Post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is one of the most common long-term complications of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT). In order to study the long-term adverse prognosis of patients with DVT, explore the influencing factors for the prognosis of DVT, and provide a reliable reference for future research in the field of venous thrombosis, we collected and summarized information about the incidence of PTS, the PTS score and grading, the associated symptoms and drug-related adverse reactions in 501 patients with DVT. In our study, 54.1% of patients with DVT (271 of 501) experienced indications and manifestations of PTS, the male to female ratio was approximately 1:1. During the long-term follow up, the most common symptoms of PTS were anterior tibial edema and pain. Summary: Premature ovarian failure (POF) is a complex and heterogeneous disease that causes infertility and subfertility. However, the molecular mechanism of POF has not been fully elucidated. Here, we show that the loss of adenylyl cyclase III (Adcy3) in female mice leads to POF and a shortened reproductive lifespan. We found that Adcy3 is abundantly expressed in mouse oocytes. Adcy3 knockout mice exhibited the excessive activation of primordial follicles, progressive follicle loss, follicular atresia, and ultimately POF. Mechanistically, we found that mitochondrial oxidative stress in oocytes significantly increased with age in Adcy3-deficient mice and was accompanied by oocyte apoptosis and defective folliculogenesis. In contrast, compared with wild-type female mice, humanized ADCY3 knock-in female mice exhibited improved fertility with age. Collectively, these results reveal that the previously unrecognized Adcy3 signaling pathway is tightly linked to female ovarian aging, providing potential pharmaceutical targets for preventing and treating POF.

BackgroundSeveral observational studies suggested an association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and bronchiectasis. Nevertheless, the presence of a causal relationship between these conditions is yet to be determined. This study aimed to investigate whether genetically predicted RA is associated with the risk of bronchiectasis and vice versa.MethodsWe obtained RA genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from FinnGen consortium, and bronchiectasis GWAS data from IEU Open GWAS project. Univariate Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed using inverse variance weighted (IVW) estimation as the main method. Furthermore, bidirectional and replication MR analysis, multivariate MR (MVMR), Mediation analysis, and sensitivity analyses were conducted to validate the findings.ResultsIn the UVMR analysis, the IVW results revealed that RA had an increased risk of bronchiectasis (OR = 1.18, 95% CI = 1.10–1.27; p = 2.34 × 10−6). In the reverse MR analysis, no evidence of a causal effect of bronchiectasis on the risk of RA was detected. Conversely, in the replication MR analysis, RA remained associated with an increased risk of bronchiectasis. Estimates remained consistent in MVMR analyses after adjusting for the prescription of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and glucocorticoids. Immunosuppressants were found to mediate 58% of the effect of the RA on bronchiectasis. Sensitivity analyses confirmed the stability of these associations.ConclusionThis study demonstrated a positive causal relationship between RA and an increased risk of bronchiectasis, offering insights for the early prevention of bronchiectasis in RA patients and shedding new light on the potential role of immunosuppressants as mediators in promoting the effects of RA on bronchiectasis.

Abstract Background Protein-energy wasting (PEW) has been reported to be pretty common in maintenance dialysis patients. However, the existing PEW diagnostic standard is limited in clinical use due to the complexity of it. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), as a non-invasive nutritional assessment method, can objectively and quantitatively analyze the changes of body tissue components under different nutritional states. We aim to explore the association between PEW and BIA and establish a reliable diagnostic model of PEW. Methods We collected cross-sectional data of 609 maintenance dialysis patients at the First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University. PEW was diagnosed according to International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism (ISRNM) criteria. Among them, 448 consecutive patients were included in the training set for the establishment of a diagnostic nomogram. 161 consecutive patients were included for internal validation. 52 patients from Zhejiang Hospital were included for external validation of the diagnostic model. Correlation analysis of BIA indexes with other nutritional indicators was performed. Logistic regression was used to examine the association of BIA indexes with PEW. 12 diagnostic models of PEW in maintenance dialysis patients were developed and the performance of them in terms of discrimination and calibration was evaluated using C statistics and Hosmer–Lemeshow-type χ2 statistics. After comparing to existing diagnostic models, and performing both internal and external validation, we finally established a simple but reliable PEW diagnostic model which may have great value of clinical application. Results A total of 609 individuals from First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University and 52 individuals from Zhejiang Hospital were included. After full adjustment, age, peritoneal dialysis (compared to hemodialysis), subjective global assessment (SGA, compared to non-SGA) and water ratio were independent risk factors, while triglyceride, urea nitrogen, calcium, ferritin, BCM, VFA and phase angle were independent protective factors of PEW. The model incorporated water ratio, VFA, BCM, phase angle and cholesterol revealed best performance. A nomogram was developed according to the results of model performance. The model achieved high C-indexes of 0.843 in the training set, 0.841 and 0.829 in the internal and external validation sets, respectively, and had a well-fitted calibration curve. The net reclassification improvement (NRI) showed 8%, 13%, 2%, 38%, 36% improvement of diagnostic accuracy of our model compared with “PEW score model”, “modified PEW score model”, “3-index model”, “SGA model” and “BIA decision tree model”, respectively. Conclusions BIA can be used as an auxiliary tool to evaluate PEW risk and may have certain clinical application value.

Abstract Long short-term memory (LSTM) based time series forecasting methods suffer from multiple limitations, such as accumulated error, diminishing temporal correlation, and lacking interpretability, which compromises the prediction performance. To overcome these shortcomings, a fuzzy inference-based LSTM with the embedding of a fuzzy system is proposed to enhance the accuracy and interpretability of LSTM for long-term time series prediction. Firstly, a fast and complete fuzzy rule construction method based on Wang–Mendel (WM) is proposed, which can enhance the computational efficiency and completeness of the WM model by fuzzy rules simplification and complement strategies. Then, the fuzzy prediction model is constructed to capture the fuzzy logic in data. Finally, the fuzzy inference-based LSTM is proposed by integrating the fuzzy prediction fusion, the strengthening memory layer, and the parameter segmentation sharing strategy into the LSTM network. Fuzzy prediction fusion increases the network reasoning capability and interpretability, the strengthening memory layer strengthens the long-term memory and alleviates the gradient dispersion problem, and the parameter segmentation sharing strategy balances processing efficiency and architecture discrimination. Experiments on publicly available time series demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve better performance than existing models for long-term time series prediction.

