Additive manufacturing of glass aims to change the paradigm of glass manufacturing by allowing for improved customization coupled with lower energy and post‐processing needs. Fabrication of glass via volumetric additive manufacturing (VAM) involves printing in a silica‐loaded photopolymer resin with subsequent thermal processing and adds additional advantages by allowing for rapid printing of parts with smooth surfaces and no supports. Previous work in glass VAM has demonstrated fabrication of optical quality microoptics with overall dimensions on the scale of tens of cubic millimeters. For applications requiring glass printed on the scale of cubic centimeters the rheology, scattering, and green part strength must be controlled via resin formulation. Here, we present insight into a novel glass photopolymer resin suitable for VAM and in the effect of tuning formulation on the ability to produce dense glass parts with volumes on the scale of cubic centimeters. Background: Point‐of‐care lung ultrasound (LUS) is an effective tool to diagnose left‐sided congestive heart failure (L‐CHF) in dogs via detection of ultrasound artifacts (B‐lines) caused by increased lung water. Hypothesis/Objectives: To determine whether LUS can be used to monitor resolution of cardiogenic pulmonary edema in dogs, and to compare LUS to other indicators of L‐CHF control. Animals Twenty‐five client‐owned dogs hospitalized for treatment of first‐onset L‐CHF. Methods: Protocolized LUS, thoracic radiographs (TXR), and plasma N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide were performed at hospital admission, hospital discharge, and recheck examinations. Lung ultrasound findings were compared between timepoints and to other clinical measures of L‐CHF. Results: From time of hospital admission to discharge (mean 19.6 hours), median number of LUS sites strongly positive for B‐lines (>3 B‐lines per site) decreased from 5 (range, 1‐8) to 1 (range, 0‐5; P <.001), and median total B‐line score decreased from 37 (range, 6‐74) to 5 (range, 0‐32; P =.002). Lung ultrasound indices remained improved at first recheck (P <.001). Number of strong positive sites correlated positively with respiratory rate (r = 0.52, P =.008) and TXR edema score (r = 0.51, P =.009) at hospital admission. Patterns of edema resolution differed between LUS and TXR, with cranial quadrants showing more significant reduction in B‐lines compared to TXR edema score (80% vs 29% reduction, respectively; P =.003). Conclusions and Clinical Importance: Lung ultrasound could be a useful tool for monitoring resolution of pulmonary edema in dogs with L‐CHF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The quality of crystallographic alignment in textured ceramics produced by tape casting and templated grain growth (TGG) has been little studied despite its demonstrated impact on magnetic, piezoelectric, and optical properties. Physical and crystallographic alignment of anisotropic template particles is shown to be directly linked to the casting rate, gap height, and casting viscosity during tape casting. These parameters are shown to affect the shape and magnitude of the shear rate profile under the doctor blade during casting which in turn causes a gradient in the torque acting on anisotropic particles. The magnitude of the torque, the time the slurry is exposed to torque during casting, and the ratio of casting height to template diameter are demonstrated to enable the particle alignment process to be tailored to produce well‐aligned template particles. Crystallographic alignment of the textured ceramic was quantified by grain misalignment angle (full width at half maximum, FWHM) and degree of orientation (r) and is directly correlated with the degree of torque during casting. High‐quality alignment (FWHM = 4.5°; r = 0.13) was demonstrated in the model TGG system consisting of submicrometer alumina and 5 vol% 11 μm diameter template platelet particles.
