Abstract: A massless particle beyond the Standard Model is searched for in the two-body decay Σ+→p+invisible using (1.0087±0.0044)×1010 J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.097GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Σ+→p+invisible) is determined to be 3.2×10−5 at the 90% confidence level. This is the first search for a flavor-changing neutral current process with missing energy in hyperon decays which plays an important role in constraining new physics models.

2. Microstructure and wear property of WMoTaNb refractory high entropy alloy coating by laser cladding

Abstract: WMoTaNb refractory high entropy alloy (RHEA) coating was prepared successfully by laser cladding. The coating is a composite structure composed of BCC1 and BCC2 structural HEA with some tiny intermetallic compound (IMC). The surface EBSD results indicates that the BCC1 has a strong (0001) texture with the intensity of 63.96. BCC2 possesses higher content of solute atoms, such as Nb, Mo, Ta, W, than that in BCC1, resulting in the formation of higher KAM mean value in BCC2, which indicates BCC2 has greater stresses and strains than that of the BCC1. Large numbers of LAGBs and dislocation lines are found to exist in BCC2, while little LAGBs and dislocation can be seen in BCC1. The interfaces between BCC1/BCC2, BCC1/IMC- and coating/substrate were analyzed using TEM. By calculating the lattice mismatch of each phase interface, it can be seen that typical incoherent characteristics are presented in each interface and large stress-strain is existed within the RHEA coating by laser cladding. The microhardness value of the laser cladded WMoTaNb coating is 551 HV0.2, which is much higher than that of the substrate due to the dislocations interaction and solid solution strengthening in the coating. The friction coefficient of laser cladded WMoTaNb RHEA coating is in the range of 0.55–0.6 at room temperature, while the friction coefficient at 800 °C increases to the range of 0.8–1.3. The dissolution of Fe atoms deteriorates the wear performance of the coating at high temperature.

Abstract: The spin and parity of the charmed mesons Ds⁎+, D⁎0 and D⁎+ are determined for the first time to be JP=1− with significances greater than 10σ over other hypotheses of 2+ and 3−, using an e+e− collision data sample with an integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178 GeV. Different spin-parity hypotheses are tested via a helicity amplitude analysis of the processes e+e−→Ds⁎+Ds−, D⁎0D0 and D⁎+D−, with Ds⁎+→Ds+γ, D⁎0→D0π0, and D⁎+→D+π0. The results confirm the quark model predictions.

Abstract: We search for the semi-leptonic decays Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe and Λc+→pKS0π−e+νe in a sample of 4.5fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected in the center-of-mass energy region between 4.600GeV and 4.699GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the decay branching fractions are set to be B(Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe)

Abstract: Abstract Using 448.1 × 106 ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e + e − storage rings, the branching fractions and angular distributions of the decays χ cJ → Ξ − Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ + and Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 (J = 0, 1, 2) are measured based on a partial-reconstruction technique. The decays χ c1 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 and χ c2 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 7σ and 15σ, respectively. The results of this analysis are in good agreement with previous measurements and have significantly improved precision.

Abstract: We report a search for a dark photon using 14.9 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from 4.13 to 4.60 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring. The dark photon is assumed to be produced in the radiative annihilation process of e+e− and to predominantly decay into light dark matter particles, which escape from the detector undetected. The mass range from 1.5 to 2.9 GeV is scanned for the dark photon candidate, and no significant signal is observed. The mass dependent upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the coupling strength parameter ϵ for a dark photon coupling with an ordinary photon vary between 1.6×10−3 and 5.7×10−3.

Abstract: We search for an axion-like particle (ALP) a through the process ψ(3686)→π+π−J/ψ, J/ψ→γa, a→γγ in a data sample of (2.71±0.01)×109 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector. No significant ALP signal is observed over the expected background, and the upper limits on the branching fraction of the decay J/ψ→γa and the ALP-photon coupling constant gaγγ are set at 95% confidence level in the mass range of 0.165≤ma≤2.84GeV/c2. The limits on B(J/ψ→γa) range from 8.3×10−8 to 1.8×10−6 over the search region, and the constraints on the ALP-photon coupling are the most stringent to date for 0.165≤ma≤1.468GeV/c2.

