population of interest is French and English university students.
