Adapted sports practice has increased in recent years, and has now put an additional demand on research to further explore and understand the characteristics of this field of practice. The main aim of this study was to examine the serial mediation effects of motivation and affective activation in relationships between passion and satisfaction with life in adapted sports athletes. The study sample comprised 143 adapted sports athletes (male = 107) aged between 15 and 59 years (M = 29.21; SD = 10.45) enrolled in distinct modalities. Double serial mediation models were developed according to hypothetical associations, and were analyzed using PROCESS macro v. 3.3. In both models, no direct effect between the types of passion and satisfaction with life emerged. However, positive indirect effects through self-determined motivation have emerged in the harmonious and obsessive passion models, as for a distinct and positive effect of relatedness in satisfaction with life., Author(s): Diogo S. - Abstract
This study aims to validate the Portuguese version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (Cronbach's alpha = 0.82) and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (Cronbach's alpha = 0.86 for positive affect and 0.89 for negative affect) for people with disabilities and to examine the association between engaging in physical activity and affective responses, investigating the relationship with satisfaction with life. 143 Portuguese with disabilities filled in the Portuguese version of the scales. The findings endorsed the single factorial structure and reliability of the Satisfaction with Life Scale [χ2/df = 6.3, B-S p = 0.487, TLI = 0.989, CFI = 0.995, SRMR = 0.0263, RMSEA = 0.043 (CI = 0, 0.130)]. For Positive and Negative Affect Scale, the results also confirmed the factorial structure and reliability [χ2/df = 1.871, B-S p = 0.114, TLI = 0.891, CFI = 0.918, SRMR = 0.0778, RMSEA = 0.078 (CI = 0.048, 0.108)]. On the other hand, the structural model presented satisfactory fit to the data [χ2/df = 1.436, B-S p = 0.269, TLI = 0.917, CFI = 0.930, SRMR = 0.0748, RMSEA = 0.055 (CI = 0.033, 0.075)]. Significant direct effects have been found, as has been theoretically proposed, namely: years of practice displayed a positive and significant association with positive affect; positive affect was positively associated with satisfaction with life (β = 0.073, CI = 0.020, 0.139; p = 0.031). Both the Dualistic Model of Passion and Self-Determination Theory suggest that the persistence of a behaviour over time derives from the internalisation of the passion or motivation that the individual feels about the activity. However, the integration of these theoretical assumptions may lead to a better understanding of related outcomes, in particular on subjective well-being (SWB). In this context, this study aimed at systematically reviewing the relation between passion, behaviour regulation (i.e., self-determined motivation), and SWB in sport. The PRISMA 2020 protocol was used to guide the systematic review. Electronic searches were conducted in the Web of Science database and Pubmed. The following descriptors were used: SWB; passion; motivation; behavioural regulation; and sport. After the search, 12 studies were retrieved for analysis that show us the following results tendencies: harmonious passion (HP) and autonomous motivation (AM) (i.e., more self-determined forms of behaviour regulation) are positively related to SWB (i.e., life satisfaction and positive affect), while obsessive passion (OP) and controlled motivation (CM) (i.e., less self-determined forms of behaviour regulation) are negatively associated with SWB. However, no studies were found to simultaneously analyse the three theoretical constructs. These results show us the importance of developing conditions in sport contexts that promote positive feelings that take into account athletes' development of harmonious passion and self-determined behaviour regulation, in order to achieve higher levels of well-being. Nevertheless, these results also lead us to the necessity for more studies to highlight the theoretical link between passion and motivation in the context of sport, especially regarding the mediating role of motivation in the relationship between passion and well-being. RANDOMIZED controlled trials ,ADULTS ,MENTAL depression ,AEROBIC exercises - Abstract
Context: Physical exercise (PE) is an effective treatment for depression, alone or as an adjunct. Objective: There is a lack of indicators regarding the frequency, intensity, duration, and type of physical exercise (PE). This study aims to synthesize and analyze the dose-effect of different PE protocols in adult subjects in the treatment of depression, based on the analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Data Sources: The search was conducted using Web of Science, PubMed, and Cochrane Library electronic databases. Study Selection: Studies with an exercise-based intervention published by December 31, 2021 were identified. RCTs and meta-analyses involving adults with depression were also included; 10 studies were selected, including a total of 956 subjects. Study Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Level of Evidence: Level 1. Results: Effect sizes were summarized using standardized mean differences (95% confidence interval) by effected randomized models. The results reinforce that exercise appears to be beneficial in improving depression among adults aged 18 to 65 years. Interventions lasting above 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity and group interventions seem to have a more significant effect on reducing depression. Studies have revealed that aerobic exercise, compared with resistance or flexibility, has a more positive effect on depression. Conclusion: PE can be a way to reduce depression and can be used as a possible adjunctive tool for pharmacological and/or alternative treatments. Considering the findings of this study, it is important that health professionals (eg, exercise physiologists, physicians, nurses, psychologists) promote the practice of PE as a complementary alternative and act early to prevent the worsening of depression. This narrative review aims to examine the current evidence that supports the importance of physical exercise and the role of the technicians as a promoter of citizenship education, physical fitness and its impact on the performance of activities of daily living and, therefore, on the quality of life of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Several questions are listed in order to understand the reasons for the high rates of a sedentary lifestyle in this population, the reason for the scarcity of experimental studies, who are the actors in the evaluation, prescription and conduct of these activities, what the training of the actors is and what care should be taken. have with that population, in which, through a reflection supported by scientific evidence, an attempt will be made to respond. Results show a clear need in the market for physical exercise technicians with basic training in the area of sports sciences and specifically in adapted physical activities, in the development of functions, tasks and activities with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, whether in the context of regular education, fitness or sport and, consequently, promoters of quality of life in individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities., Esta revisão narrativa tem como objetivo examinar as evidências atuais que suportam a importância do exercício físico e o papel do técnico de exercício físico como promotor de educação para a cidadania, da aptidão física e o seu impacto no desempenho das atividades de vida diária e, por conseguinte, da qualidade de vida de indivíduos com Dificuldade Intelectual e Desenvolvimental. Physical capacities, health and quality of life (QOL) are improved through physical exercise in individuals with Intellectual Disability (ID). The aim of the present study was to verify the association of physical fitness with the perception of physical well-being and QOL in individuals with ID. Sixteen individuals with ID were evaluated by bioimpedance, functional tests (“6-minute walk test” (6MIN), “Timed Up and Go” (TUG), “30-s Chair Stand” (L/S), and “medicine ball throw”) and isokinetic dynamometer (lower limbs [LL]). The Personal Outcomes Scale (POS) was used to measure “Physical Well-Being” and “Total QoL”. Pearson and Spearman correlations were applied (p< 0.05). Correlations were found only in the female gender between the muscular strength in the extension/flexion of the LL (60º/s) and the responses of the reference technicians in the domains of “Physical Well-Being” (respectively, r= 0.729, p= 0.026; r= 0.802, p= 0.009) and “Total QOL” (respectively, r= 0.706, p= 0.033; r= 0.767, p= 0.016). It was found that strength, endurance and aerobic capacity do not seem to be associated with the physical well-being and QOL of the sample., As capacidades físicas, a saúde e a qualidade de vida (QV) podem ser melhoradas através do exercício físico em indivíduos com Dificuldade Intelectual e Desenvolvimental (DID).

