Assessing the performance of General Circulation Models (GCMs) in simulating historical regional precipitation is essential for climate assessments. This study analysed 18 GCMs from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) and 27 GCMs from Phase 6 (CMIP6) for the Florida Peninsula. Naïve combinations formed the CMIP5‐Ensemble and CMIP6‐Ensemble. The reference dataset consisted of global gridded precipitation data from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. GCM‐simulated precipitation data were compared to the reference dataset across multiple time scales between 1951 and 2005. Most CMIP5 and CMIP6 GCMs exhibited a negative bias at the daily time scale, with an absolute value ranging between 0 and 2 mm day−1 at the median level, except for INM‐CM4 and MRI‐CGCM3 (CMIP5) and CNRM‐ESM2‐1 (CMIP6). Two performance metrics, that is, Pearson correlation and mean absolute error (MAE), were used to evaluate the GCMs. A correlation value above 0.3 is statistically significant at the significance level (α = 0.05). For the Pearson correlation between simulated and observed monthly precipitation, only 15% of CMIP5 GCMs (3 out of 19) had a median value above 0.3, whilst this increased to approximately 39% (11 out of 28) for CMIP6 GCMs. For monthly climatological precipitation, only 21% (4 out of 21) of GCMs in CMIP5 showed a correlation with a median value of 0.8 or higher. This percentage rose to 50% (14 out of 28) for CMIP6. A notable difference was observed in the MAE between CMIP5 and CMIP6 climate models. Lastly, GCM raw outputs were evaluated based on rainy season characteristics (onset, demise and duration). Significant improvements from the CMIP5 to the CMIP6 models were observed in capturing the rainy season in the Florida Peninsula. This study thoroughly compares CMIP5 and CMIP6 climate models in simulating historical precipitation at various time scales for the study region. Activated carbon fibers, known for their unique physical and chemical properties, are increasingly utilized in diverse industries, including textiles and fabrics, and can serve as ideal supports of heterogeneous palladium catalysts. An efficient strategy for the preparation of 2-(trifluoromethyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-ones via a three-component carbonylative reaction of trifluoroacetimidoyl chlorides and amines using a heterogeneous activated carbon fiber-supported palladium catalyst has been developed. In contrast to the homogeneous catalytic protocol reported previously, the higher efficiency of the heterogeneous reaction is observed and the Pd/ACFs catalyst could be recycled five times with good stability and slightly decreased catalytic reactivity. Herein, we investigate the product type and distribution during the synthesis of azido-functionalized larger polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSSs) using 3-chloropropyl- and chloromethyldimethylsilylethyl-functionalized T8, T10, and T12 POSSs as precursors. Our findings indicate that cage rearrangement occurs for the 3-chloropropyl-functionalized POSS cages with a stability order of T12 > T10 > T8, while the chloromethyldimethylsilylethyl-functionalized POSS cages remain structurally intact after the nucleophilic substitution. As a promising anode material for Na‐metal batteries, the practical application of Na metal is severely hindered due to the formation of the notorious dendrite and unstable solid‐electrolyte interface (SEI). To address these issues, a direct‐ink writing (DIW) 3D printing technology is proposed to construct an artificial 3D hierarchical porous sodiophilic Nb2CTx/reduced graphene‐oxide (Nb2CTx/rGO) aerogel monolith, which is employed as the matrix of Na metal anode. Benefiting from the homogeneous ion flux and exceptional sodiophilic features, the Nb2CTx nanoflakes embedded within the 3D scaffold regulate the uniform deposition of metallic Na with a stable SEI layer, achieving an ultralong cycle lifespan of 3000 h at 1 mA cm−2 with 1 mAh cm−2 and an impressive Coulombic efficiency of 99.68% over extended lifespan of 7064 h. Further, the in‐depth characterization analysis proves that the formed stable SEI layer consists of an inorganic NaF accumulated in the inner layer and loosely‐bound organic species in the outer layer. Remarkably, when integrated into a Na metal full cell, the reversible capacity reaches 90.22 mAh g−1 after 200 cycles at 100 mA g−1. Selecting suitable electrode materials for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) often relies on the experience gained from lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs), particularly in terms of thermodynamics. However, this approach may fall into a stagnant situation where the development of SIBs consistently lags behind that of LIBs due to the larger ionic radius of Na+. Accordingly, it is crucial to establish a dedicated selection rule specifically tailored for SIB electrodes to overcome this challenge. Herein, a screening method is proposed for SIB materials, where an ideal candidate shall form a stable intermediate transition phase with Na+. This phase acts as an important bridge that can regulate the insertion/extraction of charge carriers. Atomically resolved transmission electron microscopy demonstrates that KCu7S4 can react with Na+ to form a stable intermediate phase (Na3Cu4S4). Na3Cu4S4 can undergo reversible conversion reactions, contribute capacity, stabilize the tunnel structure and enhance the migration/diffusion of Na+. In contrast, Li+ can't form a stable intermediate phase in KCu7S4 during lithiation/delithiation, thus losing the ability to effectively regulate Li+ insertion/extraction. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of suitable electrode materials for SIBs, emphasizing the importance of stable intermediate phases in regulating charge carrier insertion/extraction and improving overall battery performance. The operating parameters of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) are critical to its performance and working life. This study presents a data-driven modeling approach combining a surrogate model with the particle swarm optimization algorithm to optimize operating parameters for PEMFC and obtain the maximum power density. The results show that the operating parameters significantly influence power density under high current densities, with inlet temperature having the most significant effect. Lower inlet temperature, relative humidity in the cathode and anode, along with higher operating pressure yield improved output performance. The Genetic Algorithm-Backpropagation Neural Network based surrogate model exhibits excellent predictive performance with correlation coefficients of 0.99896 and 0.99815 for the training and test sets, respectively. Optimized conditions achieve a 3.3% increase in power density compared to initial settings, with only a 0.15% error in simulation calculations. Alkaline earth (AE) metal complexes have garnered significant interest in various functional fields due to their nontoxicity, low density, and low cost. However, there is a lack of systematic investigation into the structural characteristics and physical properties of AE‐metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs). In this research, we synthesized isostructural MOFs consisting of AE4(μ4‐Cl) clusters bridged by benzo‐(1,2;3,4;5,6)‐tris(thiophene‐2′‐carboxylic acid) (BTTC3−) ligands. The resulting structure forms a truncated octahedral cage denoted as [AE4(m4‐Cl)]6(BTTC)8, which further linked to a porous three‐dimensional framework. Among the investigated AE ions (Ca, Sr, and Ba), the Ca4‐MOF demonstrated good chemical stability in water compared to Sr4‐MOF and Ba4‐MOF. The N2 adsorption and solid‐state UV‐vis‐NIR absorption behaviors were evaluated for all AE4‐MOFs, showing similar trends among the different metal ions. Additionally, the proton conduction study revealed that the Ca4‐MOF exhibited ultra‐high proton conductivity, reaching 3.52×10−2 S cm−1 at 343 K and 98 % RH. Notably, the introduction of LiCl via guest exchange resulted in an improved proton conduction of up to 6.36×10−2 S cm−1 under similar conditions in the modified LiCl@Ca4‐MOF. The findings shed light on the regulation of physical properties and proton conductivity of AE‐MOFs, providing valuable insights for their potential applications in various fields. In this paper, a novel decentralized adaptive state‐feedback design method is proposed for large‐scale stochastic nonlinear systems. Different from the existing results, we consider more practical and more general systems, that is, systems with both unknown covariance and time‐varying powers. When dealing with the unknown time‐varying covariance, we do not need to know its bound, but use the estimator to design an adaptive law function. Then, a new adaptive controller is constructed with the backstepping method to ensure that the closed‐loop system is globally stable in probability, and that the states are regulated to the origin almost surely. Drawing from conservation of resources theory, this research examines how and when mentors’ family – work conflict is related to protégés’ work outcomes (i.e. job performance and career satisfaction). We proposed mentors’ family – work conflict depleted their resources, thus had a negative influence on protégés’ work outcomes. Further, we addressed the mediating role of mentoring functions (i.e. career support, psychosocial support, and role modeling) and the moderating roles of mentors’ core self-evaluation and mentor – protégé relational quality. We tested the hypothesized moderated mediation model using time-lagged data from 162 mentor – protégé dyads in a large Chinese pharmacy chain company. The results demonstrated that (a) mentors’ family – work conflict was negatively associated with protégés’ work outcomes; (b) mentoring functions mediated this relationship; (c) mentors’ core self-evaluation and mentor – protégé relational quality moderated the main effect of mentors’ family – work conflict on mentoring functions and the indirect effect of mentors’ family – work conflict on protégés’ work outcomes via mentoring functions; and (d) the indirect effect was significant when mentors’ core self-evaluation or mentor – protégé relational quality was low. Insects are the host or vector of diverse viruses including those that infect vertebrates, plants, and fungi. Insect viruses reside inside their insect hosts and are vertically transmitted from parent to offspring. The insect virus–host relationship is intricate, as these viruses can impact various aspects of insect biology, such as development, reproduction, sex ratios, and immunity. Arthropod‐borne viruses (arboviruses) that cause substantial global health or agricultural problems can also be vertically transmitted to insect vector progeny. Multiple infections with insect viruses and arboviruses are common in nature. Such coinfections involve complex interactions, including synergism, dependence, and antagonism. Recent studies have shed light on the influence of insect viruses on the competence of insect vectors for arboviruses. In this review, we focus on the biological effects of insect viruses on the transmission of arboviruses by insects. We also discuss the potential mechanisms by which insect viruses affect the ability of hosts to transmit arboviruses, as well as potential strategies for disease control through manipulation of insect viruses. Analyses of the interactions among insect vectors, insect viruses and arboviruses will provide new opportunities for development of innovative strategies to control arbovirus transmission. With the energy structure transition and the development of the green power market, the role of electricity retailers in multi-market green power trading has become more and more important. Particularly in China, where aggressive green energy policies and rapid market transformations provide a distinct context for such studies, the challenges are pronounced. Under demand-side response, electricity retailers face the uncertainty of users' electricity consumption and incentives, which complicates decision-making processes. The purpose of this paper is to explore the optimization decision-making problem of multi-market green power trading for electricity retailers under demand-side response, with a special focus on the Chinese market due to its leadership in implementing substantial green energy initiatives and its potential to set precedents for global practices. We first construct a two-party benefit optimization model, which comprehensively considers the profit objectives for electricity retailers and utility maximization for users. Then, the model is solved by the Lagrange multiplier method and distributed subgradient algorithm to obtain the optimal solution. Finally, the effectiveness of the incentive optimization strategy under the multi-market to promote green power consumption and improve the profit of electricity retailers is verified by arithmetic simulation. The results of this study show that the incentive optimization strategy under multi-market, particularly within the Chinese context, is expected to provide a reference for electricity retailers to develop more flexible and effective trading strategies in the green power market and to contribute to the process of promoting green power consumption globally. Conflict in peer and family relationships becomes more common in the adolescent period when compared to previous developmental periods. These typical developmental challenges can be exacerbated in the context of poor emotion regulation skills. Using daily diary data, the current study examined the stress spillover effects of peer and family stress on one another, as well as the moderating role of emotion regulation challenges (i.e., emotional inhibition, dysregulation). A sample of 310 Chinese adolescents (Mage = 13.02 years, SD = 0.76 years, 50.7% boys) completed an initial measure of emotion regulation difficulties, then reported on peer and family stress for 10 consecutive weekdays. Results indicated that there was an overall same-day peer stress spillover effect in which adolescents' peer stress on a given day was negatively associated with later conflictual interactions with their parents. Further, the relation between peer stress and same- and next-day family stress was exacerbated in the context of high levels of emotional inhibition. Family stress did not significantly relate to next-day peer stress, nor was this association moderated by difficulties with emotion regulation. These results highlight the temporal sequence of daily peer-to-family stress spillover. Though emotional inhibition may be culturally adaptive for maintaining interpersonal harmony, it can be maladaptive in managing stress for Chinese adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to structural heterogeneity, the main function and structure of networked systems are significantly influenced by some important nodes rather than each member. In practical, the properties of important nodes could be different from network to network, and thus a variety of algorithms have been specially designed to identify important nodes of different networks and of different dynamics. In this paper we propose a widely applicable algorithm by employing the percolation model in statistical physics, which describes the behavior of connected clusters when nodes are connected randomly. This algorithm appropriately combines the local and global properties of a network, thus it stresses the significance of nodes that neither have a visibly local importance, such as degree and clustering, nor have a visibly global importance, such as betweenness. The effectiveness of our algorithm has been illustrated in a series of networks, including model networks with different degree distributions and different degree correlations, and empirical networks. As a shell decomposition process, the framework of our algorithm has extensive application prospects in analyzing network structure, such as community, core–periphery structure, and shell structures. The effect of CO2, a major component of the exhaust gas, on the elimination of NOx over FeW oxide catalyst was studied. It reveals that the presence of CO2 inhibits NOx conversion and N2 selectivity, which is due to the triple interactions of carbonate-Fe2O3–FeWO4. CO2 could be adsorbed to form carbonate species. The electron interactions between carbonate species and FeW oxides decrease the electron cloud density of Fe and W, leading to the increment of electrophilicity of metal species and thereby promoting the formation of nitrates. Meanwhile, a new reaction mechanism is proposed in which the NO2 species formed on the catalyst surface can react with the adsorbed NH3 or NH4+ by following the E–R mechanism. Autosomal recessive deafness 9, caused by mutations of the OTOF gene, is characterised by congenital or prelingual, severe-to-complete, bilateral hearing loss. However, no pharmacological treatment is currently available for congenital deafness. In this Article, we report the safety and efficacy of gene therapy with an adeno-associated virus (AAV) serotype 1 carrying a human OTOF transgene (AAV1-hOTOF) as a treatment for children with autosomal recessive deafness 9. This single-arm, single-centre trial enrolled children (aged 1–18 years) with severe-to-complete hearing loss and confirmed mutations in both alleles of OTOF , and without bilateral cochlear implants. A single injection of AAV1-hOTOF was administered into the cochlea through the round window. The primary endpoint was dose-limiting toxicity at 6 weeks after injection. Auditory function and speech were assessed by appropriate auditory perception evaluation tools. All analyses were done according to the intention-to-treat principle. This trial is registered with Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2200063181, and is ongoing. Between Oct 19, 2022, and June 9, 2023, we screened 425 participants for eligibility and enrolled six children for AAV1-hOTOF gene therapy (one received a dose of 9 × 1011 vector genomes [vg] and five received 1·5 × 1012 vg). All participants completed follow-up visits up to week 26. No dose-limiting toxicity or serious adverse events occurred. In total, 48 adverse events were observed; 46 (96%) were grade 1–2 and two (4%) were grade 3 (decreased neutrophil count in one participant). Five children had hearing recovery, shown by a 40–57 dB reduction in the average auditory brainstem response (ABR) thresholds at 0·5–4·0 kHz. In the participant who received the 9 × 1011 vg dose, the average ABR threshold was improved from greater than 95 dB at baseline to 68 dB at 4 weeks, 53 dB at 13 weeks, and 45 dB at 26 weeks. In those who received 1·5 × 1012 AAV1-hOTOF, the average ABR thresholds changed from greater than 95 dB at baseline to 48 dB, 38 dB, 40 dB, and 55 dB in four children with hearing recovery at 26 weeks. Luminescence metal–organic materials (MOMs) are widely used as probes for detection. However, most of such probes are based on fluorescence and work in either turn‐off or turn‐on mode. In contrast, long‐lived (>10 ms) probes (LLPs) with recovery response to analyte are quite rare. Herein “solvation complex” strategy is used to prepare two new afterglow complexes with multiple coordinated solvents, trans‐complex 1 with both delayed fluorescence (DF) and room temperature phosphorescence (RTP), and cis‐complex 2 with RTP. Remarkably, they can serve as selective and recovery LLPs for l‐Arginine detection, with limit of detection down to 1.0 × 10−7 M. In addition, heating/fumigation can induce reversible arousal/silence of their afterglow, while H2O/DMSO vapor fumigation causes reversible crystalline‐to‐crystalline transformation between them. Detailed mechanism studies reveal that the change in coordinated solvent, including loss/acquisition, exchange, or replacement, plays a key role in such afterglow multi‐stimuli‐responsive properties. This study aims to investigate the effects of different hydroxy-terminated silicones on the properties of polycarbonate-silicone copolymers (ICS-PC) by introducing flexible and hydrophobic silicone into isosorbide-based polycarbonate through melt transesterification- polycondensation method. Through compatibility and transesterification experiments, it is confirmed that the alcohol-hydroxyl polydimethylsiloxane (a-PDMS) has higher reactivity and silicone conversion than the phenol-hydroxyl polydimethylsiloxane (p-PDMS), but the conversion does not exceed 81%. Polyether-modified silicone (PEMS) exhibits better compatibility and higher reactivity, thus resulting in higher conversion that can reach 86%. Effects of the type and content of silicone on the glass transition temperature (Tg), optical transparency, saturated water absorption, and mechanical strength of ICS-PCs were also discussed. It is found that p-PDMS has higher Tg, hydrophobicity, and mechanical strength with similar silicone content, but the total transmittance does not exceed 60%. In contrast, the PEMS system exhibits better optical transparency due to its improved compatibility with the PC matrix, with a total transmittance of up to 73%, Tg exceeding 150 °C while maintaining excellent flexibility and hydrophobicity. [Display omitted] The rational design of efficient photocatalysts to achieve artificial nitrogen fixation is an urgent challenge. Herein, we combined donor–acceptor covalent organic framework with iron-doped nitrogen vacancy graphitized carbon nitride (D-A COF/Fe-g-C 3 N x) for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation. The photocatalyst exhibited good crystallinity, high porosity, and a large specific surface area. Without a sacrificial agent, the optimal 40 % D-A COF/Fe-g-C 3 N x exhibited an excellent rate of ammonia production (646 μmol h−1 g−1) at 420 nm, and durable stability after successive cycling. Exhaustive experimental research and theory calculations verified that the D-A unit and Fe doping redistributed the distribution of the charge, which enhanced the visible light utilization and provided chemisorption sites for further polarization. Besides N -vacancies can serve as electron-trapping active sites to promote the directional migration of carriers. The reaction mechanism demonstrated that superoxide radical and hydrogen peroxide were formed by electron and hole, respectively, which promote the reduction of nitrogen to ammonia. Stochastic population dynamics plays a crucial role in biological systems. The number and distribution of biological populations often affect the stability of ecosystems, and even lead to the transition of ecosystems from one steady-state to another. The transition between different states of a population has a significant impact on both population dynamics and biological evolution. In this paper, we examined a stochastic population model and used Onsager–Machlup action functional and neural shooting method to obtain the most probable transition pathway between different states. Moreover, we analyzed the influence of noise intensity, maximum harvest rate σ and time T on most probable transition pathway in two different parameter scenarios. Our research may provide a better understanding of evolutionary process such as genetic variation in populations and the evolution of species adaptation, meanwhile, may provide a theoretical guidance for species conservation and management in real world. Road traffic safety facilities (TSFs) are of significant importance in the management and maintenance of traffic safety. The complexity and variety of TSFs make it challenging to detect them manually, which renders the work unsustainable. To achieve the objective of automatic TSF detection, a target detection dataset, designated TSF-CQU (TSF data collected by Chongqing University), was constructed based on images collected by a car recorder. This dataset comprises six types of TSFs and 8410 instance samples. A detection transformer with an improved denoising anchor box (DINO) was selected to construct a model that would be suitable for this scenario. For comparison purposes, Faster R-CNN (Region Convolutional Neural Network) and Yolov7 (You Only Look Once version 7) were employed. The DINO model demonstrated the highest performance on the TSF-CQU dataset, with a mean average precision (mAP) of 82.2%. All of the average precision (AP) values exceeded 0.8, except for streetlights (AP = 0.77) and rods (AP = 0.648). The DINO model exhibits minimal instances of erroneous recognition, which substantiates the efficacy of the contrastive denoising training approach. Optimizing the energy structure to effectively enhance the integration level of renewable energy is an important pathway for achieving dual carbon goals. This study utilizes an improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm based on load fluctuation rates to optimize the architecture and unit capacity of hydrogen production systems. It investigates the optimal configuration methods for the architectural model of new energy hydrogen production systems in Xining City, Qinghai Province, as well as the internal storage battery, ALK hydrogen production equipment, and PEM hydrogen production equipment, aiming at various scenarios of power sources such as wind, solar, wind–solar complementary, and wind–solar–storage complementary, as well as intermittent hydrogen production scenarios such as hydrogen stations, hydrogen metallurgy, and continuous hydrogen production scenarios such as hydrogen methanol production. The results indicate that the fluctuation of hydrogen load scenarios has a significant impact on the installed capacity and initial investment of the system. Compared with the single-channel photovoltaic hydrogen production scheme, the dual-channel hydrogen production scheme still reduces equipment capacity by 6.04% and initial investment by 6.16% in the chemical hydrogen scenario with the least load fluctuation. Scrub typhus is an acute febrile disease due to Orientia tsutsugamushi (Ot) infection and can be life-threatening with organ failure, hemorrhage, and fatality. Yet, little is known as to how the host reacts to Ot bacteria at early stages of infection; no reports have addressed the functional roles of type I versus type II interferon (IFN) responses in scrub typhus. In this study, we used comprehensive intradermal (i.d.) inoculation models and two clinically predominant Ot strains (Karp and Gilliam) to uncover early immune events. Karp infection induced sequential expression of Ifnb and Ifng in inflamed skin and draining lymph nodes at days 1 and 3 post-infection. Using double Ifnar1-/-Ifngr1-/- and Stat1-/- mice, we found that deficiency in IFN/STAT1 signaling resulted in lethal infection with profound pathology and skin eschar lesions, which resembled to human scrub typhus. Further analyses demonstrated that deficiency in IFN-γ, but not IFN-I, resulted in impaired NK cell and macrophage activation and uncontrolled bacterial growth and dissemination, leading to metabolic dysregulation, excessive inflammatory cell infiltration, and exacerbated tissue damage. NK cells were found to be the major cellular source of innate IFN-γ, contributing to the initial Ot control in the draining lymph nodes. In vitro studies with dendritic cell cultures revealed a superior antibacterial effect offered by IFN-γ than IFN-β. Comparative in vivo studies with Karp- and Gilliam-infection revealed a crucial role of IFN-γ signaling in protection against progression of