Recently, women entrepreneurship has become of particular interest to corporate social responsibility (CSR) scholarship, however, little is known about the impact of crises on women's business activities and how they adapt to the disruptions and new market realities caused by a crisis. To design CSR initiatives that genuinely cater to the needs of women entrepreneurs, it is imperative to acquire an in-depth understanding of their unique experiences during times of crisis. This study employed a qualitative methodology to investigate the development of resilience among women entrepreneurs amidst crisis. The study sample comprised Iranian women entrepreneurs who were operating health-related businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to challenges related to money, market, management, motherhood, macro and meso level factors, women entrepreneurs were found to face crisis related challenges such as emotional exhaustion, altruism, fear of failure and uncertainty. Additionally, the findings revealed the different problem-based and emotion-based coping strategies (e.g., bootstrapping and emotional regulation) that women entrepreneurs used to build entrepreneurial resilience as well as business resilience. The resultant findings offer a comprehensive understanding of women entrepreneurs' resilience-building process and suggest that resilience-building is a contextual as well as a gendered phenomenon. Implications for entrepreneurship research as well as women entrepreneurship and ethics literature is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research examined women entrepreneurs’ social capital in their different life stages. The main hypothesis is that women would have different levels and forms of social capital as they move from one stage to another in their lives in a professional cycle. We observe emotional support and encouragement from the environment, and instrumental social capital, through which the entrepreneur accesses information, business partners, and other resources relevant to her entrepreneurial process. A survey was emailed to a sample of women’s businesses detected with the help of an algorithm in a business register. Finally, there were 340 fully answered questionnaires collected for the statistical analysis that utilized Levene’s F-test to confirm equality of variances, followed by Tukey’s post hoc test. Otherwise, Tamhane’s test does not assume equality of variances. Based on the study results, we could not confirm that motherhood, which includes parenting, being a wife, and being a housewife, has different impacts on women entrepreneurs in different life stages. We also cannot support the hypothesis that there is a difference in the importance of social networks. However, our research confirmed the difference in the importance of parental influence and the influence of friends and acquaintances on their entrepreneurial journey.

- Abstract
In the business world, the emergence of woman entrepreneurs has prompted a new outlook. Women entrepreneurship is inextricably linked with societal and financial benefits. The women’s participation in entrepreneurial activities is limited. The challenge of gender gap in entrepreneurship is present universal across countries. Coughlin and Thomas (2002) defined women entrepreneurs as the women taking ownership for establishing, accomplishing the capital of the enterprise and face all risks for the financial growth. Munshi et al. (2011) stated that initiation of innovative activities towards business endeavours which facilitate economic empowerment and societal betterment of women is labelled as women entrepreneurship. The five year plan of India has embraced various approaches to promote women entrepreneurs. The seventh economic census of India documented that among the women entrepreneurs, 34.3 percent were involved in agricultural activities and 65.7 percent were non-agricultural entrepreneurs. The various schemes promoted by Indian ministry for promoting women entrepreneurs are Rashtriya Mahila Kosh, E-Haat, STEP, Nari Shakti Puraskar scheme and working women hostel scheme. Despite the various initiatives, the percentage of women entrepreneurs remains low in India. The author of the present study has conducted a systematic review of literature to understand the challenges in promoting women entrepreneurship in India. A review was conducted on the short list of 20 published research articles. A systematic method was used for conducting the review. The content analyses of the research articles were done using the review questions and data were extracted. Critical appraisal was done on the content and the salient highlights were documented. The author concludes that the major challenges faced were gender discrimination, conflict between work and family life, strain to raise capital, inadequate infrastructure, lack of education and training, lack of skills in managing risk and marketing, lack of stability in the business and the environment, scaling up the business, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Networks can help entrepreneurs to strengthen their businesses. This research seeks to understand the route to institutionalization taken by an entrepreneurial network – the Conselho da Mulher Executiva (Council of Executive Women) which is part of a Commercial Association. A qualitative methodology was used, conducted in a Commercial and Industrial Association in the State of Parana. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document research. The results indicate that the route taken by the Council provided the woman entrepreneurs with: a) knowledge, at the time the Council was formalized; b) visibility, in the consolidation phase, and, c) effects on social identity, at the stage when it was institutionalized. However, when the Council became weakened within the Association, this resulted in (de)institutionalization, and the distancing and disconnection of its members. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper investigates the barriers that immigrant woman entrepreneurs (IWEs) face in starting their firms, and the strategies they use to overcome them. The study interviewed seven IWEs in Skåne, Sweden to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences. The study uses a theoretical framework that focuses on gender, family, culture, social and human capital and the institutional barriers as the basis for the investigation. The findings suggest that IWEs faced these six main barriers when start their businesses to varying degrees. The study also found that the participants used an array of strategies to mitigate those barriers. Strategies employed were influenced by many factors, including the sector in which the business operated, the cultural background of the entrepreneurs and personal resources. One of the most interesting finding in this study is that language often surfaced when discussing other barriers, such as social capital, human capital, cultural and institution barriers. This implies that language should play a more prominent role in the discussion of barriers faced by IWEs in order to foster a deeper and nuanced understanding of the challenges and successes as they launch their firms.

