1. Web Service QoS Prediction via Extended Canonical Polyadic-based Tensor Network

Abstract

Today, numerous web services with similar functionalities are available on the Internet. Users often evaluate the Quality of Service (QoS) to choose the best option among them. Predicting the QoS values of these web services is a significant challenge in the field of web services. A Canonical Polyadic (CP)-based tensor network model has proven to be efficient for predicting dynamic QoS data. However, current CP-based tensor network models do not consider the correlation of users and services in the low-dimensional latent feature space, thereby limiting model's prediction capability. To tackle this issue, this paper proposes an Extended Canonical polyadic-based Tensor Network (ECTN) model. It models the correlation of users and services via building a relation dimension between user feature and service feature in low-dimensional space, and then designs an extended CP decomposition structure to improve prediction accuracy. Experiments are conducted on two public dynamic QoS data, and the results show that compared with state-of-the-art QoS prediction models, the ECTN obtains higher prediction accuracy., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

2. MNTD: An Efficient Dynamic Community Detector Based on Nonnegative Tensor Decomposition

Abstract

Dynamic community detection is crucial for elucidating the temporal evolution of social structures, information dissemination, and interactive behaviors within complex networks. Nonnegative matrix factorization provides an efficient framework for identifying communities in static networks but fall short in depicting temporal variations in community affiliations. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a Modularity maximization-incorporated Nonnegative Tensor RESCAL Decomposition (MNTD) model for dynamic community detection. This method serves two primary functions: a) Nonnegative tensor RESCAL decomposition extracts latent community structures in different time slots, highlighting the persistence and transformation of communities; and b) Incorporating an initial community structure into the modularity maximization algorithm, facilitating more precise community segmentations. 3. Large-scale Dynamic Network Representation via Tensor Ring Decomposition

Abstract

Large-scale Dynamic Networks (LDNs) are becoming increasingly important in the Internet age, yet the dynamic nature of these networks captures the evolution of the network structure and how edge weights change over time, posing unique challenges for data analysis and modeling. A Latent Factorization of Tensors (LFT) model facilitates efficient representation learning for a LDN. But the existing LFT models are almost based on Canonical Polyadic Factorization (CPF). Therefore, this work proposes a model based on Tensor Ring (TR) decomposition for efficient representation learning for a LDN. Specifically, we incorporate the principle of single latent factor-dependent, non-negative, and multiplicative update (SLF-NMU) into the TR decomposition model, and analyze the particular bias form of TR decomposition. Experimental studies on two real LDNs demonstrate that the propose method achieves higher accuracy than existing models.

10. Regorafenib monotherapy or combined with an immune-checkpoint inhibitor as later-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer: a multicenter, real-world retrospective study in China

Abstract

Abstract Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of regorafenib monotherapy or in combination with immune-checkpoint inhibitor while treating Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC): a real-world study. Methods The data of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who received regorafenib-containing regimen as the third or later line treatment at ten Chinese hospitals from Aug 2017 to Jun 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, including dosing details, survival data as well as adverse events. Survival analysis was further performed for patients administrated with regorafenib monotherapy and combined with an immune-checkpoint inhibitor based on Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression methods. The primary endpoint was overall survival. Results A total of 537 patients were included with a median age of 61, among whom 376 received regorafenib monotherapy and 245 received regorafenib combined with immune-checkpoint inhibitors. The clinicopathological characteristics of the two groups at baseline were mainly balanced. No significant difference in progression-free survival (PFS) was observed in patients receiving regorafenib monotherapy or combination therapy (3.8 vs. 5.5 months, p = 0.170). In contrast, patients receiving combination therapy had a more prolonged overall survival (OS) than those receiving regorafenib monotherapy (13.5 vs. 10.0 months, p = 0.001). The treatment regimen and regorafenib dosage were significant prognostic factors in the multivariate analysis. Significant benefits in PFS and OS were achieved in KRAS mutant and anti-angiogenesis treatment-naïve subgroups receiving combination therapy compared to monotherapy. No apparent increase was recorded in treatment-related adverse events in patients receiving combination therapy. Conclusion Regorafenib plus an immune-checkpoint inhibitor has already been a widely adopted strategy in the later-line treatment for mCRC in the real world. The combination therapy yielded a significantly prolonged overall survival than regorafenib alone, with a manageable safety profile in Chinese patients, and warrants further investigation. Abstract Background The efficacy of systemic therapy regimens, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (IO‐TKI) and targeted therapy, for metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) remains unpredictable due to the lack of effective biomarkers. Methods In this retrospective study, patients with metastatic ccRCC who received targeted drugs and IO‐TKI were included. Immunofluorescence staining was utilized to quantify the levels of tissue NETs through cell counts of H3Cit(+) and MPO(+) cells. 20. Downstaging guided neoadjuvant strategy shift and bladder preservation in locally advanced bladder cancer: A case report

