Benchmarking leading data serialization protocols such as schemaless JSON with binary serialization formats demonstrates the superior performance of the latter in Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems. However, ease of integration and maintenance are equally important factors for real-world applications. IoT developers choose schemaless JSON formats for primary serialization because of their user-friendliness. However, interest in using Protocol Buffers directly at the device level in Internet of Things ecosystems is growing. Many IoT devices now transfer data exclusively via Protobuf, while others are switching to this format to improve efficiency and reduce network load. However, the static nature of Protobuf requires constant developer intervention, which undermines the scalability and versatility of the platforms, especially in cloud deployments. We explore the challenges of integrating devices that communicate exclusively through Protobuf into IoT platforms using the ThingsBoard as an example. Our study proposes a dynamic method for integrating new Protobuf-compatible devices by automating the compilation of the scheme into the platform’s code base. This approach aims to simplify integration and maintenance, which, in addition to productivity, are key factors in operating efficiency in IoT environments.

Please see: Retraction of published article due to the author’s proposal - 23 March 2023 Wireless Touch Networks (WTN) have become increasingly important with the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and are regarded as a class of self-organizing networks. This article presents an overview of the construction principles, routing protocols, quality of service parameters, traffic models, and characteristics of WTN. The article also explores the application of dynamic routing protocols for constructing a self-organizing network of autonomous IoT systems. Known dynamic routing protocols for mobile radio networks are reviewed and the advantages and disadvantages of proactive and reactive approaches are discussed.

The study proves relevance of specialized software use to solve problems of emergencies prevention of radioactive liquids spills to teach students and graduate students. Main assessment criteria of accidents at radiation-hazardous objects associated with radioactive liquids spillage is identified. A model of radioactive substances transport in emergency rooms is developed. It takes into account physical features of radioactive liquid spill from the source, air pollution during transition of radioactive liquid from the spill surface into the air and subsequent scattering in the emergency room under influence of local air flows. It is determined that the existing software tools for radiation exposure assessment do not comprehensively cover features of such events and possess number of shortcomings regarding accidents modeling with spillage of radioactive liquids indoors. Computer modeling and forecasting examples for hypothetical event related to liquid radioactive spill in the JRODOS system are presented. The training process of future specialists, specialties 183 “Environmental Protection Technologies”, 143 “Nuclear Energy”, 103 “Earth Sciences”, and 122 “Computer Science” should be based on application of powerful scientific and methodological training base using modern achievements in the field of digital technologies. It is advisable to supplement curricula for students` and postgraduate students’ preparation in the mentioned above specialties by studying issues related to: development of mathematical models and software for solving problems of emergencies prevention in case of radioactive liquids spills; usage of features of specialized decision software of emergencies prevention during spills of radioactive liquids.

The publication explores the features of the digital technologies’ usage to organize the work of the Young Scientists’ Councils and describes the best practices. The digital transformation of society and the quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have forced the use of various digital technologies for scientific communication, the organization of work for youth associations, and the training of students and Ph.D. students. An important role in increasing the prestige of scientific activity and encouraging talented young people to participate in scientific projects belongs to the Young Scientists’ Councils, which are created at scientific institutions and higher education institutions. It is determined that the peculiarities of the work of Young Scientists’ Councils are in providing conditions for further staff development of the institution in which they operate; contribution to the social, psychological and material support of young scientists and Ph.D. students; creating an environment for teamwork and collaborative partnership; development of leadership and organizational qualities; contribution to the development of digital competence. The advantages of using electronic social networks in higher education and research institutions are analyzed, namely: general popularity and free of charge; prompt exchange of messages and multimedia data; user-friendly interface; availability of event planning functions, sending invitations, setting reminders; support of synchronous and asynchronous communication between network participants; possibility of access from various devices; a powerful tool for organizing the learning process; possibility of organization and work of closed and open groups; advertising of various events, etc. Peculiarities of managing the activity of the Young Scientists’ Council with the use of digital technologies are determined. The Young Scientists’ Council is a social system, and therefore the management of this system refers to social management. The effectiveness of the digital technologies’ usage to manage the activities of the Young Scientists’ Council depends on the intensity and need for their use to implement organizational, presentation functions and to ensure constant communication. The areas to apply digital technologies for the work managing of Young Scientists’ Councils are sorted as the presentation of activity; distribution of various information for young scientists; conducting questionnaires, surveys; organization and holding of scientific mass events; managing of thematic workgroups, holding of work meetings. It is generalized and described the experience of electronic social networks usage for organizing and conducting of scientific mass events.

