Older adults were among the high-risk groups for COVID-19 infection and relied on less vulnerable groups to protect them. In Spring 2021, we examined potential intergenerational motivators of COVID-19 containing behaviors and the support of COVID-19 containment measures among young Germans (N = 258). Intergenerational contact and general identification with older adults were not associated with COVID-19 containing behaviors or support of COVID-19 containment measures. However, the awareness of older adults' vulnerability to COVID-19 and the identification with older adults based on the shared experience of the pandemic were positive predictors of both criteria. The present article examines the transmission of energy-saving behaviors in the family on two levels. We investigated the extent to which energy-saving performance differed between adolescents in relation to parental behavior on an aggregated level but also across single behaviors within adolescents. Furthermore, we investigated whether social context (e.g., private areas in a household) interfered with one of the basic mechanisms assumed for this transmission (observation). Correlations between 13 self-reported single energy-saving behaviors from 264 adolescents and their respective parents (N = 554) were analyzed by combining a path analysis with a multilevel approach. There were strong significant correlations between parents' and adolescents' energy-saving behaviors, mediated by adolescents' perceptions of their parents' behavior. The congruence between parents' self-reports and adolescents' perceptions was lower in private contexts than in shared social contexts in the household. This indicates that differentiated investigations with single behaviors and a focus on the social context (e.g., observability) are needed in transmission research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Psychic perceptions are at the core of psychotherapeutic processes and modifiable by certain psychopharmacologic agents including antidepressants and cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors like acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). Methods: We analyzed the medical records of 208 participants, and used the weekly mean dosages and the number of weeks in therapy to predict ward experience (Stationserfahrungsbogen) and symptom burden (symptom-check list 90-R) by means of linear regression analyses and four repeated measures. Results: Time predicted symptom relief. ASA signified a more favorable ward experience and a trend towards less suffering. Antidepressants did not predict symptom burden or ward experience, except for amitriptyline's inverse relationship with process perception. Discussion: Regarding process perception and therapy outcome, amitriptyline might have unfavorable effects at dose reductions, whereas COX-inhibition could be beneficial at higher dosages. Similar findings have already been described with regard to COX-inhibition in depression and schizophrenia.
