Context: The primary objective of using dentifrice is to remove plaque biofilm from tooth surfaces and additionally protect teeth from sequelae of events – halitosis, gingivitis, periodontal inflammation, and dental caries. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and consumer satisfaction profile of using herbal and nonherbal dentifrice in controlling dental plaque. Settings and Design: The randomized clinical trial was conducted on dental students at K. D. Dental College and Hospital, Mathura. Subjects and Methods: The triple-blinded trial was conducted during July 2022 over 15 days among 50 dental students of the institute, aged 18–21 years selected using simple random sampling and allocated into two groups: Group A – herbal dentifrice (Patanjali Dant Kanti dentifrice) and Group B – nonherbal dentifrice (Colgate dentifrice). At baseline, open ended self administered questionnaire regarding general information was recorded followed by full mouth prophylaxis and instructions to brush twice daily with allocated dentifrice following modified bass technique. Plaque assessment was done for index teeth on the 7th and 15th days using the plaque index. Statistical Analysis Used: The data were analyzed using SPSS. Intergroup comparisons were done using paired t-test and descriptive statistics for consumer satisfaction profile assessment. Results: The mean plaque index scores for Groups A and B was reduced at 15th day in comparison to scores on 7th day. Consumer satisfaction feedback was found statistically significant for Group A with insignificant for Group B on few parameters. Conclusions: Herbal dentifrice had similar antiplaque efficacy to nonherbal dentifrice with satisfactory consumer feedback without side effects on using them.

Developing novel transition metal complexes with unique structures and properties has garnered significant attention in coordination chemistry. In this work, we prepared two Fe-macrocyclic complexes, A and B, with similar macrocyclic core but differing in the number of phenyl group substitutions via the template approach. The complexes were characterized using several analytical tools. The data were found to be in good agreement with the proposed structure of these complexes. Further electrochemical studies indicated a slight anodic shift in Fe(II) reduction, which can be attributed to the phenyl group effect. The theoretical investigations demonstrated that phenyl groups on the macrocyclic core of complex A significantly reduced the charge density on the Fe center due to extended conjugation, as compared to complex B, making the conversion of Fe(II) to Fe(I) easy. Additionally, the prepared complexes were studied for their antimicrobial activity against various pathogens, and it was found that complex A is more effective against E. coli compared to the standard drug Gentamycin.

Nutrient management recommendations for carrot are described according to the standard UF/IFAS recommendation format of 1) a calibrated soil test result; 2) target soil pH; 3) the "4Rs" of fertilizer management: rate, timing, placement, and source; and 4) water management factors.

Background: Trace metal deficiency has become a major constraint on the productivity and sustainability of soils. Agriculture becomes more complex, advanced and intensive farming systems develop, however, the deficiency of trace metal are more frequent and extensive in different systems. Methods: This study investigated the variation of trace metal minerals in soil profiles of diverse land use systems (LUSs), i.e. agriculture, horticulture and forestry, falling under three dominant soil orders (Entisol, Inceptisol and Aridisol) in Malwa region of Punjab. Through comprehensive analyses, we explore the intricate relationships between soil characteristics, land use practices, and the distribution of key trace metals—namely zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). Results: The mean values of DTPA-extractable trace metal from soil profiles of different land uses varied from 1.75 to 2.09, 1.64–2.32, 1.18–1.69 mg kg−1 for Zn; 0.59–1.02, 0.59–0.99, 0.64–0.92 mg kg−1 for Cu; 12.12–16.49, 9.84–16.05, 7.94–11.56 mg kg−1 for Fe; 7.82–9.99, 4.66–9.39, 6.51–7.46 mg kg−1for Mn in soil orders Entisol, Inceptisol and Aridisol, respectively. The concentration of trace metals in different soil orders follows the pattern of ntisol>Inceptisol>Aridisol. In contrast, there is a considerable amount of variation and no discernible pattern in the distribution of trace metals under various LUSs in each soil order. Several LUSs were examined, and agriculture land use system (ALUS) had the greatest Fe and Mn content, while the horticulture land use system (HLUS) had the highest Zn and Cu content. The Irrespective of soil orders and LUSs, the concentration of trace metals decreased as soil depth increased. Diverse LUSs and management practices have a substantial impact on the physico-chemical characteristics of soils, which in turn influence the availability of trace metals. According to the Pearson correlation studies, trace metals were positively associated with soil OC and negatively associated with soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and there was also a positive correlation between DTPA-Zn, Cu, Fe, and Mn in the investigated soils. The results of the principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that soil CaCO3 and organic carbon (OC) content were the most variable soil parameters influencing crop trace metal availability in different soil orders and land use systems. Conclusion: The findings contribute to a nuanced understanding of the dynamic interplay between soil properties and land use, providing valuable insights for sustainable agricultural practices and environmental management in the region.

Abstract Cloud computing has drastically changed the delivery and consumption of live streaming content. The designs, challenges, and possible uses of cloud computing for live streaming are studied. A comprehensive overview of the technical and business issues surrounding cloud‐based live streaming is provided, including the benefits of cloud computing, the various live streaming architectures, and the challenges that live streaming service providers face in delivering high‐quality, real‐time services. The different techniques used to improve the performance of video streaming, such as adaptive bit‐rate streaming, multicast distribution, and edge computing are discussed and the necessity of low‐latency and high‐quality video transmission in cloud‐based live streaming is underlined. Issues such as improving user experience and live streaming service performance using cutting‐edge technology, like artificial intelligence and machine learning are discussed. In addition, the legal and regulatory implications of cloud‐based live streaming, including issues with network neutrality, data privacy, and content moderation are addressed. The future of cloud computing for live streaming is examined in the section that follows, and it looks at the most likely new developments in terms of trends and technology. For technology vendors, live streaming service providers, and regulators, the findings have major policy‐relevant implications. Suggestions on how stakeholders should address these concerns and take advantage of the potential presented by this rapidly evolving sector, as well as insights into the key challenges and opportunities associated with cloud‐based live streaming are provided.

