Search

A search for Dark Sectors is performed using the unique M2 beam line at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. New particles ($X$) could be produced in the bremsstrahlung-like reaction of high energy 160 GeV muons impinging on an active target, $\mu N\rightarrow\mu NX$, followed by their decays, $X\rightarrow\text{invisible}$. The experimental signature would be a scattered single muon from the target, with about less than half of its initial energy and no activity in the sub-detectors located downstream the interaction point. The full sample of the 2022 run is analyzed through the missing energy/momentum channel, with a total statistics of $(1.98\pm0.02)\times10^{10}$ muons on target. We demonstrate that various muon-philic scenarios involving different types of mediators, such as scalar or vector particles, can be probed simultaneously with such a technique. For the vector-case, besides a $L_\mu-L_\tau$ $Z'$ vector boson, we also consider an invisibly decaying dark photon ($A'\rightarrow\text{invisible}$). This search is complementary to NA64 running with electrons and positrons, thus, opening the possibility to expand the exploration of the thermal light dark matter parameter space by combining the results obtained with the three beams., Comment: 24 pages, 22 figures

This paper presents the multiplicity of neutral and charged hadrons produced in 90 GeV$/c$ proton-carbon interactions from a dataset taken by the NA61/SHINE experiment in 2017. Particle identification via dE/dx was performed for the charged hadrons $\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $p / \bar{p}$; the neutral hadrons $K^0_S$, $\Lambda$, and $\bar{\Lambda}$ were identified via an invariant mass analysis of their decays to charged hadrons. Double-differential multiplicity results as a function of laboratory momentum and polar angle are presented for each particle species; these results provide vital constraints on the predicted neutrino beam flux for current and future long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.

The decay widths of $V \to K(\pi) l \bar{\nu}_l $ are calculated within the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, where $V=K^*, \rho, \omega, \phi$ and $l=\mu, e$. The results are obtained using the previously fixed model parameters without introducing any arbitrary parameters. We present the first complete two-loop calculation of the electric dipole moment of the electron, as well as the rates of the lepton-flavor violating decays $\mu \to e + \gamma$ and $\tau \to e/\mu + \gamma$, in the unconstrained two-Higgs doublet model. We include the most generic Yukawa interactions of the Higgs doublets with the Standard Model fermions up to quadratic order, and allow for generic phases in the Higgs potential., Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures

We introduce the LLM Honeypot, a system for monitoring autonomous AI hacking agents. We deployed a customized SSH honeypot and applied prompt injections with temporal analysis to identify LLM-based agents among attackers. Over a trial run of a few weeks in a public environment, we collected 800,000 hacking attempts and 6 potential AI agents, which we plan to analyze in depth in future work. Our objectives aim to improve awareness of AI hacking agents and enhance preparedness for their risks.

The paper is concerned with the development of Lyapunov methods for the analysis of equilibrium stability in a dynamical system on the space of probability measures driven by a non-local continuity equation. We derive sufficient conditions of stability of an equilibrium distribution relying on an analysis of a non-smooth Lyapunov function. For the linear dynamics we reduce the stability analysis to a study of a quadratic form on a tangent space to the space of probability measures. These results are illustrated by the studies of the stability of the equilibrium measure for gradient flow in the space of probability measures and Gibbs measure for a system of coupled mathematical pendulums.

Thanks to their record high refractive index and giant optical anisotropy, van der Waals (vdW) materials have accelerated the development of nanophotonics. However, traditional high refractive index materials, such as titanium dioxide (TiO2), still dominate in the most important visible range. This is due to the current lack of transparent vdW materials across the entire visible spectrum. In this context, we propose that germanium disulfide (GeS2) could offer a significant breakthrough. With its high refractive index, negligible losses, and biaxial optical anisotropy across the whole visible range, GeS2 has the potential to complement TiO2 and close the application gap of vdW materials in the visible spectrum. The addition of GeS2 could have a profound impact on the design of van der Waals nanophotonic circuits for any operation wavelength from ultraviolet to infrared, emphasizing the significance of the potential impact of GeS2 on the field of nanophotonics., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures

We present results of atomic-level simulations of damage formation along the paths of swift heavy ions (SHI) decelerated in the electronic stopping regime in amorphous polyethylene. The applied model combines the Monte-Carlo code TREKIS-3, which describes excitation of the electronic and atomic systems around the ion trajectory, with molecular dynamics simulations of the response of the atomic system to the excitation. The simulation results were used to reconstruct the damage configuration, shape and size of the damaged region. We demonstrated that the positions of the maximum energy loss and maximum damage on the ion trajectory do not coincide, being separated by more than 10 micrometers. The difference between the thresholds of damage production by ions with energies realizing the opposite shoulders of the Bragg curve of the electronic stopping was found. We also analyzed the spatial distribution of chemically active fragments of polyethylene chains formed around the ion trajectory as a function of SHI energy.

