3. BCVEGPY2.2: A Newly Upgraded Version for Hadronic Production of the Meson $B_c$ and Its Excited States

Abstract

A newly upgraded version of the BCVEGPY, a generator for hadronic production of the meson $B_c$ and its excited states, is available. In comparison with the previous one [C.H. Chang, J.X. Wang and X.G. Wu, Comput. Phys. Commun. {\bf 175}, 624 (2006)], the new version is to apply an improved hit-and-miss technology to generating the un-weighted events much more efficiently under various simulation environments. 4. BEEC: An event generator for simulating the $B_c$ meson production at an $e^+e^-$ collider

Abstract

The $B_c$ meson is a doubly heavy quark-antiquark bound state and carries flavors explicitly, which provides a fruitful laboratory for testing potential models and understanding the weak decay mechanisms for heavy flavors. In view of the prospects in $B_c$ physics at the hadronic colliders as Tevatron and LHC, $B_c$ physics is attracting more and more attention. It has been shown that a high luminosity $e^+e^-$ collider running around the $Z^0$-peak is also helpful for studying the properties of $B_c$ meson and has its own advantages. For the purpose, we write down an event generator for simulating $B_c$ meson production through $e^+e^-$ annihilation according to relevant publications. We name it as BEEC, in which the color-singlet $S$-wave and $P$-wave $(c\bar{b})$-quarkonium states together with the color-octet $S$-wave $(c\bar{b})$-quarkonium states can be generated. BEEC can also be adopted to generate the similar charmonium and bottomnium states via the semi-exclusive channels $e^{+}+e^{-}\rightarrow |(Q\bar{Q})[n]\rangle +Q +\bar{Q}$ with $Q=b$ and $c$ respectively. To increase the simulation efficiency, we simplify the amplitude as compact as possible by using the improved trace technology. BEEC is a Fortran programme written in a PYTHIA-compatible format and is written in a modularization structure, one may apply it to various situations or experimental environments conveniently by using the GNU C compiler {\bf make}. A method to improve the efficiency of generating unweighted events within PYTHIA environment has been suggested. Moreover, BEEC will generate a standard Les Houches Event data file that contains useful information of the meson and its accompanying partons, which can be conveniently imported into PYTHIA to do further hadronization and decay simulation., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures

5. GENXICC2.1: An Improved Version of GENXICC for Hadronic Production of Doubly Heavy Baryons

Abstract

We present an improved version of GENXICC, which is a generator for hadronic production of the doubly heavy baryons $\Xi_{cc}$, $\Xi_{bc}$ and $\Xi_{bb}$ and has been raised by C.H. Chang, J.X. Wang and X.G. Wu [Comput. Phys. Commun. 177 (2007) 467; Comput. Phys. Commun. 181 (2010) 1144]. In comparison with the previous GENXICC versions, we update the program in order to generate the unweighted baryon events more effectively under various simulation environments, whose distributions are now generated according to the probability proportional to the integrand. One Les Houches Event (LHE) common block has been added to produce a standard LHE data file that contains useful information of the doubly heavy baryon and its accompanying partons. Such LHE data can be conveniently imported into PYTHIA to do further hadronization and decay simulation, especially, the color-flow problem can be solved with PYTHIA8.0., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure. 7. A Trick to Improve the Efficiency of Generating Unweighted $B_c$ Events from BCVEGPY

Abstract

In the present paper, we provide an addendum to improve the efficiency of generating unweighted events within PYTHIA environment for the generator BCVEGPY2.1 [C.H. Chang, J.X. Wang and X.G. Wu, Comput.Phys.Commun.{\bf 174}, 241(2006)]. This trick is helpful for experimental simulation. Moreover, the BCVEGPY output has also been improved, i.e. one Les Houches Event common block has been added so as to generate a standard Les Houches Event file that contains the information of the generated $B_c$ meson and the accompanying partons, which can be more conveniently used for further simulation., Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Abstract

In this paper, we demonstrate the LHC discovery potential of new charged vector boson $W_1^{\pm}$ predicted by the Minimal Higgsless model in the process $pp\to W_1^{\pm}qq^{\prime}\to W^{\pm}Z^0qq^\prime\to \ell^{\pm}\ell^+\ell^-\nu qq^{\prime}(\ell=e,\mu)$ by analyzing the generator level events of the signal and backgrounds. The generator for the signal $pp \to {W_1}^{\pm}qq^\prime\to W^{\pm}Z^0qq^\prime$ at tree level is developed with the Minimal Higgsless model and then interfaced with PYTHIA for the parton showers and hadronization. The backgrounds are produced with PYTHIA and ACERMC. We give integrated luminosities required to discover 5$\sigma$ signal as a function of $W_1^{\pm}$ mass., Comment: Version for Nucl.Phys.B (in Press), 12pp

Abstract

In the LHC experiment, the H → γγ channel provides a clean final state with an effective mass peak that is reconstructed with great precision, despite the small branching ratio. As a consequence, the H → γγ channel is one of the most promising channels for the Higgs discovery in the very low mass region. In order to increase the sensitivity of the Higgs search, background rejection rate is very important, so γ/π0 discrimination is one of the key points in the analysis. At least 40% of photons will convert with the experience of ATLAS and CMS. We constructed electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) in GEANT4 simulation, using 6 variables which have different shapes between converted γ and π0, with the TMVA (Toolkit for Multivariate Data Analysis) to do the separation. With this method we can get 30% to 60% π0 rejection efficiency when keeping 90% converted γ efficiency, in the region of transverse momentum 15 GeV to 75 GeV, not only in MC sumulation but also in real data.

Abstract

The Minimal Higgsless Model predicts the existence of new vector gauge boson W1±. By the process PP → W1±qq → W ± Z0qq, Z0 → l+l−, W ± → qq (l = e,μ; q is hadronized to be jets), we study the sensitivity of searching for this possible vector gauge boson in the level of generator events of signal and backgrounds, then give integrated luminosity required to discover 5σ signal as a function of W1± mass. The generator for the signal PP → W1±qq → W±Z0qq at tree level is developed with the Minimal Higgsless Model and then interfaced with PYTHIA for the parton showers and hadronization. The backgrounds are produced with MadGraph and PYTHIA.
