Based on the lack of studies on indoor thermal environment in residential buildings in China, taking two set of student flats in Qujing Normal University as test rooms, a three-day field survey of indoor thermal environment has been carried out in the present paper. The indoor thermal environment of the two flats is comparatively analyzed by using predicted mean vote /predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PMV/PPD) model. The data indicates that PMV indices fluctuate from -1.10 to -0.65 and from -0.97 to -0.47 for the south-facing room B with a south-facing window and the north-facing room A with a north-facing window, and most of them are less than -0.50. The corresponding PPD values range from 30% to 14.5% and from 24% to 10%. It is evident that the indoor thermal comfort of Room B is better than that of Room A. The relationships between the main indoor and outdoor parameters are also discussed by using the linear regression technique. Many correlations with high relativities have been obtained and they provide people an easy way to predict and assess the indoor thermal environment. The results of this work enrich and develop the basic theory of indoor thermal environment in China.

The optimal tilted angles of cylindrical absorber evacuated tube solar collector used for different months and for entire year in Kunming have been calculated, and its optimal tilted angle for entire year is 23.5°. The area compensation of collectors at different azimuth and tilted angles have been carried out on conditions that the useful energy output of the collector unit at different angles equals to that of the one facing due south with the optimal tilt angle. The indoor temperature of the room with large area south single-glass window has been simulated and analyzed. Solar low-temperature heat-water floor radiant heating system has been designed and modeled, the synthetical influences of solar radiation penetrating south window and solar low-temperature heat-water floor radiant heating on the indoor temperature of the room have been researched. All above mentioned results will offer some valuable reference data to the designs and applications of solar energy integrated with the building.

Detailed analysis on the output characteristic and power influence factors of crystal silicon solar cell arrays and GaAs cell arrays have been done based on trough concentrating photovoltaic/thermal system. The results show that under concentrated light intensity, the output performance of GaAs cell array is better than crystal silicon solar cell arrays. Band-gap of solar cell arrays narrows and short circuit current increases very much in concentrated light intensity, which are good for output power. But open circuit voltage of cells drops a little for high recombination rate in depletion region produced by high light intensity, which has a restrictive effect to output power. At the same time the series resistance of cell arrays increases and working temperature of cell arrays rises which are brought about by high concentrated light intensity. In high concentrated light intensity, series resistance of cell arrays hugely affect the output power.