We present the first results from a proof-of-concept search for dark sectors via invisible decays of pseudoscalar $\eta$ and $\eta'$ mesons in the NA64h experiment at the CERN SPS. Our novel technique uses the charge-exchange reaction of 50 GeV $\pi^-$ on nuclei of an active target as the source of neutral mesons. The $\eta, \eta' \to invisible$ events would exhibit themselves via a striking signature - the complete disappearance of the incoming beam energy in the detector. No evidence for such events has been found with $2.9\times10^{9}$ pions on target accumulated during one day of data taking. This allows us to set a stringent limit on the branching ratio ${\rm Br}(\eta' \to invisible) < 2.1 \times 10^{-4}$ improving the current bound by a factor of $\simeq3$. We also set a limit on ${\rm Br}(\eta \to invisible) < 1.1 \times 10^{-4}$ comparable with the existing one. These results demonstrate the great potential of our approach and provide clear guidance on how to enhance and extend the sensitivity for dark sector physics from future searches for invisible neutral meson decays., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures

Most general dynamics of an open quantum system is commonly represented by a quantum channel, which is a completely positive trace-preserving map (CPTP or Kraus map). Well-known are the representations of quantum channels by Choi matrices and by Kraus operator-sum representation (OSR). As was shown before, one can use Kraus OSR to parameterize quantum channels by points of a suitable quotient under the action of the unitary group of some complex Stiefel manifold. In this work, we establish a continuity relation (homeomorphism) between the topological space of quantum channels and the quotient of the complex Stiefel manifold. Then the metric on the set of quantum channels induced by the Riemannian metric on the Stiefel manifold is defined. The established relation can be applied to various quantum optimization problems. As an example, we apply it to the analysis of extrema points for a wide variety of quantum control objective functionals defined on the complex Stiefel manifolds, including mean value, generation of quantum gates, thermodynamic quantities involving entropy, etc., Comment: 21 pages

Two-dimensional materials have attracted considerable attention due to their remarkable electronic, mechanical and optical properties, making them prime candidates for next-generation electronic and optoelectronic applications. Despite their widespread use in combination with substrates in practical applications, including the fabrication process and final device assembly, computational studies often neglect the effects of substrate interactions for simplicity. This study presents a novel method for predicting the atomic structure of 2D materials on arbitrary substrates by combining an evolutionary algorithm, a lattice-matching technique, an automated machine learning interatomic potentials training protocol, and the ab initio thermodynamics approach for predicting the possible conditions of experimental synthesis of the predicted 2D structures. Using the Mo-S system on a c-cut sapphire substrate as a case study, we reveal several new stable and metastable structures, including previously known 1H-MoS2 and newly found Pmma Mo3S2, P-1 Mo2S, P21m Mo5S3, and P4mm Mo4S, where the Mo4S structure is specifically stabilized by interaction with the substrate. Electronic band structure calculations of Mo3S2, Mo2S, Mo5S3, and Mo4S showed their metallic behavior, while phonon properties calculations indicated their dynamic stability and substrate-induced modulation of the phonon density of states. Finally, we use the ab initio thermodynamics approach to predict the synthesis conditions of the discovered structures in the parameter space of the commonly used CVD technique. These results provide insights into computational substrate engineering, allowing one to study the substrate effect on the thermodynamic and dynamical stability of 2D materials and to modulate their electronic and phonon properties for their future applications, as well as to provide guide maps for their experimental synthesis.

