3D anomaly detection plays a crucial role in monitoring parts for localized inherent defects in precision manufacturing. Embedding-based and reconstruction-based approaches are among the most popular and successful methods. However, there are two major challenges to the practical application of the current approaches: 1) the embedded models suffer the prohibitive computational and storage due to the memory bank structure; 2) the reconstructive models based on the MAE mechanism fail to detect anomalies in the unmasked regions. In this paper, we propose R3D-AD, reconstructing anomalous point clouds by diffusion model for precise 3D anomaly detection. Our approach capitalizes on the data distribution conversion of the diffusion process to entirely obscure the input's anomalous geometry. It step-wisely learns a strict point-level displacement behavior, which methodically corrects the aberrant points. To increase the generalization of the model, we further present a novel 3D anomaly simulation strategy named Patch-Gen to generate realistic and diverse defect shapes, which narrows the domain gap between training and testing. Our R3D-AD ensures a uniform spatial transformation, which allows straightforwardly generating anomaly results by distance comparison. Collection of genotype data in case-control genetic association studies may often be incomplete for reasons related to genes themselves. This non-ignorable missingness structure, if not appropriately accounted for, can result in participation bias in association analyses. To deal with this issue, Chen et al. (2016) proposed to collect additional genetic information from family members of individuals whose genotype data were not available, and developed a maximum likelihood method for bias correction. In this study, we develop an estimating equation approach to analyzing data collected from this design that allows adjustment of covariates. It jointly estimates odds ratio parameters for genetic association and missingness, where a logistic regression model is used to relate missingness to genotype and other covariates. Our method allows correlation between genotype and covariates while using genetic information from family members to provide information on the missing genotype data. In the estimating equation for genetic association parameters, we weight the contribution of each genotyped subject to the empirical likelihood score function by the inverse probability that the genotype data are available. We evaluate large and finite sample performance of our method via simulation studies and apply it to a family-based case-control study of breast cancer.

DIffuse X-ray Explorer (DIXE) is a proposed high-resolution X-ray spectroscopic sky surveyor on the China Space Station (CSS). DIXE will focus on studying hot baryons in the Milky Way. Galactic hot baryons like the X-ray emitting Milky Way halo and eROSITA bubbles are best observed in the sky survey mode with a large field of view. DIXE will take advantage of the orbital motion of the CSS to scan a large fraction of the sky. High-resolution X-ray spectroscopy, enabled by superconducting microcalorimeters based on the transition-edge sensor (TES) technology, will probe the physical properties (e.g., temperature, density, elemental abundances, kinematics) of the Galactic hot baryons. This will complement the high-resolution imaging data obtained with the eROSITA mission. Here we present the preliminary design of DIXE. The payload consists mainly of a detector assembly and a cryogenic cooling system. The key components of the detector assembly are a microcalorimeter array and frequency-domain multiplexing readout electronics. Exchange bias (EB) is a cornerstone of modern magnetic memory and sensing technologies. Its extension to the realm of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) magnets holds promise for revolutionary advancements in miniaturized and efficient atomic spintronic devices. However, the blocking temperature of EB in 2D vdW magnets is currently well below room temperature ~130 K. This study reports a robust EB phenomenon in Fe3GaTe2 thin-layer devices, which significantly increases the blocking temperature to a near-room-temperature record of 280 K. Both the bias direction and magnitude can be isothermally tuned by adjusting the field sweep range, in striking contrast to the conventional EB in ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic (FM/AFM) bilayers. We propose an exchange spring model in which crystal defects with higher coercivity act as the pivotal pinning source for the observed EB phenomenon, deviating from the conventional FM/AFM interface mechanism. Cumulative growth of minor loops and multiple magnetization reversal paths are observed in field cycles below the saturation field, consistent with the hard FM defects behavior of our exchange spring model. These findings provide insights into the complex magnetic order in 2D ferromagnets and open new avenues for developing practical ultrathin vdW spintronic devices with EB-like properties at room temperature., Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures

Multi-Object Tracking MOT encompasses various tracking scenarios, each characterized by unique traits. Effective trackers should demonstrate a high degree of generalizability across diverse scenarios. However, existing trackers struggle to accommodate all aspects or necessitate hypothesis and experimentation to customize the association information motion and or appearance for a given scenario, leading to narrowly tailored solutions with limited generalizability. In this paper, we investigate the factors that influence trackers generalization to different scenarios and concretize them into a set of tracking scenario attributes to guide the design of more generalizable trackers. Furthermore, we propose a point-wise to instance-wise relation framework for MOT, i.e., GeneralTrack, which can generalize across diverse scenarios while eliminating the need to balance motion and appearance. Temporal sentence grounding is a challenging task that aims to localize the moment spans relevant to a language description. Although recent DETR-based models have achieved notable progress by leveraging multiple learnable moment queries, they suffer from overlapped and redundant proposals, leading to inaccurate predictions. We attribute this limitation to the lack of task-related guidance for the learnable queries to serve a specific mode. Furthermore, the complex solution space generated by variable and open-vocabulary language descriptions exacerbates the optimization difficulty, making it harder for learnable queries to distinguish each other adaptively. To tackle this limitation, we present a Region-Guided TRansformer (RGTR) for temporal sentence grounding, which diversifies moment queries to eliminate overlapped and redundant predictions. Instead of using learnable queries, RGTR adopts a set of anchor pairs as moment queries to introduce explicit regional guidance. Each anchor pair takes charge of moment prediction for a specific temporal region, which reduces the optimization difficulty and ensures the diversity of the final predictions. In addition, we design an IoU-aware scoring head to improve proposal quality. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of RGTR, outperforming state-of-the-art methods on QVHighlights, Charades-STA and TACoS datasets.

Soft sensing is a way to indirectly obtain information of signals for which direct sensing is difficult or prohibitively expensive. It may not a priori be evident which sensors provide useful information about the target signal. There may be sensors irrelevant for the estimation as well as sensors for which the information is very poor. It is often required that the soft sensor should cover a wide range of operating points. This means that some sensors may be useful in certain operating conditions while irrelevant in others, while others may have no bearing on the target signal whatsoever. However, this type of structural information is typically not available but has to be deduced from data. A further compounding issue is that multiple operating conditions may be described by the same model, but which ones is not known in advance either. In this contribution, we provide a systematic method to construct a soft sensor that can deal with these issues. While the different models can be used, we adopt the multi-input single output finite impulse response models since they are linear in the parameters. We propose a single estimation criterion, where the objectives are encoded in terms of model fit, model sparsity (reducing the number of different models), and model parameter coefficient sparsity (to exclude irrelevant sensors). A post-processing model clustering step is also included. As proof of concept, the method is tested on field test datasets from a prototype vehicle.

With the wide application of knowledge distillation between an ImageNet pre-trained teacher model and a learnable student model, industrial anomaly detection has witnessed a significant achievement in the past few years. The success of knowledge distillation mainly relies on how to keep the feature discrepancy between the teacher and student model, in which it assumes that: (1) the teacher model can jointly represent two different distributions for the normal and abnormal patterns, while (2) the student model can only reconstruct the normal distribution. However, it still remains a challenging issue to maintain these ideal assumptions in practice. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective two-stage industrial anomaly detection framework, termed as AAND, which sequentially performs Anomaly Amplification and Normality Distillation to obtain robust feature discrepancy. In the first anomaly amplification stage, we propose a novel Residual Anomaly Amplification (RAA) module to advance the pre-trained teacher encoder. With the exposure of synthetic anomalies, it amplifies anomalies via residual generation while maintaining the integrity of pre-trained model. It mainly comprises a Matching-guided Residual Gate and an Attribute-scaling Residual Generator, which can determine the residuals' proportion and characteristic, respectively. In the second normality distillation stage, we further employ a reverse distillation paradigm to train a student decoder, in which a novel Hard Knowledge Distillation (HKD) loss is built to better facilitate the reconstruction of normal patterns. The interaction of atomic orbitals at the interface of perovskite oxide heterostructures has been investigated for its profound impact on the band structures and electronic properties, giving rise to unique electronic states and a variety of tunable functionalities. In this study, we conducted an extensive investigation of the optical and electronic properties of epitaxial NdNiO3 thin films grown on a series of single crystal substrates. Unlike films synthesized on other substrates, NdNiO3 on SrTiO3 (NNO/STO) gives rise to a unique band structure which features an additional unoccupied band situated above the Fermi level. Our comprehensive investigation, which incorporated a wide array of experimental techniques and density functional theory calculations, revealed that the emergence of the interfacial band structure is primarily driven by the orbital hybridization between Ti 3d orbitals of the STO substrate and O 2p orbitals of the NNO thin film. Furthermore, exciton peaks have been detected in the optical spectra of the NNO/STO film, attributable to the pronounced electron-electron (e-e) and electron-hole (e-h) interactions propagating from the STO substrate into the NNO film. The formation of plasmons through the collective excitation of charge density has generated intense discussions, offering insights to fundamental sciences and potential applications. While the underlying physical principles have been well-established, the effects of many-body interactions and orbital hybridization on plasmonic dynamics remain understudied. In this work, we present the observation of conventional metallic and correlated plasmons in epitaxial La1-xSrxNiO3 (LSNO) films with varying Sr doping concentrations (x = 0, 0.125, 0.25), unveiling their intriguing evolution. Unlike samples at other doping concentrations, the x = 0.125 intermediate doping sample does not exhibit the correlated plasmons despite showing high optical conductivity. Through a comprehensive experimental investigation using spectroscopic ellipsometry and X-ray absorption spectroscopy, the O2p-Ni3d orbital hybridization for LSNO with a doping concentration of x = 0.125 is found to be significantly enhanced, alongside a considerable weakening of its effective correlation U*. These factors account for the absence of correlated plasmons and the high optical conductivity observed in LSNO (0.125). Our results underscore the profound impact of orbital hybridization on the electronic structure and the formation of plasmon in strongly-correlated systems. This in turn suggest that LSNO could serve as a promising alternative material in optoelectronic devices.

