The programmable metasurface is regarded as one of the most promising transformative technologies for next-generation wireless system applications. Due to the lack of effective perception ability of the external electromagnetic environment, there are numerous challenges in the intelligent regulation of wireless channels, and it still relies on external sensors to reshape electromagnetic environment as desired. To address that problem, we propose an adaptive metasurface (AMS) which integrates the capabilities of acquiring wireless environment information and manipulating reflected electromagnetic (EM) waves in a programmable manner. The proposed design endows the metasurfaces with excellent capabilities to sense the complex electromagnetic field distributions around them and then dynamically manipulate the waves and signals in real time under the guidance of the sensed information, eliminating the need for prior knowledge or external inputs about the wireless environment. For verification, a prototype of the proposed AMS is constructed, and its dual capabilities of sensing and manipulation are experimentally validated. Additionally, different integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) scenarios with and without the aid of the AMS are established. The effectiveness of the AMS in enhancing communication quality is well demonstrated in complex electromagnetic environments, highlighting its beneficial application potential in future wireless systems.

With the versatile manipulation capability, programmable metasurfaces are rapidly advancing in their intelligence, integration, and commercialization levels. However, as the programmable metasurfaces scale up, their control configuration becomes increasingly complicated, posing significant challenges and limitations. Here, we propose a multiple-partition cross-modulation (MPCM) programmable metasurface to enhance the wireless communication coverage with low hardware complexity. We firstly propose an innovative encoding scheme to multiply the control voltage vectors of row-column crossing, achieving high beamforming precision in free space while maintaining low control hardware complexity and reducing memory requirements for coding sequences. We then design and fabricate an MPCM programmable metasurface to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed encoding scheme. The simulated and experimental results show good agreements with the theoretically calculated outcomes in beam scanning across the E and H planes and in free-space beam pointing. The MPCM programmable metasurface offers strong flexibility and low complexity by allowing various numbers and combinations of partition items in modulation methods, catering to diverse precision demands in various scenarios. We demonstrate the performance of MPCM programmable metasurface in a realistic indoor setting, where the transmissions of videos to specific receiver positions are successfully achieved, surpassing the capabilities of traditional programmable metasurfaces. We believe that the proposed programmable metasurface has great potentials in significantly empowering the wireless communications while addressing the challenges associated with the programmable metasurface's design and implementation.

Different from the previous treatment in a two-body framework, we introduce the dimeson distribution amplitudes (DAs) to describe the strong dynamics between the S-wave resonances $a_0(980, 1450)$ and the $K\bar K (\pi\eta)$ pair, where the Gegenbauer coefficient required is determined from the experimental data on the time-like form factors involved. The branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries of the decays $B \to a^{(\prime)}_0 h \to K\bar K(\pi\eta) h$, with $a_0=a_0(980)$, $a^{\prime}_0=a_0(1450)$ and $h$ referring to a pion or a kaon, are then calculated in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. We find that the branching ratios of the corresponding quasi-two-body decays $B\to a^{(\prime)}_0 K$ obtained with the narrow width approximation are closer to those predicted in the QCD factorization (QCDF) approach compared to the previous PQCD calculations, no matter a three-body or a two-body framework is assumed. Furthermore, all our predictions for these $B\to a^{(\prime)}_0 K$ decays are below the current experimental upper limits except for those of decays $B^0\to a^{(\prime)-}_0K^+$, which are (slightly) larger than the upper limits. Under the narrow width approximation, the branching ratios of the decays $B^+\to a^{(\prime)+}_0\pi^0$, $B^0\to a^{(\prime)+}_0\pi^-$ and $B^0\to a^{(\prime)0}_0\pi^0$ are comparable to or agree well with the previous PQCD and the QCDF calculations. While for the decays $B^+\to a^{(\prime)0}_0\pi^+$ and $B^0\to a^{(\prime)-}_0\pi^+$, their branching ratios are predicted to be unexpectedly large, for example, the obtained branching ratio of decay $B^+\to a^0_0\pi^+$ is even higher than the current experimental upper limit., Comment: 22 pages, 2 figures

