Development of value added and novel products that are also ready-to-eat would help diversify snubnose pompano industry as well as facilitate distribution and transportation of such products without spoilage or damage. This research shows the effect of processing parameters on salting and fermentation processes of snubnose pompano products. The results have indicated that the appropriate regime for wilting pompano samples was salting with a salt ratio of 10% to raw materials for 24 h at 40°C. The drying conditions for oven drying at 50°C with a wind speed of 2 m/s for 2 h were considered optimum. After drying, the fish fillets were fermented using starter microbial strains. The fermentation using a mixture of two types of bacteria Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus acidophilus in a 1:1 ratio for 7 days produced fermented snubnose pompano fillets with the highest quality. The composition of final products shows that fermented snubnose pompano fillets meet the product quality standards and are potential for development of new products.

Ti/CrN/TiN multilayer coatings were deposited via cathodic arc deposition at substrate bias voltages ranging from 20 V to 60 V. The study investigated the effects of bias voltage on the coatings microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion properties using laser and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nanohardness testing, and electrochemical testing equipment. The results indicate that bias voltage significantly influences the morphologies of Ti/CrN/TiN coatings. As the bias voltage increased from 20 V to 60 V, the concentration of macroscopic defects decreased markedly, and the average surface roughness (Ra) reduced from 0.227 µm to 0.179 µm. Nanoindentation revealed that coatings deposited at a bias voltage of 60 V exhibited a notable enhancement in hardness and elastic modulus. Corrosion testing in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution showed that coatings deposited at bias voltages of 20 V and 40 V had better corrosion resistance compared to those deposited at 60 V, likely due to the denser microstructure acting as a barrier to the diffusion of corrosive substances.

Dual antiplatelet therapy is commonly used to treat or prevent thromboembolic events in patients with deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation, in patients after coronary artery stenting, cerebral artery stenting or artificial heart valves, etc. Although they significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality from thromboembolic events, dual antiplatelet therapy is associated with the risk of bleeding, which can be life-threatening. Gastrointestinal bleeding is one of the most common and dangerous events when using dual antiplatelet therapy for a long time. According to studies, nearly half of the major bleeding cases related to dual antiplatelet therapy arise from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. We report the case of a 74-year-old female patient with lower gastrointestinal bleeding after using dual antiplatelet therapy that was successfully treated endovascularly with a coil.

Denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on website systems have become increasingly sophisticated. These attacks are evolving at a pace and complexity that outstrips the capabilities of current defensive measures. This paper presents an effective method to enhance the resilience against distributed denial-of- service (DDoS) attacks by implementing an overlay network architecture to protect website systems. This architecture employs a group of Secure Overlay Access Points (SOAP) to authenticate and distinguish legitimate users from malicious attackers, ensuring that valid requests are routed to hidden nodes within the overlay network via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections. These hidden nodes then forward user requests through a filtering region before delivering them to the target server. The study has introduced enhancements to the existing overlay network architecture to promptly detect scenarios where a network node becomes a source of attack and automatically reroute queries to prevent potential damage. After conducting experimental simulations of attack scenarios, the improved architecture has been tested and yielded auspicious and reliable results compared to the original architecture. This approach contributes to mitigating and reducing the impact of DDoS attacks on modern websites.

Appreciating the dynamic nature of electrical modulation of the nervous system from the epidural space, the goal has been consistent, reliable, and therapeutic neural activation of the spinal cord. This has proven to be extremely difficult. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a guidance on physiologic closed loop controlled (PCLC) devices, highlighting the potential for these therapies to deliver accurate, consistent, real-time therapy, enhancing medical care and reducing variability. Because of the growing neuromodulation market focus on PCLC strategies, the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN) sought to develop guidance on safety and efficacy, along with a taxonomy surrounding PCLC systems (PCLCSs) and to develop an evidence-based best practice review.Methods: A librarian-assisted literature search was performed to identify manuscripts relevant to the topic of PCLC stimulation for management of chronic pain. Initial literature search was performed utilizing MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane database, BioMed Central, and Web of Science. Included manuscripts encompassed meta-analyses, systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), prospective or retrospective studies with follow-up to 12 months, limited to the English language. MESH terms utilized included “closed-loop”, “physiologic closed loop controlled”, “spinal cord stimulation”, “closed loop feedback”, “feedback controlled”, “neuromodulation”, “pain”, “persistent pain”, “neuropathic pain”, and “chronic pain”. The modified USPSTF evidence and recommendation grading strategy previously utilized was again employed.Results: Four studies were identified for review, 2 prospective, one retrospective, and one randomized controlled study with at least 12-month follow-up.Conclusion: PCLC neuromodulation is an innovation that requires a responsible introduction. Abstract The current research aims to unveil the interconnection between effectiveness of digital accounting information system (EDAIS) and sustainable business model innovation (SBMI). In particular, the study investigates the mediating function of digital business ecosystem (DBE) between EDAIS and SBMI. In this regard, this study confirms and establishes the relationships between EDAIS, DBE, and SBMI by using a sequential exploratory strategy that combines literature review and qualitative interviews, together with a quantitative survey of 723 small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The results analysis indicated that EDAIS had a positive impact on SBMI. Furthermore, it was shown that DBE had a role in partially mediating the relationship between EDAIS and SBMI. Therefore, it is recommended that practitioners adopt digital transformation and harness national policies, in order to improve their company's use of digital technology in accounting. Additionally, policymakers and practitioners can use this investigation to enhance their comprehension of the governance of DBE and to elucidate strategies, procedures, and management for DBE in order to establish and attain SBMI in the digital environment.

Abstract This study aims to conduct a thorough analysis to determine the key elements that contribute to the behavioral intention of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to adopt green transition. The statistical data used in this study were obtained from two rounds of data collected from individuals working in SMEs. This work utilized structural equation modeling to analyze the hypothesized interlinks. The analysis of the results confirmed the positive relationships between key elements in terms of their significance and effect size. The most stable elements of intention of green transition implementation were determined based on the degree of stability of the findings. In addition to expanding our understanding of the advantages of green transition in SMEs, the results of this study can provide guidance to SME leaders on how to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in the process of green transition practices. A more detailed understanding in this research can provide policymakers with the ability to establish laws and regulations for the transition towards sustainability.