In the context of simplified models of dark matter, the contributions of a scalar mediator to top quark production processes are considered. Tree-level and one-loop contributions of the mediator's decay into a top-antitop quark pair in two-, three-, and four-top quarks production processes are calculated. A significant contribution from diagrams involving the dark matter mediator is demonstrated in the total cross section for three- and four-top quark production processes, taking into account current experimental limits on model parameters. The perspective of searching for dark matter mediators in the processes under consideration is determined by the ability to reconstruct the final state with modern collider detectors and the experimental sensitivity that has already been achieved for such rare events., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, 6 tables

It is shown that the processes $e^+ e^- \to \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $\tau^- \to \pi^- \pi^0 \nu_\tau$ can be described in a unified approach in satisfactory agreement with experiment using the vector coupling constant $g_{\rho} = 6$. In this case, in addition to quark loops, it is also necessary to take into account meson loops corresponding to the next order in $1/N_c$. Superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor Josephson junctions are paradigmatic systems for studying the delicate interplay of superconductivity and magnetism via proximity effects as well as their composite excitations. Here, we analyse the collective modes (CM) in such a heterostructure by taking into account the interplay between the de-magnetisation field $H_{dem}$ and the field caused by the anisotropy of the ferromagnet $H_{an}$, which was previously neglected. It turns out that the spectrum of composite collective modes, $\omega(k)$, has a qualitatively different form in the case of $H_{dem}H_{an}$. In the first case, the dependence $\omega(k)$ has the same form as in previous studies, whereas in the second case, the spectrum looks completely different. In particular, for moderate or weak anisotropy in ferromagnet the group velocity of collective modes demonstrates inflection point where the group velocity become infinite and is superluminal. Furthermore, this point separates purely real and complex-conjugate solutions for the collective modes and is also {\it exception point}. We show that the difference of the CMs spectra can be revealed by Fiske experiment, i.\,e.\,by measuring the $I-V$ characteristics in the presence of magnetic field and voltage., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

We show that extensive LLM safety fine-tuning is easily subverted when an attacker has access to model weights. We evaluate three state-of-the-art fine-tuning methods-QLoRA, ReFT, and Ortho-and show how algorithmic advances enable constant jailbreaking performance with cuts in FLOPs and optimisation power. We strip safety fine-tuning from Llama 3 8B in one minute and Llama 3 70B in 30 minutes on a single GPU, and sketch ways to reduce this further.

We construct static and axially symmetric magnetically charged hairy black holes in the gravity-coupled Weinberg-Salam theory. Large black holes merge with the Reissner-Nordstr\"om (RN) family, while the small ones are extremal and support a hair in the form of a ring-shaped electroweak condensate carrying superconducting W-currents and up to $22\%$ of the total magnetic charge. The extremal solutions are asymptotically RN with a mass {\it below} the total charge, $M<|Q|$, due to the negative Zeeman energy of the condensate interacting with the black hole magnetic field. Therefore, they cannot decay into RN black holes. As their charge increases, they show a phase transition when the horizon symmetry changes from spherical to oblate. At this point they have the mass typical for planetary size black holes of which $\approx 11\%$ is stored in the hair. The robustness of the macroscopic quantum nature of a superconductor can be characterized by the superfluid stiffness, $\rho_s$, a quantity that describes the energy required to vary the phase of the macroscopic quantum wave function. In unconventional superconductors, such as cuprates, the low-temperature behavior of $\rho_s$ drastically differs from that of conventional superconductors due to quasiparticle excitations from gapless points (nodes) in momentum space. Intensive research on the recently discovered magic-angle twisted graphene family has revealed, in addition to superconducting states, strongly correlated electronic states associated with spontaneously broken symmetries, inviting the study of $\rho_s$ to uncover the potentially unconventional nature of its superconductivity. Here we report the measurement of $\rho_s$ in magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene (TTG), revealing unconventional nodal-gap superconductivity. Utilizing radio-frequency reflectometry techniques to measure the kinetic inductive response of superconducting TTG coupled to a microwave resonator, we find a linear temperature dependence of $\rho_s$ at low temperatures and nonlinear Meissner effects in the current bias dependence, both indicating nodal structures in the superconducting order parameter. Furthermore, the doping dependence shows a linear correlation between the zero temperature $\rho_s$ and the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$, reminiscent of Uemura's relation in cuprates, suggesting phase-coherence-limited superconductivity. Our results provide strong evidence for nodal superconductivity in TTG and put strong constraints on the mechanisms of these graphene-based superconductors.