Semi-supervised action recognition aims to improve spatio-temporal reasoning ability with a few labeled data in conjunction with a large amount of unlabeled data. Albeit recent advancements, existing powerful methods are still prone to making ambiguous predictions under scarce labeled data, embodied as the limitation of distinguishing different actions with similar spatio-temporal information. In this paper, we approach this problem by empowering the model two aspects of capability, namely discriminative spatial modeling and temporal structure modeling for learning discriminative spatio-temporal representations. Specifically, we propose an Adaptive Contrastive Learning~(ACL) strategy. It assesses the confidence of all unlabeled samples by the class prototypes of the labeled data, and adaptively selects positive-negative samples from a pseudo-labeled sample bank to construct contrastive learning. Additionally, we introduce a Multi-scale Temporal Learning~(MTL) strategy. It could highlight informative semantics from long-term clips and integrate them into the short-term clip while suppressing noisy information. Afterwards, both of these two new techniques are integrated in a unified framework to encourage the model to make accurate predictions. Noisy label learning aims to learn robust networks under the supervision of noisy labels, which plays a critical role in deep learning. Existing work either conducts sample selection or label correction to deal with noisy labels during the model training process. In this paper, we design a simple yet effective sample selection framework, termed Two-Stream Sample Distillation (TSSD), for noisy label learning, which can extract more high-quality samples with clean labels to improve the robustness of network training. Firstly, a novel Parallel Sample Division (PSD) module is designed to generate a certain training set with sufficient reliable positive and negative samples by jointly considering the sample structure in feature space and the human prior in loss space. Secondly, a novel Meta Sample Purification (MSP) module is further designed to mine adequate semi-hard samples from the remaining uncertain training set by learning a strong meta classifier with extra golden data. As a result, more and more high-quality samples will be distilled from the noisy training set to train networks robustly in every iteration. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets, including CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, Tiny-ImageNet, and Clothing-1M, show that our method has achieved state-of-the-art results over its competitors.

Interlayer magnetic interactions play a pivotal role in determining the magnetic arrangement within van der Waals (vdW) magnets, and the remarkable tunability of these interactions through applied pressure further enhances their significance. Here, we investigate NiI2 flakes, a representative vdW magnet, under hydrostatic pressures up to 11 GPa. We reveal a notable increase in magnetic transition temperatures for both helimagnetic and antiferromagnetic states, and find that a reversible transition from helimagnetic to antiferromagnetic (AFM) phases at approximately 7 GPa challenges established theoretical and experimental expectations. While the increase in transition temperature aligns with pressure-enhanced overall exchange interaction strengths, we identify the significant role of the second-nearest neighbor interlayer interaction, which competes with intra-layer frustration and favors the AFM state as demonstrated in the Monte Carlo simulations. Experimental and simulated results converge on the existence of an intermediate helimagnetic ordered state in NiI2 before transitioning to the AFM state. These findings underscore the pivotal role of interlayer interactions in shaping the magnetic ground state, providing fresh perspectives for innovative applications in nanoscale magnetic device design.