Abstract: The Born cross sections of e+e−→Σ0Σ¯0 are measured at center-of-mass energies from 2.3864 to 3.0200 GeV using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 328.5 pb−1 collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The analysis makes use of a novel reconstruction method for energies near production threshold, while a single-tag method is employed at other center-of-mass energies. The measured cross sections are consistent with earlier results from BaBar, with a substantially improved precision. The cross-section lineshape can be well described by a perturbative QCD-driven energy function. In addition, the effective form factors of the Σ0 baryon are determined. The results provide precise experimental input for testing various theoretical predictions.

Abstract: Using e+e− collision data at ten center-of-mass energies between 2.644 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 500 pb−1, we measure the cross sections and effective form factors for the process e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 utilizing a single-tag method. A fit to the cross section of e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 with a pQCD-driven power function is performed, from which no significant resonance or threshold enhancement is observed. In addition, the ratio of cross sections for the processes e+e−→Ξ−Ξ¯+ and Ξ0Ξ¯0 is calculated using recent BESIII measurement and is found to be compatible with expectation from isospin symmetry.

Abstract: Using 5.9 pb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies from 3.640 to 3.701 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII Collider, we measure the observed cross sections of e+e−→KS0X (where X=anything). From a fit to these observed cross sections with the sum of continuum and ψ(3686) and J/ψ Breit-Wigner functions and considering initial state radiation and the BEPCII beam energy spread, we obtain for the first time the product of ψ(3686) leptonic width and inclusive decay branching fraction Γψ(3686)eeB(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(373.8±6.7±20.0) eV, and assuming Γψ(3686)ee is (2.33±0.04) keV from PDG value, we measure B(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(16.04±0.29±0.90)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: Based on 586 pb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of s=4.6GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the absolute branching fraction of Λc+→pKS0η decays is measured for the first time to be B(Λc+→pKS0η)=(0.414±0.084±0.028)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The result is compatible with a previous CLEO result on the relative branching fraction B(Λc+→pKS0η)B(Λc+→pK−π+), and consistent with theoretical predictions of SU(3) flavor symmetry.

Abstract: The electromagnetic process e+e−→pp¯ is studied with the initial-state-radiation technique using 7.5 fb−1 of data collected by the BESIII experiment at seven energy points from 3.773 to 4.600 GeV. The Born cross section and the effective form factor of the proton are measured from the production threshold to 3.0 GeV/c2 using the pp¯ invariant-mass spectrum. The ratio of electric and magnetic form factors of the proton is determined from the analysis of the proton-helicity angular distribution.

Abstract: The Born cross sections of the e+e−→Σ+Σ¯− and e+e−→Σ−Σ¯+ processes are determined for center-of-mass energy from 2.3864 to 3.0200 GeV with the BESIII detector. The cross section lineshapes can be described properly by a pQCD function and the resulting ratio of effective form factors for the Σ+ and Σ− is consistent with 3. In addition, ratios of the Σ+ electric and magnetic form factors, |GE/GM|, are obtained at three center-of-mass energies through an analysis of the angular distributions. These measurements, which are studied for the first time in the off-resonance region, provide precision experimental input for understanding baryonic structure. The observed new features of the Σ± form factors require more theoretical discussions for the hyperons.

The results obtained in this work are consistent with previous measurements but with improved precision. Two resonant structures are observed. In the e+e−→ωη cross sections, a resonance with a mass of (2176±24±3)MeV/c2 and a width of (89±50±5)MeV is observed with a significance of 6.2σ. Its properties are consistent with the ϕ(2170). In the e+e−→ωπ0 cross sections, a resonance denoted Y(2040) is observed with a significance of more than 10σ. Its mass and width are determined to be (2034±13±9)MeV/c2 and (234±30±25)MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic.

Abstract: In Ref. [1] the BESIII collaboration published a cross section measurement of the process e+e−→π+π− in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV. In this corrigendum, we report a corrected evaluation of the statistical errors in terms of a fully propagated covariance matrix. The correction also yields a reduced statistical uncertainty for the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, which now reads as aμππ,LO(600−900MeV)=(368.2±1.5stat±3.3syst)×10−10. The central values of the cross section measurement and of aμππ,LO, as well as the systematic uncertainties remain unchanged.