eschar lesions and Ot infection lethality. Additionally, our i.d. mouse models of lethal infection with eschar lesions are promising tools for immunological study and vaccine development for scrub typhus. Author summary: Scrub typhus can lead to severe complications and even fatality if not treated properly; however, the early host immune responses to Ot bacterium infection remain unclear. This study focused on the functional roles of IFNs in i.d. inoculation mouse models of scrub typhus. We found that mice lacking IFN receptors were highly susceptible to Ot infection, which resulted in severe pathology and skin eschar lesions that resembled to human scrub typhus. Further investigation revealed that the lack of IFN-γ, but not IFN-I, resulted in dysregulated innate immune responses, leading to uncontrolled bacterial burdens and tissue damage. Using IFN-γ reporter mice and neutralizing antibody treatment, we confirmed that NK cells were the major source of early IFN-γ, and thus contributed to the bacterial control in the draining lymph nodes. Moreover, our comparative studies with two Ot strains revealed bacterium strain- and dose-dependent eschar formation and disease severity. In conclusion, our study highlights the crucial role of IFN-γ signaling in ensuring host protection against Ot infection. Large number factorization is not only the most critical entry point for Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA) security analysis, but also the most direct means of attacking the asymmetric encryption algorithm RSA. In this paper, the factorization methods of large numbers are summarized and analysed: classical integer factoring algorithms, Shor's circuit model algorithm, quantum adiabatic methods (integer factorization based on a quantum nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) platform and D-Wave quantum annealing), and hybrid quantum-classical computing. Finally, the feasibility of integer factorization based on quantum adiabatics is discussed. In this paper, quantum annealing is regarded as a quantum attack method that is completely different from the famous Shor algorithm, and the potential of D-Wave factorization of large numbers to crack RSA cryptography is verified, which provides a new idea for a quantum attack on RSA public key cryptography. Bitter taste perception plays a critical role in deterring animals from consuming harmful and toxic substances. To characterize the evolution of primate Tas2r , test the generality of Tas2r duplication in Cercopithecidae species, and examine whether dietary preferences have shaped the Tas2r repertoire of primate species, we identified Tas2r in the genomes of 35 primate species, including 16 Cercopithecidae, 6 Hominidae, 4 Cebidae, 3 Lemuridae, and 6 other species. The results showed that the total number of primate Tas2r ranged from 27 to 51, concentrating on 2 to 4 scaffolds of each species. Closely related genes were tandemly duplicated in the same scaffold. Phylogenetic construction revealed that Tas2r can be divided into 21 clades, including anthropoid-, Strepsirrhini-, and Cercopithecidae-specific Tas2r duplications. Phylogenetically independent contrast analysis revealed that the number of intact Tas2r significantly correlated with feeding preferences. Altogether, our data support diet as a driver of primate Tas2r evolution, and Cercopithecidae species have developed some specific Tas2r duplication during evolution. These results are probably because most Cercopithecidae species feed on plants containing many toxins, and it is necessary to develop specialized Tas2r to protect them from poisoning. Protein sequence design can provide valuable insights into biopharmaceuticals and disease treatments. Currently, most protein sequence design methods based on deep learning focus on network architecture optimization, while ignoring protein-specific physicochemical features. Inspired by the successful application of structure templates and pre-trained models in the protein structure prediction, we explored whether the representation of structural sequence profile can be used for protein sequence design. In this work, we propose SPDesign, a method for protein sequence design based on structural sequence profile using ultrafast shape recognition. Given an input backbone structure, SPDesign utilizes ultrafast shape recognition vectors to accelerate the search for similar protein structures in our in-house PAcluster80 structure database and then extracts the sequence profile through structure alignment. Combined with structural pre-trained knowledge and geometric features, they are further fed into an enhanced graph neural network for sequence prediction. The results show that SPDesign significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, such as ProteinMPNN, Pifold and LM-Design, leading to 21.89%, 15.54% and 11.4% accuracy gains in sequence recovery rate on CATH 4.2 benchmark, respectively. Encouraging results also have been achieved on orphan and de novo (designed) benchmarks with few homologous sequences. Furthermore, analysis conducted by the PDBench tool suggests that SPDesign performs well in subdivided structures. More interestingly, we found that SPDesign can well reconstruct the sequences of some proteins that have similar structures but different sequences. The Three Gorges Reservoir Area (TGRA) is characterized by unique geological features that increase its susceptibility to landslides. These slopes are especially prone to destabilization when influenced by external triggers like rainfall. This research focuses on the Piansongshu landslide within the TGRA, aiming at unraveling the complex internal deformation mechanisms of landslides triggered by rainfall and providing critical insights for their prevention and mitigation. The study begins with on-site geological surveys to meticulously examine the macroscopic signs and mechanisms of deformation. It then utilizes the GeoStudio numerical simulation software to assess the landslide's stability, focusing on the changes in internal seepage fields and stability under various rainfall scenarios. Results indicate that continuous rainfall leads to the formation of a temporary saturation zone on the slope, which gradually deepens. In regions with more pronounced deformation, the infiltration line at the leading edge of accumulation notably protrudes towards the surface. Notably, the stability coefficient of the secondary shear surface of the landslide fluctuates more significantly than that of the primary sliding surface. Higher rainfall intensity and longer duration are positively correlated with a more pronounced decrease in stability coefficients. The impact on stability also varies across different rainfall patterns. As rainfall infiltrates over time, the slope's safety factor gradually decreases. This reduction continues even post-rainfall, indicating a delayed restoration period before stability returns to a safe level. Background: This study addresses the technical gap between clinical radiation therapy (RT) and preclinical small‐animal RT, hindering the comprehensive validation of innovative clinical RT approaches in small‐animal models of cancer and the translation of preclinical RT studies into clinical practices. Purpose: The main aim was to explore the feasibility of biologically guided RT implemented within a small‐animal radiation therapy (SART) platform, with integrated quad‐modal on‐board positron emission tomography (PET), single‐photon emission computed tomography, photon‐counting spectral CT, and cone‐beam CT (CBCT) imaging, in a Monte Carlo model as a proof‐of‐concept. Methods: We developed a SART workflow employing quad‐modal imaging guidance, integrating multimodal image‐guided RT and emission‐guided RT (EGRT). The EGRT algorithm was outlined using positron signals from a PET radiotracer, enabling near real‐time adjustments to radiation treatment beams for precise targeting in the presence of a 2‐mm setup error. Molecular image‐guided RT, incorporating a dose escalation/de‐escalation scheme, was demonstrated using a simulated phantom with a dose painting plan. The plan involved delivering a low dose to the CBCT‐delineated planning target volume (PTV) and a high dose boosted to the highly active biological target volume (hBTV) identified by the 18F‐PET image. Additionally, the Bayesian eigentissue decomposition method illustrated the quantitative decomposition of radiotherapy‐related parameters, specifically iodine uptake fraction and virtual noncontrast (VNC) electron density, using a simulated phantom with Kidney1 and Liver2 inserts mixed with an iodine contrast agent at electron fractions of 0.01–0.02. Results: EGRT simulations generated over 4,000 beamlet responses in dose slice deliveries and illustrated superior dose coverage and distribution with significantly lower doses delivered to normal tissues, even with a 2‐mm setup error introduced, demonstrating the robustness of the novel EGRT scheme compared to conventional image‐guided RT. In the dose‐painting plan, doubling the dose to the hBTV while maintaining a low dose for the PTV resulted in an organ‐at‐risk (OAR) dose comparable to the low‐dose treatment