The crystal structure and preparation of ternary layered double hydroxides are reviewed, with an emphasis on their morphology, structural engineering, derivatives and composites, and their applications in electrochemical energy storage.

The design and development of advanced energy storage devices with good energy/power densities and remarkable cycle life has long been a research hotspot. Metal-ion hybrid capacitors (MHCs) are considered as emerging and highly prospective candidates deriving from the integrated merits of metal-ion batteries with high energy density and supercapacitors with excellent power output and cycling stability. The realization of high-performance MHCs needs to conquer the inevitable imbalance in reaction kinetics between anode and cathode with different energy storage mechanisms. Featured by large specific surface area, short ion diffusion distance, ameliorated in-plane charge transport kinetics, and tunable surface and/or interlayer structures, 2D nanomaterials provide a promising platform for manufacturing battery-type electrodes with improved rate capability and capacitor-type electrodes with high capacity. In this article, the fundamental science of 2D nanomaterials and MHCs is first presented in detail, and then the performance optimization strategies from electrodes and electrolytes of MHCs are summarized. Next, the most recent progress in the application of 2D nanomaterials in monovalent and multivalent MHCs is dealt with. Furthermore, the energy storage mechanism of 2D electrode materials is deeply explored by advanced characterization techniques. Finally, the opportunities and challenges of 2D nanomaterials-based MHCs are prospected.

As a Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eucommia ulmoides Oliv. has been used for the treatment of various diseases since ancient times, involving lumbar pain, knee pain, osteoporosis, hepatoprotection, paralysis, intestinal haemorrhoids, vaginal bleeding, abortion, spermatorrhoea, foot fungus, anti-aging etc. With the developing discovery of E. ulmoides extracts and its active components in various pharmacological activities, E. ulmoides has gained more and more attention. Up to now, E. ulmoides has been revealed to show remarkable therapeutic effects on hypertension, hyperglycemia, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, sexual dysfunction. E. ulmoides has also been reported to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anti-fatigue, anti-aging, anti-cancer and immunoregulation activities etc. Along these lines, this review summarizes the traditional application and modern pharmacological research of E. ulmoides, providing novel insights of E. ulmoides in the treatment of various diseases.

Relay attacks is a serious and practical threat to contactless systems that is becoming more attractive with the increased use and transaction value of contactless payments. Distance-bounding is a countermeasure widely studied in academic research but it has not transferred to commercial systems. Conventional communication channels cannot achieve the theoretical properties often required for the protocol to be secure and special channels might not be feasible to adopt. Our objective is to design ‘best-effort’ distance-bounding channels suitable for real RFID systems. In this paper we discuss standard channel implementation using off-the-shelf emulators and readers, and discuss potential modifications to channels implementable on current devices that would results in more relay-resistant channel designs. We are present reference relay attacks for ISO 14443A and Felica type systems using our implemented devices.

Three dimensional image systems offer significant benefits over conventional two dimensional systems. Integral imaging is a promising technique for delivering high-quality three-dimensional content. However, a large amount of data produces during acquisition prohibits direct transmission of Integral Image data. In this work we propose volume pixel matching encoder and a neural network color restoration for Integral Image compression. The proposed encoder is based on pixel matching to reconstruct discarded elemental images and use the method of neural network to recovery the color. Comparing with JPEG compression method, the algorithm is more effective as show in PSNR.