Abstract: We report a search for a dark photon using $14.9$~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from 4.13 to 4.60~GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring. The dark photon is assumed to be produced in the radiative annihilation process of $e^+e^-$ and to predominantly decay into light dark matter particles, which escape from the detector undetected. The mass range from 1.5 to 2.9~GeV is scanned for the dark photon candidate, and no significant signal is observed. The mass dependent upper limits at the 90$\%$ confidence level on the coupling strength parameter $\epsilon$ for a dark photon coupling with an ordinary photon vary between $1.6\times 10^{-3}$ and $5.7\times10^{-3}$., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

17. Role of carbon in modifying solidification and microstructure of a Ni-based superalloy with high Al and Ti contents

Abstract: The effect of carbon ranging from 0.014 to 0.071 wt.% on the solidification and microstructure of a Ni-based superalloy with high Al and Ti contents was studied. The results show that the increase in carbon addition significantly increases the size and volume fraction of MC carbides and promotes the change of their morphology from blocky to elongated shape. However, the carbon addition obviously decreases the size and volume fraction of eutectic (γ + γ′) and reduces η phase and borides formation. The change in carbide characteristics is mainly because of the increasing carbide-forming element and carbides precipitation temperature with the increase in carbon which favors the growth of them along the interdendritic liquid film. MC carbides are formed at an earlier solidification stage than the eutectic (γ + γ′). The increased carbide formation consumes more Ti, which delays and reduces the eutectic (γ + γ′) precipitation. The delay of eutectic (γ + γ′) precipitation leads to a deeper undercooling, which significantly decreases the critical Ti concentration for its precipitation. This, in turn, lowers Ti/Al ratio in residual liquids ahead of the eutectic (γ + γ′) and hence reduces η formation subsequently. B and Zr are slightly enriched in the carbides, which are considered during discussing how carbon influences the eutectic (γ + γ′) precipitation.

Abstract: High fidelity and effective adaptive changes of the cell and tissue metabolism to changing environments requires strict coordination of numerous biological processes. Multicellular organisms developed sophisticated signaling systems of monitoring and responding to these different contexts. Among these systems, oxygenated lipids play a significant role realized via a variety of re-programming mechanisms. Some of them are enacted as a part of pro-survival pathways that eliminate harmful or unnecessary molecules or organelles by a variety of degradation/hydrolytic reactions or specialized autophageal processes. When these “partial” intracellular measures are insufficient, the programs of cells death are triggered with the aim to remove irreparably damaged members of the multicellular community. These regulated cell death mechanisms are believed to heavily rely on signaling by a highly diversified group of molecules, oxygenated phospholipids (PLox). Out of thousands of detectable individual LPox species, redox phospholipidomics deciphered several specific molecules that seem to be diagnostic of specialized death programs. Oxygenated cardiolipins (CLs) and phosphatidylethanolamines (PEs) have been identified as predictive biomarkers of apoptosis and ferroptosis, respectively. This has led to decoding of the enzymatic mechanisms of their formation involving mitochondrial oxidation of CLs by cytochrome c and endoplasmic reticulum-associated oxidation of PE by lipoxygenases. Understanding of the specific biochemical radical-mediated mechanisms of these oxidative reactions opens new avenues for the design and search of highly specific regulators of cell death programs. This review emphasizes the usefulness of such selective lipid peroxidation mechanisms in contrast to the concept of random poorly controlled free radical reactions as instruments of non-specific damage of cells and their membranes. Detailed analysis of two specific examples of phospholipid oxidative signaling in apoptosis and ferroptosis along with their molecular mechanisms and roles in reprogramming has been presented.

