Abstract: Neuroblastoma presenting as obstructive jaundice due to compression of the extrahepatic bile duct is very rare. An 11-month-old girl had sudden onset of jaundice. Initial imaging suggested a dilated biliary system caused by hepatic hilum mass. 18F-FDG PET/CT showed a lesion with increased 18F-FDG accumulation associated with surrounding enlarged lymph nodes. Abstract: A 72-year-old man with pancreatic tail cancer underwent distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy 1 year ago. Routine postoperative follow-up CT detected multiple pulmonary nodules. 18 F-FDG PET/CT showed multiple FDG-avid nodules in the bilateral lungs, which highly suggested the possibility of lung metastases of pancreatic cancer. Abstract: We present 2 cases of diffuse FDG accumulation in the esophagus due to drinking hot water before an 18 F-FDG PET/CT scan. Objective: To explore the value of the FT4/TSH ratio in the etiological diagnosis of newly diagnosed patients with thyrotoxicosis., Methods: The retrospective study was conducted on 287 patients with thyrotoxicosis (122 patients with subacute thyroiditis and 165 patients with Graves' disease) and 415 healthy people on their first visit to our hospital. All patients underwent thyroid function tests including the measurement of T3, T4, FT3, FT4, TSH, T3/TSH, and T4/TSH. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was employed to evaluate the value of FT4/TSH in the differential diagnosis of Graves' disease and subacute thyroiditis, and compared with other related indicators., Results: The area under the curve of FT4/TSH for diagnosing Graves' disease and thyroiditis was 0.846, which was significantly larger than the area under the curve of T3/T4 ratio ( P < 0.05) and FT3/FT4 ratio ( P < 0.05). When the cut-off value of the FT4/TSH ratio was 5731.286 pmol/mIU, the sensitivity was 71.52%, the specificity was 90.16%, the positive predictive value was 90.77% and the negative predictive value was 70.06%. Aim: The study is to investigate hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on myocardial perfusion of patients after the implantation of drug-eluting stents (DES) METHODS: From December 2013 to December 2015, a total of 115 patients with CAD who received DES implantation were included in this retrospective study. They were divided into HBOT group (n=55) and control group (n=60) according to different treatments retrospectively. Gated myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) was conducted in all the patients. Endothelin-1 (ET-1), high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) and nitric oxide (NO) were detected by the corresponding assay kits., Results: After HBOT treatment in HBOT group, SPECT results showed that the improvement rate of impaired sub-segments in patients of HBOT was significantly higher than that in control group ( P <0.05), and the parameters of PFR, TPFR, MFR/3 were displayed with marked differences between the two groups ( P <0.05). The laboratory results demonstrated a statistically increased level of NO and decreased levels of ET-1 and hs-CRP between the two groups ( P <0.05)., Conclusions: HBO may improve myocardial blood perfusion, reduce inflammation and vascular endothelial dysfunction, and further improve myocardial microcirculation in patients after the implantation of drug-eluting stents., (© 2018 by the Association of Clinical Scientists, Inc.)

Objective: To study dynamically the pathological changes of diabetic retinopathy (DR)., Methods: The techniques of light microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, electron microscopy and histochemical electron microscopy were used to quantitatively analyze the Type IV collagen, laminin and their anionic sites in the rat retinal capillary basement membrane (RBM)., Results: RBM became gradually thickened and was accompanied with an increased staining reaction for type IV collagen and laminin and decrease of anionic sites in number., Conclusion: The increase in thickness, in type IV collagen and laminin and the decrease of the anionic sites in the RBM may be the pathological changes of the exudative lesion in DR.