Abstract Background Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common malignant solid tumor of the liver in children and is a fatal disease with a poor prognosis. Therefore, indicators that can be used for the early prediction of the HB prognosis are necessary. Sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) is a glucose transporter protein present in the proximal renal tubules. Studies have shown that SGLT2 is associated with the occurrence of tumors and is upregulated in various tumors. Peroxiredoxin 4 (PRDX4) is an antioxidant enzyme with a secretory function and is located in the cytoplasmic endoplasmic reticulum. Recent reports have suggested that it is closely related to the development and prognosis of various cancers. To some degree, this is highly suggestive of the interplay between SGLT2 and PRDX4. Methods In the present study, clinical data and post-surgical paraffin-embedded specimens from 75 HB patients were collected, and hematoxylin and eosin and immunohistochemical staining of SGLT2 and PRDX4 were used to analyze their expression and correlation with the clinicopathological features and prognosis. Results We found that low SGLT2 and high PRDX4 expression predicted a significantly shorter survival and worse clinical condition in HB patients. Furthermore, when low SGLT2 expression was combined with high PRDX4 expression, the event-free survival and overall survival were significantly reduced. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards analyses showed that low SGLT2 and high PRDX4 expression in HB were independent prognostic factors for the survival after surgical resection. Conclusion The immunohistochemical combination of low SGLT2 and high PRDX4 expression can independently predict a poor prognosis in HB patients.

This paper presents research on raising the efficiency and pressure of centrifugal fans at different speed ranges. This problem is related to the incompatibility of the fan characteristics with the speed conditions of the impeller and flow conditions of the installation when the centrifugal fans are operated, which decreases efficiency and raises energy consumption. In this research, a novel concept of regulating the blade parameters of centrifugal fans was given. The basis of this study is that a change in the blade angles and impeller outer diameter at different speeds significantly affects the power and the pressure rise of the fan. The scientific basis of this idea, which is using flexible blades for the fan, is aimed at providing high flow rates at relatively low running speeds, relatively low power requirements, and high efficiency when the fan operates in high-speed regions. Therefore, the design of the fan uses variable angles of the impeller blades by linking each blade to two springs. It enables adjustment to change the inlet and outlet blade angle of the impeller, which allows extending the range of operating parameters in accordance with the impeller speed. The flow simulation tests (CFD) of the novel method demonstrated the feasibility of adjusting the blade parameters and confirmed the benefits of this solution. The results of the research are given on the basis of the numerical analysis method and statistical computation method.

Pulmonary sinus aneurysm (PSA) is an abnormal dilatation of the sinus of the pulmonary valve. This condition is exceedingly rare. A few reports of pulmonary artery aneurysms and just 2 reports of pulmonary sinus aneurysms have been reported in the literature. Various factors contribute to pulmonary artery aneurysms, including pulmonary valve stenosis, pulmonary hypertension, and other diseases that induce arterial wall debilitation, such as connective tissue disorders, vasculitis, rheumatologic maladies, and infections. It can present with some symptoms linked with other congenital anomalies or remain asymptomatic. Recently, we encountered a case of asymptomatic pulmonary sinus aneurysm in neonatal. Echocardiography showed that the aneurysm of the anterior and right cusps of the pulmonary valve mimicked tumors at the pulmonary root.

Intussusception is a rare condition in adults that occurs when a segment of the bowel telescopes into the lumen of the more distal segment. Colocolic intussusception accounts for only 8.3-38% of all intussusception cases in adults, the majority due to malignant causes such as adenocarcinoma, lymphoma, leiomyosarcoma, undifferentiated carcinoma... Lipoma is the most common benign cause, followed by gastrointestinal stromal tumors and adenomatous polyps. Surgery is the recommended treatment for colonic lipoma-induced intussusception. In this report, we describe a rare case of a 52-year-old female patient with colocolic intussusception due to an ascending colon lipoma which was diagnosed by ultrasound and computed tomography.

The article examines the US and China’s approaches to the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) in light of their rivalry. This analysis additionally demonstrates that every power has a unique way for creating integration mechanisms in order to draw the GMS nations under its influence. The paper also focuses on the evaluation of Russia's capabilities. The author points out that given China's and the United States' long-standing presence in the area, Russia, which has a number of interests there, must take the proper measures to establish its place and role in the region.