for the PTV alone. Furthermore, the decomposition of radiotherapy‐related parameters in Kidney1 and Liver2 inserts, including iodine uptake fractions and VNC electron densities, exhibited average relative errors of less than 1.0% and 2.5%, respectively. Conclusions: The results demonstrated the successful implementation of biologically guided RT within the proposed quad‐model image‐guided SART platform, with potential applications in preclinical RT and adaptive RT studies. Tendon injury is a common motor system disease, impairing joint mobility, and lowering quality of life. Once damaged, tendon has a limited capacity for regeneration. Clinically, available therapeutic strategies have not achieved satisfactory outcomes. Chiral biomaterials can effectively regulate cell behaviors and tissue healing, but have not been applied to injured tendon yet. Here, chiral arginine is attached to electrospun membrane to fabricate chiral scaffolds. L‐chiral scaffold, rather than D‐chiral or R‐chiral scaffold, promotes cell adhesion, proliferation, and tenogenic differentiation. The vinculin/FAK/YAP pathway is discovered to have a significant impact on the processes mentioned above. Additionally, L‐arginine efficiently eliminates reactive oxygen species (ROS) and generates nitric oxide (NO), safeguarding tendon stem/progenitor cells (TSPCs) against oxidative stress. The use of L‐chiral scaffold in a rat model of Achilles tendon injury increases the expression of markers related to tendons and the deposition of collagen. Moreover, L‐chiral scaffold improves tendon structural, functional, and mechanical properties. Parents confront multiple aspects of offspring demands and need to coordinate different parental care tasks. Biparental care is considered to evolve under circumstances where one parent is not competent for all tasks and cannot efficiently raise offspring. However, this hypothesis is difficult to test, as uniparental and biparental care rarely coexist. Chinese penduline tits (Remiz consobrinus) provide such a system where both parental care types occur. Here, we experimentally investigated whether parents in biparental nests are less capable of caring than parents in uniparental nests. We monitored parenting efforts at (1) naturally uniparental and biparental nests and (2) biparental nests before and during the temporary removal of a parent. Given the relatively small sample sizes, we have employed various statistical analyses confirming the robustness of our results. We found that total feeding frequency and brooding duration were similar for natural uniparental and biparental nests. Feeding frequency, but not brooding duration, contributed significantly to nestling mass. In line with this, a temporary parental removal revealed that the remaining parents at biparental nests fully compensated for the partner's feeding absence but not for brooding duration. This reflects that the manipulated parents are confronted with a trade‐off between feeding and brooding and were selected to invest in the more influential one. However, such a trade‐off may not occur in parents of natural uniparental care nests. The different capabilities of a parent independently coordinating feeding and brooding tasks suggest that parents from biparental and uniparental nests were exposed to different resource conditions, thereby foraging efficiency may differ between care types. Uranium extraction from seawater has attracted worldwide attention due to the massive reserves of uranium. Due to the straightforward synthesis and strong affinity toward uranyl ions (UO22+), the amidoxime group shows promise for use in highly efficient uranium capture. However, the low mass transfer efficiency within traditional amidoxime‐based adsorbents severely limits the adsorption rate and the utilization of adsorption sites. In this work, a macroporous polyamidoxime (PAO) hydrogel is prepared by yeast‐based biological foaming combined with ice crystal dispersion that effectively maintained the yeast activity. The yeast‐raised PAO (Y‐PAO) adsorbent has numerous bubble‐like holes with an average pore diameter >100 µm. These macropores connected with the intrinsic micropores of PAO to construct efficient diffusion channels for UO22+ provided fast mass transporting channels, leading to the sufficient exposure of hidden binding sites. The maximum adsorption capacity of Y‐PAO membrane reached 10.07 mg‐U/g‐ads, ≈1.54 times higher than that of the control sample. It took only eight days for Y‐PAO to reach the saturation adsorption capacity of the control PAO (6.47 mg‐U/g‐ads, 28 days). Meanwhile, Y‐PAO possessed excellent ion selectivity, good reusability, and low cost. The adoption of DNA-based assessments for biodiversity monitoring has been on the rise. However, the effectiveness of DNA-based taxonomic assignments heavily relies on the availability and reliability of DNA barcode libraries. There is growing demand for a comprehensive understanding of aquatic biodiversity and the critical role of Chironomidae, specifically Stenochironomus in freshwater ecosystems. Therefore, our objective is to develop a reference barcode library for Stenochironomus in China. From 2016 to 2021, we collected Stenochironomus specimens in diverse Chinese landscapes using malaise traps, light traps, and sweep nets. These specimens were carefully preserved for DNA extraction and barcode sequencing. Our analysis unveiled 36 unique operational taxonomic units from 180 COI barcode sequences through a Neighbor-Joining tree and Automatic Barcode Gap Discovery program, highlighting a significant diversity within the Stenochironomus species. The findings emphasize the constraints of conventional morphological identification methods, especially for species with ambiguous morphologies. It also underscores the effectiveness of DNA barcoding in revealing hidden species diversity, known as cryptic species. Consequently, this study advocates for an integrated taxonomic approach, combining morphological and molecular data, to refine species identification and conservation strategies. Objective: Develop and psychometrically test the physiopsychological disorders scale for medical rescuers fighting epidemics (PDS‐MRFE). Method: A three‐phase approach was used to develop and test the physiopsychological disorders scale: (1) creating the item pool, (2) preliminarily evaluating items, and (3) refining the scale and estimating the psychometric properties. The items of the instrument were generated based on a comprehensive literature review and a qualitative study conducted with 31 medical rescuers (18 nurses and 13 doctors) fighting epidemics. A preliminary evaluation of items was conducted using content validity which was evaluated by a panel of 15 experts. Validity and reliability examinations were conducted to refine the scale and evaluate its psychometric properties. This was done using two different samples. Specifically, Sample A (360 medical rescuers) was employed for item reduction and exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and Sample B (287 medical rescuers) was employed for the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and determination of other psychometric properties (i.e., reliability, concurrent, convergent, and discriminant validity), which further confirmed the structure of the scale and evaluated its final psychometric properties. Results: The final scale has 39 items with three subscales, including before, during, and after rescue. The exploratory factor analysis result indicated that the before‐rescue scale of four items, during‐rescue of 21 items, and after‐rescue of 14 items explained 52.07%, 69.75%, and 52.30% of the cumulative variance, respectively. The confirmatory factor analysis result indicated that model fit indices of three subscales were acceptable and showed evidence of adequate content, convergent, discriminate, and concurrent validity. The Cronbach's α coefficients for each subscale and all dimensions ranged from 0.81 to 0.92, indicating good reliability for the PDS‐MRFE. Conclusions: The physiopsychological disorders scale is a psychometrically valid and reliable instrument and can be used in both clinical practice and research to evaluate different physiopsychological disorders at different medical rescue stages among medical rescuers fighting epidemics. This study investigated the differences in linguistic complexity between different types of English users, including native speakers (NS), English as a foreign language (EFL) learners, and English as a second language (ESL) learners in terms of Kolmogorov complexity. Furthermore, we explored how first language backgrounds affect linguistic complexity. Our dataset contains 2272 argumentative essays produced by English NSs and upper‐intermediate learners from four ESL and six EFL countries/regions. Results showed that significant differences existed between the writings of NS, EFL, and ESL regarding overall and syntactic complexity. Specifically, the rank of overall complexity (NS > ESL > EFL) indicates that learners from countries/regions with higher exposure to English tend to produce overall more complex writings. Concerning syntactic complexity, EFL