Abstract

Privacy protection plays a crucial role in recommender systems as it helps to protect users’ sensitive information from disclosure risks. Recent recommendation unlearning has attracted increasing attention as an effective method of privacy protection. Existing methods often partition data into sub-partitions before training to enhance model training efficiency. However, simply partitioning interactions into sub-partitions can disrupt the integrity of user-item relationships and reduce the availability of data. In addition, the presence of false-positive noise in sub-partitions with implicit feedback can interfere with model training, preventing it from accurately capturing users’ true preferences. To address these challenges, a recommendation unlearning algorithm combining fuzzy clustering and adaptive denoising (FDRU) is proposed. Firstly, fuzzy clustering determines membership by calculating cosine distances between samples and various cluster centers, subsequently dividing the training dataset into several sub-partitions. Then, FDRU designs an adaptive denoising algorithm that dynamically eliminates false positive noise in sub-partitions based on thresholds. Finally, it utilizes dynamic weighted aggregation of sub-models for prediction and top-N recommendations. In order to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm, extensive experiments are carried out on three public datasets. Experimental results indicate that FDRU outperforms other benchmark algorithms on Recall and NDCG.

Abstract

The anaerobic ammonia oxidation（ANAMMOX） process is recognized by the industry as an efficient and low-consumption sustainable biological nitrogen removal technology. However，anaerobic ammonia oxidizing bacteria（AnAOB） have long growth period of generations and are sensitive to environmental factors. Organic matter，as the most common material in wastewater，has a more complex effect on the ANAMMOX process for nitrogen removal. It reviewed the effects of organic substance type，organic substance concentration on the nitrogen removal performance of the ANAMMOX process，functional microorganisms and its reasons. The smaller the molecular weight of the organic substance type and the simpler the structure were，the more significant effect on AnAOB was. Under low organic substance concentration conditions，AnAOB had a diverse metabolic pathway that utilized simple organics. Appropriate C/N promoted synergistic symbiosis between denitrifying bacteria and AnAOB，which could promote AnAOB growth to some extent. High concentrations of organics tended to cause denitrifying bacteria to dominate and compete with AnAOB for substrate，and could even alter the normal metabolic pathways of AnAOB. Alcohols had a strong irreversible inhibitory effect on AnAOB，and the inhibitory effect of antibiotics and phenols tended to be reversible. Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Jettenia had relatively good adaptability to organic substance. Understanding the effect of organics on AnAOB could provide important reference for process design and engineering applications of ANAMMOX.

Abstract

Cathodoluminescence spectroscopy in conjunction with second-order auto-correlation measurements of $g_2(\tau)$ allows to extensively study the synchronization of quantum light sources in low-dimensional structures. Co-existing excitons in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers provide a great source of identical quantum emitters which can be simultaneously excited by an electron. In this article, we demonstrate large photon bunching with $g_2(0)$ up to $156\pm16$ of a tungsten disulfide monolayer, exhibiting a strong dependence on the electron-beam current density. To further improve the excitation synchronization and the electron-emitter interaction, we show exemplary that the careful selection of a simple and compact geometry -- a thin, monocrystalline gold nanodisk -- can be used to realize a record-high bunching $g_2(0)$ of up to $2152\pm236$. This approach to control the electron excitation of excitons in a \ce{WS2} monolayer allows for the synchronization of quantum emitters in an ensemble, which is important to further advance quantum information processing and computing technologies., Comment: Supporting information is available upon request to authors

Abstract

Dark plasmonic modes have interesting properties, such as a longer lifetime and a narrower linewidth than their radiative counterpart, as well as little to no radiative losses. However, they have not been extensively studied yet due to their optical inaccessibility. Using electron-energy loss (EEL) and cathodoluminescence (CL) spectroscopy, the dark radial breathing modes (RBMs) in thin, monochrystalline gold nanodisks are systematically investigated in this work. It is found that the RBMs can be detected in a CL set-up despite only collecting the far-field. Their visibility in CL is attributed to the breaking of the mirror symmetry by the high-index substrate, creating an effective dipole moment. The outcoupling into the far-field is demonstrated to be enhanced by a factor of 4 by increasing the thickness of the supporting SiN membrane from 5 to 50 nm due to the increased net electric dipole moment in the substrate. Furthermore, it is shown that the resonance energy of RBMs can be easily tuned by varying the diameter of the nanodisk, making them promising candidates for nanophotonic applications.