Abstract Citrobacter youngae (C. youngae) was first described in 1993, and data suggesting that human diseases caused by this bacterium remain scarce. Reports on C. youngae infections mostly described local infections without evidenced bacteremia, especially in immunocompromised patients. Herein, we report a rare case of bacteremia with intervertebral disc and adjacent vertebral infection due to C. youngae (detected by the Vitek® 2 Compact). A 70-year-old man with chronic lower back pain due to lumbar disc herniation underwent microdiscectomy, a minimally invasive spinal surgery. On postoperative day 4, he suffered shaking chills with worsened lower back pain compared to that before the operation, and vancomycin plus ceftriaxone were empirically administered. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the lumbar spine revealed osteomyelitis at L4 and L5 with L4/L5 discitis. Two blood culture sets were positive with the same pathogen, possibly C. youngae; The patient was then treated successfully with ceftazidime plus ciprofloxacin, the antibiotics were selected based on antibiotic susceptibility test results. This report suggests that C. youngae may cause severe infections in immunocompetent patients, and further surveillance should be considered to monitor antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Abstract Background The global burden of mental illness is substantial, with depression impacting close to 300 million people worldwide. This has been exacerbated within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, in many low- and middle-income countries including Vietnam, there is a substantial treatment gap, with many requiring mental health care unable to access it. Task-shifting is an evidence-based approach that seeks to address this gap by utilizing non-specialist providers to provide care. While there is a large body of literature exploring task-shifting, there is little that explores the client experience. This paper describes the facilitators and barriers impacting the client experience of a task-shifting supported self-management (SSM) intervention for depression in Vietnam. SSM involves a client workbook and supportive coaching by non-specialist providers. Methods This paper is situated within a randomized controlled trial that demonstrated the effectiveness of the SSM intervention in adult populations across eight provinces in Vietnam. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a convenience sample of clients (recipients of the intervention) with depression caseness as measured by the Self-Report Questionnaire-20 depression screening measure, and providers (non-specialist “social collaborators”) to explore SSM’s acceptability and factors influencing participation and adherence. This paper presents the qualitative findings from an analysis of the interviews, focusing on the client perspective. Qualitative descriptive methods and thematic analysis were used. Results Forty-five clients were interviewed. Sub-themes reported for the facilitators and benefits for the client experience of the SSM intervention were client-provider relationship building and family and community connections. Sub-themes reported for the barriers were clients’ responsibilities, clients’ health conditions, and consequences of stigma. Conclusions Due to challenges with sustaining and scaling up the in-person SSM intervention in Vietnam, the research team has pivoted to delivering the SSM intervention digitally through a smartphone-based app adapted from SSM, with direction from the Government of Vietnam. Findings from this study suggest that while digital interventions may support accessibility and convenience, they may neglect the critical human contact component of mental health care. Ultimately, a model that combines digital delivery with some form of human contact by a support person may be important.

(1) Background: Asthma exacerbations represent significant clinical events, however, the underlying inflammatory mechanisms and cytokine profiles in patients with frequent exacerbations remain incompletely understood; (2) Methods: In this prospective, cross-sectional study of 120 stable asthma patients, we compared the serum concentrations of eight key cytokines (IL-4, IL-12, IL-13, IL-17, IFN-α, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-1β) between two groups: 60 patients with frequent exacerbations (≥ 2 events per year) and 60 matched controls with few exacerbations (1 event per year); (3) Results: Patients with frequent exacerbations showed significantly higher serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-13 (p < 0.05), along with an increased prevalence of allergic history and comorbidities (chronic rhinosinusitis, GERD, OSA; all p < 0.05). The IgE levels correlated positively with IFN-α (rh = 0.26) and TNF-α (rh = 0.29), while the FeNO levels correlated with IL-17 (rh = 0.26) and IL-1β (rh = 0.33) (all p < 0.05); (4) Conclusions: Our findings identify a distinct cytokine signature in frequent exacerbators characterized by elevated IL-4 and IL-13 levels. The correlations between specific cytokines and established biomarkers suggest potential mechanisms underlying exacerbation susceptibility, which may inform targeted therapeutic strategies for this high-risk population.

Purpose The aim of this study was to validate the low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) score questionnaire in the Vietnamese language among Vietnamese patients who underwent sphincter-preserving surgery for rectal cancer. Methods The LARS score questionnaire was translated from English into Vietnamese and then back-translated as recommended internationally. From January 2018 to December 2020, 93 patients who underwent sphincter-preserving surgery completed the Vietnamese version of the LARS score questionnaire together with an anchored question assessing the influence of bowel function on quality of life. To validate test-retest reliability, patients were requested to answer the LARS score questionnaire twice. Results Ninety-three patients completed the LARS score questionnaire, of whom 89 responded twice. The patients who responded twice were included in the analysis of test-retest reliability. Twenty-one patients had a “major” LARS score. The LARS score was able to discriminate between patients who were obese and those who were not and between the LAR and AR procedures. Age and sex were not associated with higher LARS scores. There was a perfect fit between the quality of life category question and the LARS score in 56.2% of cases, and a moderate fit was found in 42.7% of cases, showing reasonable convergent validity. The test-retest reliability of 89 patients showed a high intraclass correlation coefficient. Conclusion The Vietnamese version of the LARS score questionnaire is a valid tool for measuring LARS.

The study on the composition of insect pests on Xoan Orange trees in Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc Province, identified 28 species belonging to 25 families and 7 orders. Among these, the order Hemiptera (true bugs) had the highest number of species, with 8 species (28.57%), while Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) and Diptera (flies) each had only 1 species (3.57%). Thirteen natural enemy species were recorded, belonging to 8 families and 4 orders. The order Hymenoptera (wasps and bees) accounted for the highest number of species (6 species, 46.16%), while Hemiptera contributed the least (1 species, 7.69%). The density of citrus leafminer (Phyllocnistis citrella) varied with the season and type of orchard. In nurseries, the highest density was observed in August (4.56±0.02 larvae/leaf) and the lowest in January (1.42±0.03 larvae/leaf). In young orchards, the peak density occurred in April (3.68±0.01 larvae/leaf) and the lowest in January (1.38±0.02 larvae/leaf). In mature orchards, the highest density was recorded in April (2.61±0.02 larvae/leaf) and the lowest in January (0.78±0.04 larvae/leaf). The percentage of damaged leaves was highest in April across all three orchard types: Nurseries: 28.55±0.02%; Young orchards: 26.05±0.23%; Mature orchards: 25.38±0.02%. The lowest damage rates were observed in January, with corresponding values: Nurseries: 13.59±0.01%; Young orchards: 10.65±0.05%; Mature orchards: 8.67±0.03%

The vigorous development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has brought humanity into the digital age. Journalism and journalism training in Vietnam are facing many new problems; advantages and opportunities are intertwined with difficulties and challenges. In this article, based on the synthesis of theoretical and practical sources in Vietnam, we analyze the opportunities that the digital age brings to journalism and also point out the challenges journalism human resource training faces in the digital age. We also propose appropriate solutions for journalism human resource training to meet new requirements in the context of the digital age.

Quoc Am Thi Tap is a classic piece of Vietnamese literature, particularly in the poetry genre. The work exhibits cross-cultural interchange between Vietnamese and Chinese civilizations and has a solid cultural and historical influence. In addition to enhancing the language, the work's usage of Sino-Vietnamese terms produces rich and varied artistic values. The author highlights some features of the Quoc Am Thi Tap's artistic uses of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary to highlight significant turning points in the evolution of the language and writing system.