Motivated by the recent discovery of dielectric relaxation by quantum critical magnons in Cs$_2$Cu$_2$Mo$_3$O$_{12}$, we conduct a detailed analysis of its dielectric response and compare it to that in the isostructural compound Rb$_2$Cu$_2$Mo$_3$O$_{12}$. Measurements in the vicinity of the field-induced magnon softening show that its description in terms of 3D Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons quantum critical point is unaltered by the presence of dielectric relaxation. We also demonstrate the existence of dielectric relaxation anomalies at 19 K in Rb$_2$Cu$_2$Mo$_3$O$_{12}$ and discuss the implications for the microscopic origin of dielectric activity in two compounds., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures

We analytically investigate the plasmons propagating in a homogeneous two-dimensional (2D) electron system, along the metal grating in the form of a periodic array of strip-shaped electrodes (gates) in the vicinity of the 2D system. We show that in the case of semi-infinite grating, the Tamm plasmon modes localized near and propagating along the grating edge can exist in the gaps of the plasmonic band structure provided that the last gate differs in width from the other gates. When the last gate is wider, the spectrum of the fundamental Tamm plasmon mode lies in the lowest frequency gap, below the first plasmonic band. Importantly, we find the mode to exist in this case only for finite values of the wave vector along the grating. Otherwise, if the width of the last gate is smaller, the Tamm plasmon modes occupy higher frequency gaps, and delocalized plasmons from the first frequency band become the lowest frequency excitations., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures

We obtain the exact physical characteristics of the triple-chain Ising model on a torus with all possible multispin interactions invariant with respect to rotation by the angle $2\pi / 3$. The exact value of the partition function in a finite cyclically closed strip of length $L$, as well as the free energy, internal energy, specific heat, magnetization, susceptibility, and entropy in the thermodynamic limit at $L \to \infty$ are found by the transfer-matrix method for the model. The spectrum of the transfer-matrix and the structure of its eigenvectors are found. For two special cases - for the model with multispin interactions of even number of spins and for the model with some interactions of two, three, four and six spins, simplified expressions of the mentioned physical characteristics are obtained; in the thermodynamic limit they are expressed through the logarithm of the root of the quadratic equation. For the model with multispin interactions of an even number of spins, a kind of pair correlations in the thermodynamic limit is found, and it is shown that the magnetization at zero magnetic field is equal to zero; the structure of the ground states of the system is found and examples of their projections of seven-dimensional space onto three-dimensional space and examples of configurations corresponding to these ground states are given. The correlation length is shown and its graphs are given. As special cases, we consider the planar triangular model with all possible interactions, including, perhaps, different triple interactions inside neighboring triangles, and the planar model with nearest-neighbor, next nearest-neighbor, and plaquette interactions. For them the main exact physical characteristics have been found. This allowed us to obtain them for the planar gonihedric model as well., Comment: 53 pages, 21 figures

At ambient conditions, SiC is known to be resistant to irradiation with swift heavy ions (SHI) decelerating in the electronic stopping regime. However, there is no experimental data on the SiC irradiation at elevated temperatures. To investigate this problem, we evaluate the stability of SiC to SHI impacts at high temperatures up to 2200 K. We apply the combination of the Monte-Carlo code TREKIS-3, describing excitation of the electronic and atomic systems using temperature-dependent scattering cross-sections, with molecular-dynamic modeling of the lattice response to the excitation. We demonstrate that increasing irradiation temperature increases the energy transferred to the atomic lattice from the excited electronic system. This material heating leads to formation of a stable nanometric damaged core along the trajectory of 710 MeV Bi ion when the irradiation temperature overcomes the threshold of ~1800 K. In this case, a chain of nanometric voids along the ion trajectory forms due to the mass transport from the track core by edge dislocations. Voids of larger sizes appear at higher irradiation temperatures. At lower irradiation temperatures, the damaged regions recrystallize completely within ~100 ps after the ion passage.