We study the sensitivity reach to probe the electroweak dipole operators associated with a top quark at a multi-TeV lepton collider. Studying the electroweak dipole operators is strongly motivated by precision physics. The operators exhibit unique chiral structure and can be enhanced with respect to others in theories beyond the Standard Model. We illustrate this point in a strongly coupled composite Higgs model. We find that a high energy $\mu^+\mu^-$ collider may offer unique opportunity to probe the electroweak dipole operators beyond the coverage by the LHC and future hadron colliders. The significant sensitivity is achieved by the leading channel $\mu^+ \mu^- \to t \bar t$ near the threshold, and substantially improved by the novel channel $\mu^+ \mu^- \to t \bar t h$ at high energies. We may be able to reach a new physics scale well above the collider energy for moderate couplings of the Wilson coefficients. The semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of the b-flavor vector mesons $B^{*}_{u,d,s}$ and $B_{c}^{*}$ are investigated within the covariant light-front quark model (CLFQM). By calculating the form factors of the transitions $B_{u, d, s, c}^{*}\to P$ under the CLFQM, with $P$ denoting a pseudoscalar meson, i.e., $\pi, K, \eta_c(1S,2S), D_{(s)}, B_{(s)}$, we predict and discuss several physical observables, including the branching ratios, polarization fractions $f_{L}, f_{\|}$, and forward-backward asymmetries $A_{FB}$. The total widths of the single-photon radiative decay channels for these b-flavor vector mesons are estimated using their partial widths. In these considered decays, one can find that the semileptonic decays $B_{s}^{*0}\to D_{s}^{-}\ell^{\prime+}{\nu}_{\ell^\prime}$ and $B_{c}^{*+}\to B_{s}^{0}\ell^{\prime+}{\nu}_{\ell^\prime}, \eta_{c}\ell^{\prime+}{\nu}_{\ell^\prime}$, with $\ell^\prime$ being $e$ or $\tau$, and the nonleptonic channels $B_{c}^{*+}\to B^0_{s} \pi^{+}, B^0_{s} \rho^{+}$ have the largest branching ratios, which can reach up to the $10^{-7}$ order, and are most likely to be accessible at the future high-luminosity LHCb and Belle-II experiments., Comment: 30 pages, 4 figures,accepted for publication in Chin. Modern radar typically employs a chain architecture that consists of radio-frequency (RF) and intermediate frequency (IF) units, baseband digital signal processor, and information display. However, this architecture often results in high costs, significant hardware demands, and integration challenges. Here we propose a simplified radar architecture based on space-time-coding (STC) information metasurfaces. With their powerful capabilities to generate multiple harmonic frequencies and customize their phases, the STC metasurfaces play a key role in chirp signal generation, transmission, and echo reception. Remarkably, the receiving STC metasurface can implement dechirp processing directly on the RF level and realize the digital information outputs, which are beneficial to lower the hardware requirement at the receiving end while potentially shortening the time needed for conventional digital processing. As a proof of concept, the proposed metasurface radar is tested in a series of experiments for target detection and range/speed measurement, yielding results comparable to those obtained by conventional methods. Precise future human motion prediction over subsecond horizons from past observations is crucial for various safety-critical applications. To date, only one study has examined the vulnerability of human motion prediction to evasion attacks. In this paper, we propose BadHMP, the first backdoor attack that targets specifically human motion prediction. Our approach involves generating poisoned training samples by embedding a localized backdoor trigger in one arm of the skeleton, causing selected joints to remain relatively still or follow predefined motion in historical time steps. Subsequently, the future sequences are globally modified to the target sequences, and the entire training dataset is traversed to select the most suitable samples for poisoning. Our carefully designed backdoor triggers and targets guarantee the smoothness and naturalness of the poisoned samples, making them stealthy enough to evade detection by the model trainer while keeping the poisoned model unobtrusive in terms of prediction fidelity to untainted sequences. The target sequences can be successfully activated by the designed input sequences even with a low poisoned sample injection ratio. Experimental results on two datasets (Human3.6M and CMU-Mocap) and two network architectures (LTD and HRI) demonstrate the high-fidelity, effectiveness, and stealthiness of BadHMP. Robustness of our attack against fine-tuning defense is also verified.

