Abstract

In this research, a multi-scale representative volume element method is introduced that combines the temperature and stress fields to analyze the force field distribution around microcracks in low-carbon steel using a combination of molecular dynamics and finite element analysis. Initially, an orthogonal experimental design was used to design the molecular dynamics simulation experiments. Next, a nano-level uniaxial tensile test model for mild steel was established based on the experimental design, and the uniaxial tensile behavior of low-carbon steel was investigated using molecular dynamics. Lastly, mathematical models of the modulus of elasticity E and yield strength Q of mild steel at a high temperature were obtained statistically using the response surface methodology. Meanwhile, a finite element model with a coupled temperature–stress field was established to investigate the force field distribution around the microscopic defects, and the microscopic crack stress concentration coefficient K was revised. The results indicate that regardless of the location of microcracks within the structure, the stress distribution due to size effects should be considered under high-temperature loading. Abstract

The massive use of acetaminophen (APAP) poses a potential crisis for humans and the environment. In this paper, the degradation of APAP in aqueous solution was carried out using photocatalytic synergistic persulfate oxidation. To enhance the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 and thus activate the persulfate (K2S2O8, PS) more effectively, the heterojunction photocatalyst TiO2/g-C3N4 (TCN) was prepared by a hydrothermal method. The TCN-PS catalytic system showed a high efficiency for APAP degradation. When the amount of TCN and PS added was 0.6 g/L, the degradation rate of APAP at 10 mg/L was 78.3% after 60 min of illumination. Moreover, the TCN-PS catalytic system was effective in removing organic pollutants in acidic, neutral, and weakly alkaline environments. The radical quenching experiment results indicate that both sulfate radicals (SO4−•) and hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are involved in the degradation reaction. Abstract

Objective To investigate tumor and pregnancy outcomes after fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer. Methods A total of 83 patients with cervical cancer who received fertility-sparing surgery at 10 gynecologic cancer research centers in Henan Province were enrolled from January 2010 to June 2016. Clinical data and follow-up results were collected. Of them, 78 had cervical squamous carcinoma and five had cervical adenocarcinoma. International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (2009) staging showed that 26 patients had stage IA1, 11 had stage IA2, and 46 had stage IBI. Seventy-two patients underwent radical trachelectomy and retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy, whereas 11 underwent subradical trachelectomy and retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy. Moreover, 17 patients received one to two courses of preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy and five received two to four courses of postoperative chemotherapy. Eighty-three patients were followed up postoperatively (median follow-up duration, 36.2 months). Results With regard to tumor outcomes, one (1.2%) patient showed recurrence following fertility-sparing surgery. In 69 patients with planned pregnancy after treatment, 54 had 58 pregnancies, including 42 full-term births and eight premature births. Seventy-nine patients were satisfied with their quality of life. Conclusions Radical/subradical trachelectomy is safe and effective as fertility-sparing surgery for young patients with early cervical cancer, with good pregnancy outcomes.