A thorough understanding of how crops respond to water stress is essential for effective irrigation management under changing climate conditions and declining water resources. Amongst the various methods of irrigation, crop water stress index (CWSI)-based irrigation is popular due to its non-invasive techniques that require less data and can precisely indicate the severity of crop water deficiency. The present study focuses on establishing the upper- and lower-baselines of canopy-air temperature difference (Tc-Ta) for the estimation of the CWSI and to determine the CWSI threshold for maize and wheat crops. The upper- and lower-baseline of (Tc-Ta) was established using the relationship between (Tc-Ta) and vapor pressure deficit (VPD) for different irrigation treatments such as 60 %ETc, 70 %ETc, 80 %ETc, 90 %ETc, and 100 %ETc with irrigation interval of 1-day, 2-days, and 3-days. The study showed that the baselines varied with the growth stages of the crop and with irrigation treatments and reached the maximum in Anthesis and Silking growth stage for wheat and maize, respectively. The threshold of CWSI was estimated by developing a relationship between the normalized values of grain yield (GY) and irrigation water productivity (WPI). For the Rabi wheat, a quadratic correlation was identified between CWSI and WPI (r2 = 0.89), and GY (r2 = 0.93). Similarly, for Kharif maize, a quadratic relationship was noted between CWSI and both WPI (r2 = 0.75) and GY (r2 = 0.85). From the study, it was found that the CWSI thresholds of Rabi wheat and Kharif maize are 0.29 and 0.31, respectively. Based on the study, it can be concluded that by utilizing the thresholds for a winter wheat-summer maize cropping system, high GY and WPI can be achieved.

Abstract In the context of degradation of soil health, environmental pollution, and yield stagnation in the rice–wheat system in the Indo-Gangetic Plains of South Asia, an experiment was established in split plot design to assess the long-term effect of crop residue management on productivity and phosphorus requirement of wheat in rice–wheat system. The experiment comprised of six crop residue management practices as the main treatment factor with three levels (0, 30 and 60 kg P2O5 ha–1) of phosphorus fertilizer as sub-treatments. Significant improvement in soil aggregation, bulk density, and infiltration rate was observed under residue management (retention/incorporation) treatments compared to residue removal or residue burning. Soil organic carbon (SOC), available nutrient content (N, P, and K), microbial count, and enzyme activities were also significantly higher in conservation tillage and residue-treated plots than without residue/burning treatments. The residue derived from both crops when was either retained/incorporated improved the soil organic carbon (0.80%) and resulted in a significant increase in SOC (73.9%) in the topsoil layer as compared to the conventional practice. The mean effect studies revealed that crop residue management practices and phosphorus levels significantly influenced wheat yield attributes and productivity. The higher grain yield of wheat was recorded in two treatments, i.e. the basal application of 60 kg P2O5 ha–1 without residue incorporation and the other with half the P-fertilizer (30 kg P2O5 ha–1) with rice residue only. The grain yield of wheat where the rice and wheat residue were either retained/incorporated without phosphorus application was at par with 30 and 60 kg P2O5ha–1. Phosphorus levels also significantly affected wheat productivity and available P content in the soil. Therefore, results suggested that crop residue retention following the conservation tillage approach improved the yield of wheat cultivated in the rice–wheat cropping system.

The focus of the present work is to develop an aluminium metal matrix nanocomposite reinforced with graphene nanoplates (GNP). This study examines the effect of adding a small quantity of GNP on the mechanical properties and corrosion behaviour of the composites. The powder metallurgy approach was employed to fabricate a range of Al/GNP composites, and each of these composites was developed using a different proportion of GNP, ranging from 0 to 0.6 wt. %. The XRD line profile investigations of pure Al and composites were performed to identify the presence of GNP in the composites. Physical and mechanical properties, followed by corrosion resistance, are examined. Micro Vickers hardness and a compression test were conducted to determine the mechanical properties. The corrosion test of the composites was performed using potentiostat. Experimental results reveal that the composite has a noticeable advantage over pure aluminium in terms of hardness, compressive strength and corrosion resistance.

Introduction: Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is a gold standard treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). The Clavien classification system was proposed in 1992 to grade complications of general surgery, which was then modified in 2004 by Dindo. In 2017, the European Association of Urology (EAU) endorsed its use for reporting complications in urological procedures. However, the system relies on observers to grade complications, and different observers may assign different grades to the same negative outcome, highlighting the need for uniformity. Aim: To assess the inter-observer reliability and uniformity among urologists in reporting complications of TURP using the modified Clavien-Dindo classification system. Materials and Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted at Department of Urology, Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India, from January 2018 to May 2023. The study included symptomatic patients with BPH and prostate gland sizes greater than 40 cc. Negative outcomes were evaluated and complications were rated by nine different raters. Inter-observer reliability was tested using weighted kappa with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0 (Fleiss’s kappa test). Results: A total of 523 men with BPH who underwent TURP were evaluated, with a mean age of 66.7±5.2 years and a mean prostate volume of 62 cc. Adverse events occurred in 96 patients (18.36%), and these complications were classified according to the Clavien-Dindo System (CDS) by nine different blinded observers. The rating of these complications was then assessed for concordance. A concordance rate using weighted kappa of 0.847 was observed, indicating high inter-observer reliability for TURP. Conclusion: Clavien-Dindo’s system demonstrated good interobserver concordance and reliability. Some modifications to the grading system are needed, taking into account the impact of pre-existing co-morbidities and auxiliary procedures. Largescale prospective studies are recommended to further validate these findings.

ABSTRACTIn response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the quest for coronavirus inhibitors has inspired research on a variety of small proteins beyond conventional antibodies, including robust single-domain antibody fragments, i.e., “nanobodies.” Here, we explore the potential of nanobody engineering in the development of antivirals and diagnostic tools. Through fusion of nanobody domains that target distinct binding sites, we engineered multimodular nanobody constructs that neutralize wild-type SARS-CoV-2 and the Alpha and Delta variants at high potency, with IC50 values as low as 50 pM. Despite simultaneous binding to distinct epitopes, Beta and Omicron variants were more resistant to neutralization by the multimodular nanobodies, which highlights the importance of accounting for antigenic drift in the design of biologics. To further explore the applications of nanobody engineering in outbreak management, we present an assay based on fusions of nanobodies with fragments of NanoLuc luciferase that can detect sub-nanomolar quantities of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in a single step. Our work showcases the potential of nanobody engineering to combat emerging infectious diseases.IMPORTANCENanobodies, small protein binders derived from the camelid antibody, are highly potent inhibitors of respiratory viruses that offer several advantages over conventional antibodies as candidates for specific therapies, including high stability and low production costs. In this work, we leverage the unique properties of nanobodies and apply them as building blocks for new therapeutic and diagnostic tools. We report ultra-potent SARS-CoV-2 inhibition by engineered nanobodies comprising multiple modules in structure-guided combinations and develop nanobodies that carry signal molecules, allowing rapid detection of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Our results highlight the potential of engineered nanobodies in the development of effective countermeasures, both therapeutic and diagnostic, to manage outbreaks of emerging viruses.

