The fermionic t-J model has been widely recognized as a canonical model in understanding various strongly correlated phases like cuprate high-Tc superconductivity. Simulating this model with controllable quantum platforms offers new possibilities to probe high-Tc physics, yet suffering challenges. Here we propose a novel scheme to realize the t-J model in a programmable Rydberg-dressed tweezer array. By properly engineering the Rydberg-dressed dipole-dipole interaction and inter-tweezer couplings, a highly tunable fermionic t-J model with next-nearest-neighbour hopping terms is achieved. We particularly explore quantum many-body dynamics in the large J/t limit, a regime far beyond the conventional optical lattices and cuprates. Notably, we predict a nontrivial self-pinning effect enforced by local quantum entanglement that characterizes a novel type of Hilbert space fragmentation. This effect leads to the breakdown of Krylov restricted thermalization. Material disorders are one of the major sources of noise and loss in solid-state quantum devices, whose behaviors are often modeled as two-level systems (TLSs) formed by charge tunneling between neighboring sites. However, the role of their spins in tunneling and its impact on device performance remain highly unexplored. In this work, employing ultra-thin TiN superconducting resonators, we reveal anomalous TLS behaviors by demonstrating an unexpected increase in resonant frequency at low magnetic fields. Furthermore, a spin-flip TLS model is proposed, in which an effective spin-orbit coupling is generated by inhomogeneous local magnetic fields from defect spins. This mechanism mixes charge tunnelings and spin flips, quantitatively reproducing the observed frequency-field relationship and its temperature dependence. This work deepens the understanding of spin-dependent TLS behaviors, offering the possibility of magnetically engineering noise and loss in solid-state quantum devices., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

We introduce a family of generalizations of the pentagram maps related to $Q$-nets. A specific example is considered, and we find the map can be treated as a refactorization mapping in the Poisson-Lie group of pseudo-difference operators. This method was firstly proposed by Izosimov, and we generalize it to fit our needs. Using this description, we obtain the corresponding Lax form with a spectral parameter and invariant Poisson brackets. Finally, we consider the reduction to $B$-nets and the discrete BKP equation, offering a geometric explanation for the discrete-time Toda equation of BKP type proposed by Hirota., Comment: 30 pages

M\textbf{\textit{O}}enes, as emerging MXenes-like materials, also have wide structural spaces and various chemical and physical properties. Using first-principles and high-throughput calculations, we have built an online library (\url{https://moenes.online}) for M\textbf{\textit{O}}enes family materials from basic summaries, mechanical, phonon and electron aspects, based on their structural diversities from 2 stoichiometric ratios, 11 early-transition metals, 4 typical functional groups and 4 oxygen group elements. Compared to MXenes, the main advantage of M\textbf{\textit{O}}enes at present is that we have discovered 14 direct semiconductors, which greatly increases the number of direct semiconductors and the range of band gap values in the MXenes family. Among them, 1T-Ti$_{2}$\textit{\textbf{O}}F$_{2}$ (\textbf{\textit{O}}=O, S, Se) reveal tunable semiconducting features and strong light-harvesting ability ranging from the ultraviolet to the near-infrared region. Besides, 2H- and 1T-Y$_{2}$TeO$_{2}$ have a long carrier lifetime of 2.38 and 1.24 ns, originating from their spatially distinguished VBM and CBM states and long dephasing times. In addition, 2H-Zr$_{2}$O(O)$_{2}$ shows spin-valley coupling phenomena, and the valley spin splitting is apparent and robust in its conduction band ($\sim$85 meV). Therefore, M\textbf{\textit{O}}enes have a wealth of physical properties, not limited to those reported here, and future studies of these emerging M\textbf{\textit{O}}enes are appealing.