Abstract Anti-disialoganglioside (GD2) antibody therapy has provided clinical benefit to patients with neuroblastoma however efficacy is likely impaired by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. We have previously defined a link between intratumoral copper levels and immune evasion. Here, we report that adjuvant copper chelation potentiates anti-GD2 antibody therapy to confer durable tumor control in immunocompetent models of neuroblastoma. Mechanistic studies reveal copper chelation creates an immune-primed tumor microenvironment through enhanced infiltration and activity of Fc-receptor-bearing cells, specifically neutrophils which are emerging as key effectors of antibody therapy. Moreover, we report copper sequestration by neuroblastoma attenuates neutrophil function which can be successfully reversed using copper chelation to increase pro-inflammatory effector functions. Importantly, we repurpose the clinically approved copper chelating agent Cuprior as a non-toxic, efficacious immunomodulatory strategy. Collectively, our findings provide evidence for the clinical testing of Cuprior as an adjuvant to enhance the activity of anti-GD2 antibody therapy and improve outcomes for patients with neuroblastoma.

This study compared outcomes of online circular contrast perimetry (OCCP) and standard automated perimetry (SAP) in a developing world setting.Methods: The longitudinal and observation study was conducted on patients sampled during 2023 at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Participants were either healthy volunteers as controls or stable glaucoma patients with either primary angle closure or primary open-angle glaucoma. They underwent a comprehensive ocular examination, retinal nerve fiber layer optical coherence tomography scan, and visual field tests performed at baseline and after 3 months and 6 months, using OCCP and SAP in clinic.Results: The current study was carried out in 168 eyes of 87 patients at baseline, 133 eyes of 69 patients at 3 months, and 121 eyes of 63 patients at 6 months. At baseline, OCCP mean deviation (MD) (R2 = 0.804, p < 0.001) and visual index (VI) (R2 = 0.892, p < 0.001) were strongly correlated with SAP MD and visual field index (VFI) respectively. There was strong agreement and correlation between MD and VI/VFI for SAP and OCCP on repeated testing after 6 months. At 6 months AUC of SAP VFI (0.79) was superior to AUC of OCCP VI (0.67, p = 0.036); otherwise there was no difference in AUC of MD or VI/VFI at baseline, 3 and 6 months, when comparing OCCP and SAP.Conclusion: OCCP parameters are significantly correlated with those of SAP. OCCP has the potential to provide a complementary role to SAP in glaucoma screening and monitoring.Keywords: glaucoma, online circular contrast perimetry

Abstract This study endeavors to examine the relationship between digital forensic accounting (DFAC) and accelerated internationalization capabilities (AIC). The study posits that the relationship between DFAC and AIC is mediated by metaverse circular business model innovation (MCBMI). The data was collected from employees in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam employing a combination of convenience and snowball sampling approaches, utilizing a quantitative research design and deductive approach. SmartPLS version 4 software was employed to analyze the data using partial least squares-structural equation modeling. This investigation determined that AIC is insubstantially influenced by DFAC. Nevertheless, the relationship between DFAC and AIC is positively mediated by MCBMI. The findings of this investigation would function as a reliable foundation for future research endeavors, as well as for the advancement of scientific comprehension by expanding the current scope of this research line. From a practical perspective, these critical insights could facilitate the development of strategies that are specifically tailored to the implementation of circular business models, as well as policies and regulations that are pertinent to the incorporation of Metaverse platforms to enhance SMEs’ internationalization performance.

The Ba Lang sand beaches, located north of the Nha Trang Bay in Central Vietnam, are famous tourist attractions. However, they are experiencing shoreline and coastal erosion retreat, which is attributed to natural causes (such as tropical depressions, storms, and monsoons) as well as human impacts (such as hydropower generation, sand dredging, and coastal works). According to the forecast of the Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, global climate change will cause the sea level to rise by 74 cm along the coast from the Dai Lanh Cape to the Ke Ga Cape (including the Ba Lang beaches) by the end of this century in the representative concentration pathway (RCP) 8.5 scenario. Sea level rise (SLR) due to global climate change is expected to aggravate the coastal erosion and shoreline retreat problems. In this study, coupled numerical models with the spectral wave module (MIKE 21 SW), hydrodynamic module (MIKE 21 HD), and sand transport module (MIKE 21 ST) in the MIKE 21 package were used to simulate waves, current fields, and sediment dynamics along the Ba Lang beaches considering the impact of SLR. These models were calibrated with the field data measured in December 2016. The results showed that SLR caused the wave height to increase and reduced the current speed and total sediment load in monsoon conditions. The increase in wave height was even intensified under the joint impact of SLR and extreme events.

Additionally, TCAs are used to treat other conditions such as chronic pain and enuresis in children. Due to their numerous side effects and potential for drug interactions, cases of poisoning and death from TCA overdose, particularly amitriptyline, are on the rise. Therefore, this article revisits the overview and describes the clinical progression regarding blood gases, ECG, and electrolytes of the patient, as well as the use of 4.2% sodium bicarbonate and 2% lidocaine to treat cases of amitriptyline overdose poisoning.Case Presentation: A 49-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital due to cardiac and respiratory arrest. The patient had a past medical history of untreated cervical cancer and sleep disorders. Prior to admission, the patient had taken about 20 tablets of amitriptyline 25mg and was in a drowsy state with gasping breaths. During transportation to the hospital, the patient experienced cardiac arrest once and was successfully resuscitated, with a total arrest and resuscitation time of approximately 10 minutes.Results: The use of 4.2% Sodium Bicarbonate and 2% Lidocaine, the patient was not used plasma exchange in this case, proved effective in this case. Continuous monitoring of blood gas levels, ECG, and electrolytes was maintained. The patient was able to walk independently and was discharged after 12 days of treatment.Conclusion: The key factor was the healthcare staff’s quick recognition and timely management of TCA poisoning, in this case, amitriptyline.Keywords: tricyclic antidepressants, amitriptyline, cardiac arrhythmia

