AbstractThis paper investigates the impact of digital transformation on export reduction during COVID-19 by using unique data from Vietnamese manufacturing firms. Digital transformation reflects whether firms had already introduced digital technology before the COVID-19 outbreak or started using digital technology during the COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, an export reduction is a partial de-internationalization in which firms decrease overseas sales. Estimation results from the instrumental variable probit method show that digital transformation has a negative effect on the probability of export reduction. This effect becomes particularly strong for micro, small and medium enterprises. Our findings have managerial implications for firm managers.

The term vulnerability has been used in a variety of contexts, including climate change impact assessment. This study aimed to set up and evaluate climate change vulnerability indicators (CCVI) of agricultural zones based on exposure, sensitivity, and adaptation capacity to climate change in Ho Chi Minh city. Data from consultations with 10 experts was collected and analysed by the analysis hierarchy process (AHP). The CCVI, which includes 3 primary indicators and 22 secondary indicators, was applied to the agricultural districts in Ho Chi Minh that have been demonstrated to be the most vulnerable to climate change under both current conditions and over a longer timescales under various climate change exposure scenarios. The CCVI was weighted to support the climate change vulnerability assessment and indicate comparatively low or high climate change vulnerability areas. Finally, the areas most needy of further adaptation activities for agriculture in Ho Chi Minh city were identified.

Objective: The study analyzes the impact of factors on profitability of cash flow management enterprises of textile and garment enterprises listed on Vietnam stock exchange - VNX (HNX, HoSE and Upcom). Theoretical framework: domestic and foreign studies related to cash flow management activities Method: using Qualitative Research (Synthetic Methods; Statistical methods, description; Inductive and interpretive methods) and quantitative research methods (FEM, REM). Results and conclusion: The author has identified independent variables affecting cash flow management of listed textile enterprises, including: receivables from customers, inventory, payables to sellers, and size of the business. In addition, the control variables: growth opportunities of enterprises, economic environment are not statistically significant Implications of the research: The experimental results are the basis for the authors to make recommendations to improve the efficiency of cash flow management in listed textile enterprises in the coming time. The development of technologies such as the Internet of Things has transformed traditional physical products into smart connected products (SCPs) that combine hardware, sensors, data storage, microprocessors, software, and connectivity in myriad ways. SCPs raise a new set of strategic choices for creating value and pricing products, how relationships with business partners such as channels are redefined, and what role companies should play as industry boundaries are expanded. This study develops an inventory model that considers optimal pricing, production, and intelligent policies for SCPs. In this model, customer demand is assumed to increase as the selling price decreases and the effort to improve product intelligence (i.e., intelligent effort) increases. In addition, a two-level trade credit is included in the SCPs supply chain channel. The manufacturer often receives a permissible delay-in-payment (trade credit) from the supplier while also offering a delayed payment to end customers to attract more sales. Trade credit is particularly important for SCPs as it can act as a payment plan to reduce the product's price barrier. This study aims to determine the optimal selling price, lot size, and level of intelligent effort while maximizing the manufacturer's profit under a two-level trade credit. The optimal solution is clarified, numerical examples are provided, and a sensitivity analysis is performed to illustrate the theoretical results and solution approach. The results reveal that considering the level of intelligent effort as a decision can benefit the manufacturer. Blockchain and smart contract technology is advancing rapidly and, as many companies and industries are stepping up to adopt the technology, it is a worthy subject of research. This study presents a decentralized microgrid model that considers blockchain and smart contract technology. We consider a microgrid consisting of two players: a power distribution company (DC) and an electricity prosumer. The cost-benefit analysis of utilising blockchain and smart contract technology is assessed through an evaluation model for the two players. Further, to encourage the prosumer to generate renewable energy, a credit period that allows the prosumer to defer payments is provided by outside banks. A game-theoretical method is applied to analyse the decision-making by the two players, seeking to maximise their own profits. The DC acts as a leader who determines the electricity price and blockchain technology investment level, and the prosumer is a follower who determines how much renewable energy should be generated. The results show that the adoption of blockchain and smart contract technology benefits both the DC and prosumer in a decentralized microgrid. The Internet provides lower company operating costs, increased product sales, understanding of customer preferences, and closeness to customers. Direct channels break barriers between suppliers and customers and change customer consumption patterns. However, they can also lead to competition and conflicts between upstream and downstream members of the supply chain. This study contributes to supply chain management research by investigating the joint impact of pricing policy, service-level investment, and dual-channel supply chain competition in a duopoly manufacturer channel. By simulating conditions similar to the actual market, the numerical experiment conducted in this study yielded several insights into the management of the dual-channel architecture. A targeted rebate mechanism is used to eliminate channel conflicts and persuade injured parties to accept the introduction of an online channel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The electric power supply chain network plays an important role in the world economy. It powers our homes, offices, and industries and runs various forms of transportation. This paper considers an electric power supply chain network design problem featuring differential pricing and preventive maintenance. We demonstrate that this general model can be formulated as the centralized and decentralized supply chain models. A continuous approximation approach is used to model the problems. The objective of these models is to determine the optimal power plants' service area, electricity price, and preventive maintenance budget while maximizing the total network profit or the own organization's benefits. Our model is applied to the case of a power company in northern Vietnam. We show that the proposed approach can be used to address real-world cases effectively. This research develops two models to consider retailer sales promotion and manufacturer trade promotion under demand uncertainty. The objective of the first model is to determine the retailer's optimal promotional effort and order quantity while maximizing the retailer's profit under exogenous trade promotion. The second model extends the first to consider the manufacturer's endogenous trade promotion decisions. For these models, three different trade promotion policies (off-invoice, scan-back, unsold-discount) have been compared to identify the policy that can increase the manufacturer's and the retailer's profits. For the model with exogenous trade promotion, the retailer's promotional effort level, order quantity, and profit are highest under the off-invoice trade promotion policy. With respect to the manufacturer's endogenous trade promotion decisions, the retailer's promotional effort level, order quantity, and profit, and the manufacturer's profit are higher under the off-invoice policy than under the scan-backs policy. When comparing the three different trade promotion policies, we also find that the wholesale price is a key factor that influences a manufacturer's profit.