In the paper, we consider the processes of single top-quark production in association with dark matter particles through the t-channel in simplified models with scalar and pseudoscalar mediators. Within the framework of these models, we analyze the angular correlations that arise in the top quark production process in association with dark matter, comparing them with the production of a top quark in the Standard Model. We consider angular correlations of kinematic variables, which define admissible regions in momentum space and can be used experimentally to distinguish between the fraction of the total momentum carried away by the scalar or pseudoscalar mediator. We demonstrate that scalar mediator significantly changes the rest frame of the well-known angular correlation observable and changes the distributions. In this case, this variable provides clear separation between the SM and DM contribution and can be used to increase the sensitivity of future DM analyses., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures

Ultrafast laser radiation or beams of fast charged particles primarily excite the electronic system of a solid driving the target transiently out of thermal equilibrium. Apart from the nonequilibrium between the electrons and atoms, each subsystem may be far from equilibrium. From the first principles, we derive the definition of various atomic temperatures applicable to electronically excited ensembles. It is shown that the definition of the kinetic temperature of atoms in the momentum subspace is unaffected by the excitation of the electronic system. When the electronic temperature differs from the atomic one, an expression for the configurational atomic temperature is proposed, applicable to the electronic-temperature-dependent interatomic potentials (such as ab-initio molecular dynamics simulations). We study how the configurational temperature behaves during nonthermal phase transition, triggered by the evolution of the interatomic potential due to the electronic excitation. It is revealed that upon the ultrafast irradiation, the atomic system of a solid exists temporarily in a multi-temperature state: separate equilibria in the momentum and configurational subspaces. Complete equilibration between the various atomic temperatures takes place at longer timescales, forming the energy equipartition. Based on these results, we propose a formulation of multi-temperature heat transport equations.

Square lattice Hubbard models with tunable hopping ratio $t'/t$ are highly promising for realizing a variety of quantum phases and for shedding light on key puzzles in correlated quantum materials, including higher-temperature superconductivity. We show that twisted square lattice homo-bilayers generically offer such tunability when the flat bands originate from the corner of the Brillouin zone. We reveal an emergent symmetry at low twist-angles, absent in single layers, that necessitates the vanishing of nearest neighbor hopping ($t=0$). This symmetry can be lifted by an inter-layer displacement field or by an in-plane magnetic field, introducing tunable $t$ and anisotropy, allowing access to a wide range of $t'/t$ ratios for correlated electrons on a moir\'e square lattice., Comment: 5 pages + Supplementary

The Spin Physics Detector collaboration proposes to install a universal detector in the second interaction point of the NICA collider under construction (JINR, Dubna) to study the spin structure of the proton and deuteron and other spin-related phenomena using a unique possibility to operate with polarized proton and deuteron beams at a collision energy up to 27 GeV and a luminosity up to $10^{32}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. As the main goal, the experiment aims to provide access to the gluon TMD PDFs in the proton and deuteron, as well as the gluon transversity distribution and tensor PDFs in the deuteron, via the measurement of specific single and double spin asymmetries using different complementary probes such as charmonia, open charm, and prompt photon production processes. Other polarized and unpolarized physics is possible, especially at the first stage of NICA operation with reduced luminosity and collision energy of the proton and ion beams. This document is dedicated exclusively to technical issues of the SPD setup construction.

The inclusion of an additional $U(1)$ gauge $L_\mu-L_\tau$ symmetry would release the tension between the measured and the predicted value of the anomalous muon magnetic moment: this paradigm assumes the existence of a new, light $Z^\prime$ vector boson, with dominant coupling to $\mu$ and $\tau$ leptons and interacting with electrons via a loop mechanism. The $L_\mu-L_\tau$ model can also explain the Dark Matter relic abundance, by assuming that the $Z'$ boson acts as a "portal" to a new Dark Sector of particles in Nature, not charged under known interactions. In this work we present the results of the $Z'$ search performed by the NA64-$e$ experiment at CERN SPS, that collected $\sim 9\times10^{11}$ 100 GeV electrons impinging on an active thick target. Despite the suppressed $Z'$ production yield with an electron beam, NA64-$e$ provides the first accelerator-based results excluding the $g-2$ preferred band of the $Z'$ parameter space in the 1 keV $ < m_{Z'} \lesssim 2$ MeV range, in complementarity with the limits recently obtained by the NA64-$\mu$ experiment with a muon beam., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures. We report on a search for a new $Z'$ ($L_\mu-L_\tau$) vector boson performed at the NA64 experiment employing a high energy muon beam and a missing energy-momentum technique. Muons from the M2 beamline at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron with a momentum of 160 GeV/c are directed to an active target. A signal event is a single scattered muon with momentum $<$ 80 GeV/c in the final state, accompanied by missing energy, i.e. no detectable activity in the downstream calorimeters. For a total statistic of $(1.98\pm0.02)\times10^{10}$ muons on target, no event is observed in the expected signal region. This allows us to set new limits on part of the remaining $(m_{Z'},\ g_{Z'})$ parameter space which could provide an explanation for the muon $(g-2)_\mu$ anomaly. Additionally, our study excludes part of the parameter space suggested by the thermal Dark Matter relic abundance. Our results pave the way to explore Dark Sectors and light Dark Matter with muon beams in a unique and complementary way to other experiments., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