The spin and orbital are two basic degrees of freedom, which play significant roles in exploring exotic quantum phases in optical lattices with synthetic spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and high orbital bands, respectively. Here, we propose an orbital optical Raman lattice to study exotic high-orbital Bose condensates with Raman-induced SOC in a square lattice. We find that both the SOC and p-orbital interactions influence the condensed state of bosons. Their interplay results in two novel high-orbital many-body quantum phases: the uniform angular momentum superfluid phase, which features a global topological chiral orbital current, and the two-dimensional spin-orbital supersolid phase, which is characterized by the spin and orbital angular momentum density wave patterns. The former has topological Bogoliubov excitations characterized by a uniform Chern number, while the spin-orbital supersolid phase hosts topological excitations with opposite Chern numbers which respectively protect the chiral and antichiral edge modes in the neighboring supersolid clusters. Our findings may inspire a new avenue for exploring exotic SOC and high-orbital physics in optical lattices, and shall also advance the experimental progress of novel supersolids in higher dimensions., Comment: 7+9 pages, 4+4 figures. The pioneering work of Oono and Suzuki [ICLR, 2020] and Cai and Wang [arXiv:2006.13318] initializes the analysis of the smoothness of graph convolutional network (GCN) features. Their results reveal an intricate empirical correlation between node classification accuracy and the ratio of smooth to non-smooth feature components. However, the optimal ratio that favors node classification is unknown, and the non-smooth features of deep GCN with ReLU or leaky ReLU activation function diminish. In this paper, we propose a new strategy to let GCN learn node features with a desired smoothness -- adapting to data and tasks -- to enhance node classification. Our approach has three key steps: (1) We establish a geometric relationship between the input and output of ReLU or leaky ReLU. (2) Building on our geometric insights, we augment the message-passing process of graph convolutional layers (GCLs) with a learnable term to modulate the smoothness of node features with computational efficiency. (3) We investigate the achievable ratio between smooth and non-smooth feature components for GCNs with the augmented message-passing scheme. Scaling up quantum dots to two-dimensional (2D) arrays is a crucial step for advancing semiconductor quantum computation. However, maintaining excellent tunability of quantum dot parameters, including both nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor couplings, during 2D scaling is challenging, particularly for silicon quantum dots due to their relatively small size. Here, we present a highly controllable and interconnected 2D quantum dot array in planar silicon, demonstrating independent control over electron fillings and the tunnel couplings of nearest-neighbor dots. More importantly, we also demonstrate the wide tuning of tunnel couplings between next-nearest-neighbor dots,which plays a crucial role in 2D quantum dot arrays. This excellent tunability enables us to alter the coupling configuration of the array as needed. These results open up the possibility of utilizing silicon quantum dot arrays as versatile platforms for quantum computing and quantum simulation.

Electron spin qubits in silicon are a promising platform for fault-tolerant quantum computing. Low-frequency noise, including nuclear spin fluctuations and charge noise, is a primary factor limiting gate fidelities. Suppressing this noise is crucial for high-fidelity qubit operations. Here, we report on a two-qubit quantum device in natural silicon with universal qubit control, designed to investigate the upper limits of gate fidelities in a non-purified Si/SiGe quantum dot device. By employing advanced device structures, qubit manipulation techniques, and optimization methods, we have achieved single-qubit gate fidelities exceeding 99% and a two-qubit Controlled-Z (CZ) gate fidelity of 91%. Decoupled CZ gates are used to prepare Bell states with a fidelity of 91%, typically exceeding previously reported values in natural silicon devices. These results underscore that even natural silicon has the potential to achieve high-fidelity gate operations, particularly with further optimization methods to suppress low-frequency noise.

Decentralized federated learning (DFL) uses peer-to-peer communication to avoid the single point of failure problem in federated learning and has been considered an attractive solution for machine learning tasks on distributed devices. We provide the first solution to a fundamental network problem of DFL: what overlay network should DFL use to achieve fast training of highly accurate models, low communication, and decentralized construction and maintenance? Overlay topologies of DFL have been investigated, but no existing DFL topology includes decentralized protocols for network construction and topology maintenance. Without these protocols, DFL cannot run in practice. This work presents an overlay network, called FedLay, which provides fast training and low communication cost for practical DFL. FedLay is the first solution for constructing near-random regular topologies in a decentralized manner and maintaining the topologies under node joins and failures. Experiments based on prototype implementation and simulations show that FedLay achieves the fastest model convergence and highest accuracy on real datasets compared to existing DFL solutions while incurring small communication costs and being resilient to node joins and failures.