The crux of semi-supervised temporal action localization (SS-TAL) lies in excavating valuable information from abundant unlabeled videos. However, current approaches predominantly focus on building models that are robust to the error-prone target class (i.e, the predicted class with the highest confidence) while ignoring informative semantics within non-target classes. This paper approaches SS-TAL from a novel perspective by advocating for learning from non-target classes, transcending the conventional focus solely on the target class. The proposed approach involves partitioning the label space of the predicted class distribution into distinct subspaces: target class, positive classes, negative classes, and ambiguous classes, aiming to mine both positive and negative semantics that are absent in the target class, while excluding ambiguous classes. To this end, we first devise innovative strategies to adaptively select high-quality positive and negative classes from the label space, by modeling both the confidence and rank of a class in relation to those of the target class. Then, we introduce novel positive and negative losses designed to guide the learning process, pushing predictions closer to positive classes and away from negative classes. Finally, the positive and negative processes are integrated into a hybrid positive-negative learning framework, facilitating the utilization of non-target classes in both labeled and unlabeled videos. Experimental results on THUMOS14 and ActivityNet v1.3 demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over prior state-of-the-art approaches.

Pedestrian trajectory prediction is a crucial component in computer vision and robotics, but remains challenging due to the domain shift problem. Previous studies have tried to tackle this problem by leveraging a portion of the trajectory data from the target domain to adapt the model. However, such domain adaptation methods are impractical in real-world scenarios, as it is infeasible to collect trajectory data from all potential target domains. In this paper, we study a task named generalized pedestrian trajectory prediction, with the aim of generalizing the model to unseen domains without accessing their trajectories. To tackle this task, we introduce a Recurrent Aligned Network~(RAN) to minimize the domain gap through domain alignment. Specifically, we devise a recurrent alignment module to effectively align the trajectory feature spaces at both time-state and time-sequence levels by the recurrent alignment strategy.Furthermore, we introduce a pre-aligned representation module to combine social interactions with the recurrent alignment strategy, which aims to consider social interactions during the alignment process instead of just target trajectories. We extensively evaluate our method and compare it with state-of-the-art methods on three widely used benchmarks. The experimental results demonstrate the superior generalization capability of our method. Our work not only fills the gap in the generalization setting for practical pedestrian trajectory prediction but also sets strong baselines in this field.