Abstract Primary cilia are conserved organelles in most mammalian cells, acting as “antennae” to sense external signals. Maintaining a physiological cilium length is required for cilium function. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are potent gene expression regulators, and aberrant miRNA expression is closely associated with ciliopathies. However, how miRNAs modulate cilium length remains elusive. Here, using the calcium‐shock method and small RNA sequencing, a miRNA is identified, namely, miR‐669a‐5p, that is highly expressed in the cilia‐enriched noncellular fraction. It is shown that miR‐669a‐5p promotes cilium elongation but not cilium formation in cultured cells. Mechanistically, it is demonstrated that miR‐669a‐5p represses ras‐GTPase‐activating protein SH3‐domain‐binding protein (G3BP) expression to inhibit histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) expression, which further upregulates A‐kinase anchor protein 12 (AKAP12) expression. This effect ultimately blocks cilia disassembly and leads to greater cilium length, which can be restored to wild‐type lengths by either upregulating HDAC6 or downregulating AKAP12. Collectively, these results elucidate a previously unidentified miR‐669a‐5p/G3BP/HDAC6/AKAP12 signaling pathway that regulates cilium length, providing potential pharmaceutical targets for treating ciliopathies.

ABSTRACTTerrestrial plants can influence the growth and health of adjacent plants through interspecific interaction. Here, the mechanisms of interspecific plant interaction on microbial function and nutrient utilization in the plant-soil interface (non-rhizosphere soil, rhizosphere soil, and root) were studied by soybean- and potato-poplar intercropping. First, metagenomics showed that soybean- and potato-poplar intercropping influenced the composition and co-occurrence networks of microbial communities in different ecological niches, with higher stability of the microbial community in soybean intercropping. Second, the gene abundance related to carbon metabolism, nitrogen cycling, phosphorus cycling, and sulfur cycling was increased at the poplar-soil interface in soybean intercropping. Moreover, soybean intercropping increased soil nutrient content and enzymatic activity. It showed higher metabolic potential in nutrient metabolism and transportation. Third, functional microorganisms that influenced nutrient cycling and transportation in different intercropping have been identified, namely Acidobacteria, Sphingomonas, Gemmatimonadaceae, Alphaproteobacteria, and Bradyrhizobium. Therefore, intercropping can construct microbial communities to alter metabolic functions and improve nutrient cycling and absorption. Interspecific plant interactions to influence the microbiome were revealed, opening up a new way for the precise regulation of plant microbiome.IMPORTANCEPoplar has the characteristics of wide distribution, strong adaptability, and fast growth, which is an ideal tree species for timber forest. In this study, metagenomics and elemental analysis were used to comprehensively reveal the effects of interspecific plant interactions on microbial communities and functions in different ecological niches. It can provide a theoretical basis for the development and application of the precise management model in poplar.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are highly dynamic intracellular organelles, which are involved in lots of biological processes. However, the dynamic morphogenesis and functions of intracellular LDs during persistent innate immune responses remain obscure. In this study, we induce long-term systemic immune activation in Drosophila through genetic manipulation. Then, the dynamic pattern of LDs is traced in the Drosophila fat body. We find that deficiency of Plin1, a key regulator of LDs’ reconfiguration, blocks LDs minimization at the initial stage of immune hyperactivation but enhances LDs breakdown at the later stage of sustained immune activation via recruiting the lipase Brummer (Bmm, homologous to human ATGL). The high wasting in LDs shortens the lifespan of flies with high-energy-cost immune hyperactivation. Therefore, these results suggest a critical function of LDs during long-term immune activation and provide a potential treatment for the resolution of persistent inflammation.

Abstract Totally implantable venous access devices (TIVADs) have been widely used for many years in the management of patients suffering from cancer. Thrombotic occlusion is the most common functional complication in the off-treatment period. This study aims to investigate the incidence of and risk factors for TIVADs-related thrombotic occlusion in patients with breast cancer. The clinical data of 1586 eligible patients with breast cancer with TIVADs at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Medical University from 1 January 2019 to 31 August 2021 were analysed. Thrombotic occlusion was confirmed by angiography with signs of partial or total occlusion. Thrombotic occlusion occurred in 96 (6.1%) cases. Asphalt pavements are prone to cracking in low-temperature environments, and microwave heating (MH) can heal the cracks effectively. This research mainly investigates the different MH effects on the self-healing properties of asphalt mixtures. With this objective, the three-point splitting test is conducted to generate the cracks. A microwave oven is employed to heat the samples, and a thermal camera measures the surface temperature. Results indicate that heating power and time show a positive linear correlation with healing efficiency, and the HI of the samples can reach over 80%. The HI of the samples decreases with the heating cycle, but the sample with reasonable power and time still has a HI higher than 70% after 5 cycles. The temperature peaks on thermal images indicate that uneven heating exists during heating, but the heating uniformity is within an acceptable range. The healing efficiency level (HEL) suggests that asphalt mixtures have very low inefficient healing behavior if the heating time is below 45 s, but HEL can reach 86.14% at 700 W after 60 s. Furthermore, although the HI of strength shows ideal results, the recovery of other crack parameters, including stiffness, fracture energy, flexible index, and crack resistance index, are not satisfactory.

Abstract Deep learning-based object detection methods have achieved great performance improvement. However, since small kernel convolution has been widely used, the semantic feature is difficult to obtain due to the small receptive fields, and the key information cannot be highlighted, resulting in a series of problems such as wrong detection, missing detection, and repeated detection. To overcome these problems, we propose a large kernel convolution object detection network based on feature capture enhancement and vast receptive field attention, called LKC-Net. Firstly, a feature capture enhancement block based on large kernel convolution is proposed to improve the semantic feature capturing ability, and depth convolution is used to reduce the number of parameters. Then, the vast receptive filed attention mechanism is constructed to enhance channel direction information extraction ability, and it is more compatible with the proposed backbone than other existing attention mechanisms. Finally, the loss function is improved by introducing the SIoU, which can overcome the angle mismatch problem between the ground truth and prediction box. Experiments are conducted on Pascal VOC and MS COCO datasets for demonstrating the performance of LKC-Net.