Abstract: Using 5.9 pb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies from 3.640 to 3.701 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII Collider, we measure the observed cross sections of e+e−→KS0X (where X=anything). From a fit to these observed cross sections with the sum of continuum and ψ(3686) and J/ψ Breit-Wigner functions and considering initial state radiation and the BEPCII beam energy spread, we obtain for the first time the product of ψ(3686) leptonic width and inclusive decay branching fraction Γψ(3686)eeB(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(373.8±6.7±20.0) eV, and assuming Γψ(3686)ee is (2.33±0.04) keV from PDG value, we measure B(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(16.04±0.29±0.90)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Extreme waves often are attributed to the process of wave focusing. Coastal structures such as bridges are highly susceptible to extreme waves and have caused substantial damage to coastal infrastructure in the past. Although impacts of various types of waves on coastal bridges have been studied in the past, hydrodynamic loads on bridge deck under the impact of extreme waves have not yet been investigated. This work adds to the existing body of work by systematically carrying out numerical investigations on the hydrodynamic characteristics of coastal bridge decks under the impact of extreme waves generated by wave focusing. Simulations were carried out by creating a numerical wave tank (NWT) using the open-source flow solver REEF3D, which numerically solves the governing equations of the incompressible two-phase flow on a staggered mesh and captures the interface between air and water using a high-resolution level-set method. The NWT was validated for the case of focused waves and wave impact loads on a two-dimensional (2D) rectangular cylinder in a straight channel and compared to experimental measurements. The NWT was then used to study the hydrodynamic loads of a coastal bridge deck by considering the effects of four prominent factors, i.e. submersion depth, wave height, wave period, and water depth. The findings made in this paper enhance the understanding of the damage mechanisms of coastal bridges under the impact of extreme waves.

Abstract: Attributed to the processes of wave focusing, extreme waves often occur unexpectedly with huge wave height in both deep and shallow water regions, which can cause serious damages to the coastal infrastructures, and threaten the intactness of coastal communities. Field observations after extreme weather events have revealed that as a type of natural barrier, coastal vegetations can effectively attenuate the intensity of extreme surges and waves and thus play a good role in naturally protecting the coast. Usually, focused wave is used as a typical extreme wave model to study the great impact of extreme waves on the coast. To numerically evaluate the wave attenuation of extreme waves by the emergent rigid vegetation patch, a high-resolution numerical wave tank has been established by applying the nonhydrostatic numerical wave model (NHWAVE), where both 2nd-order crest and trough focused waves can be generated by considering wave-wave interactions. The efficiencies of the rigid emergent vegetation patch in mitigating the maximum wave amplitude and total wave energy of both crest and trough focused waves as function significant wave height, peak wave period, water depth, vegetation density and width have been well analyzed and discussed. The results indicate that the emergent rigid vegetation patch can effectively reduce the maximum wave amplitude of focused wave by averagely 31% and the total wave energy by averagely 45%, thus, showing that coastal vegetation can effectively protect the coast from extreme waves. It is hoped that the research findings drawn from this study can further broaden our understanding on the wave attenuation of extreme waves by coastal vegetations.

Abstract: Coastal bridges are vulnerable to extreme surges and waves during tsunamis and hurricanes. Many of them have been significantly damaged or destroyed during past extreme weather events, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Although extensive experimental work and numerical simulations have been carried out focusing on identifying the damage mechanisms of coastal bridges impacted by extreme waves, the coastal bridge deck needs to withstand the combined actions of waves and wind. Strong winds can easily deform the water surface and influence how waves impact the coastal bridge deck and the final resultant hydrodynamic load. Hence, there is a strong need for investigating the hydrodynamic characteristics of coastal bridges under the joint action of wind and surge waves. The direct effects of wind on the hydrodynamic load of a bridge deck under the impact of extreme surge waves had not been taken into account in past studies. To fill this knowledge gap, in this paper, a high-resolution numerical wave-wind tank is established by solving the governing equations of two-phase incompressible flow using the finite volume method. The hydrodynamic load of coastal bridge deck under joint action of solitary wave and wind are numerically investigated by considering the effects of several prominent factors, i.e. wind speed, wave height, submersion depth, and water depth. The results show that strong wind can greatly enhance the impacting intensity of solitary waves on bridge deck, resulting in greater horizontal and vertical hydrodynamic loads. It is believed that findings of this study can further enhance our understanding on damage mechanism of coastal bridge decks during hurricanes.

