2. Effects of neutron-skin thickness on direct hard photon emission from reactions induced by the neutron-rich projectile $^{50}$Ca

Abstract

Direct hard photon emissions from incoherent proton-neutron bremsstrahlung in collisions of the neutron-rich projectile $^{50}$Ca with $^{12}$C and $^{40}$Ca targets are simulated in the framework of the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model. By adjusting the diffuseness parameter of neutron density in the droplet model to obtain different neutron skin thicknesses for $^{50}$Ca, the effects of neutron skin thickness on direct hard photon emission are investigated via several probes. The results show that more direct hard photons are produced with increasing neutron skin thickness in peripheral collisions. Meanwhile, we find that the multiplicity yield ratio $R_{cp}(\sigma_{\gamma})$ between central collisions and peripheral collisions as well as the rapidity dependence of multiplicity for direct hard photons are sensitive to neutron skin thickness. The results indicate that direct hard photon emission can be taken as an experimental observable to extract information on neutron skin thickness., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures

3. Sb recovery from an As pre-removed lead anode slime using a ZnS-Na2CO3 smelting reduction

Abstract

Lead anode slime is produced in large quantities during lead electrolysis, which has a high Sb content of 10-50 wt% and can be easily recycled. However, in a general alkaline pressure leaching process for pre-removal of As, Sb was partially converted to Na3SbO4 with high stability. This limited the Sb reduction and recovery in the subsequent Na2CO3 smelting reduction. Considering this fact, ZnS was creatively used as an additive in this study to destroy the stable structure of Na3SbO4 and increase Sb reduction, and meanwhile ZnS was reduced to volatile Zn (g) and recycled. In a certain range, increasing the amount of coke and ZnS increased the Sb yield, and Pb recycling could be accelerated. However, when an excessive amount of ZnS was added, the Sb compounds could be sulfurized and then combined with the generated PbS and Na2S, forming a sodium matte of Na-Pb-Sb-S. This limited the Sb reduction and reduced the Sb yield. Under the optimum conditions of a coke content of 13%, a ZnS/Sb molar ratio of 0.32, a smelting temperature of 1200 °C and a holding time of 90 min, Sb, Pb and Zn yields of up to 94.8%, 96.1% and 98.9%, respectively, were obtained.

4. Azimuthal anisotropy and multiplicities of hard photons and free nucleons in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions

Abstract

Anisotropic flow can offer significant information of evolution dynamics in heavy-ion collisions. A systematic study of the directed flow $v_1$ and elliptic flow $v_2$ of hard photons and free nucleons is performed for $^{40}$Ca+$^{40}$Ca collisions in a framework of isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model. The study firstly reveals that thermal photons emitted in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions have the behaviors of directed and elliptic flows. The interesting phenomena of incident energy dependence of $v_1$ and $v_2$ for thermal photons in central collisions also confirmed that it can be regarded as a good probe of evolution dynamics. Moreover, the multiplicities of hard photons and free nucleons and their correlation are also investigated. We find that direct photon emission is positively related to free nucleons emission, however, there exists an anti-correlation for thermal photons with free nucleons., Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures

9. A long decay of X-ray flux and spectral evolution in the supersoft active galactic nucleus GSN 069

Abstract

GSN 069 is an optically identified very low-mass AGN which shows supersoft X-ray emission. The source is known to exhibit huge X-ray outburst, with flux increased by more than a factor of ~240 compared to the quiescence state. We report its long-term evolution in the X-ray flux and spectral variations over a time-scale of ~decade, using both new and archival X-ray observations from the XMM and Swift. The new Swift observations detected the source in its lowest level of X-ray activity since outburst, a factor of ~4 lower in the 0.2-2 keV flux than that obtained with the XMM observations nearly 8 years ago. Combining with the historical X-ray measurements, we find that the X-ray flux is decreasing slowly. There seemed to be spectral softening associated with the drop of X-ray flux. In addition, we find evidence for the presence of a weak, variable hard X-ray component, in addition to the dominant thermal blackbody emission reported before. The long decay of X-ray flux and spectral evolution, as well as the supersoft X-ray spectra, suggest that the source could be a tidal disruption event, though a highly variable AGN cannot be fully ruled out. Further continued X-ray monitoring would be required to test the TDE interpretation, through better determining the flux evolution in the decay phase., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, published in the ApJ letters