Abstract Ferroptosis is widely present in fibrosis-related diseases. The basic pathology of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) involves ovarian tissue fibrosis, and there are currently fewer relevant studies addressing the association between ferroptosis and POI. This study aimed to demonstrate that ferroptosis induced by cisplatin (CDDP) caused ovarian tissue fibrosis, leading to POI. Vitamin E (VE), a ferroptosis inhibitor, could repair damaged ovarian function. CDDP was used to establish a rat model of POI, and VE was administered to reverse the reproductive toxicity of CDDP. Ovarian function was assessed by histological section staining, follicle counts, sex hormone levels, as well as fertility assays. The extent of ferroptosis was assessed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), malondialdehyde (MDA), Perls staining. CCK-8, Ethynyl-2-Deoxyuridine (EdU), and scratch assays were used to determine the effect of CDDP and VE on ovarian granulosa cell (GC) viability. Western blot, quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate ferroptosis-related molecular changes. Our results showed that CDDP caused follicle development disorders and ovarian tissue fibrosis, the levels of sex hormones suggested impaired ovarian function, and VE could reverse the reproductive toxicity of CDDP. The results of TEM, MDA and Perls staining suggested that the typical mitochondrial signature of ferroptosis was altered in ovarian GCs from the CDDP group, with significantly higher levels of lipid peroxidation and significant iron deposition in ovarian tissue, whereas VE mitigated the extent of ferroptosis. Molecular experiments then confirmed that the ferroptosis-related molecules acetyl CoA synthetase long chain family member 4 (ACSl4), 15-lipoxygenase-1 (ALOX15), solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) were differentially expressed in each group. In summary, our study preliminarily demonstrated that CDDP may promote GCs to undergo ferroptosis, cause follicle development disorders, ovarian tissue fibrosis, and induce POI by regulating the expression of ACSl4, ALOX15, SLC7A11, and GPX4, while VE improved impaired ovarian function.

Objective To investigate the knowledge acquisition status for blood transfusion of transfusion related medical staff in underdeveloped cities in western China and explore its influencing factors. Methods A questionnaire consisted of blood transfusion laws and regulations, clinical blood transfusion theory and blood transfusion technology was designed, randomly distributed to medical staff and blood transfusion departmenttechnicians of 17 secondary/tertiary hospitals in Wuwei and then collected on the spot. The knowledge acquisition of blood transfusion of each group was compared using statistical description method, and its influencing factors were analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 507 questionnaires were issued, and 498 valid questionnaires (98.22%) were collected. Existing anchor-free object detection methods have achieved some amazing results, but these methods are relatively complex and the inference speed is also slow. In this paper, an anchor-free lightweight object detection network is proposed. The proposed method effectively overcomes the limitation of detection model by anchor-free mechanism, and the lightweight backbone network reduces the computational cost. In addition, the proposed small object enhancement module can enhance the focus on small objects, which improves the detection capability of small objects. Besides, a label assignment strategy is proposed to determine the prominent feature, and a center correction mechanism is introduced to make the predicted bounding box closer to the ground truth to further improve the detection accuracy. Extensive experiments are conducted on MS COCO and Pascal VOC datasets, and the results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better results than the existing detection methods on detection accuracy by increasing 0.5% on the MS COCO dataset, and has a detection accuracy increase of 0.4% on the Pascal VOC dataset, which proves the superiority of the proposed method.

Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) plays a vital role in the development of computer vision applications. The depth neural network composed of U-shaped structures and jump connections is widely used in various medical image tasks. Recently, based on the self-attention mechanism, the Transformer structure has made great progress and tends to replace CNN, and it has great advantages in understanding global information. In this paper, the ConvWin Transformer structure is proposed, which refers to the W-MSA structure in Swin and combines with the convolution. It can not only accelerate the convergence speed, but also enrich the information exchange between patches and improve the understanding of local information. Then, it is integrated with UNet, a U-shaped architecture commonly used in medical image segmentation, to form a structure called ConvWin-UNet. Meanwhile, this paper improves the patch expanding layer to perform the upsampling operation. The experimental results on the Hubmap datasets and synapse multi-organ segmentation dataset indicate that the proposed ConvWin-UNet structure achieves excellent results. Compared with common intelligent service, full-scene intelligent service has its uniqueness in high integration, synergy, and technological spillover. However, the traditional service or business model theories cannot precisely elaborate its sociotechnical contextual nature and value creation logic. To fill this knowledge gap, we provide initial insights into the value co-creation logic in full-scene intelligent service by exploring the value co-creation elements using a data-driven text mining approach. We analyzed 171 business reports on the full-scene intelligent service by the topic modeling using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). The findings reveal three main clusters: value proposition, participants, and connection platform. This study presents a theoretical framework for a further exploratory case study and quantitative research on full-scene intelligent service. This study also helps small and medium-sized enterprises to explore and exploit value co-creation opportunities.

Background This study was performed to explore the causal association between asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods We obtained summary statistics for asthma from 408,442 Europeans in an open genome-wide association study (GWAS) from the UK Biobank to select strongly associated single nucleotide polymorphisms that could serve as instrumental variables for asthma (P < 5×10−8). Additional summary statistics for COPD were obtained from 193,638 individuals of European ancestry in the GWAS published by FinnGen. Univariable Mendelian randomization(UVMR) analysis was performed using inverse variance weighted (IVW) as the primary method of analysis. The reliability of the results was verified by multivariable MR(MVMR), reverse and replication MR analysis, and sensitivity analysis. Results In the UVMR analysis, asthma increased the risk of COPD, with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.27 (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.16–1.39, P = 5.44×10−7). Estimates were consistent in MVMR analyses by the adjustments of smoking initiation, age of smoking initiation, cigarettes per day, PM 2.5, and the combination of the above factors. In the reverse MR analysis, there was no evidence of a causal effect of COPD on asthma risk(OR = 1.02, 95% CI = 0.97–1.07, P = 0.3643). In the replication MR analysis, asthma still increased the risk of COPD. Sensitivity analyses validated the robustness of the above associations. Conclusions We found that genetically predicted asthma was positively associated with the risk of COPD. Additionally, there was no evidence that COPD increases the risk of asthma. Further clarification of this link and underlying mechanisms is needed to identify feasible measures to promote COPD prevention.

This study investigated drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) in the Yi ethnic group. The study was designed to identify risk factors for DR-TB and its relationship with HIV/AIDS. To establish the resistance to antituberculosis drugs, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was performed using culture-positive Mycobacterium tuberculosis samples collected from people of the Yi ethnic group from March 2019 to March 2021. Baseline characteristics were obtained from China’s tuberculosis surveillance system. A total of 116 M. tuberculosis strains were included in the final analysis. Lineage 2.2 (75.86%) was the dominant sublineage, followed by lineage 4.5 (18.97%) and lineage 4.4 (5.17%). The rates of rifampicin-resistant (RR-TB), multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB), and preextensively drug-resistant TB (pre-XDR-TB) were 18.97%, 10.34%, and 6.03%, respectively. Drug-resistant strains were not found in the elderly (age≥65 years). The proportions of RR/MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB cases among re-treatment patients were higher than those among new patients (χ2=12.155, P=0.003; χ2=22.495, P=0.001, respectively). The pre-XDR-TB case proportions were higher among female patients than among males and higher among referred patients (χ2=5.456, P=0.032; χ2=15.134, P=0.002, respectively). The rates of RR/MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB did not differ appreciably among groups with different HIV infection statuses nor lineage populations. DR-TB poses a serious challenge to the Yi ethnic group. Re-treatment patients, women, and referred patients were at high risk of MDR/RR-TB or pre-XDR-TB while HIV and lineage 2 had negligible association with drug resistance. Whole-genome sequencing should be used to guide the design of treatment regimens and to tailor public interventions.