learners produce the most complex writings, while NS produces the least complex, indicating that essays written by EFL learners contain the most fixed word order patterns. In contrast, no significant difference was detected in morphological complexity among the NS, ESL, and EFL groups, suggesting that native and upper‐intermediate non‐NSs exhibit a similar range of morphological forms in their writings. Additionally, our results showed a larger effect of first language backgrounds over English speaker types on linguistic complexity, thus informing teachers to implement targeted writing instructions for learners from different countries. ABSTRACT Ubiquitination‐mediated protein degradation is integral to plant immunity, with E3 ubiquitin ligases acting as key factors in this process. Here, we report the functions of OsATL32, a plasma membrane‐localized Arabidopsis Tóxicos En Levadura (ATL)‐type E3 ubiquitin ligase, in rice (Oryza sativa) immunity and its associated regulatory network. We found that the expression of OsATL32 is downregulated in both compatible and incompatible interactions between rice and the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. The OsATL32 protein level declines in response to infection by a compatible M. oryzae strain or to chitin treatment. OsATL32 negatively regulates rice resistance to blast and bacterial leaf blight diseases, as well as chitin‐triggered immunity. Biochemical and genetic studies revealed that OsATL32 suppresses pathogen‐induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation by mediating ubiquitination and degradation of the ROS‐producing OsRac5–OsRbohB module, which enhances rice immunity against M. oryzae. The protein phosphatase PHOSPHATASE AND TENSIN HOMOLOG enhances rice blast resistance by dephosphorylating OsATL32 and promoting its degradation, preventing its negative effect on rice immunity. SUMMARY: Carotenoids perform a broad range of important functions in humans; therefore, carotenoid biofortification of maize (Zea mays L.), one of the most highly produced cereal crops worldwide, would have a global impact on human health. PLASTID TERMINAL OXIDASE (PTOX) genes play an important role in carotenoid metabolism; however, the possible function of PTOX in carotenoid biosynthesis in maize has not yet been explored. In this study, we characterized the maize PTOX locus by forward‐ and reverse‐genetic analyses. While most higher plant species possess a single copy of the PTOX gene, maize carries two tandemly duplicated copies. Characterization of mutants revealed that disruption of either copy resulted in a carotenoid‐deficient phenotype. We identified mutations in the PTOX genes as being causal of the classic maize mutant, albescent1. Remarkably, overexpression of ZmPTOX1 significantly improved the content of carotenoids, especially β‐carotene (provitamin A), which was increased by ~threefold, in maize kernels. Overall, our study shows that maize PTOX locus plays an important role in carotenoid biosynthesis in maize kernels and suggests that fine‐tuning the expression of this gene could improve the nutritional value of cereal grains. Significance Statement: We used a genetic approach to show that an important enzyme PLASTID TERMINAL OXIDASE (PTOX) regulates the biosynthesis of carotenoids, a pivotal nutrient for human health, in maize kernels. This work provides the first evidence that PTOX plays an important role in carotenoid biosynthesis in cereal grains, and we successfully increased the nutrient value of maize by overexpressing this gene. Dementia is a major public health issue and a heavy economic burden. It is urgently necessary to understand the underlying biological processes and to identify biomarkers predicting risk of dementia in the preclinical stage for prevention and treatment. By using the data of the 367,093 white British individuals from UK Biobank, we investigated the relationship between 56 laboratory measures and 5-year dementia incidence using logistic regression. Adjusted odds ratios for dementia incidence with values below or above the 95 % confidence interval (<2.5th or > 97.5th percentile) on each of clinical laboratory tests were computed. We observed that markers of endocrine dysregulation: elevated hemoglobin A1C (AOR = 2.01 [1.35, 2.88]) was associated with increased dementia incidence. Indicators of liver dysfunction: elevated gamma glutamyltransferase (AOR = 2.28 [1.49, 3.32]), and albumin (AOR = 2.01 [1.15, 3.25]), indicators of renal impairment: high urea (AOR = 1.69 [1.15, 2.40]), and cystatin C (AOR = 1.89 [1.30, 2.67]), and some immune markers, like elevated neutrophill count, low lymphocyte count, and indicators of anemia were also observed to be associated with increased dementia incidence. Both low and high concentrations of insulin-like growth factor 1 were found to be risk factors for dementia. This is an observational study. Several systemic biomarkers were associated with dementia incidence. Background: For patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2)-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer who have progressed on first-line trastuzumab therapy, the clinical value of the continuous use of trastuzumab beyond progression (TBP) is controversial. Objectives: The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and explore new treatment strategies of TBP for patients with trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer in the era of cancer immunotherapy. Design: Retrospective analysis. Methods: Patients with HER2-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer who have failed first-line treatment based on trastuzumab-targeted therapy from June 2019 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). Secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS), objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and safety. Survival curves of patients were estimated by the Kaplan–Meier method and compared using the log-rank test. Results: In all, 30 patients received TBP with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or anti-angiogenic therapy, and the other 26 patients received treatment of physician's choice without trastuzumab. The median PFS in the TBP and non-TBP population was 6.0 [95% confidence interval (CI) = 3.8–8.2] and 3.5 (95% CI = 2.2–4.8) months, respectively (p = 0.038), and the median OS was 12.3 (95% CI = 10.4–14.2) and 9.0 (95% CI = 6.6–11.4) months (p = 0.008). The patients who received TBP treatment had more favorable PFS and OS than the non-TBP population. In the TBP group, patients who received trastuzumab plus chemotherapy and immunotherapy had higher ORR (40.0% versus 16.7%), DCR (90.0% versus 50.0%), and showed a significant improvement in PFS (7.0 versus 1.9 m) compared to TBP with chemotherapy alone. Subgroup analysis suggested that patients with male, HER2 positive with immunohistochemistry score 3+ and PFS of first-line treatment less than 6 months had a greater benefit from TBP. The incidence of Grade 3–4 adverse events in the TBP and non-TBP groups was 43.3% and 38.5%. Conclusion: The continuous use of TBP improves PFS and OS in patients with trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer with well-tolerated toxicity. In the era of immunotherapy, TBP combined with chemotherapy and immunotherapy may further enhance the clinical benefit and provide a new treatment strategy. Subgroup analysis suggested that patients with male, HER2-positive with IHC score 3+ and PFS of first-line treatment less than 6 months had a greater benefit from TBP. The continuous use of TBP does not increase the incidence of adverse events (AEs). The continuous use of TBP improve PFS and OS in patients with trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer with well tolerated toxicity. Wheat straw returning is widely practiced in agriculture; therefore, it is critical to determine the physicochemical and bacterial indicators in soil for the organic carbon storage, accumulative C mineralization, total nitrogen improvement, and nitrogen mineralization in various soil types after wheat straw returning. This study evaluated the influenced indicators of wheat straw addition on soil organic carbon and nitrogen transformation in diverse soil types. For this purpose, an incubation experiment was conducted to analyze the carbon and nitrogen transformation in soil from eight Chinese provinces treated with the same dry weight of wheat straw. The results indicated that the primary physicochemical and bacterial indicators that predict the carbon and nitrogen transformations in the acidic and alkaline soils were different. Of all the natural physicochemical properties of soil, cation exchange capacity and clay content were significantly correlated with organic carbon, mineralized carbon, total nitrogen, and mineralized nitrogen in the alkaline soil. In the acidic soil, the initial C/N ratio of soil was the most significant indicator of carbon and nitrogen transformation. From the perspective of the carbon- and nitrogen-relating bacterial communities, Proteobacteria were largely responsible for the accumulative C mineralization in both types of soil. Furthermore, Proteobacteria