4. Enhanced Semantic Segmentation Pipeline for WeatherProof Dataset Challenge

Abstract

This report describes the winning solution to the WeatherProof Dataset Challenge (CVPR 2024 UG2+ Track 3). Details regarding the challenge are available at https://cvpr2024ug2challenge.github.io/track3.html. We propose an enhanced semantic segmentation pipeline for this challenge. Firstly, we improve semantic segmentation models, using backbone pretrained with Depth Anything to improve UperNet model and SETRMLA model, and adding language guidance based on both weather and category information to InternImage model. Secondly, we introduce a new dataset WeatherProofExtra with wider viewing angle and employ data augmentation methods, including adverse weather and super-resolution. Finally, effective training strategies and ensemble method are applied to improve final performance further. Our solution is ranked 1st on the final leaderboard. Abstract

This paper discusses the results of the third edition of the Monocular Depth Estimation Challenge (MDEC). The challenge focuses on zero-shot generalization to the challenging SYNS-Patches dataset, featuring complex scenes in natural and indoor settings. As with the previous edition, methods can use any form of supervision, i.e. supervised or self-supervised. The challenge received a total of 19 submissions outperforming the baseline on the test set: 10 among them submitted a report describing their approach, highlighting a diffused use of foundational models such as Depth Anything at the core of their method. Abstract

Identification of the tyrosine phosphorylation (pY)-dependent interactome of immune co-receptors is crucial for understanding signal pathways involved in immunotherapy. However, identifying the motif-specific interactome for each pY commonly found on these multi-phosphorylated membrane proteins remains challenging. Here, we describe a photoaffinity-based chemical proteomic approach to dissect the motif-specific cytoplasmic interactomes of the critical immune co-receptor CD28. Various full-length CD28 cytoplasmic tails (CD28cyto) with defined pY and selectively replaced photo-methionine were synthesized and applied to explore three pY-motif-dependent CD28cyto interactomes. We identified a stand-alone interaction of phospholipase PLCG1 with the Y191 motif with enhanced affinity for the sequence neighboring the transmembrane domain. Importantly, taking advantage of native top-down mass spectrometry with a 193-nm laser, we discovered the direct association of a previously undefined pY218 motif with the kinase PKCθ through its C2 domain. This synthetic CD28cyto-based photoaffinity proteomic approach is generically applicable to the study of other immune co-receptors with multiple pY sites on their linear cytoplasmic tail.

Abstract

Background/Aims Endoscopic wound suturing is an important factor that affects the ability to remove large and full-thickness lesions during endoscopic resection. We aimed to evaluate the effect of a traction metal clip with a fishhook-like device on wound sutures after endoscopic resection. Methods From July 2020 to April 2021, patients who met the enrollment criteria were treated with a fishhook-like device during the operation to suture the postoperative wound (group A). Patients with similar conditions and similar size wounds who were treated with a “purse-string suture” to suture the wounds were retrospectively analyzed as the control group (group B). Difference in the suture rate, adverse events, time required for suturing, and number of metal clips were compared between the two groups. Results The time required for suturing was 7.72±0.51 minutes in group A and 11.50±0.91 minutes in group B. This difference was statistically significant (F=13.071, p=0.001). The number of metal clamps used in group A averaged 8.1 pieces/case, and the number of metal clamps used in group B averaged 7.3 pieces/case. This difference was not statistically significant (F=0.971, p=0.331). Conclusions The traction metal clip with the fishhook-like device is ingeniously designed and easy to operate. It has a good suture effect on the wound after endoscopic submucosal dissection and effectively prevents postoperative adverse events.