10. Investigation of giant dipole resonance in heavy deformed nuclei with the EQMD model

Abstract

The deformation evolution of giant dipole resonance (GDR), in the chains of Sm and Nd isotopes, are investigated in the framework of an extended quantum molecular dynamics (EQMD) model. The mass number dependence of resonance peak position $(E_{m})$ in the major and minor axis directions of deformed nuclei as well as the difference $\Delta E_{m}$ between them are described in detail. The correlation between the splitting ($\Delta E_{m} /\bar{E}_m $) of the GDR spectra and the deformation($ \beta_{2}$) is further studied. The results confirm that $\Delta E_{m} /\bar{E}_m $ is proportional to $ \beta_{2}$. By comparing the calculation with the experimental data on photon absorption cross section $\sigma_{\gamma}$, it shows that the EQMD model can quite well reproduce the shape of GDR spectra from spherical to prolate shape. The GDR shapes in $^{134}$Sm, $^{136}$Sm, $^{138}$Sm, $^{130}$Nd, $^{132}$Nd and $^{134}$Nd are also predicted. In addition, the symmetry energy coefficient $(E_{sym})$ dependence of GDR spectra of $^{150}$Nd is also discussed. It is found that the calculated GDR spectrum in the EQMD model is perfectly consistent with the experimental results when $E_{sym}$ equals to 32 MeV., Comment: 6 figures, 8 pages; Physical Review C (in press)

14. Isobaric yield ratio difference between the 140 $A$ MeV $^{58, 64}$Ni + $^{9}$Be reactions studied by antisymmetric molecular dynamics model

Abstract

\item[Background] The isobaric yield ratio difference (IBD) method is found to be sensitive to the density difference of neutron-rich nucleus induced reaction around the Fermi energy. \item[Purpose] An investigation is performed to study the IBD results in the transport model. \item[Methods] The antisymmetric molecular dynamics (AMD) model plus the sequential decay model GEMINI are adopted to simulate the 140$A$ MeV $^{58, 64}$Ni + $^{9}$Be reactions. A relative small coalescence radius R$_c =$ 2.5 fm is used for the phase space at $t =$ 500 fm/c to form the hot fragment. Two limitations on the impact parameter ($b1 = 0 - 2$ fm and $b2 = 0 - 9$ fm) are used to study the effect of central collisions in IBD. \item[Results] The isobaric yield ratios (IYRs) for the large--$A$ fragments are found to be suppressed in the symmetric reaction. The IBD results for fragments with neutron-excess $I = $ 0 and 1 are obtained. A small difference is found in the IBDs with the $b1$ and $b2$ limitations in the AMD simulated reactions. The IBD with $b1$ and $b2$ are quite similar in the AMD + GEMINI simulated reactions. \item[Conclusions] The IBDs for the $I =$ 0 and 1 chains are mainly determined by the central collisions, which reflects the nuclear density in the core region of the reaction system. The increasing part of the IBD distribution is found due to the difference between the densities in the peripheral collisions of the reactions. The sequential decay process influences the IBD results. The AMD + GEMINI simulation can better reproduce the experimental IBDs than the AMD simulation., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

This paper proposes a fixed-time fuzzy adaptive output feedback control scheme for the robotic arm model (RAM) of steel structures. Firstly, the process of transforming RAM into a nonlinear system is elaborated. Secondly, a fuzzy observer is designed to approximate the nonlinear function and estimate the observed state of the system. Subsequently, a fixed-time adaptive controller is constructed, ensuring the system’s stability within a fixed time, with the convergence time unaffected by the initial state. Finally, the effectiveness of the strategy is verified through simulation examples.

17. Analysis of the force on the balance beam of the lifting device

Abstract

In the process of hoisting the memorial archway, because the balance beam directly lifts the memorial archway, it is easy to deform during the hoisting process, and the deformation will affect the follow-up work, resulting in the delay of the project progress. In order to avoid this situation, the existing conditions are used to calculate the load that the balance beam can bear. Using 3D modeling and numerical simulation software, conduct force analysis on the balanced beam, and compare the simulation results with the calculated values to determine whether the stress and deformation of the balanced beam meet the requirements. The simulation results show that the stress on the balance beam during the lifting process does not exceed the maximum yield stress of its own material, which meets the requirements of the working conditions.

