Two-body open charm strong decays of the $2P$ and $3P$ charmonium states are studied by the Bethe-Salpeter(BS) method combined with the $^3P_0$ model. The wave functions and mass spectra of the $2P$ and $3P$ charmonium states are obtained by solving the BS equation with the relativistic correction. The strong decay widths and relative ratios of the $2P$ and $3P$ charmonium states are calculated. Comparing our results with the experimental data, we obtain some interesting results. Considering the $X^*(3860)$ as the $\chi_{c0}(2P)$, the total strong decay width is smaller than the experimental data. But the strong decay width depends on the parameter $\gamma$ in the $^3P_0$ model, and the mass and width of the $X^*(3860)$ have large errors, we cannot rule out the possibility that the $X^*(3860)$ is the $\chi_{c0}(2P)$. The $X(4160)$ is a good candidate for the $\chi_{c0}(3P)$, not only the strong decay width of the $\chi_{c0}(3P)$ is same as the experimental data, but the relative ratios $\frac{\Gamma(\chi_{c0}(3P)\to D\bar D)}{\Gamma(\chi_{c0}(3P)\to D^*\bar D^*)}\approx0.0019<0.09$, and $\frac{\Gamma({\chi_{c0}(3P)\to D\bar D^*})}{\Gamma({\chi_{c0}(3P)\to D^*\bar D^*})}=0<0.22$ are consistent with the experimental results of the $X(4160)$. Taking the $X(4274)$ as the $\chi_{c1}(3P)$, the strong decay width is consistent with the experimental data, so the $X(4274)$ is a good candidate for the $\chi_{c1}(3P)$. Assigning the $X(4350)$ as the $\chi_{c2}(3P)$, the corresponding strong decay width is slightly larger than the experimental data. To identify if the $X(4350)$ is $\chi_{c2}(3P)$, many more investigations are needed. All of the strong decay widths and relative ratios of the $2P$ and $3P$ charmonium states can provide the useful information to discover and confirm these particles in the future., Comment: 19 pages, 1 figure

We study the CP violation in two-body nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson. We concentrate on the decay channels which contain at least one excited heavy meson in the final states. Specifically, the following channels are considered: $B_c\to c\bar c(2S, 2P)+\bar cq(1S, 1P)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1S)+\bar cq(2S, 2P)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1P)+\bar cq(2S)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1D)+\bar cq(1S, 1P)$, and $B_c\to c\bar c(3S)+\bar cq(1S)$. The improved Bethe-Salpeter method is applied to calculate the hadronic transition matrix element. Our results show that some decay modes have large branching ratios, which is of the order of $10^{-3}$. The CP violation effect in $B_c \rightarrow \eta_c(1S)+D(2S)$, $B_c \rightarrow \eta_c(1S)+D_0^{*}(2P)$, and $B_c \rightarrow J/\psi+D^{*}(2S)$ are most likely to be found. If the detection precision of the CP asymmetry in such channels can reach the $3\sigma$ level, at least $10^7$ $B_c$ events are needed., Comment: 18 pages, 26 figures

Considering $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ as $\chi_{c2}(2P)$ and $\chi_{c2}(3P)$ states, the semileptonic and nonleptonic of $B_c$ decays to $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ are studied by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) Method. The form factors of decay are calculated through the overlap integrals of the meson wave functions in the whole accessible kinematical range. The influence of relativistic corrections are considered in the exclusive decays. Branching ratios of $B_c$ weak decays to $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ are predicted. Some of the branching ratios are: $Br(B_c^+\to Z(3930)e^+\nu_e)$$=(3.03^{+0.09}_{-0.16})\times 10^{-4}$ and $Br(B_c^+\to X(4160)e^+\nu_e)$$=(3.55^{+0.83}_{-0.35})\times 10^{-6}$. These results may provide useful information to discover $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ and the necessary information for the phenomenological study of $B_c$ physics., Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1605.09091

