Abstract Prediabetes and related complications constitute significant public health burdens globally. As an indicator closely associated with abnormal glucose metabolism and atherosclerosis, the utility of Pulse Pressure Index (PPI) as a prediabetes risk marker has not been explored. We performed a retrospective cohort analysis to investigate this putative association between PPI and prediabetes hazard. Our analysis encompassed 183,517 Chinese adults ≥ 20 years registered within the Rich Healthcare Group 2010–2016. PPI was defined as (systolic blood pressure − diastolic blood pressure)/systolic blood pressure. The relationship between PPI and prediabetes risk was assessed via Cox proportional hazards regression modeling. Non-linearity evaluations applied cubic spline fitting approaches alongside smooth curve analysis. Inflection points of PPI concerning prediabetes hazard were determined using two-piecewise Cox models. During a median follow-up of 3 years (2.17–3.96 years), new-onset prediabetes was documented in 20,607 patients (11.23%). Multivariate regression analysis showed that PPI was an independent risk factor for prediabetes, and the risk of prediabetes increased by 0.6% for every 1% increase in PPI (Hazard Ratio [HR]: 1.006, 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 1.004–1.008, P

Abstract Background Ubiquitin-specific protease 38 (USP38), belonging to the USP family, is recognized for its role in controlling protein degradation and diverse biological processes. Ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) following heart failure (HF) are closely linked to ventricular electrical remodeling, yet the specific mechanisms underlying VAs in HF remain inadequately explored. In this study, we examined the impact of USP38 on VAs in pressure overload-induced HF. Methods Cardiac-specific USP38 knockout mice, cardiac-specific USP38 transgenic mice and their matched control littermates developed HF induced by aortic banding (AB) surgery. After subjecting the mice to AB surgery for a duration of four weeks, comprehensive investigations were conducted, including pathological analysis and electrophysiological assessments, along with molecular analyses. Results We observed increased USP38 expression in the left ventricle of mice with HF. Electrocardiogram showed that the USP38 knockout shortened the QRS interval and QTc, while USP38 overexpression prolonged these parameters. USP38 knockout decreased the susceptibility of VAs by shortening action potential duration (APD) and prolonging effective refractory period (ERP). In addition, USP38 knockout increased ion channel and Cx43 expression in ventricle. On the contrary, the increased susceptibility of VAs and the decreased expression of ventricular ion channels and Cx43 were observed with USP38 overexpression. In both in vivo and in vitro experiments, USP38 knockout inhibited TBK1/AKT/CAMKII signaling, whereas USP38 overexpression activated this pathway. Conclusion Our data indicates that USP38 increases susceptibility to VAs after HF through TBK1/AKT/CAMKII signaling pathway, Consequently, USP38 may emerge as a promising therapeutic target for managing VAs following HF.

Tight sandstone gas reservoirs have the characteristics of poor physical properties of the reservoir， complex pore throat structure， strong anisotropy， and extensive coverage of initial water saturation， which lead to the complex flow mechanism of fluids in reservoirs and bring significant challenges to the accurate prediction and evaluation of gas well productivity. Therefore， based on the theory of gas-water two-phase non-Darcy flow， this study comprehensively considers the complex productivity factors， such as reservoir anisotropy， different degrees of stress sensitivity between reservoir matrix and fracture， two-phase starting pressure gradient， high-speed non-Darcy flow effect， gas slippage effect， finite conductivity of fracture， and inter-fracture interference. A new gas-water two-phase productivity prediction model for multistage fractured horizontal wells in anisotropic tight sandstone gas reservoirs is established by using coordinate transformation， perturbation ellipse theory， equivalent development rectangle theory， equivalent well diameter principle， pressure superposition principle， and hydropower similarity principle. Field examples verify the accuracy and practicability of the model. The gas-water two-phase productivity prediction curve is drawn， and the influence of sensitive parameters on productivity is evaluated. The results show that the open flow capacity of a fractured gas well increases with the increase in slippage effect， fracture conductivity， fracture half-length， fracture number， and the angles between the wellbore of the horizontal well and the main permeability of the formation. The open flow capacity of the fractured horizontal well decreases with the increase in reservoir anisotropy， reservoir stress sensitivity， fracture stress sensitivity， two-phase starting pressure gradient， and water-gas volume ratio. Water has an inhibitory effect on the flow of gas， and greater displacement pressure difference indicates a more significant inhibitory effect， so it is necessary to take waterproof and water control measures in advance. The research results further narrow the gap between the productivity prediction results of tight sandstone gas reservoirs and the actual production of the field， which is helpful for parameter evaluation， dynamic prediction， productivity evaluation， and exploration and development decision-making of tight sandstone gas reservoirs.