18. Temperature determined by isobaric yield ratio in heavy-ion collisions

Abstract

This work focuses on the study of temperature associated with the final heavy fragments in reactions induced by both the neutron-proton symmetric and the neutron-rich projectiles, and with incident energy ranges from 60$A$ MeV to 1$A$ GeV. Isobaric yield ratio (IYR) is used to determine the temperature of heavy fragments. Cross sections of measured fragment in reactions are analyzed, and a modified statistical abrasion-ablation (SAA) model is used to calculate the yield of fragment in 140$A$ MeV $^{64}$Ni + $^{9}$Be and 1$A$ GeV $^{136}$Xe + $^{208}$Pb reactions. Relatively low $T$ of heavy fragments are obtained in different reactions ($T$ ranges from 1 to 3MeV). $T$ is also found to depend on the neutron-richness of the projectile. The incident energy affects $T$ very little. $\Delta\mu/T$ (the ratio of the difference between the chemical potential of neutron and proton to temperature) is found to increase linearly as $N/Z$ of projectile increases. It is found that $T$ of the $^{48}$Ca reaction, for which IYRs are of $A<50$ isobars, is affected greatly by the temperature-corrected $\Delta B(T)$. But $T$ of reactions using IYRs of heavier fragments are only slightly affected by the temperature-corrected $\Delta B(T)$. The SAA model analysis gives a consistent overview of the results extracted in this work. $T$ from IYR, which is for secondary fragment, is different from that of the hot emitting source. $T$ and $\Delta\mu$ are essentially governed by the sequential decay process., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

19. Reexamining the 'finite-size' effects in isobaric yield ratios using a statistical abrasion-ablation model

Abstract

The "finite-size" effects in the isobaric yield ratio (IYR), which are shown in the standard grand-canonical and canonical statistical ensembles (SGC/CSE) method, is claimed to prevent obtaining the actual values of physical parameters. The conclusion of SGC/CSE maybe questionable for neutron-rich nucleus induced reaction. To investigate whether the IYR has "finite-size" effects, the IYR for the mirror nuclei [IYR(m)] are reexamined using a modified statistical abrasion-ablation (SAA) model. It is found when the projectile is not so neutron-rich, the IYR(m) depends on the isospin of projectile, but the size dependence can not be excluded. In reactions induced by the very neutron-rich projectiles, contrary results to those of the SGC/CSE models are obtained, i.e., the dependence of the IYR(m) on the size and the isospin of the projectile is weakened and disappears both in the SAA and the experimental results., Comment: 5 pages and 4 figures

We derive the precise asymptotic distributional behavior of Gaussian variational approximate estimators of the parameters in a single-predictor Poisson mixed model. These results are the deepest yet obtained concerning the statistical properties of a variational approximation method. Moreover, they give rise to asymptotically valid statistical inference. Abstract

We present the precision measurements of 11 years of daily cosmic electron fluxes in the rigidity interval from 1.00 to 41.9 GV based on 2.0 x 10⁸ electrons collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The electron fluxes exhibit variations on multiple timescales. Recurrent electron flux variations with periods of 27 days, 13.5 days, and 9 days are observed. We find that the electron fluxes show distinctly different time variations from the proton fluxes. Remarkably, a hysteresis between the electron flux and the proton flux is observed with a significance of greater than 6 sigma at rigidities below 8.5 GV. Furthermore, significant structures in the electron-proton hysteresis are observed corresponding to sharp structures in both fluxes. This continuous daily electron data provide unique input to the understanding of the charge sign dependence of cosmic rays over an 11-year solar cycle.

Abstract

We report the properties of primary cosmic-ray sulfur (S) in the rigidity range 2.15 GV to 3.0 TV based on 0.38 x 10⁶ sulfur nuclei collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment (AMS). We observed that above 90 GV the rigidity dependence of the S flux is identical to the rigidity dependence of Ne-Mg-Si fluxes, which is different from the rigidity dependence of the He-C-O-Fe fluxes. We found that, similar to N, Na, and Al cosmic rays, over the entire rigidity range, the traditional primary cosmic rays S, Ne, Mg, and C all have sizeable secondary components, and the S, Ne, and Mg fluxes are well described by the weighted sum of the primary silicon flux and the secondary fluorine flux, and the C flux is well described by the weighted sum of the primary oxygen flux and the secondary boron flux. The primary and secondary contributions of the traditional primary cosmic-ray fluxes of C, Ne, Mg, and S (even Z elements) are distinctly different from the primary and secondary contributions of the N, Na, and Al (odd Z elements) fluxes. The abundance ratio at the source for S/Si is 0.167 ± 0.006, for Ne/Si is 0.833 ± 0.025, for Mg/Si is 0.994 ± 0.029, and for C/O is 0.836 ± 0.025. These values are determined independent of cosmic-ray propagation.

Abstract

Tests of human brain circuit function typically require fixed equipment in lab environments. We have developed a smartphone-based platform for neurometric testing. This platform, which uses AI models like computer vision, is optimized for at-home use and produces reproducible, robust results on a battery of tests, including eyeblink conditioning, prepulse inhibition of acoustic startle response, and startle habituation. This approach provides a scalable, universal resource for quantitative assays of central nervous system function.