Introduction: Depression can affect oral health as a result of neglecting oral hygiene procedures which leads to an increased risk of dental caries and periodontal disease. Aim: To determine relationship between oral health and depression among elder people residing in old age homes of Mathura city. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted among 500 subjects aged ≥60 years where dental condition, number of missing teeth, removable denture wearing, teeth mobility, periodontal condition, pocket depth, loss of attachment, and depression according to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 scale were assessed. Results: Regression analysis showed a positive relationship of the PHQ-9 value with DMFT and MT. Conclusion: Among people aged 60 years and over, severity of depression increased with higher number of MT and DT.

Ball milling is an effective method for developing a homogenous and refined microstructure for composites. In this study, we synthesized ultrahigh strength Al7075/xZrO2 alloy nanocomposites. These nanocomposites were specially fabricated by the in-situ powder metallurgy technique from high-purity elemental powders through a multi-step process, which included ball milling, uniaxial cold compaction, traditional sintering in an inert atmosphere, and hot extrusion. The ZrO2 nanoparticles with varying volume percentages (x vol.% = 0, 1.25, 2.53, 3.84, and 5.19) were used as a reinforcement. Ball milling was performed to mechanically alloy the elemental powders that reduce the grain size of the powder and homogeneously disperse the nano ZrO2 in the matrix. The physical, mechanical, microstructural, and tribological properties of the nanocomposites were determined. The results showed that adding 2.53 vol.% ZrO2 nanoparticles considerably improved the mechanical and tribological properties. The tensile strength and yield strength of the 2.53 vol.% alloy nanocomposites increased significantly. The wear resistance of the nanocomposite increased up to 5.19 vol.% ZrO2. The results obtained from the newly developed composites were compared with those of Al7075 alloy composites produced earlier.

ABSTRACT: Objectives: The presence of red-complex bacteria (RCB) has been associated with the occurrence of not only periodontal disease but also other systemic diseases, thereby potentiating an oral–systemic relationship. This study aimed to explore the levels of periodontal RCB in pregnant preeclamptic women with periodontal disease, potentiating the pathophysiology of a bacterial association in both periodontitis and preeclampsia. Methods: Six hundred pregnant women (aged 20 to 35 years) in their third trimester were selected and divided into 3 groups comprising a control group (systemically and periodontally healthy pregnant women), group A (preeclamptic women with chronic periodontitis), and group B (preeclamptic women without chronic periodontitis). Demographic variables and periodontal parameters were recorded. Other variables such as systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and the urine protein content were also estimated. RCB, namely Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Treponema denticola (Td), and Tenerella forsythia (Tf), were assessed in both subgingival plaque samples and placental samples of all the pregnant participants in the study. Results: The mean weight, mean body mass index, mean SBP, mean DBP, and mean urine protein content were significantly elevated in group A and group B when compared to the control group. Preeclamptic women with chronic periodontitis (group A) had higher levels of plaque index, probing pocket depth, bleeding on probing, and clinical attachment level as compared with the other groups. The numbers of the RCB were found to be elevated in group A, out of which Pg was found to be more prevalent. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that the periodontal indices, blood pressure, and urine protein content were found to be higher in preeclamptic women with periodontitis. Hence, reducing the periodontal bacterial load in pregnant women via good oral hygiene maintenance would further reduce the putative risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes including preeclampsia in these women.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignancy in men. Despite aggressive therapy involving surgery and hormonal treatments, the recurrence and emergence of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPCa) remain a major challenge. Dysregulation of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathway is crucial to PCa development and progression. This also contributes to androgen receptor activation and the emergence of CRPC. In addition, TGF-β signaling regulates long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression in multiple cancers, including PCa. Here, we discuss the complex regulatory network of lncRNAs and TGF-β signaling in PCa and their potential applications in diagnosing, prognosis, and treating PCa. Further investigations on the role of lncRNAs in the TGF-β pathway will help to better understand PCa pathogenesis.

The present study compares the six crop residue management techniques in main plots (since 2008) and three split nitrogen (N) levels, i.e., 75, 100 and 125 kg N/ha in subplots for rice crops for two years, i.e., 2019 and 2020, in sandy loam soil under field conditions. This experiment evaluated the long-term effect on rice productivity, soil organic carbon content and nutrient requirement in rice-wheat cropping system. The results revealed that different crop residue management practices and N levels significantly influenced rice growth, yield and yield attributes and improved nutrient uptake by grain and straw. Maximum grain yields of 20.8% and 17.8% higher over the conventional (no straw) treatment during 2019 and 2020, respectively, were recorded where the rice and wheat residue was retained or incorporated. The rice grain yield without residue responded significantly up to 125 kg N/ha. Whereas, with rice and wheat residue, rice grain yield did not respond to the application of N beyond 75 kg N/ha during both years.

This review paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using these cutting-edge methods while highlighting the important findings from numerous study articles. Healthcare data is guaranteed to be immutable and transparent by the proposed block-chain-based models, and multi-sensor data fusion makes it possible to combine various data sources for a comprehensive understanding of patient health. The patient-centric approach gives people the power to control their health information and actively engage in healthcare decisions. For wider use, the assessment does recognise the need to address issues with standards, scalability, and regulatory compliance.This paper emphasizes the significance of blockchain with multi-sensor data fusion in achieving secure, efficient, and patient-centric remote health monitoring, paving the way for a data-driven and personalized healthcare future.

Interspecific feeding is recorded in numerous bird species across the world, however, there are limited published observations from India. We provide the first documentation of a non-brood parasitic interspecific feeding between an Indian Robin (Copsychus fulicatus) and a Brown Rock Chat (Oenanthe fusca) fledgling from the Central Aravalli hill region of Ajmer, Rajasthan, India.