High fidelity generation of two-qubit gates is important for quantum computation, since such gates are components of popular universal sets of gates. Here we consider the problem of high fidelity generation of two-qubit C-NOT and C-PHASE (with a detailed study of C-Z) gates in presence of the environment. We consider the general situation when qubits are manipulated by coherent and incoherent controls; the latter is used to induce generally time-dependent decoherence rates. For estimating efficiency of optimization methods for high fidelity generation of these gates, we study quantum control landscapes which describe the behaviour of the fidelity as a function of the controls. For this, we generate and analyze the statistical distributions of best objective values obtained by incoherent GRadient Ascent Pulse Engineering (inGRAPE) approach. We also apply inGRAPE and stochastic zero-order method to numerically estimate minimal infidelity values. The results are different from the case of single-qubit gates and indicate a smooth trap-free behaviour of the fidelity., Comment: 35 pages, 6 figures

We show that driving optical phonons above a threshold fluence induces spatiotemporal orders, where material properties oscillate at an incommensurate wavevector $q_0$ in space and at half the drive frequency in time. The order is robust against temperature on timescales much larger than the lifetime of the excited modes and can be accompanied by a static $2q_0$ modulation. We make predictions for time-resolved diffraction and provide estimates for candidate materials. We present a model of non-ionizing scattering of electrons on atomic ensemble in matter, applicable in a wide electron energy range from ~eV up to relativistic ones. The approach based on the dynamic-structure factor formalism considers collective response of the atomic and electronic systems of a target. It accounts for dynamical screening of atomic nuclei in matter by valence (collective) and core-shell electrons during the scattering events, dependent on the incident electron velocity. The proposed formalism for the cross section enables us to describe in a unified manner the electron scattering on the ensemble of isolated atomic nuclei at high incident electron energies, reducing to the scattering on phonons with decrease of the energy. Our model can be used, e.g., in transport Monte Carlo codes to describe the energy exchange between excited electrons and atomic ensemble in matter. An example of swift heavy ion track formation in quartz simulated with the proposed cross section shows a reasonable agreement with the experiment validating the model.

Magic-Angle Twisted Bilayer Graphene shows a wide range of correlated phases which are electrostatically tunable. Despite a growing knowledge of the material, there is yet no consensus on the microscopic mechanisms driving its superconducting phase. In particular, elucidating the symmetry and formation mechanism of the superconducting phase may provide key insights for the understanding of unconventional, strongly coupled and topological superconductivity. A major obstacle to progress in this direction is that key thermodynamic properties, such as specific heat, electron-phonon coupling and superfluid stiffness, are extremely challenging to measure due to the 2D nature of the material and its relatively low energy scales. Here, we use a gate-defined, radio frequency-biased, Josephson junction to probe the electronic dynamics of magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene (MATBG). We reveal both the electronic quasiparticle dynamics, driven by their thermalization through phonon scattering, as well as the condensate dynamics, driven by the inertia of Cooper pairs. From these properties we recover the evolution of thermalization rates, and the superfluid stiffness across the phase diagram. Our findings favor an anisotropic or nodal pairing state and allow to estimate the strength of electron-phonon coupling. These results contribute to understanding the underlying mechanisms of superconductivity in MATBG while establishing an easy-to-implement method for characterizing thermal and superfluid properties of superconducting 2D materials., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

We introduce a simple dynamic model of opinion formation, in which a finite population of individuals hold vector-valued opinions. At each time step, each individual's opinion moves towards the mean opinion but is then perturbed independently by a centred multivariate Gaussian random variable, with covariance proportional to the covariance matrix of the opinions of the population. We establish precise necessary and sufficient conditions on the parameters of the model, under which all opinions converge to a common limiting value. Asymptotically perfect correlation emerges between opinions on different topics. Our results are rigorous and based on properties of the partial products of an i.i.d. sequence of random matrices. Each matrix is a fixed linear combination of the identity matrix and a real Ginibre matrix. We derive an analytic expression for the maximal Lyapunov exponent of this product sequence. We also analyze a continuous-time analogue of our model.