There are several benefits through the realization of physical exercise programs (EP) in individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Difficulties (DID), however, the literature presents a shortage in the implementation and a small number of studies with very different methodologies and types of training. Short-term interventions, a reduced number of longitudinal studies, methodological gaps and inappropriate training methods, hinder more explicit and consensual conclusions regarding the prescription and its results. However, EP programs, in particular strength training (ST), which has been associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, can be an asset for the individual with DID, given the prevalence of several comorbidities, namely hypertension, cholesterol and type II diabetes. The present study aims to identify the fundamental and structuring aspects for the prescription of ST, namely the assessment methods, intensity, duration, frequency, appropriate exercises and their relationship with the results, through the methodology using the narrative review, starting from the characterization of various ST programs implemented in individuals with DID. The results are presented in the form of recommendations for the evaluation and prescription of ST programs, in the population with DID. The current study examined the possible role of basic psychological needs and passion in Paralympians' life satisfaction. A mediational model was tested where autonomy, competence and relatedness were hypothesized to be linked to athlete life satisfaction via harmonious and obsessive passion. The sample comprised 91 Portuguese Paralympians aged between 18 and 59 years (M = 31.01; SD = 3.78). Athletes completed self-reports of needs satisfaction in their sport, passion towards their sport, and general life satisfaction. Perceptions of competence and relatedness were associated with harmonious passion (β =.37, p >.01; β =.21, p >.05, respectively), while perceptions of autonomy were associated with obsessive passion (β =.39, p >.05). Additionally, harmonious passion, but not obsessive passion, was associated with life satisfaction (β =.40, p >.01), and only the indirect effect from competence to life satisfaction, via harmonious passion, was significant. These results suggest that feeling autonomous may not necessarily translate into more harmonious passionate engagement but is associated with higher levels of obsessive passion. In contrast, competence and relatedness appear to play an important role in the life of athletes who experience a more harmonious passion towards their sport practice. Perceptions of mastery and competence, as well as sport-related social connections could be important to consider improving the lives of athletes with Paralympic experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to validate the Portuguese version of the Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS) for the Portuguese elderly population through a confirmatory factorial analysis, and to verify how subjective happiness differentiates between physically active and inactive elders. Participated in this study 309 elderly (242 women, 67 men), with age between 60 and 90 years old (M = 68.59; SD = 6.60). The results confirmed the good adjustment of the original factorial model: χ² = .26; p = .87; df = 2; SRMR = .006; TLI = .98; CFI = .99; RMSEA = .00, allowing us use the Portuguese version of the Subjective Happiness Scale as instrument of measure the subjective happiness in elderly population. We also verified, through the study of differences, that the active elders have a more perception of happiness compared to the inactive ones.