AbstractThe depth-wise depletion of soil organic carbon (OC), macro, micro, and secondary nutrients under the rice-wheat system has resulted in multi-nutrient deficiencies and a decline in crop productivity, emphasizing the replacement of rice-wheat with alternate cropping systems like maize-wheat, cotton-wheat, soybean-wheat, and moongbean-wheat to restore soil fertility and productivity. Long-term investigations (since 2016) revealed that there was a depth-wise decline in pH, EC, OC, and nutrients in soil profile (Udic Ustrochept, Inceptisols) among different cropping systems. The practice of deep-rooted cropping systems (maize-wheat and cotton-wheat) led to maximum OC, soluble calcium, and magnesium, while legume-based systems (especially soybean-wheat) led to maximum available phosphorus (30.86 kg ha−1), boron (0.49 mg kg−1), and DTPA-zinc (1.82 mg kg−1) in soil profile (0–120 cm). This system also led to the maximum surface soil OC, available phosphorus, soluble magnesium, DTPA-zinc, and boron. From the production point of view, soybean-wheat system (115.65 q ha−1) led to higher system grain productivity as compared to rice-wheat system (109.60 q ha−1). Therefore, the practice of alternative cropping systems like soybean-wheat and cotton-wheat helps in the build-up of nutrient status by playing a pivotal role in influencing the surface and depth-wise distribution of organic carbon and nutrients in the soil.

Abstract Mungbean [Vigna radiata L. (Wilczek)] is considered as an extremely nutritious crop possessing a high level of micronutrients, but their low bioavailability in the crop leads to micronutrient malnutrition in humans. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the potential of nutrients viz. boron (B), zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) biofortification on productivity, nutrient concentration and uptake as well as the economics of mungbean cultivation. In the experiment, the various combinations of RDF with ZnSO4.7H2O (0.5%), FeSO4.7H2O (0.5%) and borax (0.1%) were applied to mungbean variety ML 2056. The combined foliar application of Zn, Fe and B was highly efficient in increasing the yield of grain as well as straw in mungbean exhibiting maximum values i.e. 944 kg ha−1 and 6133 kg ha−1, respectively. Similar results for B, Zn and Fe concentration in grain (27.3 mg kg−1, 35.7 mg kg−1 and 187.1 mg kg−1, respectively) and straw (21.1 mg kg−1, 18.6 mg kg−1 and 376.1 mg kg−1, respectively) of mungbean were observed. Also, uptake of Zn and Fe by grain (31.3 g ha−1 and 164.4 g ha−1, respectively), as well as straw (113.7 g ha−1 and 2295.0 g ha−1, respectively), was maximum for the above treatment. Whereas, the B uptake was found to enhance significantly through the combined application of B, Zn and Fe, where the values 24.0 g ha−1 and 128.7 g ha−1 corresponded to grain and straw, respectively. Thus, combined use of ZnSO4.7H2O (0.5%) + FeSO4.7H2O (0.5%) and borax (0.1%) significantly improved the yield outcomes, the concentration of B, Zn and Fe, uptake and economic returns of mungbean cultivation to alleviate the B, Zn and Fe deficiency.

BrainX3 is an interactive neuroinformatics platform that has been thoughtfully designed to support neuroscientists and clinicians with the visualization, analysis, and simulation of human neuroimaging, electrophysiological data, and brain models. The platform is intended to facilitate research and clinical use cases, with a focus on personalized medicine diagnostics, prognostics, and intervention decisions. BrainX3 is designed to provide an intuitive user experience and is equipped to handle different data types and 3D visualizations. To enhance patient-based analysis, and in keeping with the principles of personalized medicine, we propose a framework that can assist clinicians in identifying lesions and making patient-specific intervention decisions. To this end, we are developing an AI-based model for lesion identification, along with a mapping of tract information. By leveraging the patient's lesion information, we can gain valuable insights into the structural damage caused by the lesion. Furthermore, constraining whole-brain models with patient-specific disconnection masks can allow for the detection of mesoscale excitatory-inhibitory imbalances that cause disruptions in macroscale network properties. Finally, such information has the potential to guide neuromodulation approaches, assisting in the choice of candidate targets for stimulation techniques such as Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS), which modulate E-I balance, potentiating cortical reorganization and the restoration of the dynamics and functionality disrupted due to the lesion.

IntroductionMicronutrients particularly Zn and Mn play a vital role in agricultural plants as well as human beings. Categorization of existing genotypes in wheat toward Zn and Mn application is extremely important to select the most efficient Zn as well as Mn genotype with higher yield and quality.MethodsIn this study, the differentiation of 14 genotypes was done for nutrient use efficiency characteristics through two methods to identify the most efficient Zn and Mn wheat genotypes. The categorization of genotypes was done based on efficiency and responsiveness under control and Zn + Mn treated conditions.Results and discussionThe mean values of plant growth parameters, crop yield, nutrient concentration (Zn, Mn, N, P and K), quality parameters (crude fiber and protein content) and nutrient utilization efficiency were considerably greater in Zn + Mn treated plots signifying the higher response of traits toward Zn and Mn application. The interaction between genotype and Zn + Mn indicated that the application of Zn + Mn significantly affected the studied genotypes for different characteristics. The results of the study indicated that genotypes PBW-824, BWL-8855, PBW-872, PBW-869 and PBW Zn1 were efficient in terms of crop yield. Based on the quality parameters, genotypes PBW-824 and PBW-869 were the highest ranked among the studied genotypes. The identified Zn + Mn efficient genotypes would be valuable resources for higher crop production along with improved wheat grain quality.

Viruses are one of the major restraining factors in pepper cultivation globally. Among different viruses, pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) is one of the most detrimental plant viruses infecting Capsicum spp. belonging to the genus Tobamovirus and Virgaviridae family. It has a monopartite positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome of 6.35 kb size. On an average, PMMoV results in 15%–40% losses in capsicum fruit yield. However, the incidence of PMMoV can reach as high as 95%, leading to substantial yield losses ranging from 75% to 95%. The virus is transmitted via contact, soil, and seeds rather than via insect vectors. PMMoV, because of its seed-borne nature, now occurs worldwide. PMMoV mainly infects Capsicum spp. under natural conditions; however, it can experimentally be transmitted to other plants species belonging to the families Solanaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Labiatae, Chenopodiaceae, and Plantaginaceae. The resistance to tobamoviruses in capsicum is conferred by L locus. Mutations in the coat protein of PMMoV are responsible for the emergence of L-mediated resistance-breaking pathotypes. The highly contagious nature of the virus, seed transmission behavior, and the emergence of virulence complicate its management through a single approach. Therefore, efforts are directed towards providing a more practical and efficient integrated management solution using the RNA interference approach; exploitation of the L gene for resistance breeding; and the inhibitory potential of natural products, systemic resistance-inducing antagonistic bacteria, and chemically synthesized silver nanoparticles. Markers linked to L alleles have been observed to accelerate capsicum breeding programs through marker-assisted selection. In this study, an attempt has been made to compile the recent developments in PMMoV biology, pathogenic variability, genomic organization, and management strategies.