Many $P-$wave mixing heavy-light $1^+$ states have not been discovered by experiment, some of them have been discovered but without the information of width, or with large uncertainty widths. In this paper, we study the strong decays of $P-$wave mixing heavy-light $1^+$ states $D^0$, $D^\pm$, $D_s^\pm$, $B^0$, $B^\pm$ and $B_s$ by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) method in two conditions of mixing angle $\theta$: one is $\theta=35.3^\circ$; another is considering the correction to mixing angle $\theta=35.3^\circ+\theta_1$. And we get some valuable predictions of the strong decay widths: $\Gamma(D_1^{\prime0})=232$ MeV, $\Gamma(D_1^0)=21.5$ MeV, $\Gamma(D_1^{\prime\pm})=232$ MeV, $\Gamma(D_1^\pm)=21.5$ MeV, $\Gamma(D_{s1}^{\prime\pm})=0.0101$ MeV, $\Gamma(D_{s1}^{\pm})=0.950$ MeV, $\Gamma(B_1^{\prime\pm})=263$ MeV, $\Gamma(B_1^{\pm})=16.8$ MeV, $\Gamma(B_{s1}^{\prime})=0.01987$ MeV and $\Gamma(B_{s1})=0.412$ MeV. We find that the decay widths of $D_{s1}^{\pm}$ and $B_{s1}$ are very sensitive to the mixing angle. And our results will provide the theoretical assistance by the future experiments.

In this paper, we study the lepton number violation processes of $B_c$ meson induced by possible doubly-charged scalars. Both the three-body decay channels and the four-body decay channels are considered. For the former, $Br\times\left(\frac{s_\Delta h_{ij}}{M_\Delta^2}\right)^{-2}$ is of the order of $10^{-7}\sim 10^{-9}$, and for the later channels, $Br\times\left(\frac{s_\Delta h_{ij}}{M_\Delta^2}\right)^{-2}$ is of the order of $10^{-12}\sim 10^{-20}$, where $s_\Delta$, $h_{ij}$, $M_\Delta$ are the constants related to the doubly-charged boson., Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures

In this paper, we study the OZI-allowed two-body strong decays of $3^-$ heavy-light mesons. Experimentally the charmed $D_{3}^{\ast}(2760)$ and the charm-strange $D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860)$ states with these quantum numbers have been discovered. For the bottomed $B(5970)$ state, which was found by the CDF Collaboration recently, its quantum number has not been decided yet and we assume its a $3^-$ meson in this paper. The theoretical prediction for the strong decays of bottom-strange state $B_{s3}^\ast$ is also given. The relativistic wave functions of $3^-$ heavy mesons are constructed and their numerical values are obtained by solving the corresponding Bethe-Salpeter equation with instantaneous approximation. The transition matrix is calculated by using the PCAC and low energy theorem, following which, the decay widths are obtained. For $D_{3}^\ast(2760)$ and $D_{s3}^\ast(2860)$, the total strong decay widths are 72.6 MeV and 47.6 MeV, respectively. For $B_3^\ast$ with $M=5978$ MeV and $B_{s3}^\ast$ with $M=6178$ MeV, their strong decay widths are 22.9 MeV and 40.8 MeV, respectively., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures

In this paper, we study the productions of the newly detected states $D_{sJ}(3040)$ and $D_J(3000)$ observed by BABAR Collaboration and LHCb Collaboration. We assume these states to be the $D_s(2P)$ and $D(2P)$ states with the quantum number $J^P=1^+$ in our work. The results of improved Bethe-Salpeter method indicate that the semi-leptonic decays via $B_s$ and $B$ into $D_{sJ}(3040)$ and $D_J(3000)$ have considerable branching ratios, for example, Br($\bar{B}_s^0 \rightarrow D{_{sJ}^+}(3040)e^-\bar{\nu}{_e}$)=$5.79\times10^{-4}$, Br($\bar{B}^0\rightarrow D_{J}^+(3000)e^-\bar{\nu}{_e}$)=$2.63\times10^{-4}$, which shows that these semi-leptonic decays can be accessible in experiments., Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures

The new mesons $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ have been found by Belle Collaboration in the processes $e^+e^-\to J/\psi D^{(*)}\bar D^{(*)}$. Considering $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ as $\eta_c(3S)$ and $\eta_c(4S)$ states, the two-body open charm OZI-allowed strong decay of $\eta_c(3S)$ and $\eta_c(4S)$ are studied by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method combine with the $^3P_0$ model. The strong decay width of $\eta_c(3S)$ is $\Gamma_{\eta_c(3S)}=(33.5^{+18.4}_{-15.3})$ MeV, which is closed to the result of $X(3940)$, therefore, $\eta_c(3S)$ is a good candidate of $X(3940)$. The strong decay width of $\eta_c(4S)$ is $\Gamma_{\eta_c(4S)}=(69.9^{+22.4}_{-21.1})$ MeV, considering the errors of the results, it's closed to the lower limit of $X(4160)$. But the ratio of the decay width $\frac{\Gamma(D\bar D^*)}{\Gamma (D^*\bar D^*)}$ of $\eta_c(4S)$ is larger than the experimental data of $X(4160)$. According to the above analysis, $\eta_c(4S)$ is not the candidate of $X(4160)$, and more investigations of $X(4160)$ is needed., Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1605.09091