Energy efficiency and CO2 emission reduction technologies play a vital role in the “Net-zero” strategy of the United Nations. Enhancing the power and fuel efficiency of waterway vehicles, particularly those with powerful propulsion systems, is becoming a major worldwide concern in the fight against emissions. Propeller boss cap fin systems are only one of the many ways that propulsion systems’ efficiency can be increased. Unfortunately, because they are either expensive or too difficult to install and operate, they are not appropriate for Vietnam’s offshore fishing fleets. In this study, a two-pitch propeller model was proposed, considering the operating characteristics of offshore fishing vessels with two stages: the free-running and the trawling stage. The hydrodynamic features of the fixed propeller and the propeller’s two pitches were analyzed using the numerical approach with a diameter of 1 m; a speed of 629 rpm; expanded area ratio of 0.5. The outcomes demonstrated that the two-pitch propeller’s overall efficiency with a pitch-blade of 0.6, consisting of the efficiency in working freely and the stage of trawling, is higher than the fixed propeller’s efficiency of the same size. Two-pitch propellers are seen as a significant step in bettering the planning of national fishing vessels’ emission reduction strategies.

BackgroundIn Vietnam, PrEP was introduced in 2017 and scaled up from 2019. Private sector engagement (PSE) in PrEP service delivery was deployed as a strategy from the start to increase PrEP access. We assessed the effectiveness of this approach to inform ongoing efforts to accelerate epidemic control by 2030.MethodsWe implemented a process evaluation with longitudinal design using retrospective programmatic data collected and uploaded onto a secure online system (HMED) from 23 public and 17 private PrEP clinics in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), and Dong Nai. We measured the effectiveness of PrEP service delivery by PrEP initiation/reinitiation, uptake, persistence, discontinuation, and HIV seroconversion. We used the Kaplan-Meier time-to-event approach to estimate PrEP persistence and mixed-effects logistic regression analysis to assess factors associated with the PrEP persistence.ResultsFrom October 2017 to September 2023, 29,944 individuals initiated PrEP, and among these, 79.3% started PrEP at a private sector clinic while 20.7% initiated in a public sector clinic. The median duration of PrEP use persistence at private clinics was significantly longer than that at public clinics (268 days vs. 148 days, respectively). Mixed-effects logistic regression analysis results indicated a significant statistical association between PrEP persistence for at least three months and initiating PrEP at a private clinic [adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 4.28; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.96–6.19], opting for TelePrEP (aOR = 3.42; 95% CI: 2.12–5.53), or being 20 years of age or older (aOR = 1.86; 95% CI: 1.62–2.13). IntroductionSeveral studies suggest a potential correlation between troponin levels detected in serum and saliva. However, prior investigations have not adequately addressed the critical aspect of collecting samples upon admission, which is essential for timely troponin level determination. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between troponin levels in serum and saliva among patients admitted for chest pain evaluation.MethodsThis observational study was conducted at the Interventional Cardiology Department of the University Medical Center HCMC. Patients presenting with chest pain were enrolled, and unstimulated saliva samples were collected using the Navazesh method simultaneously with the initial blood collection. These samples were then analyzed for levels of salivary troponin I, serum troponin I, and serum high-sensitive troponin T.ResultsAmong the 48 patients included, 22 (46%) exhibited myocardial injury, while 12 (25%) were diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction. No significant difference was observed in salivary troponin I levels between the non-myocardial injury and myocardial injury groups (p = 0.425). Moreover, no correlation was found between salivary troponin I levels and either serum troponin T or serum troponin I levels (Pearson correlation p = 0.761, 0.500; Spearman correlation p = 0.857, 0.136, respectively). The ROC curve for salivary troponin I in predicting myocardial injury displayed an AUC of 0.566 (95% CI: 0.402–0.731), indicating poor discriminatory power.ConclusionsIn our investigation, salivary troponin I failed to demonstrate a meaningful correlation with serum troponins, thereby limiting its practical utility in diagnosing myocardial injury or myocardial infarction. Further research is warranted to explore its diagnostic reliability and clinical applicability.

ABSTRACT Background Multi‐cancer early detection (MCED) through a single blood test significantly advances cancer diagnosis. However, most MCED tests rely on a single type of biomarkers, leading to limited sensitivity, particularly for early‐stage cancers. We previously developed SPOT‐MAS, a multimodal ctDNA‐based assay analyzing methylation and fragmentomic profiles to detect five common cancers. Despite its potential, SPOT‐MAS exhibited moderate sensitivities for early‐stage cancers. This study investigated whether integrating hotspot mutations into SPOT‐MAS could enhance its detection rates. Method A targeted amplicon sequencing approach was developed to profile 700 hotspot mutations in cell‐free DNA and integrated into the SPOT‐MAS assay, creating a single‐blood draw workflow. This workflow, namely SPOT‐MAS Plus was retrospectively validated in a cohort of 255 non‐metastatic cancer patients (breast, colorectal, gastric, liver, and lung) and 304 healthy individuals. Results Hotspot mutations were detected in 131 of 255 (51.4%) cancer patients, with the highest rates in liver cancer (96.5%), followed by colorectal (59.3%) and lung cancer (53.7%). Lower detection rates were found for cancers with low tumor mutational burden, such as breast (31.3%) and gastric (41.9%) cancers. In contrast, SPOT‐MAS demonstrated higher sensitivities for these cancers (51.6% for breast and 62.9% for gastric). The combination of hotspot mutations with SPOT‐MAS predictions improved early‐stage cancer detection, achieving an overall sensitivity of 78.5% at a specificity of 97.7%. Enhanced sensitivities were observed for colorectal (81.36%) and lung cancer (82.9%). Conclusion The integration of genetic and epigenetic alterations into a multimodal assay significantly enhances the early detection of various cancers. Further validation in larger cohorts is necessary to support broader clinical applications.

