Abstract

Results point out that dephosphorylation of the chemotaxis response regulator CheY does not involve the formation of a succinimide or any other intramolecular attack. Data indicate that an Asp57 to Asn mutant of the CheY undergoes rapid deamidation, suggesting succinimide formation at the active site of CheY, whereas CheY dephosphorylation routes involve attack at the phosphorous.
