The article is devoted to the study of the theoretical and organizational foundations of language teaching in the Canadian education system in the context of globalization processes and multilingual society. The work presents a retrospective analysis of the formation and development of language teaching in the Canadian education system from the beginning of organized education to the beginning of the 21st century, highlights certain issues of state regulation in the field of language education in Canada. The socio-political context of the development of multilingualism in Canada is analyzed and the stages of formation and development of a multilingual society are determined. The work reveals the peculiarities of the organization of L1, L2 and FL learning at various levels of the Canadian education system. The conceptual ideas of language learning in Canadian pedagogical research are defined; the specifics of language training of citizens in the Canadian education system, taking into account the bilingual nature of society, are identified; the newest methods and trends in development of language education in Canada are reviewed. On the basis of a comparison of the language training practice in Ukraine and Canada, certain elements of the positive Canadian experience have been identified, which are expedient to use in the national education system in the conditions of the creation of the European context of language education.

Based on the analysis of sources on the problem of research, the article defines types of electronic educational resources (EER), general requirements for them, focuses on didactic and methodological requirements and existing holistic systems of psychological and pedagogical requirements for EER, presents the main types of parameters that can be used to evaluate the quality of EER, analyzes the typical structure of EER and characterizes its components. The analysis of approaches to defining the concepts of “immersiveness”, “immersive educational environment”, “immersive approach in education”, “immersive educational resources” (IER) was carried out, on the basis of which the relationship between the virtual environment and immersive learning environment was determined, the pedagogical aspects of learning in immersive environments were considered, the classification of IER was made. The main components of IER design and implementation are analyzed, and the essence of IER design and IER design methodology is determined. In the main part of the proposed general model of the methodology of IOR design and analyzed the goals, subjects of methods, stages, and content of training, forms of organization of the educational process, methods, teaching tools, and predicted results of the methodology. In the conclusion the elements of the methodology of IЕR design are presented, in particular, a complex IЕR in the form of a distance learning course, examples of designing prototypes of immersive teaching materials, etc. are considered.

The article provides an overview of the origins and current state of machine vision systems, examples of machine vision problems. The article describes the use of computer vision systems in education in both conventional and pandemic conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered changes in education that have modified existing educational applications of computer vision systems and spawned new ones, including social distancing, facial mask recognition, detection of infiltration into universities and schools, prevention of vandalism and detection of suspicious objects, attendance monitoring, recognition of emotions on faces in and without masks. Computer vision systems can also be used in education to introduce immersive educational resources. On the basis of the analysis of autonomous libraries for the identification of dynamic objects, it is concluded that in the creation of computer vision systems for educational purposes it is advisable to use computer vision libraries based on in-depth learning (in particular, the implementation of convolutional neural networks). A prototype computer vision system developed on the basis of Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit and deployed in the Microsoft Azure cloud is described. The system allows you to perform with a high degree of reliability the main functions: identification of emotions and the presence of a mask on the face, as well as allows you to determine sex, age, hair color, smile intensity, the presence of makeup, glasses, etc.

This editorial explores the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) in language education. It discusses the role of LLMs in machine translation, the concept of ‘prompt programming’, and the inductive bias of LLMs for abstract textual reasoning. The editorial also highlights using LLMs as creative writing tools and their effectiveness in paraphrasing tasks. It concludes by emphasizing the need for responsible and ethical use of these tools in language education.