The simulation of high-temperature superconducting materials by implementing strongly correlated fermionic models in optical lattices is one of the major objectives in the field of analog quantum simulation. Here we show that local control and optical bilayer capabilities combined with spatially resolved measurements create a versatile toolbox to study fundamental properties of both nickelate and cuprate high-temperature superconductors. On the one hand, we present a scheme to implement a mixed-dimensional (mixD) bilayer model that has been proposed to capture the essential pairing physics of pressurized bilayer nickelates. This allows for the long-sought realization of a state with long-range superconducting order in current lattice quantum simulation machines. In particular, we show how coherent pairing correlations can be accessed in a partially particle-hole transformed and rotated basis. On the other hand, we demonstrate that control of local gates enables the observation of $d$-wave pairing order in the two-dimensional (single-layer) repulsive Fermi-Hubbard model through the simulation of a system with attractive interactions. Lastly, we introduce a scheme to measure momentum-resolved dopant densities, providing access to observables complementary to solid-state experiments -- which is of particular interest for future studies of the enigmatic pseudogap phase appearing in cuprates., Comment: 15+5 pages

Quantum simulations of Hubbard models with ultracold atoms rely on the exceptional control of coherent motion provided by optical lattices. Here we demonstrate enhanced tunability using an optical superlattice in a fermionic quantum gas microscope. With our phase-stable bichromatic design, we achieve a precise control of tunneling and tilt throughout the lattice, as evidenced by long-lived coherent double-well oscillations and next-nearest-neighbor quantum walks in a staggered configuration. We furthermore present correlated quantum walks of two particles initiated through a resonant pair-breaking mechanism. Finally, we engineer tunable spin couplings through local offsets and create a spin ladder with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic couplings along the rungs and legs, respectively. Our work underscores the high potential of optical superlattices for engineering, simulating, and detecting strongly correlated many-body quantum states.

Wireless baseband processing (WBP) is a key element of wireless communications, with a series of signal processing modules to improve data throughput and counter channel fading. Conventional hardware solutions, such as digital signal processors (DSPs) and more recently, graphic processing units (GPUs), provide various degrees of parallelism, yet they both fail to take into account the cyclical and consecutive character of WBP. Furthermore, the large amount of data in WBPs cannot be processed quickly in symmetric multiprocessors (SMPs) due to the unpredictability of memory latency. To address this issue, we propose a hierarchical dataflow-driven architecture to accelerate WBP. A pack-and-ship approach is presented under a non-uniform memory access (NUMA) architecture to allow the subordinate tiles to operate in a bundled access and execute manner. We also propose a multi-level dataflow model and the related scheduling scheme to manage and allocate the heterogeneous hardware resources. Experiment results demonstrate that our prototype achieves $2\times$ and $2.3\times$ speedup in terms of normalized throughput and single-tile clock cycles compared with GPU and DSP counterparts in several critical WBP benchmarks. The pressure wave emitted from the air gun contains many frequencies, among which the low-frequency waves are desirable for exploration and imaging, while the high-frequency waves need to be suppressed as they are harmful to marine species. The high-frequency waves originate from the fast oscillations of the flow during the release of the air, such as the impingement of the gas jet into the liquid, the expansion of the air gun bubble, and the interaction between the air gun body and the bubble. However, those dynamic and the emitted waves are adjustable by the special design of the air guns. To analyze the underlying relations, we present a numerical study with a compressible air gun bubble model using the volume of fluid (VOF) approach combined with the finite volume method (FVM) implemented in STAR-CCM+. The venting process of an air gun is investigated to reveal the influence of the air gun body. The results show that air gun pressure for the far field is mainly proportional to the expansion acceleration of the whole gas. Our results also indicate that the opening and chamber shape of the air gun affects the gas expansion acceleration, which influences the first peak of the pressure wave significantly. The larger the opening is, the faster the gas is released, the greater the amplitude of the first peak is. The larger the chamber length/diameter ratio, the slower the gas is released and the lower the amplitude of the first peak., Comment: 21 pages, 15 figures

