Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) account for a large proportion in tumor stroma, and can be divided into M1 type (anti-tumoral) and M2 type (pro-tumoral). Recently, many experimental and clinical studies have shown that M2-type TAMs are significantly correlated with tumor stage, tumor cell differentiation, depth of invasion, angiogenesis, lymph node metastasis and therapeutic drug resistance, which eventually affects the prognosis of tumor patients. Targeted TAMs therapy is expected to benefit cancer patients. This paper reviews the recent research of M2-type TAMs in lung cancer.

Atomically thin monolayer (ML) GeSb 2 Te 4 (GST) holds promising prospects in non-volatile memory applications because of its high non-homogeneous crystallization rate. In GST-based devices, the interaction between GST and metals is crucial, as it affects the electronic properties. Herein, based on first-principles calculations, we investigate the interaction and Schottky barrier height of contacts formed by the combination of ML GST with various metals. It is found that the interfaces of GST with Pt, Pd, Ir and W exhibit strong interaction, characterized by large binding energies ranging from 1.394 to 1.015 eV , and the interfaces between GST and Cu, Ag and Au display weak interaction. For the seven contacts, Ag and W form Ohmic contacts with ML GST, while Cu, Au, Pd, Ir, and Pt form n-type Schottky contacts, with Schottky barrier heights ranging from 0.029 to 0.353 eV . The strong Fermi level pinning at GST-metal interface is observed with a pinning factor of 0.378. Additionally, altering the interfacial distance and optimizing the layers of GST enable a transition from Ohmic contact to Schottky contact. Current crop stress resistance research suggests that the prominent stimulants nanoselenium (NSe) and melatonin (MT) might improve tea safety, quality, and stress resistance induced by the widely used nonselective herbicide glufosinate (GLU). Their biofortification effects on tea growth, antioxidant activity, and secondary metabolism pathways response to GLU remain unclear. Here, NSe, MT, and their combination NSe-MT effectively reduced 26.6-50.9% GLU and its metabolites in tea seedlings, balanced the photosystem, enhanced antioxidant defenses, and optimized reactive oxygen species scavenging mechanisms. Further, GLU-induced inhibition of glutamine synthetase (11.2-34.0%), ammonium toxicity (55.0-64.7%), and nitrogen metabolism disorders were alleviated. Stimulants exhibited different preferences in the accumulation of l-theanine (8.4-47%), gamma-aminobutyric acid (10.3-41.7%), and catechins (13.1-73.1%, excluding ECG), thereby influencing tea quality. Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses validated that NSe-MT had a more pronounced impact on tender tea leaves than individual stimulant treatments. All stimulants reduced GLU-induced excessive jasmonic acid (29.8-50.5%) production and signaling responses, revealing their significance in crop physiological activities under herbicide or nitrogen stress. The reduction in aromatic amino acids helped mitigate GLU's interference with phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, leading to inhibited lignin production but enhanced nutritional flavonoid levels, such as catechins. NSe and NSe-MT demonstrated promising potential as herbicide safeners. These findings provided insights into GLU detoxification mechanisms in other nontarget crops as well.

Monolayer Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 exhibits great potential in non-volatile memory technology due to its excellent electronic properties and phase-change characteristics, while the fundamental nature of Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 -metal contacts has not been well understood yet. Here, we provide a comprehensive ab initio study of the electronic properties between monolayer Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 and Pt, Pd, Au, Cu, Cr, Ag, and W contacts based on first-principles calculations. We find that the strong interaction interfaces formed between monolayer Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 and Pt, Pd, Cr, and W contacts show chemical bonding and strong charge transfer. In contrast, no apparent chemical bonding and weak charge transfer are observed in the weak interaction interfaces formed with Au, Cu, and Ag. Additionally, our study reveals the presence of a pronounced Fermi level pinning effect between monolayer Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 and metals, with pinning factors ofSn=0.325andSp=0.350. By increasing the interlayer distance, an effective transition from n -type Ohmic contact to n -type Schottky contact is facilitated because the band edge of Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 is shifted upwards. Our study not only provides a theoretical basis for selecting suitable metal electrodes in Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 -based devices but also holds significant implications for understanding Schottky barrier height modulation between semiconductors and metals., (© 2024 IOP Publishing Ltd. Introduction: Despite the benefit of adjuvant systemic therapy for patients with resected non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the risk of postoperative recurrence remains high. Our objective was to characterize temporal genetic heterogeneity between primary resected and recurrent tumors, and its impact on treatment outcomes., Methods: In this study, next-generation sequencing (NGS) testing was performed on tissue specimens and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) collected at postoperative recurrence, and results were compared to the genotypes of initial surgical specimens., Results: Of forty-five patients with matched primary and post-operative recurrent tumors, EGFR status switched in 17 patients (37.8%) at post-operative recurrence and 28 patients (62.2%) had no genotype change (17 mutant, 11 wild-type). Based on the changes of EGFR status, patients were divided into 4 groups. Following subsequent treatment with EGFR TKI o chemotherapy: In group A, with sustained sensitive mutation, the percentage achieving partial response (PR) was the highest, at 72.2%, the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 17 months, and the median overall survival (OS) was 44.0 months respectively; In group B, with genotype changed from wild-type to mutant, 50% achieved PR, PFS was 10 months, and OS was 35 months; In group C, in which mutant status shifted to wild-type or new co-mutation emerged, the percentage achieving PR was 30%, PFS was 9 months, and OS was 35 months.