Considering $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ as $\eta_c(3S)$ and $\eta_c(4S)$, we study the productions of $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ in exclusive weak decays of $B_c$ meson by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) Method. Using the relativistic B-S equation and Mandelstam formalism, we calculate the corresponding decay form factors. The predictions of the corresponding branching ratios are: $Br(B_c^+\to X(3940)e^+\nu_e)$$=1.0\times10^{-4}$ and $Br(B_c^+\to X(4160)e^+\nu_e)=2.4\times10^{-5}$. That will provide us a new way to observe the $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ in the future, as well as to improve the knowledge of $B_c$ meson decay., Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures

We demonstrate significant improvements of the spin coherence time of a dense ensemble of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond through optimized dynamical decoupling (DD). Cooling the sample down to $77$ K suppresses longitudinal spin relaxation $T_1$ effects and DD microwave pulses are used to increase the transverse coherence time $T_2$ from $\sim 0.7$ ms up to $\sim 30$ ms. We extend previous work of single-axis (CPMG) DD towards the preservation of arbitrary spin states. Following a theoretical and experimental characterization of pulse and detuning errors, we compare the performance of various DD protocols. We identify that the optimal control scheme for preserving an arbitrary spin state is a recursive protocol, the concatenated version of the XY8 pulse sequence. The improved spin coherence might have an immediate impact on improvements of the sensitivities of AC magnetometry. Moreover, the protocol can be used on denser diamond samples to increase coherence times up to NV-NV interaction time scales, a major step towards the creation of quantum collective NV spin states.

In this paper, the relation between skin friction and heat transfer along windward sides of blunt-nosed bodies in hypersonic flows is investigated. The self-similar boundary layer analysis is accepted to figure out the distribution of the ratio of skin friction to heat transfer coefficients along the wall. It is theoretically obtained that the ratio depends linearly on the local slope angle of the wall surface, and an explicit analogy expression is presented for circular cylinders, although the linear distribution is also found for other nose shapes and even in gas flows with chemical reactions. Furthermore, based on the theoretical modelling of the second order shear and heat transfer terms in Burnett equations, a modified analogy is derived in the near continuum regime by considering the rarefied gas effects. And a bridge function is also constructed to describe the nonlinear analogy in the transition flow regime. At last, the direct simulation Monte Carlo method is used to validate the theoretical results. The general analogy, beyond the classical Reynolds analogy, is applicable to both flat plates and blunt-nosed bodies, in either continuous or rarefied hypersonic flows.

The rare processes $B_c\to D_{(s)J} ^{(*)}\mu\bar{\mu}$, where $D_{(s)J}^{(*)}$ stands for the final meson $D_{s0}^*(2317)$, $D_{s1}(2460,2536)$,~$D_{s2}^*(2573)$, $D_0^*(2400)$, $D_{1}(2420,2430)$ or~$D_{2}^*(2460)$, are studied within the Standard Model. The hadronic matrix elements are evaluated in the Bethe-Salpeter approach and furthermore a discussion on the gauge-invariant condition of the annihilation hadronic currents is presented. Considering the penguin, box, annihilation, color-favored cascade and color-suppressed cascade contributions, the observables $\text{d}Br/\text{d}Q^2$, $A_{LPL}$, $A_{FB}$ and $P_L$ are calculated.

We theoretically investigate spin decoherence of a single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond. Using the spin coherent state P-representation method, coherence evolution of the NV center surrounded by nitrogen electron spins (N) is simulated. We find that spin decoherence time as well as free-induction decay of the NV center depend on the spatial configuration of N spins. Both the spin decoherence rate (1/T2) and dephasing rate (1/T2*) of the NV center increase linearly with the concentration of the N spins. Using the P-representation method, we also demonstrate extracting noise spectrum of the N spin bath, which will provide promising pathways for designing an optimum pulse sequence to suppress the decoherence in diamond., Comment: Including 12 pages, 4 figures and supplemental material