Current Direct Strength Method equations computing flexural strength of cold-form members were reported to be over-conservative when applied to members bent about the asymmetrical axis. Finite Element Analysis was used to develop new equations. However, the convergence study, which ensures the accuracy of the Finite Element Analysis result, has not been presented clearly. Thus, this paper performed a convergence study on the strength problem of channel-section asymmetrically flexural members having the web in compression. 33 cold-form channel cross-sections utilized in Oey and Papagelis’ study were modeled into ABAQUS to calculate the elastic buckling moment and the ultimate strength. Two factors affected the accuracy of the models, i.e., the mesh size, being 5 mm, D/20, D/40, and D/60, and the member length, ranging from 0.3D to 7D, where D is the cross-section height, were examined. The investigation shows that the seeding method considering the local buckling of the web is the most justifiable. Therefore, the seed size being 1/40 the cross-section height is suggested. This seed size is proven to produce results with reasonable accuracy. To avoid the end effect as well as the influence of incorrect half-wavelength, it is recommended that the member length should be chosen as greater than or equal to two times the cross-section height, and the lengthier the better.

Abstract Southeast Asia includes several global biodiversity hotspots and bats account for nearly one-third of mammal species currently known in the region. While acoustic methods have become widespread in bat research, basic information is often lacking on the echolocation calls produced by Asian bat species. Since such information can aid a wide variety of research and conservation initiatives, descriptions of the calls emitted by Asian bats are fundamental. The aim of our study was to provide a standardized analysis and description of the Vietnamese bat echolocation calls. We analyzed call recordings of 87 species arranged in eight families. This constitutes 74% of the echolocating bats presently known in Vietnam and includes the first call descriptions for five taxa. Our use of an open-source software and the deposition of recordings in the ChiroVox repository will facilitate comparative studies in Asia and the information we provide represents one of the most comprehensive bioacoustic databases for Asian bats to date.

This paper addresses the Lyapunov exponents of non-vanishing solutions to quasi-linear time-varying systems of differential equations. The linear part is not required to be regular but it is assumed to be integrally separated, which ensures that the associated Lyapunov exponents are distinct and stable. The nonlinear perturbations are assumed to be small in a certain sense, though less restrictive than the condition in Barreira and Valls’ paper, J. Differential Equations 258(2015), 339–361. The main result is a Perron-type theorem for upper and lower Lyapunov exponents, offering an alternative to Barreira and Valls’ result. In addition, an analogous result holds for Bohl exponents.

The investigation examined the characteristics and utilization of TiCN coatings on high-speed steel substrates. These coatings were produced via unfiltered cathodic arc physical vapor deposition, commencing with a TiN layer and culminating in a TiCN layer with diverse carbon concentrations. The study found that the coatings exhibited a consistent composition of TiC0.7N0.3 and a fine-grained microstructure with an average thickness of approximately 3.4 µm. Nanoindentation tests revealed a high average hardness of 30.74 GPa and Young’s modulus of 349.95 GPa. The coatings’ friction and wear behavior showed temperature dependence, with increased oxidation and phase transformation at elevated temperatures, while consistent performance was observed at room temperature. The TiCN coatings demonstrated excellent mechanical properties and temperature-dependent wear resistance, indicating their suitability for industrial applications requiring high hardness and thermal stability. This study provides valuable insights for optimizing deposition parameters to enhance the coating’s performance in challenging environments. Scratch tests confirmed the coatings’ strong adhesion, with cohesion failing at 49.1 N and adhesion failing at 70.2 N.

This work presents a simple chemical vapour deposition (CVD) method to grow ZnO nanostructures. By annealing Zn powder under atmospheric pressure conditions, we collected nanocrystals with various morphologies, including rods, pencils, sheets, combs, tetrapods, and multilegs. Raman scattering study reveals that the samples are monophasic with a hexagonal structure, and fall into the P63mc space group. Depending on the morphology and crystal quality, their photoluminescence spectra have only a strong UV emission associated with the exciton radiative recombination, or both UV and defect-related visible emissions with their relative intensity ratio varying with the excitation power density. The obtained results prove that ZnO exhibits many novel nanostructures that can foster the development of next-generation optoelectronic nanodevices and new applications in biological and biomedical fields.

The peel and pulp of soursop are ideal for creating a new tea product, offering a unique flavor compared to traditional leaf tea. This study develops mathematical models to describe the drying process, decomposition of bioactive components, and antioxidant activity of soursop slices. The slices were dried at four temperatures (20–50°C) using industrial-scale heat pump drying. Changes in moisture ratio (MR) were calculated and compared with 30 previous models. Additionally, two and four mathematical models were used to analyze data on total flavonoid content (TFC) and antioxidant activity. The model fits were evaluated based on statistical parameters (R 2, root mean square error, χ 2). The results indicated that the drying process at 20°C involved two mechanisms following the Aghbashlo model (R 2 > 0.993). At higher temperatures, the moisture removal process followed a single mechanism. Zero order, first order, and polynomial quadratic models were suitable for describing TFC decomposition and antioxidant activity, depending on the temperature. The activation energy of MR (29.89 kJ/mol) was lower than that of 2,2′–azino-bis–3–ethylbenzothiazoline–6–sulfonic acid (37.02 kJ/mol) and 2,2–diphenyl–1-1-picrylhydrazyl (32.12 kJ/mol), indicating drying efficiency and retention of bioactive components. The study’s findings are expected to enhance quality, improve economic efficiency, and expand the market for soursop tea.

Abstract We present detailed annual land cover maps for the Baltic Sea region, spanning more than two decades (2000–2022). The maps provide information on eighteen land cover (LC) classes, including eight general LC types, eight major crop types and grassland, and two peat bog-related classes. Our maps represent the first homogenized annual dataset for the region and address gaps in current land use and land cover products, such as a lack of detail on crop sequences and peat bog exploitation. To create the maps, we used annual multi-temporal remote sensing data combined with a data encoding structure and deep learning classification. We obtained the training data from publicly available open datasets. The maps were validated using independent field survey data from the Land Use/Cover Area Frame Survey (LUCAS) and expert annotations from high-resolution imagery. The quantitative and qualitative results of the maps provide a reliable data source for monitoring agricultural transformations, peat bog exploitation, and restoration activities in the Baltic Sea region and its surrounding countries.

