Medicated jellies are widely used by a large part of patients, especially by people with swallowing difficulties. Preformulation studies play an essential role in the development of new pharmaceutical formulations. The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate medicated jellies containing perphenazine, an antipsychotic drug from the group of phenothiazine compounds used to treat schizophrenia and other mental disorders. Typical gelling agents such as sodium alginate (Alg), gelatine (Gel), and pectin (Pec) were used to develop the medicated jellies. In addition to the biopolymers, components such as benzoic acid (BenzAc), citric acid (CitAc), sodium citrate (NaCit), sorbitol (Sorb) and xylitol (Xyl) were also used. Before preparing the jellies, the moist binary mixture between each component of the jelly and the active substance was analysed to investigate the compatibility of the substances. The active substance, moist binary mixture, and medicated jellies were analysed by FTIR_UATR spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetry.

This study aimed to evaluate the staining sensitivity and surface changes in recent composite resins (Herculite Ultra XRV (Kerr, Bolzano, Italy), G-ænial A'CHORD (GC Corp, Tokyo, Japan), and Omnichroma (Yamaguchi, Japan)) when exposed to common beverages such as coffee, red wine, and Coca-Cola. A total of 60 disk-shaped specimens were prepared from three different resin composites (n = 20 each). The specimens were exposed to coffee, red wine, and Coca-Cola for 10 days. Color measurements were taken using a spectrophotometer, and surface morphology and elemental composition were analyzed using SEM and EDS. The SEM and EDS analyses revealed significant changes in the surface morphology and elemental composition of the composites after immersion. Coffee and wine caused significant surface degradation, whereas Coca-Cola resulted in the greatest degree of surface and elemental variations. Color changes (ΔE = 4 ± 0.52) were most notable in Coca-Cola for Herculite Ultra XRV (Kerr, Italy), in red wine for G-ænial A'CHORD (GC Corp, Japan) (ΔE = 12.51 ± 0.38), and in coffee for Omnichroma (Yamaguchi, Japan) (ΔE = 10.85 ± 1.03). The tested beverages significantly affected both the surface condition and the chemical composition of the resin at the surface level. In the process of investigating crimes resulting in victims, criminal investigation bodies carry out a complex activity, among other things, it is necessary to identify blood traces, highlight them, fix them and pick them up to be sent to specialized laboratories for the purpose of analysis. This paper investigates the detection of latent blood traces produced after simulating a "perfect" destruction of evidence. The choice of support materials and products used to remove blood stains took into account their ease of procurement. The analysis methods used to identify latent blood traces are easy and require short execution times. Various materials, cotton and synthetic fibers (polyamide+elastane) were stained with blood and their different behavior in identifying latent bloodstains was observed. It was investigated whether chemical (detergent, Cif, Vanish, chlorine, Domestos) and natural (green and black tea) wiped blood stains can be identified with BlueStar Forensic luminol and ATR-FTIR technique. Determinations were made 1-2 days as well as 8 months after wiping the bloodstains, demonstrating that there were major differences between the two time points of the analysis. The results obtained suggest that the identification of chemically altered bloodstains can be successfully performed under certain conditions and that storage time and conditions play an important role in forensic determinations. The synthesis, thermal behavior and electrical properties of a series of undoped and 1% Ga- or Y-doped lanthanum manganite compounds, obtained via the sol–gel technique, are reported. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyses were performed on all synthesized samples. The XRD results confirmed a good crystallinity for all studied samples, and a change in the crystal structure of Ga- or Y-doped lanthanum manganite (Pm-3m space group) was observed compared to the pristine sample (R-3c space group). Thermal analysis highlighted a different behavior of the doped samples compared to the undoped sample, observed by the different mass losses in the analyzed temperature range. For these materials, it is shown for the first time that the static electrical conductivity, σDC, of Ga- or Y-doped LaMnO3 compounds increases compared to the σDC of the pristine sample, and the thermal activation energy of the process of electrical conduction, EA,cond, increases linearly with the temperature for all three studied samples.