Introduction: Medical Expulsive Therapy (MET) involves the utilisation of different drugs that act on the ureter through various mechanisms. Alpha-1 adrenoceptor and Phosphodiesterase (PDE) regulate ureteric motility thus combination of these drugs can increase the ureteric stone expulsion rate by complementing each other’s actions. Aim: To assess the synergistic role of alpha-blocker and Tadalafil therapy in facilitating the spontaneous expulsion of distal ureteral stones. Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in the Department of Urology at a Tertiary Care Centre (NSCB Medical College) from April 2020 to January 2022. A total of 281 patients diagnosed with lower ureteric stones (5-10 mm) were divided into five study groups: Group A was treated with tamsulosin, group B with silodosin, group C with tadalafil alone, group D with tamsulosin and tadalafil, and group E treated with a combination of silodosin and tadalafil. Corticosteroid (deflazacort 6 mg) was also included in every group. All patients were reassessed after three weeks of treatment for stone expulsion rate, expulsion time, the number of hospital visits for pain, and adverse effects of drugs. The statistical data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software (version 21.0, IBM Corp, USA). The Chi-square test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test were used to determine the effect on stone expulsion rate and expulsion time. Context: Oil pulling carried out with coconut oil plays a vital role in treating plaque, gingivitis and eradicating dental caries. Aims: The study was conducted to assess the effect of coconut oil pulling on plaque formation and plaque-related gingivitis. Settings and Design: A prospective clinical study was conducted at a Dental College and Hospital to assess the effect of coconut oil pulling on plaque formation and plaque-related gingivitis. Subjects and Methods: The study was conducted among 75 students, aged between 19 and 21 years. All the subjects were advised to perform oil pulling with 5 ml of edible coconut oil every morning for 5 min on empty stomach and before tooth brushing. The data for plaque and gingival index-scores were assessed periodically at baseline, 15th day, and 30th day. Statistical Analysis Used: The collected data were analyzed using student paired t-test with SPSS software version 22. Results: Among 75 enrolled patients, the reduction of means of Gingival Index scores at baseline was (1.178 ± 0.124), at 15th day was (1.076 ± 0.051) and at 30th day was (1.023 ± 0.020) and reduction of means of plaque Index scores at baseline was (1.518 ± 0.084), at 15th day was (1.257 ± 0.062) and at 30th day was (1.090 ± 0.054). A positive correlation between Gingival and Plaque Index scores was found between periods. The result for both was found to highly statistically significant, (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Coconut oil pulling when used as an adjunctive oral hygiene aid is effective in decreasing plaque formation and subsequent plaque-induced gingivitis.

Objective The objective of this study was to examine a spine naïve community hospital’s ability to perform MITLIF safely and with speedy discharge via implementation of a minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) program utilizing ERAS. Methods Single community hospital retrospective cohort analysis for initial consecutive MITLIF cases with unilateral pedicle screws performed by a single surgeon from October 2019 to March 2021. Minimum postoperative follow-up was one year. Narcotic use was assessed per the state prescription drug monitoring program. Surgery protocol included single paraspinal incision, non-expandable 18/22 mm tube, operating microscope, fluoroscopic guidance, EMG with SSEP monitoring and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Results 52 patients were included. Average OR time, and fluoroscopy time were 143±115 minutes, and 1.00±0.47 minutes, respectively. Patients were prescribed an average of 38±33 post-operative opioid doses for an average of 8±7 days. All patients on preoperative, chronic narcotics had no prescription changes, pre-op versus post-op, despite clinical improvement. Complications included one irrigation a(1.9%) nd debridement with retention of hardware for surgical site infection, and one revision(1.9%) for displaced hardware. Discharge data included 47 (90.4%), four (7.7%), and one patients (1.9%) discharged on POD1, POD2, and beyond POD2, respectively. Conclusion MITLIF can be safely and successfully performed at a spine naïve community hospital with excellent intraoperative metrics, a low complication rate, and speedy discharge. MITLIF performed well in multiple perioperative and postoperative variables compared to MISS techniques. Considerations for implementation of MITLIF in the community setting include special equipment, personnel training, surgeon experience, ERAS protocols and diligent patient/indication selection.

Manganese (Mn) is an essential micronutrient in plants, and it is necessary for hydrolysis in photosystem II, chlorophyll biosynthesis, and also chloroplast breakdown. Limited Mn availability in light soil resulted in interveinal chlorosis, poor root development, and the development of fewer tillers, particularly staple cereals including wheat, while foliar Mn fertilizers were found efficient in improving crop yield as well as Mn use efficiency. In the above context, a study was conducted in consecutive two wheat growing seasons for screening of the most effective and economical Mn treatment for improving the yield and Mn uptake in wheat and to compare the relative effectiveness of MnCO3 against the recommended dose of MnSO4 for wheat. To fulfill the aims of the study, three manganese products, namely, 1) manganese carbonate MnCO3 (26% Mn w/w and 3.3% N w/w), 2) 0.5% MnSO4·H2O (30.5% Mn), and 3) Mn-EDTA solution (12% Mn), were used as experimental treatments. Treatments and their combinations were as follows: two levels of MnCO3 (26% Mn) @ 750 and 1,250 ml ha−1 were applied at the two stages (i.e., 25–30 and 35–40 days after sowing) of wheat, and three sprays each of 0.5% MnSO4 (30.5% Mn) and Mn-EDTA (12% Mn) solution were applied in other plots. The 2-year study showed that Mn application significantly increased the plant height, productive tillers plant−1, and 1,000 grain weight irrespective of fertilizer source. The results of MnSO4 for grain yield wheat as well as uptake of Mn were statistically at par with both levels (750 and 1,250 ml ha−1) of MnCO3 with two sprays at two stages of wheat. However, the application of Mn in the form of 0.5% MnSO4·H2O (30.5% Mn) was found more economical than MnCO3, while the mobilization efficiency index (1.56) was found maximum when Mn was applied in MnCO3 with two sprays (750 and 1,250 ml ha−1) in the two stages of wheat. Thus, the present study revealed that MnCO3 can be used as an alternative to MnSO4 to enhance the yield and Mn uptake of wheat.