We study the productions of first radial excited states $D_q(2S)$ ($q=u, d, s$) and $B_q(2S)$ in exclusive semi-leptonic $B_{q'}$ ($q'=u, d s, c$) decays by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. These 2S states can be detected through their strong decays to ground mesons, where the strong decays are calculated by the low energy approximation as well as the impulse approximation. Some channels have ratios of order $10^{-4}$: $Br(B^+\to\bar D^0(2S)\ell^+{\nu_\ell})\times Br(\bar D^0(2S)\to \bar D^{*}\pi)\approx(4.9\pm4.0)\times10^{-4}$, $Br(B^0\to D^-(2S)\ell^+{\nu_\ell})\times Br(D^-(2S)\to \bar D^{*}\pi)\approx(4.4\pm3.4)\times10^{-4}$. These channels could be measured by the current B-factories. For $D_s(2S)$, we also obtain a relative large ratio: $Br(B_s^0\to D_s^-(2S)\ell^+{\nu_\ell})\times Br(D_s^-(2S)\to \bar D^{*}\bar K)\approx (9.9\pm14.9)\times10^{-4}$. Although there are discrepancies of the full decay width between the theoretical predictions of ${D}^0(2S)$ and experimental results of $D(2550)^0$, the new detected state $D(2550)^0$ is very likely the ${D}^0(2S)$ state., Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures, 5 tables

We calculate the masses and the strong decays of orbitally excited states $B_{s0}$, $B'_{s1}$, $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$ by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. The predicted masses of $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$ are $M_{B_{s0}}=5.723\pm0.280 {\rm GeV}$, $M_{B'_{s1}}=5.774\pm0.330 {\rm GeV}$. We calculate the isospin symmetry violating decay processes $B_{s0}\to B_s \pi$ and $B'_{s1}\to B_s^* \pi$ through $\pi^0-\eta$ mixing and get small widths. Considering the uncertainties of the masses, for $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$, we also calculate the OZI allowed decay channels: $B_{s0}\to B\bar K$ and $B'_{s1}\to B^*\bar K$. For $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$, the OZI allowed decay channels $B_{s1}\to B^{*}\bar K$, $B_{s2}\to B\bar K$ and $B_{s2}\to B^{*}\bar K$ are studied. In all the decay channels, the reduction formula, PCAC relation and low energy theorem are used to estimate the decay widths. We also obtain the strong coupling constants $G_{B_{s0}B_s\pi}$, $G_{B_{s0}B\bar K}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B_s^*\pi}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B_s^*\pi}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $F_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s2}B\bar K}$ and $G_{B_{s2}B^{*}\bar K}$., Comment: 21 pages, 1 figure, 4 tables

We perform a detailed theoretical-experimental study of the dynamical decoupling (DD) of the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond. We investigate the DD sequences applied to suppress the dephasing of the electron spin of the NV center induced by the coupling to a spin bath composed of the substitutional nitrogen atoms. The decoupling efficiency of various DD schemes is studied, including both periodic and periodic pulse sequences. For ideal control pulses, we find that the DD protocols with the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) timing of the pulses provides best performance. We show that, as the number of control pulses increases, the decoupling fidelity scaling differs qualitatively from the predictions of the Magnus expansion, and explain the origin of this difference. In particular, more advanced symmetrized or concatenated protocols do not improve the DD performance. Next, we investigate the impact of the systematic instrumental pulse errors in different periodic and aperiodic pulse sequences. The DD protocols with the single-axis control do not preserve all spin components in the presence of the pulse errors, and the two-axis control is needed. We demonstrate that the two-axis control sequence with the CPMG timing is very robust with respect to the pulse errors. The impact of the pulse errors can be diminished further by symmetrizing this protocol. For all protocols studied here, we present a detailed account of the pulse error parameters which make strongest impact on the DD performance. We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson to a $P$-wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are comparatively presented and discussed., Comment: 33 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables

We study the applicability of the time optimal bang-bang control designed for spin-1/2 [U. Boscain and P. Mason, J. Math. Phys. {\bf 47}, 062101 (2006)] to the rotation of the electron spin of a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond. The spin of the NV center is a three-level system, with two levels forming a relevant qubit subspace where the time-varying magnetic control field performs rotation, and the third level being idle. We find that the bang-bang control protocol decreases the rotation time by 20--25% in comparison with the traditional oscillating sinusoidal driving. We also find that for most values of the bias field the leakage to the idle level is very small, so that the NV center is a suitable testbed for experimental study of the time-optimal protocols. For some special values of the bias field, however, the unwanted leakage is greatly increased. Dynamical decoupling (DD) is a promising tool for preserving the quantum states of qubits. However, small imperfections in the control pulses can seriously affect the fidelity of decoupling, and qualitatively change the evolution of the controlled system at long times. Using both analytical and numerical tools, we theoretically investigate the effect of the pulse errors accumulation for two aperiodic DD sequences, the Uhrig's DD UDD) protocol [G. S. Uhrig, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 98}, 100504 (2007)], and the Quadratic DD (QDD) protocol [J. R. West, B. H. Fong and D. A. Lidar, Phys. Rev. Lett {\bf 104}, 130501 (2010)]. We consider the implementation of these sequences using the electron spins of phosphorus donors in silicon, where DD sequences are applied to suppress dephasing of the donor spins. The dependence of the decoupling fidelity on different initial states of the spins is the focus of our study. We investigate in detail the initial drop in the DD fidelity, and its long-term saturation. We also demonstrate that by applying the control pulses along different directions, the performance of QDD protocols can be noticeably improved, and explain the reason of such an improvement. Our results can be useful for future implementations of the aperiodic decoupling protocols, and for better understanding of the impact of errors on quantum control of spins., Comment: updated references