It is important to develop a unified theoretical framework to describe the nuclear experiments and astrophysical observations based on the same effective nuclear interactions. Based on the so-called Skyrme pseudopotential up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order, we construct a series of extended Skyrme interactions by modifying the density-dependent term and fitting the empirical nucleon optical potential up to above $1$ GeV, the empirical properties of isospin symmetric nuclear matter, the microscopic calculations of pure neutron matter and the properties of neutron stars from astrophysical observations. The modification of the density-dependent term in the extended Skyrme interactions follows the idea of Fermi momentum expansion and this leads to a highly flexible density behavior of the symmetry energy. In particular, the values of the density slope parameter $L$ of the symmetry energy for the new extended Skyrme interactions range from $L = -5$ MeV to $L = 125$ MeV by construction, to cover the large uncertainty of the density dependence of the symmetry energy. Furthermore, in order to consider the effects of isoscalar and isovector nucleon effective masses, we adjust the momentum dependency of the single-nucleon optical potential and the symmetry potential of these new extended Skyrme interactions and construct a parameter set family, by which we systematically study the impacts of the symmetry energy and the nucleon effective masses on the properties of nuclear matter and neutron stars. The new extended Skyrme interactions constructed in the present work will be useful to determine the equation of state of isospin asymmetric nuclear matter, especially the symmetry energy, as well as the nucleon effective masses and their isospin splitting, in transport model simulations for heavy-ion collisions, nuclear structure calculations and neutron star studies., Comment: 38 pages, 16 figures, 8 tables. The relation between d-wave superconductivity and stripes is fundamental to the understanding of ordered phases in cuprates. While experimentally both phases are found in close proximity, numerical studies on the related Fermi-Hubbard model have long been investigating whether stripes precede, compete or coexist with superconductivity. Such stripes are characterised by interleaved charge and spin density wave ordering where fluctuating lines of dopants separate domains of opposite antiferromagnetic order. Here we show first signatures of stripes in a cold-atom Fermi-Hubbard quantum simulator. By engineering a mixed-dimensional system, we increase their typical energy scales to the spin exchange energy, enabling us to access the interesting crossover temperature regime where stripes begin to form. We observe extended, attractive correlations between hole dopants and find an increased probability to form larger structures akin to stripes. In the spin sector, we study correlation functions up to third order and find results consistent with stripe formation. These higher-order correlation measurements pave the way towards an improved microscopic understanding of the emergent properties of stripes and their relation to other competing phases. More generally, our approach has direct relevance for newly discovered high-temperature superconducting materials in which mixed dimensions play an essential role., Comment: 16 pages, 21 figures

We study the phenomenology of leptophilic $Z'$ gauge bosons at the future high-energy $e^+e^-$ and $\mu^+\mu^-$ colliders, as well as at the gravitational wave observatories. The leptophilic $Z'$ model, although well-motivated, remains largely unconstrained from current low-energy and collider searches for $Z'$ masses above ${\cal O}(100~{\rm GeV})$, thus providing a unique opportunity for future lepton colliders. Taking $U(1)_{L_\alpha-L_\beta}~(\alpha,\beta=e,\mu,\tau)$ models as concrete examples, we show that future $e^+e^-$ and $\mu^+\mu^-$ colliders with multi-TeV center-of-mass energies provide unprecedented sensitivity to heavy leptophilic $Z'$ bosons. Moreover, if these $U(1)$ models are classically scale-invariant, the phase transition at the $U(1)$ symmetry-breaking scale tends to be strongly first-order with ultra-supercooling, and leads to observable stochastic gravitational wave signatures. We find that the future sensitivity of gravitational wave observatories, such as advanced LIGO-VIRGO and Cosmic Explorer, can be complementary to the collider experiments, probing higher $Z'$ masses up to ${\cal O}(10^4~{\rm TeV})$, while being consistent with naturalness and perturbativity considerations., Comment: 43 pages, 19 figures, and 4 tables