The article examines issues related to the integration of the educational system of Ukraine into the European educational area. Based on the analysis of the legal framework of the European institutions regulating issues in education and the humanitarian sphere, the chronology of the creation of a common European educational area from the Bologna Declaration to the present is generalized. The key decisions and their achievements are determined, the peculiarities of the course of integration processes in EU education are traced. It was found that the indicators of the success of the implementation of decisions in the field of education are primarily numerical indicators that set the boundaries of both positive and negative phenomena in education. On the basis of normative documents, analytical articles and other documents adopted in Ukraine, an attempt is made to summarize information on measures implemented in Ukraine aimed at European integration in education, and to identify those challenges that need to be addressed in the context of new socio-political, economic and humanitarian challenges. Tasks facing education in the sphere of integration are: coordination with European countries of key indicators that characterize the level of education; determination of quantitative parameters of education quality, achievement of which is necessary; optimization of management models and investments in education, including by foreign investors, business structures at both the state and regional levels, taking into account decentralization; transformation of the content of education from the standpoint of the competence approach; development of valid methods of assessment of subject competencies; bringing education closer to both social needs and the needs of the labor market.

The article deals with the problem of the development of intercultural competence, which is one of the key competences in foreign language education. The focus lies on examining the opportunities available to use the topic of German Trails in Ukraine as a material for developing intercultural competence. The theoretical foundations on which the research was conducted are analyzed: the essence of intercultural communication, the conditions of its smooth flow; the essence of intercultural competence, its constituents and the relations between them; the role of country studies (both the country of the target language and its own history) in the acquisition of background knowledge, the ability to compare cultures, to tolerate differences between them, and furthermore. Considering that the development of intercultural competence at a level that would ensure the effective implementation of intercultural communication is primarily due to the presence, in addition to language acquisition, of intercultural knowledge, perceptions of the rules of communicative behavior and the positive disposition of learners, an important element is the approaching of the target culture, the removal of prejudices about the „alien“. This can be achieved through the inclusion in the educational process of materials from the immediate environment of learners. For exemple, the theme „Traces of the Germans in Ukraine“ is used, in which work, on the one hand, reveals facts of the history of the Germans and Germany in the European format, and on the other, the facts of the history of their own country, the history of their immediate surroundings, at the expense of which the story of „alien“ is transferred to the personal sphere. Among the possible forms of work on the topic focuses on three: work with texts containing information, the history of the Germans as a motivation for communication, the implementation of an interdisciplinary approach to training of project activities.

The article focuses on the use of mobile applications and Web 2.0 interactive tools to improve students’ German-language lexical competence. The composition and structure of lexical competence are described, the order of exercises for lexical competence formation is given, the didactic possibilities of using mobile applications, blogging technologies and other interactive tools to improve lexical skills are found out, examples of using mobile applications and Web 2.0 interactive tools in the learning process that prove their effectiveness are given. It is proved that the use of mobile applications and Web 2.0 interactive tools helps to organize students’ work in and outside classrooms effectively for the formation and improvement of their lexical competence.

This paper introduces Educational Dimension, a new Diamond Open Access peer-reviewed journal that publishes research on education, learning and training, and applications of theories and philosophies used in the sciences of learning and adjacent sciences. The paper provides information about the journal’s history, scope, editorial board, and publication ethics. The paper also invites scholars from all over the world to submit their original research papers, systematic reviews and meta-analyses to the journal.

Integration of ICT significantly increases the possibilities of the educational process and extends the boundaries of the educational sphere as a whole. Publicly available resources, such as e-mail, blogs, forums, online applications, video hosting sites, can serve as the basis for building open learning and education. Informational educational technologies of learning foreign languages are in the focus of this study. The article represents the results of theoretical analysis of content on the subject of its personal- and didactic-definite orientation, as well as some aspects of the practical use of commonly used YouTube video materials in the process of teaching German as the first or second foreign language in higher education, namely at the pedagogical university. Taking into account the practical experience of using the materials of several relevant thematic YouTube channels with a fairly wide constant audience, a concise didactic analysis of their product is presented and recommendations on converting video content into methodological material in the framework of practical course of German language by future teachers are offered. Due to the suggested recommendations, the following tasks can be solved: enrichment of the vocabulary; semantization of phraseological units, constant figures of speech, cliché; development of pronunciation skills; expansion of linguistic competence; improving listening and speaking skills; increasing motivation to learn, etc.