The effects of hydrolysis of muskmelon pomace on fruit juice recovery efficiency, transmittance, total phenolic content, total ascorbic acid content, total flavonoid content, and total carotenoid content have been studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential use of pectinase enzyme in the hydrolysis process, specifically looking at the effects of pH, temperature, time, and enzyme concentration on the production of effective muskmelon juice. Additionally, the optimal mixing ratio of ingredients such as melon juice content, Brix level, citric acid, and additives (pectin, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose [CMC], xanthan gum) was investigated to create a high-quality muskmelon juice product. The results showed that using a pectinase enzyme concentration of 0.2%, a pH of 5.0, and a hydrolysis temperature of 45°C for 120 min resulted in a muskmelon juice product with a hydrolyzed juice content of 20%, a Brix level of 12%, and a citric acid addition rate of 0.04%. The addition of xanthan gum at a rate of 0.03% also contributed to the desired flavor and color of the juice. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of effective muskmelon juice processes.

We studied a community cluster of 25 mpox cases in Vietnam caused by emerging monkeypox virus sublineage C.1 and imported into Vietnam through 2 independent events; 1 major cluster carried a novel APOBEC3-like mutation. Three patients died; all had advanced HIV co-infection. Viral evolution and its potential consequences should be closely monitored.

For the first time, the isogeometric analysis (IGA) approach is used to model and analyze free and forced vibrations of doubly-curved magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) composite shallow shell resting on the visco-Pasternak foundation in a hygro-temperature environment. The doubly-curved MEE shallow shell types include spherical shallow shell, cylindrical shallow shell, saddle shallow shell, and elliptical shallow shell subjected to blast load are investigated. The Maxwell equation and electromagnetic boundary conditions are used to determine the vary of the electric and magnetic potentials. The MEE shallow shell's equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle and refined higher-order shear theory. Then, the IGA method is used to derive the laws of natural frequencies and dynamic responses of the shell under various boundary conditions. The accuracy of the model and method is verified through reliable numerical comparisons. Aside from this, the impact of the input parameters on the free and forced vibration of the doubly-curved MEE shallow shell is examined in detail. These results may be useful in the design and manufacture of military structures such as warships, fighter aircraft, drones and missiles.

Abstract Adolescents experience numerous changes, both psychologically and physically, and they are also the age group with a high prevalence of mental problems that need counseling help. The study aims to assess the difficulties and the needs for psychological support, factors affecting the need to use psychological services among adolescents. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 672 high school students in Thu Duc City, Vietnam. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between grades 10–12 in student’s difficulties (DS) and a statistically significant difference in needs for psychological services (NPS, RPS). Additionally, there was a statistically significant difference in academic performance for DS. The findings also implied that RPS was predicted by a DS, NPS, and factors affecting the need to use psychological services (FA), in which NPS and DS were mediators in the relationship between FA and RPS. The study significantly contributes to research practices and the theoretical framework that the parliament and the government use to make counselors mandatory in schools. Meanwhile, the study suggested that school counselors, educators, and teachers must appropriately evaluate students' counseling needs and psychological difficulties; this is essential to providing support and interventions when students deal with challenges promptly.

Objectives To investigate the serum IL-6 levels and their rate of change in predicting the mortality of critically ill patients with COVID-19 in Vietnam.Design A single-centre, cross-sectional study.Setting An Intensive Care Centre for the Treatment of Critically Ill Patients with COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.Participants We included patients aged 18 years or older who were critically ill with COVID-19 and presented to the study centre from 30 July 2021 to 15 October 2021. We excluded patients who did not have serum IL-6 measurements between admission and the end of the first day.Primary outcome measures The primary outcome was hospital all-cause mortality.Results Of 90 patients, 41.1% were men, the median age was 60.5 years (Q1–Q3: 52.0–71.0), and 76.7% of patients died in the hospital. Elevated IL-6 levels were observed on admission (41.79 pg/mL; Q1–Q3: 20.68–106.27) and on the third day after admission (72.00 pg/mL; Q1–Q3: 26.98–186.50), along with a significant rate of change in IL-6 during that period (839.5%; SD: 2753.2). While admission IL-6 level (areas under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AUROC): 0.610 (95% CI: 0.459 to 0.761); cut-off value ≥15.8 pg/mL) and rate of change in IL-6 on the third day of admission (AUROC: 0.586 (95% CI: 0.420 to 0.751); cut-off value ≥−58.7%) demonstrated poor discriminatory ability in predicting hospital mortality, the third day IL-6 rate of change from admission ≥−58.7% (adjusted OR: 12.812; 95% CI: 2.104 to 78.005) emerged as an independent predictor of hospital mortality.Conclusions This study focused on a highly selected cohort of critically ill COVID-19 patients with a high IL-6 level and mortality rate. Despite the poor discriminatory value of admission IL-6 levels, the rate of change in IL-6 proved valuable in predicting mortality. To identify critically ill COVID-19 patients with the highest risk for mortality, monitoring the serial serum IL-6 measurements and observing the rate of change in serum IL-6 levels over time are needed.