The dispersion measures of fast radio bursts have been identified as a powerful tool for testing the zero-mass hypothesis of the photon. The classical approach treats the massive photon-induced and plasma-induced time delays as two separate phenomena. Recently, Wang et al. (2024) suggested that the joint influence of the nonzero photon mass and plasma effects should be considered, and proposed a revised time delay for massive photons propagating in a plasma medium, denoted as $\Delta t'_{m_{\gamma}} \propto \nu^{-4}$, which departures from the classical dispersion relation ($\propto \nu^{-2}$). Protecting data privacy in deep learning (DL) is of crucial importance. Several celebrated privacy notions have been established and used for privacy-preserving DL. However, many existing mechanisms achieve privacy at the cost of significant utility degradation and computational overhead. In this paper, we propose a stochastic differential equation-based residual perturbation for privacy-preserving DL, which injects Gaussian noise into each residual mapping of ResNets. Theoretically, we prove that residual perturbation guarantees differential privacy (DP) and reduces the generalization gap of DL. Empirically, we show that residual perturbation is computationally efficient and outperforms the state-of-the-art differentially private stochastic gradient descent (DPSGD) in utility maintenance without sacrificing membership privacy.

We study the ground-state phase diagram of the half-filled extended Haldane-Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice with sublattice-dependent on-site repulsion ($U_{\text{A/B}}$) using the exact diagonalization (ED) and mean-field (MF) methods. The resulting phase diagram shows that there is a topologically nontrivial phase with the Chern number $C=1$, emerging via the development of the imbalance between $U_{\text{A}}$ and $U_{\text{B}}$. In this phase, the antiferromagnetic correlations are observed in the ED calculation, in line with the finite antiferromagnetic order obtained by the MF method. The spontaneous symmetry breaking of SU(2) spin rotation in the phase is also identified in the MF level. Distinct from previous studies in which the exotic $C=1$ phase relies on the interplay between sublattice-dependent potentials and electronic interactions, our paper presents an alternative way by solely tuning the on-site interactions., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

Rare-earth Zintl compound EuIn$_2$As$_2$ has been theoretically recognized as a candidate for realizing an intrinsic antiferromagnetic (AFM) bulk axion insulator and a higher-order topological state, which provides a fertile platform to explore novel topological transport phenomena. However, the axion state has yet to be realized because EuIn$_2$As$_2$ is highly hole-doped. Here, we synthesized a series of high-quality Ca-doped EuIn2As2 (Ca$_x$Eu$_{1-x}$In$_2$As$_2$, x = 0 ~ 0.25) single crystals to tune the Fermi energy above the hole pocket. Our Hall measurements reveal that the isovalent Ca substitution decreases the hole carrier density by shrinking the lattice spacing, which is also confirmed by our first-principles calculations. We further find that both the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility with a local maximum at the N\'eel temperature and the topological Hall effect originating from the finite real-space spin chirality persist in the Ca-doped samples as observed in the pristine EuIn$_2$As$_2$, despite that the nonmagnetic Ca substitution decreases the effective moment and the N\'eel temperature. These results show that the Ca substitution tunes the Fermi energy while keeping the AFM magnetic structure, suggesting that the axion insulating state may be realized by further Ca substitution., Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures

Although the metalization of semiconductor bulk LiBC has been experimentally achieved, various flaws, including the strong lattice distortion, the uncontrollability of phase transition under pressure, usually appear. In this work, based on the first-principles calculations, we propose a new way of hydrogenation to realize metalization. Using the fully anisotropic Migdal-Eliashberg theory, we investigate the superconducting behaviors in the stable monolayers LiBCH and LiCBH, in which C and B atoms are hydrogenated, respectively. Our findings indicate that the monolayers possess the high $T_{c}$ of 82.0 and 82.5 K, respectively, along with the interesting three-gap superconducting natures. The Fermi sheets showing the obvious three-region distribution characteristics and the abnormally strong electron-phonon coupling (EPC) are responsible for the high-$T_{c}$ three-gap superconductivity. Furthermore, the $T_{c}$ can be dramatically boosted up to 120.0 K under 3.5 \% tensile strain. To a great extent, the high $T_{c}$ is beyond the liquid nitrogen temperature ($77$ K), which is beneficial for the applications in future experiments. Nuclear fusion is recognized as the energy of the future, and huge efforts and capitals have been put into the research of controlled nuclear fusion in the past decades. The most challenging thing for controlled nuclear fusion is to generate and keep a super high temperature. Here, a sonication system, combining with micro-scale fluid control techniques, was built to generate cavitation within a limited region. As bubbles being rapidly compressed, high temperature plasma generated interior leads to particle emissions, where a Cs2LiYCl6: Ce3+ (CLYC) scintillator was used to collect the emission events. The pulse shape discrimination methods applied on captured signals revealed that only gamma ray events were observed in sonication with normal water as excepted, while obvious separation of neutron and gamma ray events was surprisingly identified in sonication with deuterated water. This result suggested that neutrons were emitted from the sonicated deuterated water, i.e. deuterium-deuterium thermonuclear fusion was initiated. This study provides an alternative and feasible approach to achieve controllable nuclear fusion and makes great sense for future researches on the application of fusion energy.

Higher-order topological phases (HOTPs) host exotic topological states that go beyond the traditional bulk-boundary correspondence. Up to now, there is still a lack of experimentally measurable momentum-space topological characterization for the HOTPs, which is not conducive to revealing the essential properties of these topological states and also restricts their detection in quantum simulation systems. Here, we propose a concept of polarized topological charges to characterize chiral-symmetric HOTPs in momentum space, which further facilitates a feasible experimental scheme to detect the HOTPs in $^{87}$Rb cold atomic system. Remarkably, our characterization theory not only shows that the second-order (third-order) topological phases are determined by a quarter (negative eighth) of the total polarized topological charges, but also reveals that the higher-order topological phase transitions are identified by the creation or annihilation of polarized topological charges. Particularly, these polarized topological charges can be measured by pseudospin structures of the systems. A hypothetical photon mass, $m_{\gamma}$, can produce a frequency-dependent vacuum dispersion of light, which leads to an additional time delay between photons with different frequencies when they propagate through a fixed distance. The dispersion measure--redshift measurements of fast radio bursts (FRBs) have been widely used to constrain the rest mass of the photon. However, all current studies analyzed the effect of the frequency-dependent dispersion for massive photons in the standard $\Lambda$CDM cosmological context. In order to alleviate the circularity problem induced by the presumption of a specific cosmological model based on the fundamental postulate of the masslessness of photons, here we employ a new model-independent smoothing technique, Artificial Neural Network (ANN), to reconstruct the Hubble parameter $H(z)$ function from 34 cosmic-chronometer measurements. By combining observations of 32 well-localized FRBs and the $H(z)$ function reconstructed by ANN, we obtain an upper limit of $m_{\gamma} \le 3.5 \times 10^{-51}\;\rm{kg}$, or equivalently $m_{\gamma} \le 2.0 \times 10^{-15}\;\rm{eV/c^2}$ ($m_{\gamma} \le 6.5 \times 10^{-51}\;\rm{kg}$, or equivalently $m_{\gamma} \le 3.6 \times 10^{-15}\;\rm{eV/c^2}$) at the $1\sigma$ ($2\sigma$) confidence level. Axions or axion-like particles (ALPs) are one of the most promising candidates of dark matter (DM). A prevalent method to detect axion-like DM is to seek the periodic oscillation feature in the polarization angles of linearly polarized light emitted from astrophysical sources. In this work, we use the time-resolved polarization measurements of the hyperactive repeating fast radio burst, FRB 20220912A, detected by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) to search for extragalactic axion-like DM for the first time. Given a DM density profile of FRB 20220912A's host, we obtain upper limits on the ALP-photon coupling constant of $g_{a \gamma}<(2.9 \times 10^{-11}-1.1\times 10^{-9})\,\mathrm{GeV}^{-1}$ for the ALP masses $m_a \sim (1.4\times10^{-21}-5.2\times10^{-20})$ eV. Persistent polarimetric observations with FAST would further improve the constraints. We compare, with data from the quasars, the Hubble parameter measurements, and the Pantheon+ type Ia supernova, three different relations between X-ray luminosity ($L_X$) and ultraviolet luminosity ($L_{UV}$) of quasars. These three relations consist of the standard and two redshift-evolutionary $L_X$-$L_{UV}$ relations which are constructed respectively by considering a redshift dependent correction to the luminosities of quasars and using the statistical tool called copula. By employing the PAge approximation for a cosmological-model-independent description of the cosmic background evolution and dividing the quasar data into the low-redshift and high-redshift parts, we find that the constraints on the PAge parameters from the low-redshift and high-redshift data, which are obtained with the redshift-evolutionary relations, are consistent with each other, while they are not when the standard relation is considered. If the data are used to constrain the coefficients of the relations and the PAge parameters simultaneously, then the observations support the redshift-evolutionary relations at more than $3\sigma$. The Akaike and Bayes information criteria indicate that there is strong evidence against the standard relation and mild evidence against the redshift-evolutionary relation constructed by considering a redshift dependent correction to the luminosities of quasars. This suggests that the redshift-evolutionary $L_X$-$L_{UV}$ relation of quasars constructed from copula is favored by the observations., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures. Accepted for publication in ApJ