Abstract

Engineering light-matter interactions up to the strong-coupling regime at room temperature is one of the cornerstones of modern nanophotonics. Achieving this goal will enable new platforms for potential applications such as quantum information processing, quantum light sources and even quantum metrology. Materials like transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) and in particular tungsten disulfide (WS$_2$) possess large transition dipole moments comparable to semiconductor-based quantum dots, and strong exciton binding energies allowing the detailed exploration of light-matter interactions at room temperature. Additionally, recent works have shown that coupling TMDCs to plasmonic nanocavities with light tightly focused on the nanometer scale can reach the strong-coupling regime at ambient conditions. Here, we use ultra-thin single-crystalline gold nanodisks featuring large in-plane electromagnetic dipole moments aligned with the exciton transition-dipole moments located in monolayer WS$_2$. Through scattering and reflection spectroscopy we demonstrate strong coupling at room temperature with a Rabi splitting of $\sim$108 meV. In order to go further into the strong-coupling regime and inspired by recent experimental work by St\"uhrenberg et al., we couple these nanodisks to multilayer WS$_2$. Due to an increase in the number of excitons coupled to our nanodisks, we achieve a Rabi splitting of $\sim$175 meV, a major increase of 62%. To our knowledge, this is the highest Rabi splitting reported for TMDCs coupled to open plasmonic cavities. Our results suggest that ultra-thin single-crystalline gold nanodisks coupled to WS$_2$ represent an exquisite platform to explore light-matter interactions.

Abstract

Plasmonic nanomaterials with multiple components and designed structures show diverse properties and functions owing to the synergistic effects of the different components. Engineering the compositional and structural complexity of plasmonic nanomaterials is a powerful technique for expanding their range of applications. A facile approach to an unprecedented dart‐like type of nanostructure with AgPd bimetal selectively deposited at one end of Au nanobipyramids, forming AgPd nanodarts, is reported here. The synthetic process involves both galvanic replacement and Ostwald ripening. The morphological evolution of the AgPd nanodarts is thoroughly investigated and the growth mechanism is put forward. The as‐obtained AgPd nanodarts exhibit an outstanding photothermal conversion efficiency and peroxidase activity, which make them powerful for photothermally–catalytically combined tumor organoid ablation. In addition, two types of AgPd nanodart‐derived single‐end nanostructures, AgPd@ZIF‐8, and AgPd@TiO2 nanodarts, are prepared for the first time. The ZIF‐8 and TiO2 shell are preferentially coated at the AgPd end of the AgPd nanodarts, respectively. Both AgPd@ZIF‐8 and AgPd@TiO2 nanodarts show superior antimicrobial activities. The protocol and concept of modulating the structure of the nanodarts in this work can be extended to the development of a new class of plasmonic nanostructures with multifunctionalities. Abstract

Multiple Fano resonances (mFRs) are arising as a promising optical platform to achieve precise sensing and detection. However, experimentally achieving mFRs by simple structures has remained challenging, which impedes the widespread applications of mFRs. Herein a simple structure composed of a single colloidal metal nanoparticle and a transition metal dichalcogenide flake to simultaneously achieve up to 8 FRs in experiments is demonstrated. Combining theoretical and experimental techniques, that an out‐of‐plane plasmon mode of the metal nanoparticle interferes with the Fabry–Pérot cavity modes from the WS2 flake to form mFRs in the visible region is proved. The simplicity and generality of the method further allow us to systematically study the tunability of the mFRs, in terms of the peak/dip positions and the number of FRs, by changing the structural parameters, which include the thickness of the WS2 flake, size and shape of the plasmonic nanoparticle. In addition, the quality of the mFRs is proved to be adjustable by tuning the reflectivity of the substrate in the system. The highest quality factor and spectral contrast of the achieved resonances are up to ≈180 and ≈0.95, respectively.
