An enclosed karst depression, a typical natural negative terrain, has the advantage of less engineering excavation when constructing a reservoir. In this study, the enclosed karst depression and its range identification technique have been developed. What is more, the geometric parameters and spatial distribution of enclosed karst depressions in Anlong County, Guizhou Province of China, have also been analyzed. Results show that (1) the focus statistic method and local terrain contour tree model were developed to identify enclosed karst depression and its range using regular grid DEM data with 12.5 m spatial resolution, which has been applied to enclosed karst depression identification in Anlong County. (2) 7262 independent and nested depressions with an average density of 3.7/km2 were identified by using the proposed method. The effectiveness and reliability of the proposed model have been verified through comparative analysis and visual recognition comparison. (3) High-density depression areas (5.6 depressions/km2), medium-density depression areas (2.9 depressions/km2), and low-density depression areas (1.1 depressions/km2) were well classified through kernel density analysis. (4) The geometric parameters of enclosed karst depressions (area, perimeter, circularity, depth, elevation, slope, and volume) were all analyzed in the study area. In addition, an indicator called DCK (depression is caused by karstification) was proposed to evaluate the dissolution degree and karstification stage of the enclosed karst depression. Based on the DCK, we determined that around 2.7% of depressions were identified as middle-stage and suitable for reservoir construction with enough volume and good slope stability. The idea and method in this research could provide a technological support for the engineering utilization of enclosed karst depressions.

Aim/Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most frequent and widespread disease in the world.Obesity is the most significant predictor of T2DM, but the exact mechanism how obesity promotes T2DM remains unknown. Finding specific biomarkers to assist in diagnosing and treating patients with obese and T2DM is critical. Materials and Methods: We collected liver tissues from obesity patients with and without T2DM for proteomic sequencing and immunohistochemistry assay. Analysis Gene Ontology(GO) enrichment, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG), and protein interaction network (PPI) were performed on the parameters and data derived from the Tandem Mass Tags(TMT)-based proteomics analysis of liver tissues. Transcriptome data were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)website and genes that are deferentially expressed in both transcriptome and proteome were selected. Results: We identified 140 deferentially expressed proteins from proteomic sequencing. Six biomarkers were deferentially expressed in both proteome and transcriptome with consistent changes in direction. The protein–protein interaction (PPI) analysis suggested CMPK1, the expression with greatest difference, was the core protein among the six biomarkers. Immunohistochemistry validated CMPK1 was upregulated significantly in the liver tissues of T2DM patients. The correlation analysis revealed that the expression of CMPK1 was significantly associated with key molecules in T2DM-related pathways at both protein and transcriptome levels. Conclusion and Novelty: Our study showed CMPK1 was upregulated in the liver of T2DM patients and provides a possible new target for screening and diagnosing T2DM in patients with obese and a novel theoretical basis for the pathophysiological mechanism of obesity-related metabolic diseases. Lithium-ion batteries dominate the battery field, particularly for electric and hybrid vehicles. Monoclinic Li3V2(PO4)3 has emerged as one of the most promising candidates for the cathode in lithium-ion batteries, offering better environmental safety and lower cost than competing materials. We have used in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy to characterize the evolution of the vanadium in a Li3V2(PO4)3 cathode as it is cycled electrochemically. These data demonstrate the presence of significant kinetic effects such that the measured electrochemical behavior does not represent the bulk vanadium. When the cell is cycled between 3 and 4.5 V, there are two distinct vanadium species. When the potential is raised above 4.5 V, a third species is observed, consistent with formation of V5+. XANES data for the cathode after 3-4.8 V cycling are consistent with a severely distorted vanadium site, suggesting that lithium-vanadium antisite mixing may be responsible for the electrochemical irreversibility that is seen above 4.5 V.