Over the past few decades, extensive research works were conducted to study the damage mechanisms of coastal bridges under the impact of extreme surges and waves. However, these research efforts mainly focused on the hydrodynamic characteristics involved in surge waves impinging bridges. However, there has been little research on mitigation measures to protect coastal bridges. This study examines the installation of a submerged porous breakwater to protect coastal bridge decks from the impacts of solitary waves. As an environmentally friendly wave-reduction device, submerged porous breakwater structures have been widely implemented in coastal regions due to their ease of installation and cost effectiveness. To investigate the performance of the submerged porous breakwater on the hydrodynamic loads of a coastal bridge deck under the impact of a solitary wave, a high-resolution numerical wave tank is established based on an open-source flow solver REEF3D, which numerically solves the governing equations of incompressible two-phase flow on a staggered mesh arrangement and captures the interface between air and water using a high-resolution level-set method. The hydrodynamic characteristics of coastal bridge decks with the installations of submerged porous breakwater are systematically investigated by considering the effects of six prominent factors, i.e. wave height, submersion depth, water depth, permeability, spacing distance between breakwater and bridge, and aspect ratios of breakwaters. Results show that the submerged porous breakwater is effective in reducing the hydrodynamic loads applied to the coastal bridge decks under most of the situations. Therefore, it is believed that the findings drawn from this paper can further enhance our understanding on the damage mechanism of coastal bridges under extreme waves and should be instructive for future bridge designs.

Abstract: Extreme ocean surface waves generated during hurricanes or tsunamis can cause severe damage to coastal communities and infrastructures, especially coastal bridges. In this paper, installation of floating breakwater is proposed to protect coastal bridge decks against strong ocean surface waves. As an environmental-friendly wave-reduction device, floating breakwaters can be easily installed and removed before and after a storm, avoiding impacts on navigation and other coastal operations. To numerically investigate effects of a floating breakwater on the applied hydrodynamic load of a bridge deck under the impact of cnoidal waves, a high-resolution numerical wave tank (NWT) is established using the open-source flow solver REEF3D, which solves the governing equations of the incompressible two-phase flow on a staggered mesh and captures the interface between air and water using a high-resolution level-set method. Effects of prominent parameters, i.e. wave height, water depth, submersion depth, spacing distance and aspect ratio of breakwaters, on the performance of floating breakwater and reducing the hydrodynamic load on a coastal bridge deck are systematically analyzed. It is found that hydrodynamic loads of coastal bridge deck can be greatly reduced through the use of floating breakwaters. Results of this paper can further enhance our understanding on the damage mechanism of coastal bridges under extreme surge waves, and should be instructive for future bridge design.

Abstract: The wave profile of solitary wave has been widely used as a tsunami paradigm for decades to capture the main features of actual tsunamis. Since most of the fatalities were attributed to overland flow of tsunamis, the runup and rundown processes of solitary waves have been extensively studied experimentally and numerically. Comparing to previous research, this paper systematically investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of breaking solitary wave runup on a permeable sloped beach using a nonhydrostatic model. Firstly, the computational capabilities of present numerical model in predicting solitary wave runup process and flow field in permeable media are well validated with experimental data. Then, a series of computational runs have been performed to study the breaking solitary wave on permeable sloped beach. Effects of three prominent factors on the maximum runup height of breaking solitary wave are considered in detail: the thickness (B), median diameter ( d 50 ), and porosity ( n ) of the permeable layers. The porosity of the beach has a substantial impact on the flow field for breaking waves running up a sloped beach. The maximum wave runup height can be substantially reduced if the permeability of the beach is considered. It is also found that the maximum wave runup height decreases with permeable layer thickness. However, the reduction rate gradually decreases. The influences of median diameter are very limited and can be ignored. In addition, based on our results, we also proposed a new empirical formula to calculate the maximum wave runup height of breaking solitary wave on permeable sloped beach. The findings of this paper are expected to be useful for developing an improved understanding on the runup processes of breaking solitary wave on sloped beach with some permeability.

Abstract: Background Intimal hyperplasia plays an important role in vein graft stenosis. Inflammatory injury, especially nuclear factor kappaB (NF-κB) gene activation, is highly involved in stenosis progression. We examined whether neointimal hyperplasia and vein graft stenosis could be inhibited by silencing the NF-κB gene with small interference RNA (siRNA). Methods Sixty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal vein group, a vein graft group, a scrambled siRNA group, and an NF-κB siRNA group. We performed reverse interpositional grafting of the autologous external jugular vein to the abdominal aorta. Vein grafts were treated with liposome and gel complexes containing NF-κB siRNA or scrambled siRNA. The levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein -1, tumor necrosis factor-α, and NF-κB p65 in vessel tissues were evaluated after surgery for content of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and vascular wall thickness. Results NF-κB siRNA treated vein graft showed less neointimal formation and fewer positive PCNA cells (P < .05). In addition there were lower levels of, NF-κB p65 protein and of inflammatory mediators (P < .05) compared with the vein graft group. Conclusion Our study suggested that siRNA transfection suppressed NF-κB expression, reduced inflammatory factors, lessened neointimal proliferation, and suppressed PCNA.