The study was aimed to prepare good quality paneer in sensory and textural attributes with greater yield by inclusion of high protein powders to the milk. Paneer samples were prepared from buffalo milk, after standardization of protein:fat ratio (w/w) to 0.68 with addition of skimmed milk powder (SMP), milk protein concentrate 60 (MPC60) and sodium caseinate (NaCas). These paneer samples along with control paneer were analysed for yield, protein loss in whey, composition, microstructure, sensory and texture profile. All the paneer samples reported a significant increase in yield, the order being MPC60 (28%) > SMP (26 %) ≈ NaCas (26 %) > Control (18 %). Paneer manufactured using SMP and NaCas had hardest and softest body due to lowest and highest moisture retention, respectively. Paneer samples manufactured with MPC60 had highest protein content (33 %) due to lowest protein loss in whey. Sensory analysis revealed that paneer manufactured with MPC60 was best amongst all the samples with superior sensory attributes and highest overall acceptability. Texture profile analysis and microstructure evaluation revealed the differences in textural properties of paneer samples prepared using protein powders with control paneer. Good quality paneer with higher yield comparable to conventional can be prepared by standardization of protein:fat ratio to 0.68 with addition of MPC60.

Healthcare facilities (HCFs) are complex building structures that are becoming more challenging with ever-changing codes and regulations. Previously completed projects become a basis for future guidance regarding costs and scope. A robust normalization framework to assess previously completed projects with today’s costs and location will benefit various stakeholders. The current study provides a complete picture for normalizing the overall project cost and phase cost by life cycle and HCF cost elements. This study aims to develop a cost normalization approach tailored to HCF-specific cost elements to extend the normalization framework for the overall project cost. Further, the researchers developed a distinct framework for normalizing the effect of shell space on the normalization of Total Installed Cost (TIC) to establish fixed cost adjustment rates for cold and warm shell spaces in HCFs, which can increase the accuracy of cost normalization of the overall project cost. This study identified an appropriate set of cost indices for normalizing HCF cost elements using publicly available indices. The cost elements identified for normalization included HCF-specific and Construction Specifications Institute Master Format (CSIMF) cost elements for assigning individual normalization procedures. This study provides individual and unique approaches for normalizing all identified cost elements, such as mechanical, concrete, etc. The initial framework was evaluated through a case study analysis that developed into the proposed approach built upon the collaborative efforts of academic researchers and industry experts. This study introduced shell space cost adjustment rates for warm and cold shell spaces to further develop a space normalization framework. This paper addresses the challenges of normalizing HCF project costs using the breakdown of HCF cost elements. Moreover, the paper provides the HCF’s overall cost normalization approach, emphasizing cost elements that allow accurate comparisons between various HCFs for early scope and cost guidance.

Background: Dental implants use has significantly increased and the concentration of metal ions into blood may have detrimental effect of human body. The present study aimed to determine metal ions levels in blood of dental implants patients. Materials and Methods: 48 patients scheduled for dental implant surgery was assessed for measurement of titanium and aluminum pre-operatively and post-operatively at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Results: Out of 48 patients, males were 22 (45.8%), and females were 26 (54.2%). The mean ± SD titanium metal levels in blood pre-operatively was 2.34 ± 0.47 mg/dl, at 6 weeks was 2.35 ± 0.48 mg/dl, at 3 months was 2.37 ± 0.52 mg/dl, at 6 months was 2.37 ± 0.42 mg/dl, and at 1 year was 2.38 ± 0.51 mg/dl. A non-significant difference was seen (P > 0.05). The mean ± SD aluminum metal levels in blood pre-operatively was 4.4 ± 0.12 mg/dl, at 6 weeks was 4.45 ± 0.14 mg/dl, at 3 months was 4.7 ± 0.13 mg/dl, at 6 months was 4.7 ± 0.21 mg/dl, and at 1 year was 4.8 ± 0.17 mg/dl. A non-significant difference was seen (P > 0.05). Conclusion: A non- significant increase in titanium and aluminum ions level in blood of patients receiving dental implants was observed.

Abstract We study the particle trajectories in the recently proposed five dimensional warped (generalized) Ellis–Bronnikov spacetime (5D-WGEB) (which does not require exotic matter) as well as it’s four dimensional counterpart (4D-GEB) in detail and conduct a comparative study. Analytical approach provides conditions which determines three types of trajectories (trapped, returning and crossing) for both 4D and 5D spacetimes. Notably in 5D geometry existence of trapped trajectories become highly sensitive to the initial conditions. We have solved the timelike geodesic equations numerically and presented the trajectories graphically along with corresponding geodesic potentials. We thus distinguished the roles of the so-called wormhole parameter and the warping factor regarding their effects on the trajectories and embedding as such. Interestingly, the 5D-WGEB model shows the localization of massive particles around the location of the brane for growing warp factor and runaway trajectories for decaying warp factor.

Researchers have created several expert systems over the years to predict heart disease early and assist cardiologists to enhance the diagnosis process. We present a diagnostic system in this paper that utilizes an optimized XGBoost (Extreme Gradient Boosting) classifier to predict heart disease. Proper hyper-parameter tuning is essential for any classifier’s successful application. To optimize the hyper-parameters of XGBoost, we used Bayesian optimization, which is a very efficient method for hyper-parameter optimization. We also used One-Hot (OH) encoding technique to encode categorical features in the dataset to improve prediction accuracy. The efficacy of the proposed model is evaluated on Cleveland heart disease dataset and compared it with Random Forest (RF) and Extra Tree (ET) classifiers. Five different evaluation metrics: accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and AUC (area under the curve) of ROC charts were used for performance evaluation. The experimental results showed its validity and efficacy in the prediction of heart disease. In addition, proposed model displays better performance compared to the previously suggested models. Moreover, our proposed method reaches the high prediction accuracy of 91.8%. Our results indicate that the proposed method could be used reliably to predict heart disease in the clinic.

