Purpose: Matrix metalloproteinase-11 (MMP11), which belongs to the stromelysin subgroup, has been reported to play a role in the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the significance of MMP11 in the tumor microenvironment, immune/stromal cells, and its mechanism in CRC remain unclear. Methods: The impact of MMP11 knockdown using specific short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs) on the metastasis and invasion of colorectal cancer RKO and SW480 cells was investigated using western blot, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), transwell assays, and immunohistochemistry. Results: MMP11 mRNA expression was significantly higher in CRC cells than in normal cells, and its expression was stimulated in CCD-18Co fibroblasts. Additionally, MMP11 expression was found to be higher in individuals aged ≤ 65 years, the T4/T3 group, and Stage III/IV patients. Overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival rates were significantly different between the high and low MMP11 groups. Furthermore, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves for MMP11 at 1-, 3-, and 5-years were 0.450, 0.552, and 0.560, respectively. Moreover, MMP11 promoted the migration and invasion of CRC cells by elevating the expression of Slug protein. Most importantly, MMP11 was positively associated with M0-macrophages and negatively associated with M1-macrophages, NK cells activated, NK cells resting, T cells CD4 memory activated, and T cells follicular helper, indicating the remarkable interactions of MMP11 with tumor immunology. There is substantial evidence from clinical and preclinical studies suggesting an association between metformin use and a reduced risk of cancer. However, the effects of metformin use on cancers have not yet been subjected to bibliometric analysis. The goal of this study was to explore the potential effects of metformin use on cancers and to conduct a comprehensive assessment of research hotspots related to the use of metformin on cancers. The results of the literature analysis were visualized using various tools such as Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometric." The average annual publications from 2013 to 2023 was 372. In terms of journals and co-cited journals, a total of 1,064 journals published 1958 papers, and Oncotarget published the highest number of papers (n = 153, 7.81%), while Cancer Research (Co-citation = 5,125) was the most frequently cited journal. A total of 25,665 authors participated in the research on metformin use on cancers. Metformin has demonstrated improved outcomes in various types of cancer, including breast cancer (BC), lung cancer (LC), colorectal cancer (CRC), prostate cancer (PC), and pancreatic cancer. Previous studies have confirmed that servant leadership has a positive impact on thriving at work, however, the psychological mechanism in this process has not been fully understood. Based on Self-Determination Theory, this study examines the mediating effect of basic psychological needs and the moderating effect of power distance on the relationship between servant leadership and followers' thriving at work. The results from the between-subject experimental design (Study 1) indicate that servant leadership can satisfy followers' three basic psychological needs. And the results from a questionnaire survey of 455 civil servants at two-time points (Study 2) indicate: (1) Servant leadership has a significantly positive impact on followers' thriving at work; (2) All three basic psychological needs satisfaction serve as a mediator in the relationship between servant leadership and followers' thriving at work; (3) Power distance negatively moderates the relationship between servant leadership and the satisfaction of three basic psychological needs, meaning that the lower on the power distance, the stronger the positive relationship between servant leadership and the satisfaction of three basic psychological needs; (4) Power distance negatively moderates the mediating effects of competence needs satisfaction and relatedness needs satisfaction in the relationship between servant leadership and followers' thriving at work, indicating that the lower on the power distance, the stronger the mediating effects. Our findings highlight the important role of servant leadership in fostering followers' thriving at work and explore the critical role of basic psychological needs satisfaction. Inflammation and hypoxia are involved in numerous cancer progressions. Reportedly, the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor kappa B (NF- κ B) pathway and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 α (HIF-1 α ) are activated and closely related to the chemoresistance and poor prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). However, the potential correlation between TLR4/NF- κ B and HIF-1 α remains largely unknown in EOC. In our study, the possible positive correlation among TLR4, NF- κ B, and HIF-1 α proteins was investigated in the EOC tissues. Our in vitro results demonstrated that LPS can induce and activate HIF-1 α through the TLR4/NF- κ B signaling in A2780 and SKOV3 cells. Moreover, hypoxia-induced TLR4 expression and the downstream transcriptional activity of NF- κ B were HIF-1 α -dependent. The cross talk between the TLR4/NF- κ B signaling pathway and HIF-1 α was also confirmed in the nude mice xenograft model. Therefore, we first proposed the formation of a TLR4/NF- κ B/HIF-1 α loop in EOC. The positive feedback loop enhanced the susceptibility and responsiveness to inflammation and hypoxia, which synergistically promote the initiation and progression of EOC.