Abstract Background The Artemisia species are widely distributed around the world, and have found important usage in traditional medicinal practice. This study was designed to investigate the metabolites of Tibetan Artemisia species and understand the metabolic pathways. Methods The metabolites from three Artemisia species in Tibet, were analyzed using LC–MS/MS. The differential metabolites were classified and analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares analysis and hierarchical clustering. KEGG Pathway enrichment analysis was used to identify the key metabolic pathways involved in the differential metabolites of three Artemisia species. Result The metabolites of three Artemisia species were analyzed. Under the positive ion mode in LC–MS/MS, 262 distinct metabolites were differentially detected from Artemisia sieversiana and Artemisia annua, 312 differential metabolites were detected from Artemisia wellbyi and Artemisia sieversiana, 306 differential metabolites were screened from Artemisia wellbyi and Artemisia annua. With the negative ion mode, 106 differential metabolites were identified from Artemisia sieversiana and Artemisia annua, 131 differential metabolites were identified from Artemisia wellbyi and Artemisia sieversiana,133 differential metabolites were differentially detected from Artemisia wellbyi and Artemisia annua. The selected differential metabolites were mainly organic acids and their derivatives, ketones, phenols, alcohols and coumarins. Among these natural compounds, artemisinin, has the highest relative content in Artemisia annua. Conclusions This is the first reported attempt to comparatively determine the types of the metabolites of the three widely distributed Artemisia species in Tibet. The information should help medicinal research and facilitate comprehensive development and utilization of Artemisia species in Tibet.

Abstract Background Conventional MR imaging has limited value in identifying H3 K27M mutations. We aimed to investigate the capacity of quantitative MR imaging variables in identifying the H3 K27M mutation status of diffuse midline glioma. Materials and Methods Twenty‐three patients with H3 K27M mutation and thirty‐two wild‐type patients were recruited in this retrospective study, all of whom underwent multimodal MR imaging. Clinical data and quantitative MR imaging variables were explored by subgroup analysis stratified by age (juveniles and adults). Then, a logistic model for all patients was constructed to identify potential variables for predicting K27M mutation status. Besides, a retrospective validation set including 13 patients was recruited. The C‐index and F1 score were used to evaluate the performance of the prediction model. Results It turned out that patients with H3 K27M mutation were younger in the adult subgroup. In the mutation group, some relative apparent diffusion coefficient (rADC) histogram parameters and myo‐inositol/creatine plus phosphocreatine (Ins/tCr) ratio were lower than in the wild‐type group of both juveniles and adults (p

Flexible conductive sensor materials have received great attention for their sensitive electrical response to external conditions and their promising applications in flexible wearable and robotic applications. In this work, a highly stretchable force sensitive and temperature sensitive sensor material with a sandwich structure was prepared from the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and the liquid metal (LM) gallium–indium–tin alloy (GaInSn). The sandwich structure (PDMS + PDMS/GaInSn + PDMS) was proven to prevent the “leakage” of LM. The preparation method of the sensing material was simple and time-saving (less than 1.5 h) and can be used for industrial production. The electrical performance analysis results confirmed that the resistance (R) of the material was sensitive to the external force, such as repeated stretching, compressing, bending, and impacting. The ΔR/R changed periodically and stably with the repeated stretching, when the GaInSn/Part A ≥ 0.4, the cyclic tensile strain ≤ 50%, and the cyclic tensile rate ≤ 2.5 mm/min. The R of the sensor materials was also responsive to the temperature, such as hot air and liquid nitrogen. In conclusion, this work provides a method for preparing sensing materials with the sandwich structure, which was confirmed to be sensitive to force and temperature without leaking LM, and it produced different types of R signals under different deformations and different temperatures.

For unmanned electric drive chassis parameter optimization problems, an unmanned electric drive chassis model containing power systems and energy systems was built using CRUISE, and as the traditional genetic algorithm is prone to falling into the local optima, an improved isolation niche genetic algorithm based on KOHONEN network clustering (KIGA) is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed KIGA can reasonably divide the initial niche populations. Compared with the traditional genetic algorithm (GA) and the isolation niche genetic algorithm (IGA), KIGA can achieve faster convergence and a better global search ability. The comprehensive performance of the unmanned electric drive chassis in terms of power and economy was increased by 8.26% with a set of better solutions. The results show that simultaneous power system and energy system parameter optimization can enhance unmanned electric drive chassis performance and that KIGA is an efficient method for optimizing the parameters of unmanned electric drive chassis.

Visual navigation based on image matching has become one of the most important research fields for UAVs to achieve autonomous navigation, because of its low cost, strong anti-jamming ability, and high performance. Currently, numerous positioning and navigation methods based on visual information have been proposed for UAV navigation. However, the appearance, shape, color, and texture of objects can change significantly due to different lighting conditions, shadows, and surface coverage during different seasons, such as vegetation cover in summer or ice and snow cover in winter. These changes pose greater challenges for feature-based image matching methods. This encouraged us to overcome the limitations of previous works, which did not consider significant seasonal changes such as snow-covered UAV aerial images, by proposing an image matching method using season-changing UAV aerial images and satellite imagery. Following the pipeline of a two-channel deep convolutional neural network, we first pre-scaled the UAV aerial images, ensuring that the UAV aerial images and satellite imagery had the same ground sampling distance. Then, we introduced attention mechanisms to provide additional supervision for both low-level local features and high-level global features, resulting in a new season-specific feature representation. The similarity between image patches was calculated using a similarity measurement layer composed of two fully connected layers. Subsequently, we conducted template matching to estimate the UAV matching position with the highest similarity. Finally, we validated our proposed method on both synthetic and real UAV aerial image datasets, and conducted direct comparisons with previous popular works. The experimental results demonstrated that our method achieved the highest matching accuracy on multi-temporal and multi-season images.