Abstract

Background: The study of bladder preservation for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) mainly focuses on the T2 stage, which remains difficult in the T3 and T4 stage. Pembrolizumab has been applied as neoadjuvant therapy followed by radical cystectomy for MIBC, gaining encouraging results in the phase II study. Disitamab vedotin, an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), also achieved promising efficacy for refractory bladder cancer. However, the neoadjuvant therapy strategy of these drugs for bladder sparing remains further exploration. Case presentation: A patient with locally advanced MIBC at our institute underwent a neoadjuvant therapeutic regimen followed by transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) and concurrent chemoradiotherapy. In light of limited initial efficacy, we enacted an adaptive shift in the neoadjuvant treatment strategy, transitioning from a combination of gemcitabine, cis-platinum, and pembrolizumab to disitamab vedotin with pembrolizumab. This approach ultimately achieved bladder preservation, complete response, and a remarkable 1-year disease-free survival (DFS). Conclusion: Proactive evaluation in the early stages of tumor downstaging can serve as a guiding principle for neoadjuvant strategies. This is the first successful case of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab combined with disitamab vedotin and chemotherapy in MIBC patients achieving complete response and bladder preservation.

26. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with modified FOLFOXIRI for locally advanced rectal cancer to transform effectively EMVI and MRF from positive to negative: results of a long-term single center phase 2 clinical trial

Abstract

Abstract Purpose Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) remains the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). This phase 2 clinical trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant triplet chemotherapy with mFOLFOXIRI (folinic acid, 5-fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan) in LARC. Patients and methods The patients with LARC (the lower edge more than 5 cm from the anal verge) received up to 5 cycles of mFOLFOXIRI. MRI was performed to assess the baseline and postchemotherapy TN stage. Radical resection was performed within 4–6 weeks from the last dose of chemotherapy if the tumor shrank or remained stable. Adjuvant chemotherapy with mFOLFOX6 or XELOX was recommended. Postoperative radiation was planned for R1 resection, ypT4b, ypN2 and a positive CRM. The primary endpoint was the pathological complete response (pCR) rate. Results From February 2016 to March 2019, 50 patients were enrolled. Forty-eight (96%) were clinically node-positive, 28 (56.5%) with MRF invasion and 39 (78.4%) were EMVI positive. The median cycle of neoadjuvant mFOLFOXIRI chemotherapy was 5 (range,1–5). A total of 46/50 (92%) patients underwent total mesorectal excision (TME) surgery, all with R0 resection. The pCR rate was 4.3% (2/46). Twenty-three of 46 (50%) patients with cN + achieved a pathological node-negative status. The proportions of pathologically positive CRM and EMVI were 2.2% and 34.7%, respectively. Adjuvant radiotherapy was given to 14/46 (30.4%) patients. The most common Grade 3 or > toxicities included neutrocytopenia (50%), leukopenia (14%) and diarrhea (12%) during the neoadjuvant chemotherapy period. Clinically meaningful postoperative complications included pneumonia (n = 1), pelvic infection (n = 1) and anastomotic fistula (n = 1). With a median follow-up time of 51.2 months, local recurrences and distant metastases were confirmed in 3 (6.5%) and 9 (19.6%) of cases, respectively. The 3-year disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS)rates were 75.8% and 86.8%. Conclusion Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with mFOLFOXIRI yielded a significant down-staging effect and seemed to be effective in eliminating EMVI and transforming the positive MRF to negative in LARC. The survival results are promising. The long-term follow-up showed promising DFS and OS rates accompanied by a favorable safety profile. Abstract