Dynamical decoupling (DD) is an efficient tool for preserving quantum coherence in solid-state spin systems. However, the imperfections of real pulses can ruin the performance of long DD sequences. We investigate the accumulation and compensation of different pulse errors in DD using the electron spins of phosphorus donors in silicon as a test system. We study periodic DD sequences (PDD) based on spin rotations about two perpendicular axes, and their concatenated and symmetrized versions. We show that pulse errors may quickly destroy some spin states, but maintain other states with high fidelity over long times. Pulse sequences based on spin rotations about $x$ and $y$ axes outperform those based on $x$ and $z$ axes due to the accumulation of pulse errors. Concatenation provides an efficient way to suppress the impact of pulse errors, and can maintain high fidelity for all spin components: pulse errors do not accumulate (to first order) as the concatenation level increases, despite the exponential increase in the number of pulses. Our theoretical model gives a clear qualitative picture of the error accumulation, and produces results in quantitative agreement with the experiments., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures

One of the most significant hurdles to be overcome on the path to practical quantum information processors is dealing with quantum errors. Dynamical decoupling is a particularly promising approach that complements conventional quantum error correction by eliminating some correlated errors without the overhead of additional qubits. In practice, the control pulses used for decoupling are imperfect and thus introduce errors which can accumulate after many pulses. These instrumental errors can destroy the quantum state. Here we examine several dynamical decoupling sequences, and their concatenated variants, using electron spin resonance of donor electron spins in a $^{28}$Si crystal. All of the sequences cancel phase noise arising from slowly fluctuating magnetic fields in our spectrometer, but only those sequences based upon alternating $\pi$-rotations about the X- and Y-axes in the rotating frame (XYXY sequences) demonstrate the ability to store an arbitrary quantum state. By comparing the experimental results with a detailed theoretical analysis we demonstrate that the superior performance of XYXY sequences arises from the fact that they are self-correcting for the dominant instrumental pulse errors in magnetic resonance experiments. We further find that concatenated sequences perform better than the periodic variants, maintaining near 100% fidelities for spin states even after several hundred control pulses. Intuitively, one would expect the instrumental error to increase with the number of pulses in the sequence but we show that the dominant first-order error does not increase when concatenating the XYXY sequence., Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures

We analyzed the decays of $B^{+}\to {\bar {D}^0}+D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)$ and $B^{+}\to\bar D^{0}+D^{+}_{sJ}(1D)$ by naive factorization method and model dependent calculation based on the Bethe-Salpeter method, the branching ratios are $Br({\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(2S))=(0.72\pm0.12)%$ and $Br({\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(1D))=(0.027\pm0.007)%$. The branching ratio of decay $B^{+}\to {\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)\to {\bar {D}^0}D^0 K^+$ consist with the data of Belle Collaboration, so we conclude that the new state $D^{+}_{sJ}(2700)$ is the first excited state $D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)$., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

For an electron spin in coupling with an interacting spin chain via hyperfine-type interaction, we investigate the dynamical evolutions of the pairwise entanglement of the spin chain and a correlation function joined the electron spin with a pair of chain spins in correspondence to the electron spin coherence evolution. Both quantities manifest a periodic and a decaying evolution. The entanglement of the spin bath is significant in distinguishing the zero-coherence status exhibited in periodic and decoherence evolutions of the electron spin. The periodical concurrence evolution of the spin bath characterizes the whole system in a coherence-preserving phase, particularly for the case that the associated periodic coherence evolution is predominated by zero-value in the infinite chain-length limit, which was often regarded as the realization of decoherence., Comment: accepted by Phys.