Swainsonine-containing plants contain swainsonine which has been shown to cause neurological signs and pathological changes in farm animals. It causes a large number of livestock poisonings every year resulting in economic losses to the livestock industry. At present, “Jifang E” is used in the prevention of swainsonine-containing plants poisoning livestock, and the preventive effects have been well-documented. However, “Jifang E” is typically administered in drinking water, making it difficult to control the administered dosage, because of feeding difficulties and it may cause certain side effects that are unique to the water-dissolved powder. To overcome these difficulties, we developed a temperature-sensitive gel for injection and the optimal ratio of each formula of sustained-release injection is P407 (24%), P188 (6%), Vitamin C (1%), PEG4000 (0.5%), and “Jifang E” (10%). Our results suggest that novel formulation makes the micellar system more stable and the particles are uniformly dispersed. Colloidal morphological studies showed that each group formed a homogeneous pore structure after gelling, and the structure became more dense with the addition of “Jifang E”. The rheological study shows that “Jifang E” is a pseudoplastic fluid, and the addition of “Jifang E” reduces the viscosity of the formula, which is beneficial to the injection. In vitro and in vivo release rate studies have shown that the effective concentration of “Jifang E” can be maintained for 3 to 5 days. The acute toxicity test in SPF Kunming mice showed that its LD50 was 828.323 mg/kg, with confidence limits of 676.706–1013.911 mg/kg, which is a safe dosage (LD50 > 200 mg/kg). There were no observed reactions of muscle irritation or subcutaneous tissue irritation with the dosage used for New Zealand rabbits. In summary, we successfully developed the sustained-release injection formulation of “Jifang E” for the prevention of swainsonine-containing plants poisoning livestock, which provides the basis for subsequent field extension trials and the further study of its detoxification mechanism.

The benthic and tube-building polychaete worm Mesochaetopterus japonicus is abundantly present on the coast of the western Pacific. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of M. japonicus, which is 19,326 bp in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes and 22 tRNA genes. All 37 genes are encoded on the heavy strand, and AT content is 70.17%. Phylogenetic analyses based on the M. japonicus mitogenome combined with previously published polychaete mitogenome data revealed that M. japonicus was closely related to Chaetopterus variopedatus and Phyllochaetopterus sp., all of which belong to Chaetopteridae. The mitochondrial genome of M. japonicus could provide useful molecular resources for further research on Polychaeta phylogeny and evolution.

Abstract Background The tumor microenvironment (TME) has received an increasing amount of attention. CXC chemokines can regulate immune cell transport and tumor cell activity to exert anti-tumor immunity. However, studies on the expression and prognosis of CXC chemokines in cervical cancer (CC) are more limited. Methods The study investigated the role of CXC chemokines in TME of CC by using public databases. Moreover, quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) of CXC chemokines were performed to further verify. Results The transcriptional levels of CXCL1/3/5/6/8/9/10/11/13/16/17 in CC tissues were significantly elevated while the transcriptional levels of CXCL12/14 were significantly reduced. We reached a consistent conclusion that the expression of CXCL9/10/11/13 was verified by quantitative real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry. Moreover, CC patients with low transcriptional levels of CXCL1/2/3/4/5/8 were significantly associated with longer overall survival (OS). The CCL family was related to CXC chemokines neighboring alteration. RELA, NFKB1, LCK and PAK2 were the key transcription factors and kinase targets of CXC chemokines, respectively. We also found there were significant correlations between the expression of CXCL9/10/11 and the infiltration of immune cells (CD8+ T cell, CD4+ T cell, neutrophils and dendritic cells). Conclusions In brief, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of CXC chemokines via clinical data and some online public databases. Our results may provide a new idea for the selection of immunotherapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers for cervical cancer.

Vibrio alginolyticus (V. alginolyticus) is one of the major pathogens causing mass mortality of shrimps worldwide, affecting energy metabolism, immune response and development of shrimps. In the context of the prohibition of antibiotics, it is necessary to develop a drug that can protect shrimp from V. alginolyticus. Andrographolide (hereinafter called Andr), a traditional drug used in Chinese medicine, which possesses diverse biological effects including anti-bacteria, antioxidant, immune regulation. In this study, we investigated the effect of Andr on growth, immunity, and resistance to V. alginolyticus infection of Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei) and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms. Four diets were formulated by adding Andr at the dosage of 0 g/kg (Control), 0.5 g/kg, 1 g/kg, and 2 g/kg in the basal diet, respectively. Each diet was randomly fed to one group with three replicates of shrimps in a 4-week feeding trial. The results showed that dietary Andr improved the growth performance and non-specific immune function of shrimps. L. vannamei fed with Andr diets showed lower mortality after being challenged by V. alginolyticus. After 6 h of V. alginolyticus infection, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, tissue injury, apoptosis, expression of inflammatory factors (IL-1 β and TNFα) and apoptosis-related genes (Bax, caspase3 and p53) were increased in hemocytes and hepatopancreas, while feeding diet with 0.5 g/kg Andr could inhibit the increase. Considering that JNK are important mediators of apoptosis, we examined the influence of Andr on JNK activity during V. alginolyticus infection. We found that Andr inhibited JNK activation induced by V. alginolyticus infection on L. vannamei. The ROS scavenger N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) suppressed V. alginolyticus-induced inflammation and apoptosis, suggesting that ROS play an important role in V. alginolyticus-induced inflammation and apoptosis. Treated cells with JNK specific activator anisomycin, the inflammation and apoptosis inhibited by Andr were counteracted. Collectively, Andr promote the growth and immunity of L. vannamei, and protects shrimps against V. alginolyticus by regulating inflammation and apoptosis via a ROS-JNK dependent pathway. These results improve the understanding of the pathogenesis of V. alginolyticus infection and provide clues to the development of effective drugs against V. alginolyticus.

CircRNAs have been the focus of research in recent years. They are differentially expressed in various human tumors and can regulate oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes expression through various mechanisms. The diversity, stability, evolutionary conservatism and cell- or tissue-specific expression patterns of circRNAs also endow them with important regulatory roles in promoting or inhibiting tumor cells malignant biological behaviors progression. More interestingly, emerging studies also found that circRNAs can regulate not only other genes expression, but also their parental gene expression and thus influence tumors development. Apart from some conventional features, circRNAs have a certain specificity in the regulation of parental gene expression, with a higher proportion affecting parental gene transcription and easier translation into protein to regulate parental gene expression. CircRNAs are generally thought to be unable to produce proteins and therefore the protein-coding ability exhibited by circRNAs in regulating parental gene expression is unique and indicates that the regulatory effects of parental gene expression by circRNAs are not only a competitive binding relationship, but also a more complex molecular relationship between circRNAs and parental gene, which deserves further study. This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms of circRNAs regulating parental gene expression and their biological roles in tumorigenesis and development, aiming to provide new ideas for the clinical application of circRNAs in tumor-targeted therapy.

