Laser-plasma driven accelerators have become reliable sources of low-emittance, broadband and multi-species ion sources, with cut-off energies above the MeV-level*. We report on the development, construction, and experimental test of an angle resolved Thomson parabola spectrometer for laser-accelerated multi-MeV ion beams able to distinguish between ionic species with different q/m ratio. The angular resolving power, which is achieved due to an array of entrance pinholes, can be simply adjusted by modifying the geometry of the experiment and/or the pinhole array itself. The analysis procedure allows for different ion traces to cross on the detector plane, which greatly enhances the flexibility and capabilities of the detector. A full characterization of the TP magnetic field has been implemented into a relativistic code developed for the trajectory calculation of each beamlet. High repetition rate compatibility is guaranteed by the use of a MCP as active particle detector. Si riporta un nuovomodello di sviluppo nel settore agricolo delle aree interne della Regione campania dopo che dal 2010 è stato abolito il contributo alla coltivazione di tabacco che ha ridotto notevolmente i redditi agricoli. Sono proposti nuovi ordinamenti colturali a basso impatto ambientale con l'introduzione di nuove colture come la canapa per uso alimentare, il sorgo bianco, i legumi ed i grani antichi. Sono state proposte anche nuove colture per la prima volta in Italia come al quinoa. Il modello di sviluppo prevede che oltre al settore alimentare con la canapa si possa avviare anche quello della bioedilizia dall'utilizzazione del canapulo per abbassare notevolmente le emissioni nel settore dell'edilizia civile. Nell'ambito dei borghi in rete si può sostenere il reddito anche con l'introduzione del bioartigianato derivante dall'utilizzo di scarti agricoli. La possibilità di avviare nuove attività economiche è necessaria evitare lo spopolamento di queste aree che hanno perso negli ultimi 10 anni il 30% della popolazione per lo piu giovanile. L'introduzione di queste nuove colture dovrebbe garantire un reddito più elevato rispetto a quelle classiche dell' area basate soprattutto sui cereali.

AIM: Sclerosing cholangitis (SC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease that is being increasingly diagnosed in childhood. The long-term course and prognosis of pediatric SC are poorly described. METHODS: We reviewed data of pediatric SC patients, followed in two referral centers, during a period of up to 20 years. We aimed to evaluate long-term outcomes according to SC phenotype. RESULTS: Among 45 patients (median age, 10.4 years; male patients, 73.4%) 29 (64.4%) were asymptomatic at presentation. Twenty patients (44%) had a concomitant inflammatory bowel disease (SC/IBD). Autoimmune features were found in 20 patients (44%). Liver biopsy showed severe fibrosis or cirrhosis in 32% of cases. Patients with SC alone had a higher rate of interface hepatitis at liver biopsy than SC/IBD patients. All children received ursodeoxycholic acid at diagnosis, and 17 received steroids and/or azathioprine. After a mean follow-up of 8.7 ± 5.6 years, all patients were alive and seven developed at least one liver-related complication. At the end of follow-up, 10 patients stopped immunosuppressants and two had no therapy. Only two patients underwent liver transplantation. Complication-free survival did not differ between SC/IBD and SC patients, but survival was longer in patients without autoimmune features. CONCLUSIONS: In our early diagnosed cohort, the 9-year survival with native liver was better than that reported in other studies. Approximately 15% of patients developed liver-related disease complications, less than previously reported. The long-term course of SC was negatively influenced by the presence of autoimmune features, but not by concomitant IBD.

Purpose of this paper: This paper aims to quantify the logistics and environmental impacts reduction associated to the use of intermodality for the delivery, collection, and transport processes of a closed-loop supply chain of reusable plastic crates for fruit and vegetable products. Design/methodology/approach: The adopted approach focus on the optimization of the transport process, minimizing the level of approximation in the input data. To validate the proposed approach a multi-scenario what-if analysis is performed according to the case study from the network of an Italian pooler operating in the retail supply chain on fruit and vegetable. Results are generated through a decision support tool that aids a data-driven assessment of the storage and distribution operations experienced by the reusable plastic crates. This tool imports the business case data instance, embeds a Geographic Information System (GIS), and implements an accounting functionality that quantifies the travelling distance, the environmental impacts (e.g., GHGs emissions) and the costs associated to the transport activities. Findings: We quantify the main categories of impacts among the set of accounted greenhouse gases emissions and the total transportation costs. Results showcase a total transportation costs reduction of the 11,7% in the proposed to-be scenario, while the number of kilograms of CO2Eq decreases by the 9,2%. Value: The original contribution of this paper lies on the research area of the investigation of closed loop supply chains (CLSC) performance in relationships with the sustainability topic. Moreover, differently from other approach to the evaluation of the environmental impacts (e.g. the LCA), this paper reduce the boundaries of the analysis to the transport process only, however focusing on the minimization of the level of data approximation while enhancing the reliability of the results. Practical implications: We illustrate an approach and a support-decision tool that allow the analysis and quantification of the costs, impacts and benefits resulting by the adoption of alternative modes of transport in a reusable packaging system. Therefore, practical implications involve helping managers of re-usable package pooling systems in the decision-making about the adoption of intermodality. Furthermore, the simulation tool may support fruit and vegetables producers in the decision-making process over the type of package network to implement.

In this paper we report the results of experiments on LIFT performed using single pulses from a mode locked (40ps pulses), frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser (energy flux ≈ 13J/cm at λ = 532 nm). We studied the controlled transfer of thin films of different metallic materials to a receiving substrate. Optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as well as Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) analysis were performed, showing evidence of the production of micrometric scale patterns. One of our objectives is to investigate and develop possible applications of LIFT in jewellery industry. In order to understand the experimental results we developed a simple analytical model based on the Rankine-Hugoniot relations. Comparison between experimental and simulated results is presented.