Abstract: This study investigated the as-cast microstructure and solidification behavior of a high Al- and Nb-containing low thermal expansion IN783 alloy. By analyzing the as-cast microstructure, the quenched microstructure after soaking at high temperature and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) results, the solidification sequence of IN783 alloy was determined as follows: L → L + γ → L + γ + β → γ + β + Laves. Segregation of Al and Nb promoted the formation of Al-enriched β phase and Nb-enriched Laves phase, respectively. Several types of β and Laves phase were observed, which were believed to form by different mechanisms and at different stages during solidification.

Abstract: Compared with the conventional In 718 alloy, the addition of Al at the level of 1.24% and 1.50% greatly increases the precipitation of γ′ phase and the compact form of γ″/γ′/γ″ structure, which has been demonstrated in previous studies. The δ phase precipitation at the grain boundaries is noticeably suppressed. Large amount of Laves phase (( Fe , Ni , Cr )2( Nb , Mo )), small amount of M 7 C 3 carbide and σ phase (( Fe , Ni )( Cr , Mo , Nb )) are precipitated at the grain boundaries. After aging at 680°C, the grain boundary precipitates are increased significantly. Large amount needle-like σ phase is precipitated at the grain boundary in the alloy with 1.50% Al . After aging at 680°C for 1000h, the grain boundary precipitates are worsened further, but the coarsening of the compact form γ″/γ′/γ″ is lighter than the γ″ phase in the normal In 718 alloy. The tensile strength at room temperature and 680°C are increased due to Al increasing. While the tensile ductility and impact toughness of the alloy decrease significantly, and a sharp decrease has been found during the long term aging at 680°C. The mechanism by which Al influencing the microstructure and mechanical properties of In 718 alloy is to be discussed.

Abstract: Effects of phosphorus microalloying on the microstructure and mechanical properties of direct-aging DA761 alloy have been studied. The aim of this work is to find a new way to develop a higher performance of wrought superalloy. The optimum addition of phosphorus in DA761 alloy is determined by investigating effects of phosphorus and boron on the microstructure and properties of DA761 alloy, that are compared to GH761 alloy treated by standard heat treatment. The stability of microstructure and properties of fine-grain DA761 alloy with optimum content of phosphorus is proved by studying the evolution of microstructure and properties of the alloy after long-term high temperature ageing. The practicability of phosphorus microalloying in improving the mechanical properties of DA761 alloy is verified by smelting a 500 kg ingot and detecting the microstructure and properties of billet near the size of engine disk. The results verify the phosphorus microalloying and fine-grain direct aging treatment in improving commercial GH761 alloy. Mechanism of phosphorus microalloying is also discussed.

Abstract: The effect of direct ageing treatment on microstructure and stress-rupture properties of GH761 alloy was studied. Phosphorus was added to the tested alloy for its beneficial effect on stress-rupture life. It was found that the grain size of the tested alloy became much finer after direct ageing treatment, in comparison with the commercial GH761 alloy under standard heat treatment condition. The optimum direct ageing treatment has been determined as follows: 830 degrees C x 4 h, air cooling+720 degrees C x 24 h, air cooling. After such treatment, the higher stress-rupture properties of the test alloy at 650 degrees C, 690 MPa were obtained. The role of phosphorus is still effective under the condition of direct ageing treatment.