Concrete is a building material that is most widely used because of its excellent mechanical performance and durability. Compressive strength is an essential property of concrete, which changes with time under various factors. In this paper, the time variation law of the compressive strength of concrete was reviewed from three aspects: single, multiple and material internal factors. The mathematical models of compressive strength relative to time under single factors such as carbonization, freeze–thaw cycle, temperature effect and sulfate attack were summarized. Based on the statistical analysis of laboratory experimental data and field test data, the time variation laws of concrete under the coupling action of two or more factors were analyzed. The results show that the strength loss of concrete under the coupling effect of multiple factors is more serious than under the effect of a single factor. In addition, the time variation models of compressive strength in existing buildings were discussed, and it was observed that there are obvious differences between these models. After analysis, it is known that the different data sources and normalization methods are the primary causes of differences. Finally, the influences of concrete internal factors on compressive strength were outlined. The main conclusions of the time variation law of compressive strength were summarized, and further research directions were also proposed.

Abstract Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurobehavioral disorder for which the neurological mechanism has not been elucidated. Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) studies have revealed abnormalities in gray matter volume (GMV) in patients with TS; however, consistent results have not been obtained. The current study attempted to provide a voxel wise meta-analysis of gray matter changes using seed-based d mapping (SDM). We identified ten relevant studies that investigated gray matter alterations in TS patients and performed a meta-analysis using the SDM method to quantitatively estimate regional gray matter abnormalities. Next, we examined the relationships between GMV abnormalities and demographic and clinical characteristics. Our results demonstrated that TS patients had smaller GMV in the bilateral inferior frontal gyri and greater GMV in the cerebellum, right striatum (putamen), and bilateral thalami (pulvinar nucleus) than healthy controls. A meta-regression analysis did not identify correlations between GMV changes and demographic or clinical variables. This meta-analysis confirmed significant and consistent GMV changes in several brain regions of TS patients, primarily in the cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical network.

A new species of the ampharetid genus Amphicteis, A. hwanghaiensis sp. nov., is described based on material from the Yellow Sea. The new species is characterized by the possession of long, stout, golden paleae with blunt tips, digitiform rudimentary notopodia on the abdominal uncinigers, uncini with a subrostral process, and a narrow rectangular hump separating branchial groups. Amphicteis dalmatica was redescribed from type materials at the Australian Museum, Sydney, and the differences between A. dalmatica and A. hwanghaiensis sp. nov. are discussed. A key to distinguish Amphicteis species described or reported in Western Pacific waters is provided.

ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE3 (RHD3) is a plant member of atlastin GTPases, which belong to an evolutionally conserved family of proteins that mediate the homotypic fusion of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). An atlastin in mammalian cells has recently been shown to act as an ER-phagy receptor for selective autophagy of the ER (ER-phagy) during nutrient starvation. Although RHD3 has been indicated to play a role in ER stress response, it is not very clear how RHD3 is involved in the process. In this study, we showed that the rhd3 mutant is hyposensitive to ER as well as salt stress. We employed an YFP-tagged ER membrane marker YFP-TMC to monitor the efficiency of ER-phagy microscopically and biochemically. We found that rhd3 is defective in ER-phagy under ER stress. Furthermore, there is an increased association of YFP-RHD3 with ATG8e-marked autophagosomes. YFP-RHD3 is also visible with ATG8e in the vacuole, and there is a breakdown of YFP-RHD3 under ER stress. RHD3 has two putative ATG8 interaction motifs (AIM1-2). We revealed that RHD3 but not RHD3(ΔAIM1) physically interacts with ATG8, a core autophagosomal component that interacts with various receptor proteins to recruit cargos for degradation by selective autophagy. Furthermore, their interaction is enhanced under ER stress. We thus propose that RHD3 acts as an ER-phagy receptor under ER stress to promote ER-phagy in Arabidopsis.

In order to improve the effect of future environmental landscape design, this study combines artificial intelligence technology and digital space technology to construct an environmental landscape design system. Moreover, this study uses polygons to model external landscape plants instead of modeling the microelement structure of landscape plants and re-polygonize them, which simplifies the model structure of landscape plants and improves computational efficiency. In addition, this study conducts collision detection in the growth of landscape plants to make it more realistic and more efficient and studies and analyzes the digital construction of landscape plants. Finally, after constructing an intelligent system, the effect of the system in this study is verified. Through data analysis, it can be seen that the environmental landscape design system based on artificial intelligence and digital space technology proposed in this study has good digital space structure expression effect and design effect.

Abstract Neuronal primary cilia are crucial for body weight maintenance. Type III adenylyl cyclase (AC3) is abundantly enriched in neuronal cilia, and mice with global AC3 ablation are obese. However, whether AC3 regulates body weight through its ciliary expression and the mechanism underlying this potential regulation are not clear. In this study, humanized AC3 knock‐in mice that are resistant to high‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced obesity are generated, and increases in the number and length of cilia in the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMH) are shown. It is demonstrated that mice with specifically knocked down ciliary AC3 expression in the VMH show pronounced HFD‐induced obesity. In addition, in vitro and in vivo analyses of the VMH show that ciliary AC3 regulates autophagy by binding an autophagy‐related gene, gamma‐aminobutyric acid A receptor‐associated protein (GABARAP). Mice with GABARAP knockdown in the VMH exhibit exacerbated HFD‐induced obesity. Overall, the findings may reveal a potential mechanism by which ciliary AC3 expression regulates body weight in the mouse VMH.

Abstract Background MiR-199a-3p (miR-199a) can enhance the chemosensitivity of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Because of the easy degradation of miRNA by direct infusion, effective vehicle-mediated delivery of miR-199a may represent a new strategy for improving HCC chemotherapy. Considering mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes as promising natural nanovectors for drug and molecule delivery, we aimed to determine whether exosomes from adipose tissue-derived MSCs (AMSCs) could be used to deliver miR-199a and improve HCC chemosensitivity. Methods MiR-199a-modified AMSCs (AMSC-199a) were constructed by miR-199a lentivirus infection and puromycin selection. MiR-199-modified exosomes (AMSC-Exo-199a) were isolated from the supernatant of AMSC-199a and were assessed by transmission electron microscopy, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and flow cytometry analysis. The expression levels of miR-199a in HCC samples, AMSCs, exosomes, and HCC cells were quantified by real-time PCR. The effects of AMSC-Exo-199a on HCC chemosensitivity were determined by cell proliferation and apoptosis assays and by i.v. injection into orthotopic HCC mouse models with doxorubicin treatment. MTOR, p-4EBP1 and p-70S6K levels in HCC cells and tissues were quantified by Western blot. Results AMSC-Exo-199a had the classic characteristics of exosomes and could effectively mediate miR-199a delivery to HCC cells. Additionally, AMSC-Exo-199a significantly sensitized HCC cells to doxorubicin by targeting mTOR and subsequently inhibiting the mTOR pathway. Moreover, i.v.-injected AMSC-Exo-199a could distribute to tumor tissue and markedly increased the effect of Dox against HCC in vivo. Conclusions AMSC-Exo-199a can be an effective vehicle for miR-199a delivery, and they effectively sensitized HCC to chemotherapeutic agents by targeting mTOR pathway. AMSC-Exo-199a administration may provide a new strategy for improving HCC chemosensitivity.