Abstract Background A Phase II study was undertaken to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the neoadjuvant socazolimab, a novel PD-L1 inhibitor, in combination with nab-paclitaxel and cisplatin for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods Sixty-four patients were randomly divided between the Socazolimab + nab-paclitaxel + cisplatin (TP) arm (n = 32) and the control arm (n = 32), receiving either socazolimab (5 mg/kg intravenously (IV), day 1) or a placebo with nab-paclitaxel (125 mg/m2 IV, day 1/8) and cisplatin (75 mg/m2 IV, day 1) repeated every 21 days for four cycles before surgery. The primary endpoint was major pathological response (MPR), and the secondary endpoints were pathological complete response (pCR), R0 resection rate, event-free survival (EFS), overall survival (OS), and safety. Results A total of 29 (90.6%) patients in each arm underwent surgery, and 29 (100%) and 28 (98.6%) patients underwent R0 resection in the Socazolimab + TP and Placebo + TP arms, respectively. The MPR rates were 69.0 and 62.1% (95% Confidence Interval (CI): 49.1–84.0% vs. 42.4–78.7%, P = 0.509), and the pCR rates were 41.4 and 27.6% (95% CI: 24.1–60.9% vs. 13.5–47.5%, P = 0.311) in the Socazolimab + TP and Placebo + TP arms, respectively. Significantly higher incidence rates of ypT0 (37.9% vs. 3.5%; P = 0.001) and T downstaging were observed in the Socazolimab + TP arm than in the Placebo + TP arm. The EFS and OS outcomes were not mature. Conclusions The neoadjuvant socazolimab combined with chemotherapy demonstrated promising MPR and pCR rates and significant T downstaging in locally advanced ESCC without increasing surgical complication rates. Abstract Background The current study aimed to investigate the dynamic alteration and prognostic significance of tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs), and PD‐L1 status of immune cells in muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Methods Multiplex immunofluorescence staining was performed to examine CD68+ TAM, CD4+ T cell, CD8+ T cell, FOXP3+ Treg cell, and PD‐L1 expression in paired MIBC tissues (n = 54) before and after NAC. Patients were then divided into definite responders (DR), (≤pT1) and incomplete responders (IR). Results There was no significant difference between DR and IR cohorts for the immune cell infiltration levels at the baseline status. Tobacco history was identified to be associated with worse NAC efficacy. Abstract

The optical response of an artificial hybrid molecule system composed of two metallic nanoparticles (MNPs) and a semiconductor quantum dot (SQD) is investigated theoretically due to the plasmon-exciton-plasmon coupling effects on the absorption properties of the hybrid nanosystem, which depends on the interaction between the induced dipole moments in the SQD and the MNPs, respectively. We show that the strong coupling of exciton and localized surface plasmons in such a hybrid molecules leads to appealing, tunable optical properties by adjusting the symmetry of the hybrid molecule nanosystem with controllable interparticle distances. We also address here the influence of the size of the MNPs and dielectric constant of the background medium on the optical absorption of the MNPs and SQD, respectively, which results in the interparticle Foster resonance energy transfer (FRET). Our results will open an avenue to deal with the surface-enhanced spectroscopies and potential application of the quantum information.

Abstract

Transport properties of a single plasmon interacting with two quantum dots (QDs) system coupled to one-dimensional surface plasmonic waveguide are investigated theoretically via the real-space approach. We mainly focus on the coupling effects of the two QDs on the transmission properties of a single incident plasmon. We demonstrated that switching of a single plasmon can be achieved by controlling the interparticle distance, the interparticle coupling strength, and the QD-waveguide coupling strength, as well as spectral detuning. We also showed that the coupling between the continuum excitations and the discrete excitations results in the Fano-type transmission spectrum. The transport properties of a single plasmon interacting with such a two direct coupled QDs system could find the applications in the design of plasmonic nanodevices, such as single photon switching and nanomirrors, and in quantum information processing.

Abstract

As smart grid advance, Power Load Forecasting (PLF) has become a research hotspot. As the foundation of the forecasting model, the Power Load Monitoring (PLM) data takes on great importance due to its completeness, reliability and accuracy. However, monitoring equipment failures, transmission channel congestion and anomalies result in missing PLM data, which directly affects the performance of the PLF model. To address this issue, this paper proposes an L1-and-L2-Regularized Nonnegative Tensor Factorization (LNTF) model to impute PLM missing data. Its main idea is threefold: (1) combining L1 and L2 norms to achieve effective feature extraction and improve the model's robustness; (2) incorporating two temporal-dependent linear biases to describe the fluctuations of PLM data; (3) adding nonnegative constraints to precisely define the nonnegativity of PLM data. Extensive empirical studies on two publicly real-world PLM datasets with 1,569,491 and 413,357 known entries and missing rates of 93.35% and 96.75% demonstrate that the proposed LNTF improves 14.04%, 59.31%, and 71.43% on average over the state-of-the-art imputation models in terms of imputation error, convergence rounds, and time cos, respectively.
