Abstract

Objectives: Our goal in this study was to determine 1) whether there are any differences in clinical characteristics between Chinese and Western patients with aortic dissection (AD), and 2) the mortality rate of AD patients in the emergency department (ED) and identify the risk predictors for death.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients who were diagnosed with AD and admitted to our ED between September 1, 2017–August 31, 2020. Data on age, gender, clinical manifestation, medical history, routine blood tests, liver and kidney function, coagulation, myocardial enzymology, and mortality were collected.Results: We enrolled 535 AD patients (422 men and 113 women) with a mean age of 54.7±14.1 years. Type A AD constituted 40% of the total number of AD cases, while type B AD constituted 60%. 25. Curcumin alleviates deep tissue pressure injury in mice

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of curcumin on wound healing in deep tissue pressure injury(DTPI) induced by ischemia-reperfusion in mice. Methods Mice were randomly divided into control group (Con), model group (Mod), 4 and 8 mg/kg curcumin treatment group (Cur 4, Cur 8), 10 mice in each group. A deep tissue pressure injury model was established by magnet compression. The wounds tissue was injected with curcumin every 48 hours and photographed to observe the wound healing. HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes of wound healing. Real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10, VEGF-α and TGF-β. Western blot was used to detect the expression of VEGF-α, TGF-β, Stat3 and p-Stat3. Results Compared with the control group, the wound in the model group gradually deteriorated, and the pathological changes were obvious. Compared with the model group, the wound healing of the Cur 8 group was significantly accelerated (P＜0.05). Compared with the model group, the inflammatory cell infiltration was reduced and the neovascular density was increased in the Cur 8 group. The mRNA expression of TNF-α and IL-6 in the wound tissues of the Cur 8 group was less than those in the model group, while the expression of IL-10, VEGF-α and TGF-β was higher than those in the model group (P＜0.05). The expression of VEGF-α, TGF-β and p-Stat3 in Cur 8 group was higher than those in model group (P＜0.05). Conclusions Curcumin administration can alleviate DTPI of mice induced by ischemia-reperfusion, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of inflammatory response and promotion of angiogenesis.

Abstract

The deformation behavior of a TiZr-based bulk metallic glass composite (BMGC) was characterized in the supercooled liquid region (SLR) from 623 K to 693 K. It was observed that the alloy exhibits the deformation behavior from work softening at low temperatures to work hardening at high temperatures. The yield stress and overshoot stress decrease remarkably with the increase of temperature, accompanied by superplasticity. The results showed that the crystallization occurred in the amorphous matrix for the post-deformation samples and the volume fraction of the corresponding crystallization products increased with increasing testing temperature. It is implied that the work hardening behavior was closely associated with the crystallization of the amorphous matrix. The tensile stress can accelerate the crystallization of amorphous matrix and the martensitic transformation of dendrite phases, which implies that the thermal stability of the alloy decreases under tension. These findings shed light on designing new BMGCs with high mechanical performance as well as the good SLR formability.
