While research exists on the experiences of African American counselor educators, little research has explored student perceptions of this population in the classroom setting. This study used an interpretative phenomenological analysis to explore the experiences of White counseling students who have taken a course with an African American counselor educator. Two themes were identified related to racial perception. Implications for counselor education leadership, African American counselor educators, and program curriculum are discussed.

Objective: Our pilot study tests whether university counseling centers (UCC) can apply the concept of cluster analysis, and geospatial analysis to identify clusters of "hot spots". Participants: Study participants were university students who received services from a large mid-western UCC between August 2015 and July 2016. The study was approved by the University's Institutional Review Board (IRB). Data collected include demographics, address, educational level and declared major. Methods: Data analysis, conducted using SYSTAT 13.1, IBM SPSS Statistics, ArcGIS Desktop and 10.2, ArcOnline, Microsoft excel to clean and analyze demographic data. Analysis included optimized cluster analysis with a p-value < 0.05 as statistically significant. Results: 927 participants, average age was 21.6. We identified "hotspots" using cluster analysis based on age, address, and country of origin. Conclusions: Our study shows that UCCs can apply cluster analysis, and geospatial analysis to identify clusters of "hot spots" to target risk populations.

Remediation is an essential gatekeeping responsibility, yet counselor education lacks consensus on the best way to approach student remediation. We used Q methodology to explore the remediation practices of 28 counselor educators employed full-time in accredited university programs. Four factors emerged: Due Process, Reflective Practice, Remedial Coursework, and Preserve Programmatic Status.

There is a paucity of counselling scholarship investigating the trends in writing about Black life and experiences in the US. The purpose of this study was to explore the topics and themes of the articles related to Black Americans, published in American Counseling Association (ACA)-affiliated journals over a span of 24 years. Accordingly, we conducted a content analysis of both conceptual and empirical articles. A total of 348 articles focusing on Black Americans were categorised into the following content areas: frequency of publications by journal and year, target populations, methodologies and topics of interest. Based on the results, we have suggested strengths and limitations of the current scholarship focused on Black Americans. Implications for professional counsellors and research are discussed. Despite evidence that remediation is effective, little is known about counselor educators' experience with remediation. In this consensual qualitative study, authors interviewed counselor educators ( N=11) to better understand remedial practices and identify effective strategies.