Introduction: Vesical calculus accounts for nearly 5% of urinary system calculi and is commonly seen in patients with Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO), chronic infection, and neurogenic bladder. Open cystolithotomy is an invasive surgery with a long postoperative period and with a high wound infection rate, so only best recommended for large stones. With recent advancements in endourological instruments, cystolithotripsy either by Percutaneous Cystolithotripsy (PCCL) or Transurethral Cystolithotripsy (TUCL) approach has become a safer treatment for medium size stone (2-4 cm). Aim: To compare the outcome of PCCL and TUCL for medium size bladder stones in adult patients. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between January 2019 to December 2021 in the Department of Urology, Superspeciality Hospital, Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India. Group I was PCCL (n=32) and group II was TUCL (n=30). PCCL group was compared with TUCL group II for age, stone size, number of stones, operative time, mean urethral entries, postoperative hospital stays, peri and postoperative complications. Statistical analysis was performed using Chi-square and t-test. Differences were accepted to be statistically significant at p-value≤0.05. Results: A total of 168 were treated for bladder stones in the Institute and 62 patients were included in the study. No residual stone was observed in any of the two groups. Complete stone clearance was achieved in both groups of patients. Mean operative time and the number of urethral entries were 46.75±2.45 min and 1.06±0.25 min in in the PCCL group, and 59.67±3.84 min and 2.87±0.82 min in in the TUCL group. (p-value-

Integrated use of chemical fertilizers with organic manure is becoming a quite promising practice to maintain higher crop productivity and to manage soil health, which is otherwise deteriorated due to intensive cultivation and imbalanced fertilizer use. Thus, the present experiment was conducted for combined application of inorganic fertilizers and organic manures for higher yield and nutrient uptake in basmati rice as well as to restore soil health. The treatments applied in the present study involve T1: control, T2: Farmyard manure (15 t ha−1), T3: Poultry manure (6 t ha−1), T4: Press mud (15 t ha−1), T5: Rice straw compost (6 t ha−1), T6: Farmyard manure (15 t ha−1) + 50% N (recommended dose of nitrogen), T7: Poultry manure (6 t ha−1) + 50% N, T8: Press mud (15 t ha−1) + 50% N, T9: Rice straw compost (6 t ha−1) + 50% N, T10: 75% N, T11: Farmyard manure (15 t ha1) + 75% N, T12: Poultry manure (6 t ha−1) + 75% N, T13: Press mud (15 t ha−1) + 75% N, T14: Rice straw compost (6 t ha−1) + 75% N, T15: 100% N. The integrated use of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers significantly increased the grain and straw yield, macronutrients as well as micronutrients uptake in basmati due to the release of nutrients from decomposition of organic manures. Among different treatments, the addition of PM+75% N showed maximum grain yield, straw yield and sustainability yield index (44.53 q ha−1, 89.67 q ha−1 and 0.91 respectively) as well as the highest uptake of nitrogen (58.29 and 65.39 kg ha−1), phosphorus (25.04 and 23.24 kg ha−1) and potassium (15.26 and 118.95 kg ha−1) in grain and straw, respectively. Similar results were observed for zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) uptake under treatment involving PM+75% N with values 183.9, 26.18, 339.3 and 355.8 g ha−1 in grain and 205.3, 25.62, 2627.3 and 278 g ha−1 in straw, respectively. Additionally, correlation studies showed that the grain and straw yield of basmati exhibited a significantly positive correlation with soil P, Cu and Fe. The study suggested that the partial substitution of inorganic fertilizers with organic manures did not lower crop yield and nutrient uptake. Thus, integrated application of organic and inorganic fertilizers can be used for the sustainability of basmati-wheat system and to retain the soil fertility which is otherwise deteriorated with sole use of inorganic fertilizers.

Plants have inherent capabilities to modulate their resistance against both biotic and abiotic stresses. Plant–microorganism interactions in the rhizosphere play vital role in such responses. The interactions of non-pathogenic or beneficial bacteria such as plant beneficial microbial strains with plants in the soil are governed mostly by Plant growth regulators such as salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA), and ethylene (ET), which are involved in the regulation of basal resistance against various pathogens. Plant growth regulators are well known to induce systemic resistance (ISR), similar to the pathogen-activated systemic acquired resistance (SAR) that provides basal resistance to plants against pathogens as well as herbivores. ISR response mediated through JA/ET is independent of the SA-mediated response of SAR. Different components of plant beneficial microbial strains involved in induced systemic resistance have been identified and characterized recently using different plant–pathogen model systems. Here, we provide an update on ISR and the role of non-expressor of pathogenesis-related gene 1 (NPR1) and other elicitors of bacterial origin in their interaction with plants, with an emphasis on the underlying factors involved in systemic resistance.

Purpose — Travelling preferences and expectations play a dominant role in influencing tourists’ decision-making and choice of destination. Tourism sector is undergoing recovery from COVID-19, showing strong signs of change with the surge in domestic tourism in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. People’s priorities and expectations post-COVID-19 are going through continuous reformations under several socioeconomic and psychological makeup. Therefore, the research is conducted with the prerogative of understanding the traveling preferences of tourists post-COVID-19 towards the choice of tourism products. Method — The research follows a descriptive cum explanatory research design to study tourism prospects in Madhya Pradesh, known as Tiger state of India, which is popular for wilderness indigenous or heritage tourism. The data is collected through close-ended questionnaire from prominent tourist locations of Madhya Pradesh during 3-4 months of peak season and analyzed through descriptive statistics. Result — The study reflects the expectations of tourists concerning factors such as safety, hygiene, public works, quality of services, etc which affect their decision for choosing a destination and likelihood areas of expenditure. Contribution — The study is a unique account of research work on prospects of domestic tourism in Madhya Pradesh post-COVID-19. It fills the existing gap in the literature and will be facilitative for further studies and marketers alike for bringing resilience to the sector, understanding tourist’s preferences after any health or national emergencies.

Introduction: Smoking tobacco is most common nowadays among dental students due to stress induced by practical workloads and exams. There is limited data regarding tobacco smoking among dental students. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of tobacco smoking among online respondent dental students of a dental college. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted on dental students from 15 July 2021 to 15 August 2021. Ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Committee of K.D. Dental College and Hospital (Reference number: KDDC/Admin/2021/9990A). Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and responses were gathered using an online Google form survey with informed consent. A convenience sampling method was used. Point estimate and 95% confidence interval were calculated. Results: Among 60 online respondents, the prevalence of tobacco smoking was found to be 11 (18.33%) (17.04-24.56, 95% Confidence Interval). The percentage of participants who wanted to stop smoking now was 11 (18.33)%. Conclusions: The prevalence of tobacco smoking among the online dental respondents of a dental college was similar to the other studies done in similar settings.

