This article aims to examine the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic constructed by online media outlets in Indonesia as one of the primary sources of information during the crisis. It uses qualitative content analysis to determine how online media in Indonesia construct the reality of COVID-19. The country's eight most accessed online media websites are the objects of this study with a three-unit analysis: context, message, and tone. The result shows that Indonesian media coverage has predominantly emphasised the pandemic's political context over the health and economic context. Informants have predominantly been politicians; epidemiologists and scientists have been given little space. In this case, the media system in Indonesia through online news media were not able to play an optimal role in the early phases of the pandemic due to the tendency of this news construction. Fortifying salt with iodine is one of the government's strategies to achieve food and nutritional security. Iodine deficiency can hinder mental and intelligence development, affecting the quality of Human Resources. Pati Regency can contribute to strengthening food fortification with the potential of its salt-consumption SMEs. However, the test results stated that 40.70% of the salt consumption of SMEs in Pati needed to meet standards. The fortification program is implemented and integrated into the government and private sectors. Successful fulfillment of product quality by SMEs requires effective collaboration between development institutions and business actors and good coordination between the development institutions. Institutional design contributes to the collaboration process that occurs. This research aims to analyze the institutional design and problems in collaboration with development actors to develop consumer salt SMEs in the Pati Regency. The research uses qualitative methods, collecting data through observation, in-depth interviews, document studies, and FGDs. The development of consumer salt SMEs in Pati Regency involves government institutions at the district level, namely the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Bappeda, at the provincial level, namely the Ministry of Industry and Trade and BBPOM in Semarang, as well as non-government organizations, namely the NGOs Nutrition International Indonesia and APROGAKOB. This article aims to analyze the implementation of digital government in handling the Covid-19 Pandemic in Indonesia from a public communication perspective. The three units of analysis that build this article are technology, transparency, and collaboration & integration. A systems approach is used to analyze data collected through searching government policy documents, various relevant webinars, as well as online media reporting data that captures the dynamics of digital governance problems during the year the pandemic lasted. This article finds that the problem of digital government in handling the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia is a complex in terms of technology, transparency, and collaboration/integration. From a public communication and system perspective, the findings of this article in all aspects show a portrait of a digital government system in Indonesia that is not yet robust and adaptive enough. This article is of a comparative study of social adaptation in the Cyclone Winston disaster case in Fiji and rob flooding in Semarang, Indonesia. In February 2016, the largest tropical storm in the Southern Hemisphere, Cyclone Winston, struck Fiji and caused severe damage and loss of life. Meanwhile, in the last two decades flooding has become an increasingly acute disaster situation in Semarang and the northern coastal region of Java, Indonesia. Communities in the path of both these disasters are the ones who suffer most. Social adaptation is important to consider in these two cases to encourage improved future mitigation and adaptation efforts. Data was collected from interviews and documents in the form of news media articles and previous research reports relevant to tropical disasters and the impact of climate change. The results show that social adaptation to both types of disasters is not identical due to the characteristics of the two different disasters and the different social, economic, political and cultural contexts in Fiji and Indonesia. This article aims to analyze multi-layered communication responses to maritime disasters in Indonesia using two significant cases, namely the tidal flooding in Semarang and the tsunami in Banda Aceh. Reducing the risk of disaster is not only a technical matter but also strongly associated with communication issues. Therefore, there has been much research into disaster communication. However, research on multi-layered communication responses to diverse disasters must still be done. Data were collected through interviews with the people, journalists, and government officials in Semarang and Banda Aceh. These data were complemented by field observations and reviews of local media news and government policies. The results show that communication response in the two regions involved a complex triangle of science, religion, and politics. This means that the community, media, and government of these regions communicated these two types of disasters as involving science, religion, and politics to varying degrees. This article also finds that the local media was unable to optimally play its central role as an intermediary actor in disaster communication in the two regions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Community-Based Tourism has been a controversial phenomenon since its inception. This research uses a qualitative approach. Media framing analysis was used to discuss and analyse how news media reported the CBT phenomenon in Magelang and how this concept can be developed sustainably. After that, confirmation through in-depth interviews and FGDs were conducted to see the interactive discourse between individuals and society in an increasingly complex environment and see how they influence each other. Based on the analysis, an ecosystem framework is proposed to show the underlying structure of the CBT concept. The findings show that CBT narratives are interpreted and understood in different ways, and this depends on the structural position of each element, including the government, strategic partners, and the media. Purpose: This paper is mainly focused on labor migration from Southeast Asia to Taiwan, showing a route of south–south mobility and discussing the causes of migrant workers in Taiwan, the issues faced by migrant workers as well as public response to migrant workers. Design/methodology/approach: Besides a literate review on the topic of migrant worker researches in Taiwan, the data for this research was also based on qualitative interviews and observations conducted both in the fieldwork in Taiwan and in Indonesia between June and August during the summer of 2018. Findings: The transnational mobility let many migrants from Southeast Asian countries to Taiwan end up losing their cultural capital and "make money" instead. For these migrants, they have experienced a downward social mobility of class through transnational mobility. Research limitations/implications: Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability. More migrant laborers from various origin countries were encouraged to include for further research. Practical implications: Labor migration cases from Southeast Asia to Taiwan could very well serve as good examples in the carrying out of a reflection on the limit of focusing on social science only inside nation-states in order to push a forward thinking on the transnationalization of social inequality. Originality/value: This paper calls attention to the close linkage between transnational mobility and social inequality. Haze, driven by peatland fires, has been a dangerous ecological problem in Indonesia that has affected its social system and impacted the air of countries in Southeast Asia. As Niklas Luhmann explained, the social system could be disturbed by ecological problems, but its subsystems can also be seen in media discourses. This study, thus, aims to analyze the discourses presented in two local Indonesian media, Riau Pos and Pontianak Pos, about the haze disaster. Critical discourse analysis was used to analyze the discourses that are representative of subsystems. We also analyzed the correlation between discourses and peatland fires. The results show that there are nine subsystems affected by the haze disaster: economy, politics, law, science, education, religion, art, public health, and volunteerism. Of these, politics is predominant in the local Indonesian media. In addition, the number of discourses is in line with the fluctuation of hotspots. To conclude, the haze problems can be seen by understanding the discourses in local mass media that have described which subsystem is constructing the social system. Therefore, this study suggests decreasing the domination of politics and increase the role of other subsystems, particularly the subsystem of law, science, and education in the Indonesian social system.