- Abstract
Perhaps the greatest barriers to achieving major advances in public health in the twenty-first century result from the paralysis of the pandemic paradigm or from the widespread inability to envision alternative or new models of thought. Human movement represents a complex behavior that is influenced by personal motivation, health and mobility problems, genetic factors, and the social and physical environments in which people live. These factors exert an influence on the propensity to engage in sedentary behaviors as well as physical activity. However, the biological, social and environmental pathways leading to sedentary behavior versus physical activity may be different. In addition, the health effects associated with sedentary behavior and physical activity may be the result of different biological mechanisms. Thus, our objective was to discuss the importance of physical exercise for health and the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. Research on sedentary behavior has been growing; however, the evidence for its determinants is relatively sparse. More studies are needed to obtain more conclusive results, because it is fundamental to understand these complex relationships related to the practice and the acquisition of active and healthy lifestyles as opposed to a sedentary lifestyle.

Reasons ,Attrition ,Systematic review ,Swimming - Abstract
The present research aims to systematically review the determinants and reasons for swimming dropout. The systematic review was conducted through electronic searches on the Web of Knowledge and PsycInfo databases from 2 February to 29 July 2015, using the keywords dropout, withdrawal, motives, reasons, sport, framework-theories, motivation, swim*, review, attrition and compliance. Fifteen studies were found and six were fully reviewed and its data extracted and analysed. Most studies were undertaken in Canada and in the United States of America (USA), and one study was conducted in Spain. Most participants were female (65.74%), and the main reasons for dropout were 'conflicts with their trainers', 'other things to do', 'competence improvements' failure', 'parents, couples or trainers' pressure', 'lack of enjoyment' and 'get bored'. This review contributes to the present knowledge on the understanding of dropout in swimming. However, it is necessary to continue researching on this topic, validating measurement instruments and studying the motivational processes related to dropout and persistence.

The main purpose of this study was to validate a questionnaire that evaluates students´ satisfaction with their teacher and with the curricular unit. This questionnaire was developed as an alternative measurement method of the teacher´s performance, determining his initial psychometric qualities, and using an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. 216 students of the ESDRM-IPS participated in this study, anonymously. The questionnaire, developed specifically for this purpose, included three factors and 15 items, where answers were given in a seven level Likert scale. The main results showed a very promising initial psychometric qualities, whether considering the construct validity or reliability scores, however the analysis of the individual parameters indicated some redundancy underlying certain items, which suggests the possibility of clustering. Nevertheless, we conclude that this questionnaire can be used with a high degree of confidence to measure students´ satisfaction with teachers and with the curricular units.