The article is devoted to the issue of using open geographic information systems in training of the students majoring in «Computer Sciences» particularly in the framework of «Geographic information systems» discipline. The objectives, the task and the place of "Geographic information systems" discipline in the system of training the students of IT specialties have been determined. The analysis of curricula of several domestic higher education institutions that provide training in computer sciences has shown the prevailing orientation of using the proprietary geoinformation systems and technologies in the educational process. In the authors’ opinion, it sufficiently narrows the didactic potential of the «Geographic information systems» discipline reducing the level of its information saturation. It is proposed to use open geo-information systems in the learning process, which will create conditions for more qualitative and productive students’ understanding of creation, operation and implementation of geo-information systems to address real-world applied issues. A comparative analysis of the most worldwide open-source desktop geographic information systems has been conducted in order to identify their potential for the use of training. The directions of using open geo-information systems from the point of view of organizational process as well as from the perspective of training efficiency are described. The advantages and disadvantages of leveraging open geographic information systems, namely: QGIS, GRASS GIS, Whitebox GAT, Saga GIS, gvSiG, ILWIS, uDIG, MapWindow GIS for the teaching of the «Geographic Information Systems» discipline have been determined. The authors recommend to use such open geographic information systems as uDIG, QGIS, Whitebox GAT in the teaching of the university discipline at the start of educational courses; the choice of geographic information systems for senior students is limited solely to the goals and objectives set by the university teachers to future professionals in computer sciences.

У статті обґрунтовано важливість проведення екологічного моніторингу приземного шару атмосфери з використанням спеціалізованих програмно-моделюючих систем. Описано основні напрями досліджень у галузі екологічного моніторингу приземного шару атмосфери. Коротко описано інформаційно-програмне забезпечення для задач моніторингу й контролю екологічного стану урбанізованих територій (система AISEEM), що було розроблено авторами даної статті. Обґрунтовано особливості проведення спецкурсу «Методи та засоби екологічного моніторингу приземного шару атмосфери» для навчання майбутніх фахівців у галузі екології й охорони навколишнього природного середовища з використанням спеціалізованих програмно-моделюючих систем. Визначено завдання спецкурсу й описано його змістові модулі: «Нормативно-правове забезпечення в галузі екології та охорони навколишнього природного середовища»; «Екологічний моніторинг приземного шару атмосфери», «Методи та засоби вирішення задач екологічного моніторингу приземного шару атмосфери»; «Інформаційні системи в галузі екології та охорони навколишнього природного середовища». Описано основні компоненти спецкурсу «Методи та засоби екологічного моніторингу приземного шару атмосфери» з використанням спеціалізованих програмно-моделюючих систем для підготовки майбутніх фахівців у галузі екології й охорони навколишнього природного середовища. Пропонований спецкурс складається з лекцій і практичних занять, передбачає проведення консультацій і самостійну позааудиторну роботу студентів. Розглядаються переваги застосування сучасних комп’ютерних систем екологічного моніторингу для задач управління якістю атмосферного повітря. Використання майбутніми фахівцями в галузі екології й охорони навколишнього природного середовища спеціалізованих програмно-моделюючих систем дозволить оволодіти знаннями і практичними навичками для розв’язання задач аналізу, моделювання, прогнозування та візуалізації даних моніторингу стану атмосферного повітря.

After analysis of scientific literature, we defined that concept of “augmented reality” has following synonyms: “advanced reality”, “improved reality”, “enriched reality”, “mixed reality” and “hybrid reality”. Analysis of scientific literature and own practical experience of the use of augmented reality technologies application in educational practices allowed to state next: augmented reality technologies have a great potential for application in education; there are some cases of augmented reality use for school education; positive aspects of augmented reality technologies application in higher education institutions are confirmed by experiments (isolated cases); only few universities in Ukraine apply augmented reality technologies to educate students; only few universities in Ukraine have special subjects or modules in schedule to teach students to develop augmented reality technologies; various scientific events, mass events, competitions are held in Ukraine, and specialized training on the augmentation of augmented reality technologies is carried out, but this is non-systematic and does not have special state orientation and support. Features of introduction of virtual and augmented reality technologies at Sumy State University (Ukraine) are identified: “e-learning ecosystems” was created; in 2019, augmented and virtual reality research laboratory was established. Advantages and disadvantages of project activity in education are described: project activity is one of the most important components of educational process; it promotes creative self-development and self-realization of project implementers and forms various life competencies. It is determined that augmented reality application for implementation of educational projects will help: to increase students’ interest for educational material; formation of new competences; increase of students’ motivation for independent educational and cognitive activity; activation of educational activities; formation of positive motivation for personal and professional growth; conditions creation for development of personal qualities (creativity, teamwork, etc.). Current trends in implementation of educational projects were identified: most of the winner projects were implemented using augmented reality technology; augmented reality technologies were used in projects to teach different disciplines in higher education institutions. Augmented reality technology application for project activity has positive impact on learning outcomes and competitiveness of the national workforce; it will enhance the country’s position in the global economic space.