In time series forecasting, a challenging and important task is to realize long-term prediction. This paper proposes a layered architecture based on backpropagation neural network. The proposed layered architecture consists of two layers. The first layer can find the optimum number of past time windows, and the second layer implements long-term prediction based on the obtained optimum number of windows. A series of experiments using publicly time series are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed architecture. The experimental results have revealed that the architecture has better performance in accuracy and stability.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are critical post-transcriptional regulators, which play a crucial role in resistance to adverse environmental stress by regulating autophagy. However, the mechanism of miRNA involved in the autophagy regulation of shrimp under ammonia nitrogen stress is still limited. In the present study, ammonia nitrogen could induce hepatopancreas injury and oxidative stress of P. vannamei, and significantly increase the content of ROS in hemocytes by flow cytometry. Simultaneously, it is accompanied by autophagy occurred in the hemocytes and hepatopancreas. Furthermore, the qRT-PCR analysis revealed that the expression of pva-miR-252 in P. vannamei decreased significantly after ammonia nitrogen stress, and pva-miR-252 negatively regulated PvPI3K by binding to 3′UTR of PvPI3K by double-luciferase assay. Pva-miR-252 overexpression could significantly increase the level of autophagy, and restore the autophagy inhibition caused by Chloroquine in vitro , whereas silencing of pva-miR-252 resulted in the opposite effect. More importantly, overexpression of pva-miR-252 could enhance the activity of antioxidant enzymes and reduced the production of ROS of shrimp under ammonia nitrogen stress. In conclusion, pva-miR-252 could positively regulate autophagy through PvPI3K and improve the antioxidant enzyme activity of P. vannamei under ammonia nitrogen stress, and our study provides a novel theoretical molecular mechanism for further understanding the shrimp cope with a high ammonia nitrogen environment.

Ficus hirta Vahl. has been reported to have hepatoprotective, antitumor, antibacterial functions, and is used to treat severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Ammonia nitrogen is one of the most common environmental stress factors in aquaculture. Long-term exposure to high concentrations of ammonia nitrogen can induce oxidative stress and increase the risk of infections. However, whether Ficus hirta Vahl. has effect on ammonia nitrogen stress is unclear. In present study we report that Ficus hirta Vahl. improves the activity of total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) of shrimp and decreases shrimp mortality caused by ammonia nitrogen stress. It is demonstrated that miR-2765 is negatively regulate the antioxidant capacity. We find that SOD was a direct target gene of miR-2765. MiR-2765 can bind to 3′-untranslated region (3′-UTR) of SOD to inhibit its transcription. Furthermore, Ficus hirta Vahl. down-regulates miR-2765 to activate the antioxidant capacity to alleviate the damage caused by ammonia nitrogen stress. Interestingly, overexpression of miR-2765 could attenuate the protective effect of Ficus hirta Vahl. on shrimp under ammonia nitrogen stress. These data indicate that Ficus hirta Vahl. alleviates the damage of ammonia nitrogen stress in shrimp by repressing miR-2765 and activating the antioxidant enzyme system. This study will provide a theoretical basis and a new perspective for assessing the toxicity mechanism of ammonia nitrogen in the process of farming on shrimp.

The electrode, as one of the most critical components in a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) cell for hydrogen production, has a significant impact on cell performance. Electrodes that are fabricated via various techniques may exhibit different morphologies or properties, which might change the kinetics and resistances of the PEMWE. In this study, we have successfully fabricated several electrodes by different techniques, and the effects of electrode coating methods (ultrasonic spray, blade coating, and rod coating), hot press, and decal transfer processes are comprehensively investigated. The performance differences between various electrodes are due to kinetic or high frequency resistance changes, while the influences are not significant, with the biggest deviation of about 26 mV at 2.0 A cm−2. In addition, the effects of catalyst ink compositions, including ionomer to catalyst ratio (0.1 to 0.3), water to alcohol ratio (1:1 to 3:1), and catalyst weight percentage (10% to 30%), are also studied, and the electrodes’ performance variations are less than 10 mV at 2.0 A cm−2. The results show that the PEMWE electrode has superior compatibility and redundancy, which demonstrates the high flexibility of the electrode and its applicability for large-scale manufacturing.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play key roles in many physiologic and pathologic processes, including autophagy. Autophagy is cellular in an emergency response mechanism of environment stress, but their complex molecular regulatory mechanism under low-temperature stress is largely unknown in shrimp, especially miRNA-mediated regulation of autophagy in low-temperature tolerance. In this article, a shrimp PvTOR and miRNA pva-miR-151 cooperation in response to low-temperature stress has been reported. Pva-miR-151 showed expression patterns opposite to target PvTOR under low-temperature stress. The pva-miR-151 targets the 3′-UTR region of PvTOR, regulate the formation of autophagosome, which contribute to the degradation and recycling of damaged organelles. In addition, the low-temperature tolerance was correlated positively with autophagy in shrimp. Silenced pva-miR-151 increased sensitivity to low-temperature stress, whereas overexpression pva-miR-151 decreased the expression of PvTOR and p-TOR and increased tolerance to low-temperature stress by improving the formation of autophagosome and total hemocyte count. In addition, the TOR activator 3BDO can partially rescue autophagy induced by overexpression of pva-miR-151; these results indicate that miR-151 was necessary for the low-temperature tolerance in shrimp. Taken together, we provide a novel strategy and mechanism for shrimp breeding to improve shrimp low-temperature tolerance.

This paper addresses the problem of economic time series forecasting, and a new prediction method is proposed. The method fully capitalizes on the two key technologies, sparse representation, and fuzzy set theory, to handle the stock time series forecasting problems. First, sparse representation is applied to smooth the time series. Then, the fuzzy technology is used to convert time series into fuzzy series. Based on the number of the occurrence of fuzzy sets, the weights are calculated. Finally, the future value of the time series can be forecasted using the weights and inverse transformation of sparse representation. The experimental results show that the proposed method produces more accurate forecasted results.

Previous studies have reported an important role of c-kit in embryogenesis and adulthood. Activation of the SCF/KIT signal transduction pathway is customarily linked to cell proliferation, migration and survival thus influence hematopoiesis, pigmentation, and spermatogenesis. The role of c-kit in the liver is controversial, it is however argued that it is a double-edged sword in liver regeneration and diseases. First, liver c-kit+ cells, including oval cells, bile epithelial cells, and part of hepatocytes, participate in liver tissue repair by regenerating target cells according to the type of liver injury. At the same time, c-kit+ mast cells, act as immature progenitors in circulation, playing a critical role in liver fibrosis. Furthermore, c-kit is also a proto-oncogene. Notably, c-kit overexpression regulates gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Various studies have explored on c-kit and hepatocellular carcinoma, nevertheless, the intricate roles of c-kit in the liver are largely understudied. Herein, we extensively summarize previous studies geared toward providing hints for future clinical and basic research.