- Abstract
The Positive Psychology studies the positive subjective experience, the capabilities and human virtues and the institutions that promote quality of life, contributing for the development and understanding of the main factors that enable individuals and communities prosperity (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2000). The aim of this study was to investigate the construct of optimism as “emotional and cognitive predisposition to think and feel that positive aspects of life outweigh the negatives” (Custódio, Pereira & Seco, 2010, p. 592), as a positive influence on the individual happiness, physical and mental health and also in professional success (Barros, 2010). On this research was applied the Optimism Scale (Barros, 1998) with a population of 40 elements (N = 40), taking in account the independent variables marital status, age, gender, qualifications and leisure time. According those results, it was found that the respondents expressed varying degrees of optimism. The dispositional optimism is negatively correlated with age. The need to develop specific strategies, when working with older ages, is a practical implication of this work, A Psicologia Positiva estuda a experiência subjectiva positiva, as potencialidades e virtudes humanas, e as instituições que promovem a qualidade de vida, contribuindo para a compreensão e desenvolvimento dos factores que permitem a prosperidade dos indivíduos e comunidades (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2000).

- Abstract
The main objective of Psychology of Religion is to observe, describe and analyze religious phenomena, considered as objects of behavior or contents of consciousness, (Bach, 1999). In the context of positive psychology, it becomes relevant to examine the internalization of religion and hope, understood as “a thought process about the objectives (goals) of the person, together with the motivation to act accordingly (agency) and find the means (pathways) to achieve their goals” (Snyder, 1995, p. 355). On this research was applied the Internalization Scale Religious (Barros, 2005) and the Hope Scale (Barros, 2003), in order to analyze how a population of 40 elements (N = 40) internalize religion and find their levels of hope, according the independent variables marital status, age, gender and educational qualifications. It was found that respondents express different levels of internalized religion and hope. In terms of religious experience, there are positive correlations between age and marital status. Hope is not correlated with the variable gender. From this point of view, it appears that are a diversity of factors influencing religious experience and levels of hope, suggesting that individuals with higher religiosity levels also shows a higher level of hope., A Psicologia da Religião tem por objectivo observar, descrever e analisar os fenómenos religiosos, considerados como objectos de comportamento ou conteúdos de consciência, (Bachs, 1999).

- Abstract
In today society, grandparents are an important affective and financial support, carrying with them traditions and rituals characteristic of past generations and introducing childhood memories of their sons to their grandchildren. Knowing that early life experiences can shape the future of a child and that the grandparents role goes beyond the role of guardian, it is the intent of this study to investigate the perceptions surrounding the concept, role and type of support associated with grandparents in function of a gender variable. In this investigation a survey was elaborates and applied twice mediated by theoretical-practical sessions (Childcare a Psychology), on a population of 104 individuals. It was observed that the sessions influenced the perceptions of the grandparents on their role as educators, the need to emotionally support their children and synonymous of being parents for a second time. With regards to financial support, perceptions were maintained before and after the sessions. With regards genders, it was observed that both presented alterations in the same questions, however females considered that the main role is to guarantee support without getting excessively involved.

Sports performance was studied taking into account a Program of Training Psychological Competencies (PTPC) on sports in school, for pupils with special educational needs. In this exploratory study, the line of research is qualitative, using the case study, with the application of multiple techniques of intervention and evaluation in a group formed by 18 pupils (M=13,44; DP=1,36), boccia practitioners. The data obtained allowed to point out that there is a direct relation between PTPC and the development of specific competences (improvement of concentration levels, pre-competitive routines and the adoption of correct postures), promoting the inclusion on scholar environment. With de description of a PTPC programmatic model, psychologists involved in training projects of the athlete's with disabilities, might consolidate pertinent data, regarding technical and psychological approach, which provide the basis for the adequation or the redefinition of strategies and promoting changes in the original competitive practices. The increase in life expectancy is one of the greatest advances of modern society, as well as a challenge for all. This is an observed global phenomenon, established also as one of the determinants of socio-demographic reality of Portugal. In this context, takes clear relevance the study of stereotyped images of older people and aging. This exploratory study has involved 226 students from Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior (M = 21.46, SD = 3.25) enrolled in five courses running in the academic year of 2013/14. For its design was adopted the quantitative methodology, with application of Stereotype's Range (Magalhães, 2010), according the year, course and age. Respondents expressed similar images about elderly, according the course and year level. However, some issues ("unproductivity", "less intellectual capacity"), show different images at the level of course and year. Other differences could be stated, namely: the "physical ability" (year) and the "disease" (course). Regarding age, we highlight its association with the stereotype of "similarity of behaviors." This results, and facing the necessary student's skills in the field of Sport Sciences, may reinforces the importance of continuous work on this issue, with specific focus on Aging Psychology, sociocultural and psychological aspects of elderly people.