In this work, we delve into the dynamic traits of the relative entropy of quantum coherence (REQC) as the quantum system interacts with the different noisy channels, drawing comparisons with entanglement (concurrence). The research results demonstrate the broader prevalence and stronger robustness of the REQC as opposed to concurrence. It's worth noting that the bit flip channel cannot uphold a constant nonzero frozen the REQC, besides, the concurrence follows a pattern of temporary reduction to zero, followed by recovery after a certain time span. Continuum of spin excitations observed in inelastic neutron scattering experiments are often considered as a strong evidence of quantum spin liquid formation. When quantum spin liquid is indeed the ground state of a disorder-free magnetic compound, the elementary excitation is no longer the conventional spin waves (magnons). Instead, the magnons fractionalize into spinons, leaving only a two-spinon continuum detectable in inelastic neutron scattering experiments. For a clean ordered antiferromagnet, it was unclear if we can observe a continuous spectrum similar to the ones in a quantum spin liquid state. Here we show that the magnetically ordered state in Na$_2$BaCo(PO$_4$)$_2$ is able to host a spin excitation continuum induced by strong quantum fluctuations. This paper introduces a new stochastic hybrid system (SHS) framework for contingency detection in modern power systems (MPS). The framework uses stochastic hybrid system representations in state space models to expand and facilitate capability of contingency detection. In typical microgrids (MGs), buses may contain various synchronous generators, renewable generators, controllable loads, battery systems, regular loads, etc. For development of SHS models in power systems, this paper introduces the concept of dynamic and non-dynamic buses. By converting a physical power grid into a virtual linearized state space model and representing contingencies as random switching of system structures and parameters, this paper formulates the contingency detection problem as a joint estimation problem of discrete event and continuous states in stochastic hybrid systems. This method offers unique advantages, including using common measurement signals on voltage and current synchrophasors to detect different types and locations of contingencies, avoiding expensive local direct fault measurements and detecting certain contingencies that cannot be directly measured. The method employs a small and suitably-designed probing signal to sustain the ability of persistent contingency detection. Joint estimation algorithms are presented with their proven convergence and reliability properties. Examples that use an IEEE 5-bus system demonstrate the main ideas and derivation steps. This paper introduces a stochastic hybrid system (SHS) framework in state space model to capture sensor, communication, and system contingencies in modern power systems (MPS). Within this new framework, the paper concentrates on the development of state estimation methods and algorithms to provide reliable state estimation under randomly intermittent and noisy sensor data. MPSs employ diversified measurement devices for monitoring system operations that are subject to random measurement errors and rely on communication networks to transmit data whose channels encounter random packet loss and interruptions. The contingency and noise form two distinct and interacting stochastic processes that have a significant impact on state estimation accuracy and reliability. This paper formulates stochastic hybrid system models for MPSs, introduces coordinated observer design algorithms for state estimation, and establishes their convergence and reliability properties. A further study reveals a fundamental design tradeoff between convergence rates and steady-state error variances. The complex interplay of spin frustration and quantum fluctuations in low-dimensional quantum materials leads to a variety of intriguing phenomena. This research focuses on a detailed analysis of the magnetic behavior exhibited by NdZnPO, a bilayer spin-1/2 triangular lattice antiferromagnet. The investigation employs magnetization, specific heat, and powder neutron scattering measurements. At zero field, a long-range magnetic order is observed at $T_{\rm N}=1.64~\rm K$. Powder neutron diffraction experiments show the Ising-like magnetic moments along the $c$-axis, revealing a stripe-like magnetic structure with three equivalent magnetic propagation vectors. Application of a magnetic field along the $c$-axis suppresses the antiferromagnetic order, leading to a fully polarized ferromagnetic state above $B_{\rm c}=4.5~\rm T$. This transition is accompanied by notable enhancements in the nuclear Schottky contribution. Moreover, the absence of spin frustration and expected field-induced plateau-like phases are remarkable observations. Detailed calculations of magnetic dipolar interactions revealed complex couplings reminiscent of a honeycomb lattice, suggesting the potential emergence of Kitaev-like physics within this system. The exchange bias (EB) effect, pivotal in magnetic data storage and sensing devices, has been observed not only in interfacial regions but also in intrinsic ferromagnetic materials. Here, we've uncovered a robust and stable exchange bias effect within the layered van der Waals (vdW) ferromagnet VI3 employing magnetic circular dichroism microscopy. At 10 K, we observed a significant exchange field of approximately 0.1 T, accompanied by random shifts (positive or negative relative to zero magnetic field) after zero-field cooling. Notably, this effect is effectively controllable after field cooling, with shift direction opposing the applied magnetic field. The presence of strong magnetic anisotropic energy within VI3 results in larger coercivity-bound magnetic domains. These domains dictate the neighboring ferromagnetic alignment and induce shifts in the hysteresis loop. Our study not only contributes to comprehending fundamental nanoscale magnetic interactions but also sheds light on emergent phenomena within layered van der Waals magnets.

Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) remains a vital component of intelligent video analysis, which aims to locate targets and maintain a consistent identity for each target throughout a video sequence. Existing works usually learn a discriminative feature representation, such as motion and appearance, to associate the detections across frames, which are easily affected by mutual occlusion and background clutter in practice. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective two-stage feature learning paradigm to jointly learn single-shot and multi-shot features for different targets, so as to achieve robust data association in the tracking process. For the detections without being associated, we design a novel single-shot feature learning module to extract discriminative features of each detection, which can efficiently associate targets between adjacent frames. For the tracklets being lost several frames, we design a novel multi-shot feature learning module to extract discriminative features of each tracklet, which can accurately refind these lost targets after a long period. Once equipped with a simple data association logic, the resulting VisualTracker can perform robust MOT based on the single-shot and multi-shot feature representations. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our method has achieved significant improvements on MOT17 and MOT20 datasets while reaching state-of-the-art performance on DanceTrack dataset.

We present a method for the unsupervised segmentation of electron microscopy images, which are powerful descriptors of materials and chemical systems. Images are oversegmented into overlapping chips, and similarity graphs are generated from embeddings extracted from a domain$\unicode{x2010}$pretrained convolutional neural network (CNN). The Louvain method for community detection is then applied to perform segmentation. The graph representation provides an intuitive way of presenting the relationship between chips and communities. We demonstrate our method to track irradiation$\unicode{x2010}$induced amorphous fronts in thin films used for catalysis and electronics. Fine-tuning a pre-trained deep neural network has become a successful paradigm in various machine learning tasks. However, such a paradigm becomes particularly challenging with tabular data when there are discrepancies between the feature sets of pre-trained models and the target tasks. In this paper, we propose TabToken, a method aims at enhancing the quality of feature tokens (i.e., embeddings of tabular features). TabToken allows for the utilization of pre-trained models when the upstream and downstream tasks share overlapping features, facilitating model fine-tuning even with limited training examples. Specifically, we introduce a contrastive objective that regularizes the tokens, capturing the semantics within and across features. During the pre-training stage, the tokens are learned jointly with top-layer deep models such as transformer. In the downstream task, tokens of the shared features are kept fixed while TabToken efficiently fine-tunes the remaining parts of the model. TabToken not only enables knowledge transfer from a pre-trained model to tasks with heterogeneous features, but also enhances the discriminative ability of deep tabular models in standard classification and regression tasks.