Abstract Aims Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Anxiety disorders are common psychiatric conditions associated with cardiovascular outcomes. This two‐sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study investigated the causal relationship between anxiety disorders and coronary heart disease (CHD), myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), and atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with anxiety disorders (16 730 cases; 101 021 controls) were obtained from the UK Biobank genome‐wide association study (GWAS). Cardiovascular outcome data were derived from the FinnGen study (CHD: 21 012 cases and 197 780 controls; MI: 12 801 cases and 187 840 controls; HF: 23 397 cases and 194 811 controls; and AF: 22 068 cases and 116 926 controls). Inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR–Egger, weighted median, simple mode, and weighted mode analyses examined causality. Results IVW analysis demonstrated significant causal relationships between anxiety disorders and increased risk of CHD [odds ratio (OR): 4.496; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.777–11.378; P = 0.002], MI (OR: 5.042; 95% CI: 1.451–17.518; P = 0.011), and HF (OR: 3.255; 95% CI: 1.461–7.252; P = 0.004). No relationship was observed with AF (OR: 1.775; 95% CI: 0.612–5.146; P = 0.29). Other methods showed non‐significant associations. Two‐way analysis indicated no reverse causality. Conclusions Anxiety disorders were causally associated with greater risk of CHD, MI, and HF but not AF among individuals of European descent. Further research on mediating mechanisms and in diverse populations is warranted.

Abstract The consumption of alcohol reflects both societal norms and personal choices and has major clinical implications. Long‐term excess alcohol consumption leads to a domino effect of pathological outcomes and onset of chronic illness. However, the risks of alcohol consumption extend beyond long‐term health issues. Because habitual alcohol drinkers reach a state of systemic homeostasis, when they attempt withdrawal, they experience many negative physiological effects and may develop alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The complex interplay between alcohol consumption and withdrawal does not result solely in behavioral issues. Rather, a substantial number of important physiological adaptations and potential problems underly habitual drinking. Addressing these issues requires comprehensive medical observation and intervention. Here, we summarize the pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical diseases, and related treatment methods of alcohol consumption and withdrawal. The aim was to provide a reference to improve understanding of alcohol use and promote an informed approach to alcohol withdrawal.