Specimens of the genus Loimia (Annelida, Terebellidae) deposited in the Marine Biological Museum of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (MBMCAS) together with materials newly collected from China seas were examined. Based on morphological comparisons and molecular analysis, some specimens collected from the coasts of Shandong province and Guangxi province were confirmed as two new Loimia species respectively (Loimia borealis sp. n. and Loimia macrobranchia sp. n.). Morphologically, L. borealis sp. n. is distinguished from previously known species of this genus by having seven equal sized ventral shields, with length five times the width; this species was retrieved as sister to the clades of Loimia arborea Moore, 1903 and Loimia bandera Hutchings, 1990 in the phylogenetic tree, which was reconstructed based on mitochondrial COI gene. Loimia macrobranchia sp. n. differs from congeners by the large size of its first pair of branchiae with a thick main stem and about 18 dendritic branches arranged in two levels. A key to identifying Loimia species found in Chinese seas is given.

Background: Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a debilitating illness whose neural basis remains unclear. Studies using tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) have demonstrated differences in white matter (WM) microarchitecture in AN, but the findings are inconclusive and controversial.Objectives: To identify the most consistent WM abnormalities among previous TBSS studies of differences in WM microarchitecture in AN.Methods: By systematically searching online databases, a total of 11 datasets were identified, including 245 patients with AN and 246 healthy controls (HC). We used Seed-based d Mapping to analyze fractional anisotropy (FA) differences between AN patients and HC, and performed meta-regression analysis to explore the effects of clinical characteristics on WM abnormalities in AN.Results: The pooled results of all AN patients showed robustly lower FA in the corpus callosum (CC) and the cingulum compared to HC. These two regions preserved significance in the sensitivity analysis as well as in all subgroup analyses. Fiber tracking showed that the WM tracts primarily involved were the body of the CC and the cingulum bundle. Meta-regression analysis revealed that the body mass index and mean age were not linearly correlated with the lower FA.Conclusions: The most consistent WM microstructural differences in AN were in the interhemispheric connections and limbic association fibers. These common “targets” advance our understanding of the complex neural mechanisms underlying the puzzling symptoms of AN, and may help in developing early treatment approaches.

Rutting is one of the dominant pavement distresses, hence, the accuracy of rut depth measurements can have a substantial impact on the maintenance and rehabilitation (M & R) strategies and funding allocation. Different computation algorithms such as straight-edge method and wire line method, which are based on the same raw data, may lead to rut depth estimation which are not always consistent. Therefore, there is an urgent need to assess the impact of algorithm types on the accuracy of rut depth computation. In this paper, a 13-point-based laser sensor detection technology, commonly accepted in China for rut depth measurements, was used to obtain a database of 85,000 field transverse profiles having three representative rutting shapes with small, medium and high severity rut levels. Based on the reconstruction of real transverse profiles, the consequences from two different algorithms were compared. Results showed that there is a combined effect of rut depth and profile shape on the rut depth computation accuracy. As expected, the difference between the results obtained with the two computation methods increases with deeper rutting sections: when the distress is above 15 mm (severe level), the average difference between the two computation methods is above 1.5 mm, normally, the wire line method provides larger results. The computation suggests that the rutting shapes have a minimal influence on the results. An in-depth analysis showed that the upheaval outside of the wheel path is a dominant shape factor which results in higher computation differences.

Elucidating the mechanism of resistance to biotic and abiotic stress is of great importance in cotton. In this study, a gene containing the NAC domain, designated GbNAC1, was identified from Gossypium barbadense L. Homologous sequence alignment indicated that GbNAC1 belongs to the TERN subgroup. GbNAC1 protein localized to the cell nucleus. GbNAC1 was expressed in roots, stems, and leaves, and was especially highly expressed in vascular bundles. Functional analysis showed that cotton resistance to Verticillium wilt was reduced when the GbNAC1 gene was silenced using the virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) method. GbNAC1-overexpressing Arabidopsis showed enhanced resistance to Verticillium dahliae compared to wild-type. Thus, GbNAC1 is involved in the positive regulation of resistance to Verticillium wilt. In addition, analysis of GbNAC1-overexpressing Arabidopsis under different stress treatments indicated that it is involved in plant growth, development, and response to various abiotic stresses (ABA, mannitol, and NaCl). This suggests that GbNAC1 plays an important role in resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses in cotton. This study provides a foundation for further study of the function of NAC genes in cotton and other plants.

In this paper we describe the maker concept, movement and culture and its impact on and relationship with libraries. We provide a comprehensive review of library makerspaces in North America supported by several case studies. We intend this review to be used as a reference resource or tool for libraries planning to implement a new makerspace.

Polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete (PFRC) is a cement-based composite material with short-cut fibers which has been utilized to provide multidimensional reinforcement and enhance toughness of concrete. However, this improvement is closely related to the microstructural morphology of the concrete. A nondestructive technique using X-ray computed tomography (CT) was therefore used to grasp the microscopic texture of PFRC samples. The results showed that the orientation of microcracks, which appear in the interfacial transition zone, are along the surface of the coarse aggregate. The range of distribution of fibers is proportional to fiber volume fraction. The coarse aggregate influence distribution and orientation of polypropylene fibers whose shape are mainly fold line and curve. The dispersion of pores with small volume is uniform, and the distance between the pores with larger volume is short. The proportion of pores with the diameter in the range 0∼199 μm exceeds 70%, of which the sum of volume exceeds a half of total volume with the amount being about 1% of total amount.

Shrinkage has been proven to be an important property of early age concrete. The shrinkage strain leads to inherent engineering problems, such as cracking and loss of prestress. Atmospheric temperature is an important factor in shrinkage strain. However, current research does not provide much attention to the effect of atmospheric temperature on shrinkage of early age concrete. In this paper, a laboratory study was undertaken to present the time-dependent shrinkage of early age concrete under temperature variation. A newly developed Material Deformation Tester (MDT), which can simulate consecutive variation of atmospheric temperature, was used to collect the shrinkage strain of specimens and temperature data. A numerical model was established to describe the thermoelastic strain of a specimen. The results show that (1) there are several sharp shrinkages up to 600 μ for early age concrete in the first 3 days; (2) the absolute value of shrinkage strain is larger than thermal strain; and (3) the difference of shrinkage strain under temperature variation or constant temperature is up to 500 μ.
