Abstract

We apply the shell-model wave-functions of $^{76}Ge$ to calculate the nuclear matrix elements and the half-life of the $2\nu\beta\beta$ decay in $^{76}Ge$. Our result is comparable to the recent observed $2\nu\beta\beta$-decay half-life of $^{76}Ge$. Furthemore it provides the upper limit of the effective neutrino mass is about 0.4 eV from the recent experimental data of the $0\nu\beta\beta$-decay half-life., Comment: 6 pages

8. A Phenomenological Expression for Deuteron Electromagnetic Form Factors Based on Perturbative QCD Predictions

Abstract

For deuteron electromagnetic form factors,perturbative QCD(pQCD) predicts that $G^{+}_{00}$ becomes the dominate helicity amplitude and that $G^{+}_{+0}$ and $G^{+}_{+-}$ are suppressed by factors $\Lambda_{\rm QCD}/Q$ and $\Lambda_{\rm QCD}^2/Q^2$ at large $Q^2$,respectively. We try to discuss the higher order corrections beyond the pQCD asymptotic predictions by interpolating an analytical form to the intermediate energy region. From fitting the data,our results show that the helicity-zero to zero matrix element $G^{+}_{00}$ dominates the gross structure function $A(Q^2)$ in both of the large and intermediate energy regions; it is a good approximation for $G^{+}_{+-}$ to ignore the higher order contributions and the higher order corrections to $G^{+}_{+0}$ should be taken into account due to sizeable contributions in the intermediate energy region., Comment: 9 pages,3 figures

9. Narrow width of a glueball decay into two mesons

Abstract

The widths of a glueball decay to two pions or kaons are analyzed in the pQCD framework. Our results show that the glueball ground state has small branching ratio for two-meson decay mode, which is around $10^{-2}$. The predicted values are consistent with the data of $\xi\to\pi\pi, KK$ if $\xi$ particle is a $2^{++}$ glueball. Applicability of pQCD to the glueball decay and comparison with $\chi_{cJ}$ decay are also discussed., Comment: 12 pages, revtex, 2 ps figures

Abstract

The contributions of helicity-flip matrix elements to the deuteron form factors are discussed in the light-cone frame. Normalized $A(Q^2)$, $B(Q^2)$, $G_Q(Q^2)$ and $T_{20}$ are obtained in a simple QCD-inspired model. We find that $G_{+-}^+$ plays an important role in $G_Q(Q^2)$. 19. Optimised architecture-based grading system as an independent prognostic factor in resected lung adenocarcinoma

Abstract

AimsConsidering morphological heterogeneity of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and no objective prognostic grading system existing currently, we aim to establish an ‘optimised architecture-based grading system’ (OAGS) to predict prognosis for resected LUAD.MethodsA multicentral study involving three independent cohorts of LUAD was conducted. Predictive ability of the OAGS for recurrence-free probability (RFP) and overall survival (OS) was assessed in training cohort (n=228) by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), Harrell’s concordance index (C-index) and Kaplan-Meier survival analyses, which was validated in testing (n=135) and validation (n=226) cohorts.ResultsThe OAGS consists of: grade 1 for lepidic, papillary or acinar predominant tumour with no or less than 5% of high-grade patterns (cribriform, solid and or micropapillary), grade 2 for lepidic, papillary or acinar predominant tumour with 5% or more of high-grade patterns, and grade 3 for cribriform, solid or micropapillary predominant tumour. In all stages, the OAGS outperformed the pattern-dominant grading system and IASLC grading system for predicting RFP (C-index, 0.649; AUC, 0.742) and OS (C-index, 0.685; AUC, 0.754). Multivariate analysis identified it as an independent predictor of both (RFP, p<0.001; OS, p<0.001). Furthermore, in pT1-2aN0M0 subgroup, the OAGS maintained its ability to predict recurrence (C-index, 0.699; AUC, 0.769) and stratified patients into different risk groups of RFP (p<0.001). These results were confirmed in testing and validation cohorts.ConclusionsThe OAGS is an independent prognostic factor and shows a robust ability to predict prognosis for resected LUAD.