The generation of terawatt (TW) near-single-cycle laser pulses is of high interest for applications including attosecond science. Here we demonstrate a three-stage post-compression scheme in a non-guided geometry using He as the nonlinear medium, resulting in the generation of multi-mJ pulses with a duration of 3.7 fs. Key features of this approach are its simplicity, robustness and high stability, making it ideally suited for highly demanding applications such as attosecond-pump attosecond-probe spectroscopy (APAPS). This is demonstrated by performing two-color APAPS in Ar and Ne, where both simultaneous and sequential two-photon absorption are observed. Dyes used in industries such as textile, paper, and leather are known to be harmful to both human health and aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, finding effective and sustainable methods to remove dyes from wastewater is crucial for mitigating the detrimental effects of pollution.TiN nanoparticles have good absorption and conversion of light energy into thermal energy in the visible range of the spectrum, which makes them promising in various applications, from biomedical to environmental protection. In this work, it is shown that titanium nitride nanoparticles also possess promising adsorption capabilitieseffect. TiN nanoparticles were synthesized by laser ablation method in liquid. Water, acetone and acetonitrile are used as solvent. Nanoparticles were characterized by scanning and transmission microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, which showed the formation of the under-stoichiometric titanium nitride (TiN1-x). TiN nanoparticles are investigated as a promising object for high adsorption It is shown that adsorption of TiN nanoparticles is associated with the electrostatic effect and the presence of pores in the synthesized nanoparticles. Optimal dye absorption capabilities were found to be associated with a low amount of Ti vacancies and high amount of N vacancies acting as donor states. The LHCb detector has undergone a major upgrade for LHC Run 3. This Upgrade I detector facilitates operation at higher luminosity and utilises full-detector information at the LHC collision rate, critically including the use of vertex information. A new vertex locator system, the VELO Upgrade, has been constructed. The core element of the new VELO are the double-sided pixelated hybrid silicon detector modules which operate in vacuum close to the LHC beam in a high radiation environment. The construction and quality assurance tests of these modules are described in this paper. The modules incorporate 200 \mum thick, n-on-p silicon sensors bump-bonded to 130 \nm technology ASICs. These are attached with high precision to a silicon microchannel substrate that uses evaporative CO$_2$ cooling. The ASICs are controlled and read out with flexible printed circuits that are glued to the substrate and wire-bonded to the chips. The mechanical support of the module is given by a carbon fibre plate, two carbon fibre rods and an aluminium plate. The sensor attachment was achieved with an average precision of 21 $\mathrm{\mu m}$, more than 99.5\% of all pixels are fully functional, and a thermal figure of merit of 3 \mathrm{Kcm^{2}W^{-1}}$ was achieved. The production of the modules was successfully completed in 2021, with the final assembly and installation completed in time for data taking in 2022.

Flexible transparent electrodes, encompassing the combination of optical transparency and electrical conductivity, empower numerous optoelectronic applications. While the main efforts nowadays concentrate on developing wire meshes and conductive oxides, those technologies are still in a quest to find a balance between price, performance, and versatility. Here we propose a new platform, encompassing the advantages of nanophotonic design and roll-to-roll large-scale lithography fabrication tools, granting an ultimate balance between optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. The design is based on an array of silica microspheres deposited on a patterned thin aluminum film attached to a flexible polymer matrix. Microspheres are designed to squeeze 80% light through nanoscale apertures with the aid of the photonic nanojet effect given the light impinges the structure from the top. The photonic structure blocks the transmission for the backpropagation direction thus granting the device with the high 5-fold level of asymmetry. The patterned layer demonstrates a remarkable 2.8 {\Omega}/sq sheet resistance comparable to that of a continuous metal layer. The high conductivity is shown to be maintained after a repeatable application of strain on the flexible electrode. The technical specifications of the demonstrated transparent electrode establish it as a viable option for integrating into advanced optoelectronic devices such as solar cells, touchscreens, and organic light-emitting diodes to name a few. Its notable capacity to optimize light transmittance while ensuring consistent electrical performance, alongside its mechanical flexibility, makes the demonstrated device an essential component for applications, where such attributes are critically required., Comment: 16 pages, 5 pages, 1 table