Abstract Kadaknath, the only black chicken indigenous to India, faces the threat of extinction due to declining numbers. Its meat is used in tribal medicine for invigorating and health-promoting properties. Expectations of immune-boosting and therapeutic properties in its meat are creating a buzz these days. Thus, Kadaknath meat was explored and further compared with the commercial Cobb 400 broiler (Cobb) for the functional traits that might be contributing towards proclaimed pharmacological benefits. Birds (n = 20/ group) were raised under similar management conditions and the two primal chicken meat cuts (breast and thigh) were collected at the marketing age. Kadaknath meat was found to be an enriched source of functional biomolecules (carnosine, anserine, creatine). Its breast meat carnosine content was more than double of the Cobb broiler, 6.10 ± 0.13 and 2.73 ± 0.1 mg/ g of wet tissue, respectively. Autocrine TGF-β signalling promotes glioma proliferation, invasion, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and drug resistance. Non-coding RNAs such as miRNA, lncRNA, and circRNAs have emerged as critical transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulators of TGF-β pathway components in glioma. Here, we summarize the complex regulatory network among regulatory ncRNAs and TGF-β pathway during Glioma pathogenesis and discuss their role as potential therapeutic targets for Gliomas.

Background: Severe and/or persistent anemia due to autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) secondary to vivax malaria is a rare association. Very few cases are reported worldwide, and even less from India. AIHA occurs when immunoglobulins and/or complements target red blood cell surface antigens resulting in hemolysis. Awareness of this complication helps in early recognition, investigation, and prompt initiation of treatment. Clinical Description: A 15-year-old boy presented with a history of high fever associated with chills for 2 days. Examination revealed the presence of severe pallor and icterus. Systemic examination was unremarkable. Investigations showed anemia (Hb: 3.6 g/dl) with reticulocytosis (6.6%), malaria (trophozoites of Plasmodium vivax and antigen test positive), and indirect evidence of hemolysis (indirect hyperbilirubinemia and elevated lactate dehydrogenase of 668 U/l). Management and Outcome: Treatment was started with intravenous artesunate and packed cells transfusion was planned. Cross-matching showed autoantibodies which raised suspicion of AIHA. Coomb's test was positive. Least incompatible packed red blood cells were transfused. A repeat peripheral smear was negative for malaria. Posttransfusion, the Hb levels rose to 8.3 g/dl before falling to 5.3 g/dl over the next 2 days. The direct antiglobulin test was positive. High doses of oral prednisolone resulted in progressive improvement in Hb levels to 8 g/dl within a week. He was discharged on oral prednisolone with daily oral folic acid supplements. The steroids were tapered when Hb reached 10.6 g/dl and continued for 3 months. Conclusion: If a patient with malaria (falciparum or vivax) exhibits persistent severe anemia, indirect evidence of hemolysis is found on investigations and/or autoantibodies identified on cross-matching, AIHA should be suspected and investigated accordingly.

SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro) involved in COVID-19 is required for maturation of the virus and infection of host cells. The key question is how to block the activity of Mpro. By combining atomistic simulations with machine learning, we found that the enzyme regulates its own activity by a collective allosteric mechanism that involves dimerization and binding of a single substrate. At the core of the collective mechanism is the coupling between the catalytic site residues, H41 and C145, which direct the activity of Mpro dimer, and two salt bridges formed between R4 and E290 at the dimer interface. If these salt bridges are mutated, the activity of Mpro is blocked. The results suggest that dimerization of main proteases is a general mechanism to foster coronavirus proliferation, and propose a robust drug-based strategy that does not depend on the frequently mutating spike proteins at the viral envelope used to develop vaccines.

Objective: Symptomatic ureteric stones cause surrounding inflammation-promoting obstruction. C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell count (WC), and neutrophil percentage (NP) tend to rise after inflammatory response. Monitoring response during the course of medical expulsive therapy (MET) may help in deciding early intervention, thereby decreasing morbidity. We assessed the role and trends of these markers in predicting the outcome of MET. Materials and Methods: One hundred and ninety-two patients with distal ureteric calculus of size >5 mm were included in this prospective study from April 2017 to March 2018 after ethical committee approval. CRP, NP, and WC were measured on day 1, 7, and 14 of MET, and analysis was done. Results: On univariate analysis, stone size and mean values of CRP, WC, and NP on day 1, 7 and 14 in stone nonpassers were significantly higher compared to stone passers (P < 0.05). Receiver operator curve analysis showed area under the curve value of 0.798 (P = 0.001) for CRP and cut off value determined was 1.35 mg/dL. Multivariate analysis of different variables showed significant association of higher CRP (>1.35 mg/dL) and larger stone size (>7 mm) with MET failure. Decreasing trend of CRP was seen in both groups, but values were higher in stone nonpassers. WC and NP showed decreasing trend in stone passers but persistently high in stone nonpassers. Conclusions: Higher CRP and larger stone size were associated with failure of MET. WC and NP showed decreasing trend in stone passers and persistently higher in nonpassers, which may potentially predict failure of MET, however, their role need to be further studied.

Micronutrients play a vital role in improving growth and performance of different crops. Management of soil micronutrients for better crop production needs sound understanding of their status and causes of variability. Therefore, in order to evaluate the changes in soil properties and micronutrient contents of soils, an experiment was conducted with soil samples from six soil depths i.e. 0-10, 10–20, 20–40,40-60, 60–80 and 80–100 cm of four prominent land-use systems viz. forest, horticulture, crop land and barren land. Amongst these, the maximum contents of OC (0.36%), clay (19.4%), DTPA-Zn (1.14 mg kg−1), Fe (11.78 mg kg−1), Mn (5.37 mg kg−1), Cu (0.85 mg kg−1) and Ni (1.44 mg kg_1) were observed in soils of forest land use system followed by horticulture, crop land and barren land, respectively. Also, soils of forest landpossessed 29.5, 21.3, 58.4, 51.8 and 44.0% higher DTPA-Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu and Ni as compared to crop land use system. Interactive influence of land use systems and soil depths on distribution of DTPA extractable micronutrients was found to be positive with maximum content at 0–10 cm depth of forest land use and lowest at 80–100 cm of barren land use system, respectively. Correlation analysis explicit positive and significant relationship of OC with DTPA Zn (r = 0.81), Fe (r = 0.79), Mn (r = 0.77), Cu (r = 0.84) andNi (r = 0.80), whereas the correlation results among DTPA micronutrients indicated the highest positivecorrelation of Ni with Cu (r = 0.95) and Mn (r = 0.93) followed by Fe with Zn (r = 0.93). Therefore, inclusion of forest and horticulture land use in crop lands or shift of land use from forest based to crop land resulted in renewal of degraded soil which could be beneficial for enhancing agricultural sustainability.