Abstract

Objectives: Postconditioning with sevoflurane has been shown to protect against focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury. However, the mechanism remains elusive. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that mitochondrial ATP-sensitive potassium (mitoKATP) and mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) play roles in the neuroprotection of postconditioning with sevoflurane. Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to MCAO for 90 minutes and then treated with sevoflurane at the beginning of reperfusion. The infarct volume, neurological deficit score, and brain edema were evaluated at 24 hours. Apoptosis were studied by TUNEL. The neuroprotective effect with or without 5-hydroxydecanoate (5-HD), a selective mitoKATP channel blocker or atractyloside (ATR), and an mPTP opener were analyzed. Results: Postconditioning with sevoflurane significantly decreased neurological deficit scores, infarct volume, and brain edema and also reduced apoptotic cells. 5-HD and ATR abolished the neuroprotective effect, respectively. 5-HD or ATR alone had no effect on ischemia and reperfusion injury. Discussion: Our data suggest that mitoKATP and mPTP play crucial roles in the neuroprotection of postconditioning with sevoflurane. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

41. P16INK4ais not a Reliable Screening Marker of HPV Infection in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Evidence from a Meta-Analysis

Abstract

Background The role of p16INK4aas a surrogate marker for screening human papillomavirus (HPV) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains controversial.Methods A comprehensive search of EMBASE, PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and China Biology Medicine was performed from inception to December 27, 2015. A random-effects model was applied to the pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs).Results Ten studies were identified (985 cases). The pooled results showed no significant relationship between p16INK4aexpression and HPV infection in ESCC based on overall HPV types (OR: 1.79, 95% CI: 0.69-4.66, p = 0.235). Subgroup analysis by HPV detection method showed no statistical significance in either the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (OR: 1.65, 95% CI: 0.83-3.30, p = 0.154) or in situ hybridization (ISH) group (OR: 2.58, 95% CI: 0.03-268.14, p = 0.689). The pooled OR of the sensitivity analysis ranged from 1.27 (95% CI: 0.58-2.84) to 2.32 (95% CI: 0.95-5.64). Of these studies, 6 involved only high-risk human papillomavirus types (HR-HPV), HPV16 or HPV18. However, similar observations were made for HR-HPV (OR = 1.31, 95% CI: 0.26-6.59, p = 0.741). Subgroup analysis again showed no statistical significance in the PCR group (OR: 0.95, 95% CI: 0.25-3.64, p = 0.940) and ISH group (OR: 2.58, 95% CI: 0.03-268.14, p = 0.689). Sensitivity analysis showed that the pooled OR ranged from 0.69 (95% CI: 0.21-2.22) to 1.89 (95% CI: 0.33-10.86).Conclusions p16INK4ais not a reliable screening marker of HPV infection in ESCC. Further multicenter, large-sample and well-matched prospective studies are still required to illuminate the possible etiological roles of HPV in ESCC.

A 1D solvent-free energetic coordination polymer [Zn 3 (μ 3 -OH) 2 (att) 4 ] n 1 (Hatt = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol) was obtained and structurally characterized. Compound 1 displays competitive energetic performance and low mechanical sensitivity, which demonstrates 1 has the potential application in insensitive energetic material. [Display omitted] • A new 1D solvent-free energetic coordination polymer [Zn 3 (μ 3 -OH) 2 (att) 4 ] n 1 (Hatt = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol) was obtained. • The energetic polymer 1 possesses high enthalpy of formation, low mechanical sensitivity and relatively high decomposition temperature. • This work provides an effective method for increasing the oxygen content of energetic compounds. It is a challenge to increase the oxygen content with maintaining the mechanical sensitivity of the energetic materials. In this work, the 1D solvent-free energetic coordination polymer [Zn 3 (μ 3 -OH) 2 (att) 4 ] n 1 (Hatt = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol) was obtained in alkaline solution through a simple hydrothermal reaction. The X -ray crystallographic analysis indicates that there are two hydroxyl ions embedded in the three Zn(II) atoms through strong coordination bonds, which can provide a strategy for improving the oxygen content of energetic compounds. In addition, the energetic polymer 1 possesses high enthalpy of formation (2012.700 kJ·mol−1), low mechanical sensitivity (IS > 40 J, FS > 360 N) and relatively high decomposition temperature (235 °C). Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the Λ-N interaction by using the meson exchange theory. We have considered four processes:l) Single K meson exchange, 2) Single η and single ω meson exchange, 3) Box diagrams of 2π and πρ exchanges with the intermediate states of ΣN, and 4) Box diagrams of 2π and πρ exchanges with the intermediate states of ΣΔ. For simplicity, the zero initial momentum approximation and the closure approximation have been taken in the calculation. The results are reasonable and consistent with experimental data. Especially for the cases of and , the theoretica1 spectra of and are in good agreement with experimental data.