strongly regulated the organic carbon storage in the acidic soil after wheat straw addition, whereas Gemmatimonadetes was the main predicted indicator in the alkaline soil. Additionally, total nitrogen and mineralized nitrogen levels were largely explained by Bifidobacterium and Luteimonas in the alkaline soil and by Nitrospira and Bdellovibrio in the acidic soil. Soil physicochemical and biological properties significantly influence soil carbon and nitrogen transformation, which should be considered crucial indicators to guide the rational regulation of straw return in several areas. This project presents a quantitative detection method to identify raccoon‐derived ingredient adulteration in sausage products. The specific copy gene of the raccoon was selected as the target gene. According to the specificity of its primer and probe, the quantitative detection method of raccoon microdrops by droplet digital PCR was established. In addition, the accuracy of the proposed method was verified by artificially mixed samples, and the applicability of this method was tested based on the commercially available products. The experimental results indicate that the raccoon mass (M) and raccoon‐extracted DNA concentration have a good linear relationship when the sample content is 5–100 mg, and there is also a significant linear relationship between DNA content and DNA copy number (C) with R2 =.9982. Therefore, using DNA concentration as the median signal, the conversion equation between raw raccoon mass (M) and DNA copy number (C) could be obtained as follows: M = (C + 177.403)/16.954. The detection of artificially mixed samples and commercial samples shows that the method is accurate and suitable for quantitative adulteration detection of various sausage products in the market. The rapid growth of edge devices and mobile applications has driven the adoption of edge computing to handle computing tasks closer to end-users. However, the heterogeneity of edge devices and their limited computing resources raise challenges in the efficient allocation of computing resources to complete services with different characteristics and preferences. In this paper, we delve into an edge scenario comprising multiple Edge Computing Servers (ECSs), multiple Device-to-Device (D2D) Edge Nodes (ENs), and multiple edge devices. In order to address the resource allocation challenge among ECSs, ENs, and edge devices in high-workload environments, as well as the pricing of edge resources within the resource market framework, we propose a Risk Assessment Contract Algorithm (RACA) based on risk assessment theory. The RACA enables ECSs to assess risks associated with local users by estimating their future revenue potential and updating the contract autonomously at present and in the future. ENs acquire additional resources from ECSs to efficiently complete local users' tasks. Simultaneously, ENs can also negotiate reasonable resource requests and pricing with ECSs by a Stackelberg game algorithm. Furthermore, we prove the unique existence of Nash equilibrium in the established game, implying that equilibrium solutions can stably converge through computational methods in heterogeneous environments. Finally, through simulation experiments on the dataset, we demonstrate that risk assessment can better enhance the overall profit capability of the system. Moreover, through multiple experiments, we showcase the stability of the contract's autonomous update capability. The RACA exhibits better utility in terms of system profit capabilities, stability in high-workload environments, and energy consumption. The double‐layer porous media burner is considered as an effective way to realize stable lean‐burn. In order to quickly achieve a stable combustion state in a double‐layer porous media burner, this work investigated the dynamic characteristics of methane/air premixed combustion in a bench‐scale double‐layer porous media burnspanning from ignition to stable combustion and ultimately flameout. The experimental results indicate that regulating the equivalence ratio and the inlet velocity enables the establishment of a stable flame front and the φ = 0.75 and the Vin = 0.20 m/s are the appropriate start‐up conditions. The average propagation velocity of the combustion wave variation along the axial direction and ranged approximately from −0.022 to −0.078 mm/s. Moreover, the transition time to a stable combustion state is reduced by nearly 47.14% as the equivalence ratio increases from 0.60 to 0.70. During start‐up stage, there are significant fluctuations in CO and NOx concentrations, but both emissions remain low during steady combustion state, with the maximum concentrations of 37.5 and 40.2 mg/m3, respectively. Furthermore, the porous media combustion exhibits a pronounced re‐ignition capacity. At higher equivalence ratios, longer interruptions of premixed gas are allowed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Allergic diseases typically refer to a heterogeneous group of conditions primarily caused by the activation of mast cells or eosinophils, including atopic dermatitis (AD), allergic rhinitis (AR), and asthma. Asthma, AR, and AD collectively affect approximately one‐fifth of the global population, imposing a significant economic burden on society. Despite the availability of drugs to treat allergic diseases, they have been shown to be insufficient in controlling relapses and halting disease progression. Therefore, new drug targets are needed to prevent the onset of allergic diseases. Method: We employed a Mendelian randomization approach to identify potential drug targets for the treatment of allergic diseases. Leveraging 1798 genetic instruments for 1537 plasma proteins from the latest reported Genome‐Wide Association Studies (GWAS), we analyzed the GWAS summary statistics of Ferreira MA et al. (nCase = 180,129, nControl = 180,709) using the Mendelian randomization method. Furthermore, we validated our findings in the GWAS data from the FinnGen and UK Biobank cohorts. Subsequently, we conducted sensitivity tests through reverse causal analysis, Bayesian colocalization analysis, and phenotype scanning. Additionally, we performed protein‐protein interaction analysis to determine the interaction between causal proteins. Finally, based on the potential protein targets, we conducted molecular docking to identify potential drugs for the treatment of allergic diseases. Results: At Bonferroni significance (p < 3.25 × 10−5), the Mendelian randomization analysis revealed 11 significantly associated protein‐allergic disease pairs. Among these, the increased levels of TNFAIP3, ERBB3, TLR1, and IL1RL2 proteins were associated with a reduced risk of allergic diseases, with corresponding odds ratios of 0.82 (0.76–0.88), 0.74 (0.66–0.82), 0.49 (0.45–0.55), and 0.81 (0.75–0.87), respectively. Conversely, increased levels of IL6R, IL1R1, ITPKA, IL1RL1, KYNU, LAYN, and LRP11 proteins were linked to an elevated risk of allergic diseases, with corresponding odds ratios of 1.04 (1.03–1.05), 1.25 (1.18–1.34), 1.48 (1.25–1.75), 1.14 (1.11–1.18), 1.09 (1.05–1.12), 1.96 (1.56–2.47), and 1.05 (1.03–1.07), respectively. Bayesian colocalization analysis suggested that LAYN (coloc.abf‐PPH4 = 0.819) and TNFAIP3 (coloc.abf‐PPH4 = 0.930) share the same variant associated with allergic diseases. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates a causal association between the expression levels of TNFAIP3 and LAYN and the risk of allergic diseases, suggesting them as potential drug targets for these conditions, warranting further clinical investigation. Manganese slag (MS) containing a certain amount of active hydration substances may be used as a kind of cementitious material. In the present study, we measured the mass, the relative dynamic modulus of elasticity (RDME), and the flexural and compressive strengths of MS high-performance concrete (MS-HPC) with added basalt fibers exposed to NaCl freeze–thaw cycles (N-FCs), NaCl dry–wet alternations (N-DAs), and Na2SO4 dry–wet alternations (NS-DAs). Scanning electron microscope energy-dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS) spectra, thermogravimetric analysis (TG) curves, and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) curves were obtained. The mass ratio of MS ranged from 0% to 40%. The volume ratio of basalt fibers varied from 0% to 2%. We found that, as a result of salt action, the mass loss rate (MLR) exhibited linear functions which were inversely correlated with the mass ratio of MS and the volume ratio of basalt fibers. After salt action, MLR increased by rates of 0~56.3%, but this increase was attenuated by the addition of MS and basalt fibers. Corresponding increases in RDME exhibited a linear function which was positively correlated with MS mass ratios in a range of 0~55.1%. The addition of MS and basalt fibers also led to decreased attenuation of mechanical strength, while the addition of MS led to increased levels of flocculent hydration products and the elements Mn, Mg, and Fe. CaClOH and CaSO4 crystals were observed in XRD curves after N-DA and NS-DA actions, respectively. Finally, the addition of MS resulted in increased variation