In this work, we investigate the semileptonic decays of $B_{c}$ meson to $\eta_{c}(1S,2S,3S)$, $\psi(1S,2S,3S)$ and $X(3872)$ within the framework of covariant light-front quark model (CLFQM). We combine the helicity amplitudes via the corresponding form factors to obtain the branching ratios of the semileptonic decays $B_{c}\to \eta_{c}(1S, 2S, 3S)\ell\nu_{\ell}$, $B_{c}\to \psi(1S, 2S, 3S))\ell\nu_{\ell}$ and $B_{c}\to X(3872)\ell\nu_{\ell}$ with $\ell=e,\mu,\tau$. In view of the $R_{J/\Psi}$ anomaly released by the LHCb collaboration, it is necessary to calculate the ratios $R_X$ with $X=\psi(1S,2S,3S),\eta_c(1S,2S,3S),X(3872)$ systematically, which are helpful to check the lepton flavor universality (LFU). Furthermore, we also take into account another two physical observables, one is the longitudinal polarization fraction $f_{L}$ and the other is the forward-backward asymmetry $A_{FB}$, which can provide new clues to understand the $R_{J /\Psi}$ anomaly. Such theoretical predictions are necessary and interesting, which can be tested in the future LHCb experiments., Comment: 23 pages, 4 figures

In this work we study the quasi-two-body decays $B_c \to \ K^{*} h \to K \pi h (h = D, D_s, K, \pi, \eta, \eta')$ in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. The two-meson distribution amplitudes (DAs) $\Phi^{\text{P-wave}}_{K\pi}$ are introduced to describe the final state interactions of the K \pi pair, which involve the time-like form factors F_{K\pi}(s) parameterized by the relativistic Breit-Wigner function and the Gegenbauer polynomials. We calculate the branching ratios for these quasi-two-body decays, from which one can obtain the branching raios for the corresponding two-body decays under the narrow width approximation relation. We find that $B^+_c\to K^{*+}D^0$ and $B^+_c\to K^{*0}D^+$ have the largest branching ratios, which can reach up to $10^{-6}$, while the branching ratios for other two-body decays are very small and only about $10^{-8}\sim10^{-7}$. As we expected that the branching ratios of the pure annihilation decays are usually small, while in our considered such type of decays, the channel $B_c^+ \to \bar K^{*0}K^{+}$ has the largest branching ratio, which is near $10^{-6}$. These results are consistent with the previously PQCD calculations obtained in the two-body framework, which can be tested by the future LHCb experiments. For the decays $B_c^+ \to K^{*+} D^{0}\to K^{0}\pi^+D^{0} , B_c^+ \to K^{*0}D^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^-D^{+}$ and $B_c^+ \to \bar K^{*0}D_s^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^+D_s^{+}$, we calculate their direct CP violations and find that $A_{CP}(B_c^+ \to K^{*+}D^{0}\to K^{0}\pi^+D^{0})=(-14.6_{-1.12}^{+9.19})\%$ is the largest one, which is possible measured by the present LHCb experiments. For the pure annihilation type decays, there is no CP violations because only the tree operators are involved. Furthermore, we also give the differential distributions of the branching ratios and the direct CP violations for the decays $B_c\to K^* D_{(s)}\to K \pi D_{(s)}$., Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables

We present an X-ray spectrum of the diffuse X-ray background (DXRB) between 1.5 and 120 keV, as measured with the Low-Energy Detector (LE) and the High-Energy Detector (HE) aboard the Insight-HXMT satellite, based on 'blank-sky' observations. LE covers a nominal energy range of 1-15 keV and HE 20-250 keV, but calibration issues and data quality narrowed the energy range for this work. The LE background was directly measured with `blind' detector modules, while the HE background was derived from Earth-occultation data. With the LE data alone, the measured DXRB spectrum can be well described by a power law; fitting the LE and HE data jointly, however, a spectral cut-off must be introduced in the model to account for the measurements above 30 keV. Modelling the combined spectrum with a cut-off power law, the best-fit photon index is 1.40, normalisation $9.57$~$\rm ph~cm^{-2}~s^{-1}~keV^{-1}~sr^{-1} $ (at 1 keV), and cut-off energy 55 keV, after correcting for the effects of the Earth albedo and atmospheric emission (which are significant in the HE band). Based on the best-fit cut-off power law, we derived the spectral energy distribution (SED) of the DXRB. The shape of the SED is in general agreement with the published measurements, but the overall normalization is lower by varying amounts, except for the HEAO-1 result, with which our result is in good agreement., Comment: 9 pages, 14 figures, published in MNRAS