International aid flows are equivalent to almost half of Solomon Islands' economy, making it one of the most aid-dependent countries in the world. Around US$250 million of non-military aid enters the country, but only 15-20 percent of this amount is spent locally through local procurement or staff expenditure. Solomon Islands are currently highly reliant on logging for export receipts, Government revenues, and employment. But existing stocks of natural forest logs are expected to be entirely exhausted by 2014. The Solomon Islands Government approached the World Bank Group to identify alternative sources of revenue, foreign exchange receipts, and employment in the absence of logging. In responding to this request, the World Bank Group has undertaken extensive analytical work examining short and medium-term prospects for economic growth in Solomon Islands, under the sources of growth project. This report contributes to the sources of growth work, and is informed by its findings. A key conclusion arising from sources of growth analysis is that aid is likely to remain a key part of the Solomon Islands economy for the near future. The existence of an international security guarantee, backed by the presence of an international peacekeeping force, is paramount for security, and investment certainty. In the absence of clear or certain alternatives to logging, and in the context of rapid population growth, current levels of service delivery will continue to depend on high levels of aid expenditure.

Ülkemizde ve dünyada özellikle son yıllarda büyük bir atılım içinde oldukları gözlemlenen kadınlar, çalışma hayatındaki ağırlıklarını gittikçe artan bir oranda hissettirmektedirler. Kadınların sahip oldukları yetenek ve becerilerini kullanabilme, bağımsız olma, esnek çalışma saatlerine sahip olabilme gibi etkenlerin de etkisiyle ücret ve maaşla çalışmak yerine büyük ölçüde kişisel birikimlerini kullanarak, aileden sermaye temin ederek veya borçlanarak kendi işlerini kurmayı tercih ettikleri görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada genel olarak Konya ilinde çeşitli sektörlerde faaliyette bulunan kadın girişimcilerin; girişimcilik özellikleri başta olmak üzere, kadın girişimcilerin genel profilinin belirlenmesi amacıyla liderlik ve motivasyon özelliklerinin ve karşılaştıkları sorunların, bu sorunların aşılmasında etkili faktörlerin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılan bir araştırmadan elde edilen bulguların istatistiksel analizi sonucu ulaşılan bulgular değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Kadın girişimcilerin iş hayatında; çalışma yaşamının kalitesine önem veren ve kalite üzerine odaklanan, yaratıcılığı, esnekliği, işletme yönetiminde insanû yaklaşımları öne çıkaran, işletmelerini yönetirken sosyal ve kültürel amaçlara finansal amaçlar kadar önem veren bir yaklaşımlar bütününe sahip oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır., The women which are in a great progress especially in last years both in our country and the world make people feel their importance in the business life increasingly. It is seen that women set up their own businesses by using their personal savings, obtaining capital from their family or getting into debt instead of working for wage since they want to use their skills, run their own business and work in flexible hours. In this study, findings obtained from the statistical analysis of data from a research made for investigating the factors affecting the women?s leadership and motivational characteristics and the problems they met in order to determine their general profile in various business sectors in Konya. According to the results of the research study, it is observed that women entrepreneurs consider the quality of working life important, focus on quality, take creativity, flexibility and humane approaches in the business administration into consideration and attach importance to the social and cultural objectives as much as financial objectives while they run their businesses.