Abstract Owing to issues such as time and cost, patients often show poor acceptance of and adherence to center-based cardiac rehabilitation (CBCR), which impacts the effectiveness of rehabilitation. Therefore, there is growing interest in home-based cardiac rehabilitation and cardiac telerehabilitation (CTR), which entail less time and cost than CBCR. This study aimed to compare the changes in physiological and psychological indicators, compliance, and satisfaction after CTR and CBCR. In this single-blind, randomized, controlled trial, the intervention group received CTR via the 5G Internet of Things platform, while the control group received CBCR. Data from 50 patients (age 66.28 ± 4.01 years) with acute myocardial infarction who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention were analyzed. After an intervention period of three months, the maximal oxygen uptake and metabolic equivalent of task were 5.53 ± 0.12 and 19.32 ± 0.17, respectively, in the intervention group, and 4.15 ± 0.13 and 16.52 ± 0.18, respectively, in the control group. After three months of intervention, there were significant differences between the two groups in all observed indicators (p 0.05). The use of a 5G Internet of Things platform cardiac rehabilitation model effectively improved outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention. Abstract Background Inflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF) after myocardial infarction (MI). The role of USP38, a member of the ubiquitin-specific protease family, on MI-induced atrial inflammation, fibrosis, and associated AF is unclear. Methods In this study, we surgically constructed a mouse MI model using USP38 cardiac conditional knockout (USP38-CKO) and cardiac-specific overexpression (USP38-TG) mice and applied biochemical, histological, electrophysiological characterization and molecular biology to investigate the effects of USP38 on atrial inflammation, fibrosis, and AF and its mechanisms. Results Our results revealed that USP38-CKO attenuates atrial inflammation, thereby ameliorating fibrosis, and abnormal electrophysiologic properties, and reducing susceptibility to AF on day 7 after MI. USP38-TG showed the opposite effect. Mechanistically, The TAK1/NF-κB signaling pathway in the atria was significantly activated after MI, and phosphorylated TAK1, P65, and IκBα protein expression was significantly upregulated. USP38-CKO inhibited the activation of the TAK1/NF-κB signaling pathway, whereas USP38-TG overactivated the TAK1/NF-κB signaling pathway after MI. USP38 is dependent on the TAK1/NF-κB signaling pathway and regulates atrial inflammation, fibrosis, and arrhythmias after MI to some extent. Conclusions USP38 plays an important role in atrial inflammation, fibrosis, and AF susceptibility after MI, providing a promising target for the treatment of AF after MI.

Abstract Robotic 3D bin packing (R‐3dBPP), aiming to place deformed cases in various sizes in the container without fences, is a comprehensive application that includes perception, planning, execution, and hardware design. Traditional studies assume that the context of the real space must be accurately perceived and represented. However, disjunctions between the planner and reality are unavoidable in R‐3dBPP, especially with low‐cost sensors. As far as the author knows, there is no practical solution. In this paper, the above assumption is discarded and the typical types of uncertainties prevalent to guide the design of the algorithms are formulated. A new online bin‐packing algorithm is proposed, keeping deformed boxes stacked in close contact with each other, so that the whole pallet is kept stable by friction between the boxes and the container. In order to meet the requirement of close contact under the non‐negligible errors from sensors and planners, a compliant‐based motion planning system is introduced. It replaces the precision‐based feedback with a compliant end‐effector and accompanying motion strategies. Last but not least, a complete online bin‐packing robot system is developed and the system's performance under the influence of the uncertainties mentioned above through simulation and physical experiments is evaluated.

In this study, we optimized the parameters of diffusion bonding on multi-layered stainless steel 316L and 430 stacks. The preparation process for diffusion bonding is crucial, as the bonding surfaces need to be polished and meticulously cleaned to ensure a smooth bonding process. We fabricated twelve-layer plates consisting of 55 mm × 55 mm × 3 mm and 100 mm × 50 mm × 3 mm dimensions, and the bonding response was investigated by evaluating the tensile strength of the bonding zone under varying bonding conditions, with a bonding temperature ranging from 1000 to 1048 °C, a bond time ranging from 15 to 60 min, pressure ranging from 10 to 25.3 MPa, and under a vacuum environment. SS430 exhibits a significantly higher compression creep rate than SS316L. The compressibility of diffusion welding materials does not impact the diffusion bonding strength. Multi-axial tensile strength tests confirmed strong bonding joint strength in various axes. The tensile strengths of monolithic and Diffusion bonding (DB) specimens tested in parallel are essentially identical. The optimized diffusion bonding parameters (Condition G2C: 1048 °C/25.3 MPa/15 min) are ideal for producing SS316L stainless steel cores in compact heat exchangers, offering a superior bonding quality and reduced costs. These findings have practical implications for the production of stainless steel cores in compact heat exchangers, demonstrating the relevance and applicability of our research.