Recent experimental breakthroughs, particularly for single-qubit and two-qubit gates exceeding the error correction threshold, highlight silicon spin qubits as leading candidates for fault-tolerant quantum computation. In the existing architecture, intrinsic or synthetic spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is critical in various aspects, including electrical control, addressability, scalability, etc. However, the high-fidelity SWAP operation and quantum state transfer (QST) between spin qubits, crucial for qubit-qubit connectivity, require the switchable nature of SOC which is rarely considered. Here, we propose a flexible architecture based on spin valves by electrically changing its magnetization orientation within sub-nanoseconds to generate ultrafast switchable SOC. Based on the switchable SOC architecture, both SWAP operation of neighbor spin qubits and resonant QST between distant spins can be realized with fidelity exceeding 99% while considering the realistic experimental parameters. Benefiting from the compatible processes with the modern semiconductor industry and experimental advances in spin valves and spin qubits, our results pave the way for future construction of silicon-based quantum chips., Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures

The Kitaev chiral spin liquid has captured widespread interest in recent decades because of its intrinsic non-Abelian excitations, yet the experimental realization is challenging. Here we propose to realize and detect Kitaev chiral spin liquid in a deformed honeycomb array of Rydberg atoms. Through a novel laser-assisted dipole-dipole interaction mechanism to generate both effective hopping and pairing terms for hard-core bosons, together with van der Waals interactions, we achieve the pure Kitaev model with high precision. The gapped non-Abelian spin liquid phase is then obtained by introducing Zeeman fields. Moreover, we propose innovative strategies to probe the chiral Majorana edge modes by light Bragg scattering and by imagining their chiral motion. Our work broadens the range of exotic quantum many-body phases that can be realized and detected in atomic systems, and makes an important step toward manipulating non-Abelian anyons.

In recent years, notable progress has been made in the study of hole qubits in planar germanium, and circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED) has emerged as a promising approach for achieving long-range coupling and scaling up of qubits. Here, we demonstrate the coupling between holes in a planar germanium double quantum dot (DQD) and photons in a microwave cavity. Specifically, a real-time calibrated virtual gate method is developed to characterize this hybrid system, which in turn allows us to determine the typical parameters sequentially through single-parameter fitting instead of conventional multi-parameter fitting with additional uncertainty, and gives the hole-photon coupling rate of $g_0/2\pi$ = 21.7 MHz. This work is a step toward further research on hole-photon interactions and long-range qubit coupling in planar germanium. We investigate the integrability of the non-commutative leapfrog map in this paper. Firstly, we derive the explicit formula for the non-commutative leapfrog map and corresponding discrete zero-curvature equation by employing the concept of non-commutative cross-ratio. Then we revisit this discrete map, as well as its continuous limit, from the perspective of non-commutative Laurent bi-orthogonal polynomials. Finally, the Poisson structure for this discrete non-commutative map is formulated with the help of a non-commutative network. We aim to enhance our understanding of the integrability properties of the non-commutative leapfrog map and its related mathematical structures through these analysis and constructions., Comment: 32 pages.
