Abstract

Metal–Organic Polymers (MOPs) have attracted growing attention for lithium-ion battery (LIB) applications due to their merits in orderly ionic transportation and robust structure stability in electrochemical reactions. However, they suffer from poor electronic conductivity. In this work, we apply first-principles density functional theory to explore the potential of three one-dimensional (1D) electrically conductive C6H2S4TM (TM = Fe, Co, and Ni) MOPs with the π–d conjugated coordination as anode materials for Li+ ions storage. Our theoretical results reveal that these 1D MOPs possess a superior theoretical capacity of over 748 mA h g−1. In particular, the 1D C6H2S4Ni MOP shows an exceptional theoretical specific capacity of 1110 mA h g−1 based on the three-electron transferring reaction, which significantly outperforms the traditional graphite-based anode material in LIBs. Moreover, the resonant charge transfer between Ni metal and ligand within the 1D C6H2S4Ni MOP reduces the diffusion energy barrier of the Li atoms when they migrate on the surface of the MOP. The ultrahigh theoretical specific capacity of the C6H2S4Ni MOP predicts that it can be a promising anode material for LIBs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate deep learning (DL)-enabled signal demodulation methods and establish the first open dataset of real modulated signals for wireless communication systems. Specifically, we propose a flexible communication prototype platform for measuring real modulation dataset. Then, based on the measured dataset, two DL-based demodulators, called deep belief network (DBN)-support vector machine (SVM) demodulator and adaptive boosting (AdaBoost) based demodulator, are proposed. The proposed DBN-SVM based demodulator exploits the advantages of both DBN and SVM, i.e., the advantage of DBN as a feature extractor and SVM as a feature classifier. In DBN-SVM based demodulator, the received signals are normalized before being fed to the DBN network. Furthermore, an AdaBoost based demodulator is developed, which employs the $k$-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) as a weak classifier to form a strong combined classifier. Finally, experimental results indicate that the proposed DBN-SVM based demodulator and AdaBoost based demodulator are superior to the single classification method using DBN, SVM, and maximum likelihood (MLD) based demodulator.

Abstract

Telomeres, repetitive sequences located at the extremities of chromosomes, play a pivotal role in sustaining chromosomal stability. Telomerase is a complex enzyme that can elongate telomeres by appending telomeric repeats to chromosome ends and acts as a critical factor in telomere dynamics. The gradual shortening of telomeres over time is a hallmark of cellular senescence and cellular death. Notably, telomere shortening appears to result from the complex interplay of two primary mechanisms: telomere shelterin complexes and telomerase activity. The intricate interplay of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle influences can perturb telomere replication, incite oxidative stress damage, and modulate telomerase activity, collectively resulting in shifts in telomere length. This age-related process of telomere shortening plays a considerable role in various chronic inflammatory and oxidative stress conditions, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and rheumatic disease. Existing evidence has shown that abnormal telomere shortening or telomerase activity abnormalities are present in the pathophysiological processes of most rheumatic diseases, including different disease stages and cell types. The impact of telomere shortening on rheumatic diseases is multifaceted. This review summarizes the current understanding of the link between telomere length and rheumatic diseases in clinical patients and examines probable telomere shortening in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and histiocytes. Therefore, understanding the intricate interaction between telomere shortening and various rheumatic diseases will help in designing personalized treatment and control measures for rheumatic disease. Abstract

Background This study aims to address challenges in dental pulp regeneration therapy. The heterogeneity of DPSCs poses challenges, especially in stem cell transplantation for clinical use, particularly when sourced from donors of different ages and conditions. Methods Pseudotime analysis was employed to analyze single-cell sequencing data, and immunohistochemical studies were conducted to investigate the expression of fibronectin 1 (FN1). We performed in vitro sorting of PDGFRβ+ DPSCs using flow cytometry. A series of functional assays, including cell proliferation, scratch, and tube formation assays, were performed to experimentally validate the vasculogenic capabilities of the identified PDGFRβ+ DPSC subset. Furthermore, gene-edited mouse models were utilized to demonstrate the importance of PDGFRβ+ DPSCs. Transcriptomic sequencing was conducted to compare the differences between PDGFRβ+ DPSCs and P1-DPSCs. Results Single-cell sequencing analysis unveiled a distinct subset, PDGFRβ+ DPSCs, characterized by significantly elevated FN1 expression during dental pulp development. Subsequent cell experiments demonstrated that this subset possesses remarkable abilities to promote HUVEC proliferation, migration, and tube formation. Gene-edited mouse models confirmed the vital role of PDGFRβ+ DPSCs in dental pulp development. Transcriptomic sequencing and in vitro experiments demonstrated that the PDGFR/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway is a crucial factor mediating the proliferation rate and pro-angiogenic properties of PDGFRβ+ DPSCs. Conclusion We defined a new subset, PDGFRβ+ DPSCs, characterized by strong proliferative activity and pro-angiogenic capabilities, demonstrating significant clinical translational potential.