P also may increase the grains strength through solid solution. The beneficial effect of P and B were presented in both standard IN718 alloy and DA718 alloy. Abstract: Prolonged bleeding after needle removal post-HD sessions results in increased blood loss and prolongs waiting time between shifts in HD treatment centers. We sought to identify factors that contribute to lengthening TTH after needle removal in ESRD patients on HD in an outpatient treatment facility. TTH was determined as the average of 4 measurements in 4 separate treatment sessions. Of 163 patients consecutively studied, 120 patients had TTH or = 8 min, defined as long TTH. Clinical and laboratory variables were analyzed by the Cox's proportional hazard model. The age of long TTH pts was 62 ± 15, similar to 58 ± 13 yr in short TTH pts. Long TTH pts had been on HD for 3.0 ± 1.6 yr, significantly longer than 2.2 ± 1.7 yr in short TTH pts. Blood pressure (BP) in long TTH pts was 139 ± 19/72 ± 11, significantly higher than 129 ± 16/68 ± 9 mmHg in short TTH pts. In long TTH pts, blood flow through the HD circuit (indicated by blood pump readings), and mean venous pressure (measured at the venous bubble trap) were 448 ± 36 and 241 ± 33, respectively, significantly greater than 436 ± 30 ml/min and 220 ± 35 mmHg in short TTH pts, and positively correlated with TTH (P

Abstract: The chemical compatibility of one new series, RE 0.6 M 0.4 Mn 0.8 Co 0.2 O 3-δ (RE=La, Pr, Nd, Sm and Gd; M=Sr and Ca), with yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) has been examined. Powder mixtures of perovskites and YSZ were annealed at 1200° for 24h in air. RE 0.6 M 0.4 Mn 0.8 Co 0.2 O 3-δ showed different compatibility towards YSZ for M=Sr and Ca, respectively. The formation of SrZrO 3 was identified by X-ray diffraction analysis as a reaction product for RE 0.6 Sr 0.4 Mn 0.8 Co 0.2 O 3-δ . In contrary, there is no reaction product for RE 0.6 Ca 0.4 Mn 0.8 Co 0.2 O 3-δ . EDX analysis revealed that there is a larger difference between the solubility of Sr and Ca in YSZ. The bond-valence model was used to discuss the different compatibility of Sr and Ca series perovskites with YSZ. The present studies also showed that the formation of SrZrO 3 was favored for larger disorder effect due to size difference between A-site RE 3+ and Sr 2+ in RE 0.6 Sr 0.4 Mn 0.8 Co 0.2 O 3-δ .

The results show that 12H(SiAl 5 O 2 N 5 ) is a transitional phase during the formation of 21R. The additives Sm 2 O 3 and Nd 2 O 3 , especially combined with Al 2 O 3 can effectively promote the densification of 21R. The hardness( Hv 10 ) of 21R hot-pressed with 2.5 wt% SmAlO 3 at 1750°C/1 h is 1443 with a fracture toughness of 4.6 MPa.m 1/2 . The X-ray diffraction pattern of 21R was also determined in the present work. The revised unit cell dimensions of 21R are a =3.0461(1)A, c =56.643(3)A.

Abstract: Mechanical properties of three types of AlN-polytypoids with Ln2O3(Ln=Nd,Sm) and Ln2O3:Al2O3=1:1, respectively, as sintering additives were studied. The results showed that the hardness increased with the AlN-polytypoid compositions shifting towards AlN-rich side, that was 21R having the highest hardness (12.7–14.4 GPa) and 15R the lowest values(11.5–12.8 GPa). The fracture toughness and flexural strength had no such close relationships to the type of AlN-polytypoids, which varied in a range of 3.8–4.8 MPa·m1/2 and 313–366 MPa (at room temperature), respectively. However, for the compositions with suitable amount of additives, the flexural strength greatly increased with increasing temperatures, especially for 15R and 12H. This characteristic was discussed on the basis of the fracture morphology observed by SEM.

Abstract: The formation behavior of multi-cation α-sialons (α′) containing calcium and magnesium has been studied for the compositions M x Si 12−3 x Al 3 x O x N 16− x ( M =0.5 Ca+0.5 Mg) with x ranging from 0.3 to 1.4. It was found that the AlN-polytypoid phase coexists together with α-sialon in sintered samples when x is equal to or greater than 1.0 and the AlN-polytypoid content increases as the x -value increases. TEM results further revealed that most of the added Mg 2+ ion was incorporated into the sialons to form the magnesium AlN-polytypoid phase. The advantages of the formation of the magnesium AlN-polytypoid phase in multi-cation α-sialon materials are also discussed in this paper.