Deep-tissue chemical imaging plays a vital role in biological and medical applications. Here, we present a shortwave infrared photothermal (SWIP) microscope for millimeter-deep vibrational imaging with sub-micron lateral resolution and nanoparticle detection sensitivity. By pumping the overtone transition of carbon-hydrogen bonds and probing the subsequent photothermal lens with shortwave infrared light, SWIP can obtain chemical contrast from microparticles located millimeter-deep in a highly scattering phantom. By fast digitization on the optically probed signal, the amplitude of photothermal signal is shown to be 63 times larger than that of photoacoustic signal, thus enabling highly sensitive detection of nanoscale objects. SWIP can resolve the intracellular lipids across an intact tumor spheroid and the layered structure in millimeter-thick liver, skin, brain, and breast tissues. Together, SWIP microscopy fills a gap in vibrational imaging with sub-cellular resolution and millimeter-level penetration, which heralds broad potential for life science and clinical applications., Comment: 26 pages, 10 figures

Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) are one of the most important infrastructures in the world of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and are generally considered more reliable than centralized exchanges (CEXs). However, some well-known decentralized exchanges (e.g., Uniswap) allow the deployment of any unaudited ERC20 tokens, resulting in the creation of numerous honeypot traps designed to steal traders' assets: traders can exchange valuable assets (e.g., ETH) for fraudulent tokens in liquidity pools but are unable to exchange them back for the original assets. In this paper, we introduce honeypot traps on decentralized exchanges and provide a taxonomy for these traps according to the attack effect. For different types of traps, we design a detection scheme based on historical data analysis and transaction simulation. We randomly select 10,000 pools from Uniswap V2 \& V3, and then utilize our method to check these pools.Finally, we discover 8,443 abnormal pools, which shows that honeypot traps may exist widely in exchanges like Uniswap. Furthermore, we discuss possible mitigation and defense strategies to protect traders' assets.

In our study, we conduct magnetization and heat capacity measurements to investigate field induced magnetic phase transitions within the newly synthesized compound K2Ni2(SeO3)3, a spin-1 dimer system arranged on a triangular lattice. From our first-principles simulations, we determine that the spin system in K2Ni2(SeO3)3 can be represented as a two-dimensional triangular-lattice spin-1 dimer model, including an intra-dimer exchange of J1 = 0.32 meV, an inter-dimer exchange of J2 = 0.79 meV, and an easy-axis anisotropy of D = 0.14 meV. The presence of easy-axis magnetic anisotropy explains the distinct magnetic phase diagrams observed under c-axis directional and in-plane magnetic fields. Notably, our investigation unveils a two-step phase transition with the magnetic field aligned with the c direction. In quantum many-body systems, particularly, the ones with large near-EF density states, like flat bands or van Hove singularity (VHS), electron correlations often give rise to rich phase diagrams with multiple coexisting/competing orders occurring at similar energy scales. The recently discovered locally noncentrosymmetric heavy fermion superconductor CeRh2As2 has stimulated extensive attention due to its unusual H-T phase diagram, consisting of two-phase superconductivity, antiferromagnetic order, and possible quadrupole-density wave orders. However, despite its great importance, the near-EF electronic structure remains experimentally elusive. Here, we provide this key information by combining soft X-ray and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements and atom-resolved DFT+U calculations. With bulk-sensitive soft X-rays, we reveal quasi-2D hole- and 3D electron- pockets with a pronounced nesting feature. Most importantly, we observe a symmetry-protected fourfold VHS coexisting with the Ce 4f flat bands near the EF, which, to the best of our knowledge, has never been reported before. Such a rare coexistence is expected to lead to a large density of states at the zone edge, enhancement in electron correlations, and a large upper critical field of the odd-parity superconducting phase. Uniquely, it will also result in a new type of f-VHS hybridization that alters the order and fine electronic structure of the symmetry-protected VHS and flat bands. These peculiarities offer important dimensions for understanding the reported rich phase diagram and are discussed as an origin of superconductivity with two phases.