$\Lambda$, $V$, $\Xi$ (ladder), and other three-level quantum systems with one forbidden transition ($\Lambda$-type systems) play an important role in quantum physics. Various applications require manipulation by such systems using as control shaped laser field. In this work, we study how degeneracy in energy states and Bohr frequencies of these systems affects the efficiency or difficulty of finding optimal shape of the control field. For this, we adopt the notion of higher order traps which was introduced in [A.N. Pechen and D.J. Tannor, Are there traps in quantum control landscapes? Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 106}, 120402 (2011)], where second/third order traps were discovered for $\Lambda$-type systems with one forbidden transition and with non-degenerate energy levels. We study control of such systems with and without denegeracy in their eigenstates and Bohr frequencies, and investigate how these degeneracies influence on the efficiency of optimizing the control laser field. We find that the degeneracy of Bohr frequencies in the $\Xi$ system leads to the appearance of seventh order trap with a more significant attracting domain resulting in a more difficult optimization, while degeneracy in energy states of $\Lambda$-type systems does not lead to increase of the order of the zero control trap compared to the non-degenerate case., Comment: 21 pages, 6 figures

In the framework of the $U(3) \times U(3)$ extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, the processes $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-\pi^0$ and $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-\eta$ are described taking into account both ground and first radially excited intermediate meson states. It is shown that channels with radially excited $\phi(1680)$ meson are dominant in both processes. The influence on the results of the appearance of phase factors of radially excited intermediate states, the existence of which is indicated by experimental data, is discussed., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures

The total 5-loop quantum electrodynamics universal contribution to the anomalous magnetic moments of the leptons was calculated by the author. The obtained value $A_1^{(10)}=5.891(61)$ provides the first complete verification of the previously known value obtained by T. Aoyama, M. Hayakawa, T. Kinoshita, M. Nio (AHKN). The discrepancy is $5 \sigma$. The computation includes the recalculation of the part that the author calculated in 2019 using a slightly different method and the calculation of the remaining part of the coefficient. A comparison with the AHKN values in 32 gauge-invariant classes is provided. In addition, the results are divided into 95 small gauge-invariant classes that subdivide the former ones. Such a detailzation is provided for the first time. The method described in previous works of the author was used in general. However, the Monte Carlo integration method is new and is described in detail. We prove that if two subsets ${A}$ and ${B}$ of the plane are connected, ${A}$ is bounded, and the Euclidean distance $\rho({A},{B})$ between ${A}$ and ${B}$ is greater than zero, then for every positive $\varepsilon<\rho({A},{B})$, the sets ${A}$ and ${B}$ can be separated by a simple closed curve (also known as a Jordan curve) whose points all lie at distance $\varepsilon$ from the set ${A}$. We also prove that the $\varepsilon$-boundary of a connected bounded subset ${A}$ of the plane contains a simple closed curve bounding the domain containing the open $\varepsilon$-neighbourhood of ${A}$. It is shown that in both statements the connectivity condition can be significantly weakened. We also show that the $\varepsilon$-boundary of a nonempty bounded subset of the plane contains a simple closed curve. This result complements Morton Brown's statement that the $\varepsilon$-boundary of a nonempty compact subset of the plane is contained in the union of a finite number of simple closed curves.

We propose a novel method for changing the length of laser wakefield electron acceleration in a gas jet by a cylindrical blast wave created by a perpendicularly focused nanosecond laser pulse. The shock front destroys the wake thus stopping interaction between the laser pulse and accelerated electron bunch allowing one to directly control the interaction length and avoid dephasing. It also improves the electron beam quality through the plasma lensing effect between the two shock fronts. We demonstrated both experimentally and numerically how this approach can be used to form quasi-monoenergetic electron bunch with controlled energy and improved divergence as well as to track changes in the bunch parameters during acceleration.