Dạy học trực tuyến không phải là một hình thức giảng dạy mới nhưng đến năm 2021, khi đại dịch Covid-19 diễn tiến phức tạp, các trường đại học ở Việt Nam mới đồng loạt áp dụng phương pháp này. Để nâng cao chất lượng giảng dạy trực tuyến, việc đánh giá sự hài lòng của sinh viên về những trải nghiệm sau 03 năm học trực tuyến là cần thiết. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu: xây dựng và kiểm định thang đo sự hài lòng của sinh viên Y khoa về học trực tuyến. Một nghiên cứu kết hợp dạng thiết kế khai thác đã tiến hành qua 04 giai đoạn: xây dựng thang đo nháp, kiểm định tính giá trị hình thức, kiểm định về mặt ngữ nghĩa và kiểm định về mặt thống kê. Các kỹ thuật định tính (thảo luận nhóm, phỏng vấn) và định lượng (phân tích nhân tố và mô hình cấu trúc tuyến tính) được sử dụng. Kết quả, 01 thang đo gồm 03 thành phần (công nghệ và quản trị lớp học, giảng viên, tài liệu học tập) với 14 biến số đã được phát triển. Sau kiểm định, thang đo cho thấy tính giá trị và độ tin cậy tốt. Vì vậy, có thể sử dụng để đánh giá sự hài lòng của sinh viên về dạy học trực tuyến.

Joubert syndrome (JS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder with brain stem and cerebellar malformations. Early diagnosis through Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography (US) is crucial for managing this condition. This report presents a JS case diagnosed at 24 weeks of pregnancy. A 25-year-old gravida 2, para 1 woman was referred at 24 weeks’ gestation for suspected posterior fossa abnormalities. Ultrasound revealed normal cerebellar hemispheres but significant abnormalities in the cerebellar vermis, including the molar tooth sign and polydactyly, suggesting JS. The fetal MRI confirmed these findings. Following specialist consultations, the patient opted to terminate the pregnancy. A stillborn female infant was delivered, and genomic DNA sequencing identified a frameshift deletion in the AHI1 gene. Early prenatal diagnosis of JS is crucial for informed pregnancy management. The combination of ultrasonography, MRI, and genomic DNA sequencing proved effective for diagnosis.

Prostatic stromal sarcoma (PSS) is a rare malignant tumor that often occurs in young people. Despite the fact that their clinical pathological characteristics are well known, our understanding of the imaging characteristics still seems to be limited. In our search of the literature, PSS articles are mainly present as case reports. In this case series of PSS, we aimed to thoroughly describe the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features, histopathological findings, and distinguishing hallmarks from prostate cancer (PCA).

Yersinochloa nianheana sp. nov. from Vietnam is described and illustrated. It is found in southern Vietnam, where it occurs at an elevation of 1400–1500 m in Voi Mountain, Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province. This new species is distinguished from a similar species, Yersinochloa dalatensis, by culm nodes with a thick swollen patella, culm leaf blades erect, auricles conspicuous, margins bearing long hairs, palea dorsal view showing rachilla extension and rudimentary floret at the apex and lodicules purple gradually towards the top. Besides that, the species is distinguished from Yersinochloa nghiana by the leaf blades without being swollen at the base, the prophyllate bud 2-keeled, lodicules purple at ½ upper parts and unbifid at the base.

Abstract BIVV003 is a gene-edited autologous cell therapy in clinical development for the potential treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD). Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are genetically modified with mRNA encoding zinc finger nucleases (ZFN) that target and disrupt a specific regulatory GATAA motif in the BCL11A erythroid enhancer to reactivate fetal hemoglobin (HbF). We characterized ZFN-edited HSC from healthy donors and donors with SCD. Results of preclinical studies show that ZFN-mediated editing is highly efficient, with enriched biallelic editing and high frequency of on-target indels, producing HSC capable of long-term multilineage engraftment in vivo, and express HbF in erythroid progeny. Interim results from the Phase 1/2 PRECIZN-1 study demonstrated that BIVV003 was well-tolerated in seven participants with SCD, of whom five of the six with more than 3 months of follow-up displayed increased total hemoglobin and HbF, and no severe vaso-occlusive crises. Our data suggest BIVV003 represents a compelling and novel cell therapy for the potential treatment of SCD.

Abstract Background In Vietnam, there is a paucity of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) research on people with depression as well as a lack of evidence on supported self-management (SSM) intervention for depression on HRQoL. This study aimed to compare the HRQoL of people with depression and age-matched people in the Vietnamese population, evaluate the effects of Tele-SSM intervention on HRQoL, and examine the association between the changes in HRQoL score and mental health well-being (depression, anxiety, and stress). Methods This study was a pre- and post-study involving Vietnamese adults aged 18–64 who had depression symptoms (score ≥ 5 points in the PHQ-9). Participants (N = 58) completed Tele-SSM—a supported self-management intervention incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy and non-violent communication and using a task-shifting approach. To compare with the general population, we conducted a 1-to-1 matching by age with an EQ-5D-5L valuation study with a nationally representative sample of the Vietnamese general population. Results HRQoL was significantly impaired in people with depression compared to the age-matched general population. Regarding health profile, participants reported the most difficulties in usual activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression dimensions. Significant improvements were observed in HRQoL scores post-intervention compared to pre-intervention in both EQ-VAS scores (from 59.84 to 79.48) and utility scores (from 0.79 to 0.90). These results remained lower than the age-matched general population (EQ-VAS score = 83.28, utility score = 0.96). Depression was associated with lower HRQoL while controlling for stress, anxiety symptoms and sociodemographic characteristics. Conclusions These results indicate that HRQoL is significantly impaired in people with depression and contribute to providing empirical evidence of Tele-SSM intervention in improving HRQoL. Further randomized controlled trials should be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the Tele-SSM intervention.

Objective: To determine the relationship between the early embryo viability assessment (EEVA) and blastocyst morphological parameters and pregnancy outcomes. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on 291 intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles including 2 522 embryos with indications of prolonging embryo culture to the blastocyst stage in the Genea embryo review incubator, and 511 single vitrified- warmed blastocyst transfer cycles from January 2020 to June 2023. The EEVA system produced an EEVA score from E1 (best) to E5 (worse) for the potential of blastocyst formation. Blastocyst morphology was evaluated. The association between the EEVA score and each type of blastocyst morphology, implantation rate, clinical pregnancy, and ongoing pregnancy were assessed using generalized estimating equations. Results: The inner cell mass A (ICM A), trophectoderm A (TE A), blastocoele expansion degree of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 rates were higher with lower the EEVA score.