in TG values. Background: In spite of the tremendous potential of game‐changing biological image‐ and/or biologically guided radiation therapy (RT) and adaptive radiation therapy for cancer treatment, existing limited strategies for integrating molecular imaging and/or biological information with RT have impeded the translation of preclinical research findings to clinical applications. Additionally, there is an urgent need for a highly integrated small‐animal radiation therapy (SART) platform that can seamlessly combine therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities to comprehensively enhance RT for cancer treatment. Purpose: We investigated a highly integrated quad‐modal on‐board imaging configuration combining positron emission tomography (PET), single‐photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), photon‐counting spectral CT, and cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) in a SART platform using a Monte Carlo model as a proof‐of‐concept. Methods: The quad‐modal on‐board imaging configuration of the SART platform was designed and evaluated by using the GATE Monte Carlo code. A partial‐ring on‐board PET imaging subsystem, utilizing advanced semiconductor thallium bromide detector technology, was designed to achieve high sensitivity and spatial resolution. On‐board SPECT, photon‐counting spectral‐CT, and CBCT imaging were performed using a single cadmium zinc telluride flat detector panel. The absolute peak sensitivity and scatter fraction of the PET subsystem were estimated by using simulated phantoms described in the NEMA NU‐4 standard. The spatial resolution of the PET image of the platform was evaluated by imaging a simulated micro‐Derenzo hot‐rod phantom. To evaluate the quantitative imaging capability of the system's spectral CT, the Bayesian eigentissue decomposition (ETD) method was utilized to quantitatively decompose the virtual noncontrast (VNC) electron densities and iodine contrast agent fractions in the Kidney1 inserts mixed with the iodine contrast agent within the simulated phantoms. The performance of the proposed quad‐model imaging in the platform was validated by imaging a simulated phantom with multiple imaging probes, including an iodine contrast agent and radioisotopes of 18F and 99mTc. Results: The PET subsystem demonstrated an absolute peak sensitivity of 18.5% at the scanner center, with an energy window of 175–560 KeV, and a scatter fraction of only 3.5% for the mouse phantom, with a default energy window of 480–540 KeV. The spatial resolution of PET on‐board imaging exceeded 1.2 mm. All imaging probes were identified clearly within the phantom. The PET and SPECT images agreed well with the actual spatial distributions of the tracers within the phantom. Average relative errors on electron density and iodine contrast agent fraction in the Kidney1 inserts were less than 3%. High‐quality PET images, SPECT images, spectral‐CT images (including iodine contrast agent fraction images and VNC electron density images), and CBCT images of the simulated phantom demonstrated the comprehensive multimodal imaging capability of the system. Conclusions: The results demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed quad‐modal imaging configuration in a SART platform. The design incorporates anatomical, molecular, and functional information about tumors, thereby facilitating successful translation of preclinical studies into clinical practices. The challenge of image reconstruction from very-low-resolution images is made exceedingly difficult by multiple degradation factors in practical applications. Traditional methods do not consider the interactions between these degradation factors, so the results are often insufficient. To reconstruct low-resolution blurry images, both super-resolution and deblurring processes must be applied. In this paper, we propose a joint super-resolution and a deblurring model with integrated processing of the degradation factors to obtain better image quality. The joint model includes two branches, a super-resolution module and deblurring module, and both of them share the same feature extraction module. The super-resolution module consists of multiple layers of residual blocks. The deblurring module supports the robustness of the super-resolution module through feature feed-back in the learning process, by introducing an image blurring feature description into the feature representation. To create modules with high magnification, the base two-branch model is also used in two stages with scale recursion. A second-stage deblurring module receives the output of the first-stage super-resolution module and improves the deblurring capability when the image is further magnified. The modules enhance each other, significantly improve the quality of very-low-resolution text images, and maintain a low model complexity. A step-by-step training strategy is applied to reduce second-stage training difficulty. Experiments show that our approach significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of image quality and optical character recognition accuracy, and with a lower computational cost. Microgrid optimization scheduling, as a crucial part of smart grid optimization, plays a significant role in reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution. The development goals of microgrids not only aim to meet the basic demands of electricity supply but also to enhance economic benefits and environmental protection. In this regard, a multi-objective optimization scheduling model for microgrids in grid-connected mode is proposed, which comprehensively considers the operational costs and environmental protection costs of microgrid systems. This model also incorporates improvements to the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm by considering inertia factors and particle adaptive mutation, and it utilizes the improved algorithm to solve the optimization model. Simulation results demonstrate that this model can effectively reduce electricity costs for users and environmental pollution, promoting the optimized operation of microgrids and verifying the superior performance of the improved PSO algorithm. Single-phase solid-state transformers (SSTs) have the advantages of a compact structure, higher reliability, and multiple functions, and have been widely studied. However, bulky energy storage elements and inherent ripple power with double-grid frequency issues are the main disadvantages of conventional single-phase SSTs. This paper presents a single-phase matrix-type AC-AC SST eliminating ripple power with double-grid frequency. The presented SST consists of a line-frequency-commutated rectifier without bulky DC-link capacitors, an LLC resonant converter, a buck converter, and a line-frequency-commutated inverter. The LLC operates efficiently with a fixed voltage gain, and the buck converter provides a voltage regulation function. As a result, high conversion efficiency, high power density, and potentially high reliability are achieved. The early prediction of cerebral palsy (CP) could enable the follow-up of high-risk infants during the neuroplasticity period. This study aimed to explore the predictive value of fidgety movement assessment (FMA) and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the development of CP in clinic rehabilitation setting. This retrospective observational study included infants who underwent FMA and brain MRI at age nine to 20 weeks at Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, between March 2018 and September 2019. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of FMA and MRI for predicting the development of CP were assessed. A total of 258 infants (169 males, gestational age 37.4 ± 3.0 weeks, birth weight 2987.9 ± 757.1 g) were included. Fifteen children had CP after age two years. The diagnostic value of FMA and brain MRI combination showed 86.7% sensitivity (95% confidence interval [CI]: 58.4% to 97.7%), 98.4% specificity (95% CI: 95.6% to 99.5%), and 97.7% accuracy (95% CI: 95.0% to 99.1%); the combination diagnostic value also showed a significantly higher AUC for predicting CP after age two years than FMA alone (AUC: 0.981 vs 0.893, P = 0.013). To compare perioperative and long-term safety and effectiveness between conventional carotid endarterectomy (cCEA) and patch carotid endarterectomy (pCEA) under current medical conditions. Data on baseline characteristics as well as perioperative and long-term postoperative complications from patients who underwent cCEA or pCEA at the Department of Vascular Surgery, Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, from 2013 to 2022, were retrospectively collected and analyzed. A total of 248 CEA patients were included in our study. The majority of patients (87.3%) were male, and mean age was 63.6 ± 7.6 (range, 40–81) years; 104 patients (41.9%) underwent cCEA, while 144 (58.1%) underwent pCEA. Between the cCEA and pCEA groups, there were no significant differences in clinical baseline characteristics, occurrence of perioperative or long-term (median, 42.5 [range, 7 to 120] months) complications, and survival whether restenosis-free, asymptomatic or overall.
